They probably don't have to religiously stick to that so it wouldn't surprise me if they did play all Ed songs and did 40-21 (ish) in the first half hour, most of them will be big fallers anyway

Afternoon all I am actually quite looking forward to the Ed domination today which I suspect will be a minority opinion in this thread looking forward to hearing 'Green Light' even more though *.*

As for retro faves...

• A year since 'Girls Like' went top 10 still my favourite song that Zara has been involved with!
  
• 5 years since Stooshe became a thing *_* I actually preferred 'Love Me' to the much bigger 'Black Heart'
  
• 10 years since 'The Creeps' and 'Say It Right'! I don't think I was much of a fan of the former at the tine but it has grown into a right tune over the years. 'Say It Right' was of course sublime from day 1. That Nelly era was so strong
  
• 20 years since 'Mama/Who Do You Think You Are' was flying the flag for Comic Relief! 'Mama' is a lovely song but 'Who Do You Think You Are' was always definitely the strongest of the two.

I think its doable, the highest climber Martin Jenson, and all the new entries, if Little Mix are still in the top 40 along with Lorde, if they are tight they skip Coldplay in the top 10

Biography

Coldplay are a British rock band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland at University College London. After they formed under the name Pectoralz, Guy Berryman joined the group as a bassist and they changed their name to Starfish. Will Champion joined as a drummer, backing vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, completing the line-up. Manager Phil Harvey is often considered an unofficial fifth member. The band renamed themselves "Coldplay" in 1998, before recording and releasing three EPs; Safety in 1998, Brothers & Sisters as a single in 1999 and The Blue Room in the same year. The latter was their first release on a major label, after signing to Parlophone.

They achieved worldwide fame with the release of the single "Yellow" in 2000, followed by their debut album released in the same year, Parachutes, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Jennifer Kate Hudson (born September 12, 1981) is an American singer, actress and spokesperson. She rose to fame in 2004 as a finalist on the third season of American Idol, coming in seventh place.

I remember him having another song floating around at the time called 'Eyes Wide Open', Wikipedia tells me that it got to the dizzy heights of #78 here I don't recall anything else of his making an impact here. 'Somebody That I Used To Know' is such an amazing song to be a one-hit wonder with *.*

I don't think there were any singles from the same album properly pushed, and he's mostly been working on music with his band The Basics, adding to his typically lengthy gestation periods between albums.

One would expect that after such a big hit, anything else by him that would come afterwards would be signficantly noticed even if not that successful. Even Kimbra's Settle Down was more noticed even if it failed to impact.

The Creeps is not one of my favourites....although it is one of the better 2007 electro tracks (at least the vocal is good). I am sure it will be coming up in the dance number 1s of the 00s thread in a while. However this kind of minimal electro stuff in 2007 was such a comedown for me from the more lively house of the year before such as Make A Move on Me, Watchin, Thunder In My Heart Again, Love Don't Let Me Go and Tell Me Why etc.

Ed's album is really a mix bag but at least it has a few decent songs
Happier, New Man, Perfect, Supermarket flowers and the singles are ok
but I really hate it when he tries to rap
or his fake Irish folk songs

Little Mix is a British girl group formed in 2011 during the eighth series of the UK version of The X Factor. They are the first and, so far, only group to win the competition. Biography

Neo-blues & soul singer Rory Graham was born and raised in the small town of Uckfield in the south-east of England. Growing up on early blues and soul, he taught himself to sing by mimicking Muddy Waters, before discovering hip-hop. Starting out in music at age 15 as an MC with a local drum'n'bass crew, he progressed to hip-hop open-mike nights in nearby Brighton, where he later moved, teaming up with local hip-hop crew the Rum Committee. At the same time, he continued to practice singing in private. Aged 19, he took part in a blues open-mike night at the encouragement of his father, and the rapturous response to his singing boosted his confidence enough to make him consider it as a career rather than rapping. Graham's moniker came from his childhood memories of he and his grandfather watching repeats of the British '60s sitcom Steptoe and Son, about a pair of rag-and-bone men -- dirt-poor street collectors who in bygone days would go around gathering up rubbish in an attempt to find useful rags, bones, and scrap metal that could be sold to merchants for a few pennies. With his massive bulk, tattoo-covered arms, nose ring, shaved head, enormous beard, and typical garb of hoodie and jeans, Graham looked like an escapee from an early-2000s nu-metal band, but blew crowds away as soon as he opened his mouth with his deep, powerful, soulful, bluesy vocals. He released his debut EP, Bluestown, in 2012, followed by several EPs in the next few years, the highest profile of which were Wolves and Disfigured in 2015. His early releases were more acoustic, but evolved toward a more electronic sound with hip-hop-styled beats. In 2013, he signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell, allowing him to give up his day job as a carer for people with Asperger's Syndrome. His increasing profile brought him to the attention of Columbia Records, who signed him in 2016. Train is an American roots rock band from San Francisco, formed in 1993. The band currently consists of Patrick Monahan (vocals), Luis Maldonado (guitar), Hector Maldonado (bass, vocals), Drew Shoals (drums), and Jerry Becker (keyboards, guitar). As of the summer of 2016, founding member Jimmy Stafford (lead guitar) is currently in the band, but has decided to take some time off from full time touring and is making select appearances with the band.

With a lineup that included original members Monahan, Stafford, Scott Underwood, Rob Hotchkiss and Charlie Colin, the band achieved mainstream success with their debut album Train, which was released in 1998 with the hit "Meet Virginia". Train's third studio album, My Private Nation, released in 2003, was certified platinum in the United States with the hit "Calling All Angels". Following the departures of Hotchkiss and Colin, the band released their fourth album, For Me, It's You in 2006, with Brandon Bush (keyboards) and Johnny Colt (bass). Despite a generally positive reception from critics, the album was commercially unsuccessful. Because of this, Train went on a two-year hiatus from recording any new music.

In April 2012, Train released their sixth studio album titled California 37. The first single from the album entitled "Drive By" reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was a Top 10 hit in the UK, their first Top 20 single since 2009. Just under two and a half years later, in September 2014, Train released their seventh studio album titled Bulletproof Picasso. It received positive reviews from critics. However, similar to the band's fourth album For Me, It's You, it failed commercially. Despite peaking high on charts, it failed to generate any hit singles and also failed to receive an RIAA certification. It was also the band's first album without drummer and founding member Scott Underwood, who departed the band prior to recording the album. Following his departure, Drew Shoals became the new drummer of the band.

Shortly after the band's tour for Bulletproof Picasso, Train released a Christmas album exclusively on Amazon Music titled Christmas in Tahoe in November 2015. The album features 15 songs, which included covers of classic holiday hits and three original songs. In June 2016, Train released another new album titled Train Does Led Zeppelin II, which features nine songs, all of them being a cover of a hit song by the famous rock band Led Zeppelin.

The band's tenth studio album, titled A Girl, a Bottle, a Boat, was released in January 2017.

Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band that originated in Los Angeles, California. It currently consists of lead vocalist Adam Levine, lead guitarist James Valentine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, drummer Matt Flynn, and keyboardist PJ Morton. Before the current group was established, the original four members, Adam Levine (lead vocals, lead guitar), Jesse Carmichael (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Mickey Madden (bass guitar) and Ryan Dusick (drums), formed a band known as Kara's Flowers in 1994, while they were still in high school. In 2001, the band changed its image by adding guitarist James Valentine and pursuing a new direction under the name Maroon 5. After these changes, Maroon 5 signed with a subsidiary of J Records, Octone Records, and released their debut album, Songs About Jane, in June 2002. The album's lead single, "Harder to Breathe", received heavy airplay, which helped the album to debut at number six on the Billboard 200 chart. Cold is indeed a step up from Don't Wanna Know, but it still baffles me that they can put out so much mediocre music and still have hits, despite there being no hype around them as an act. Also they still manage to get top rappers on their tracks. Perplexing.

The Little Mix song sounded pretty fab, their most instant song from this era for me (I grew to really love 'Touch' but I remember thinking it was just ok on first listen) - I'm glad it looks like the awfulness of 'Shout Out To My Ex' was a blip in this era. The Zedd/Alessia song also sounded a bit better on second listen, it's fairly decent really. x

Biography

Michael Omari (born 26 July 1993), better known by his stage name Stormzy, is an English grime and hip hop artist. He won Best Grime Act at the 2014 and 2015 MOBO Awards and was named as an artist to look out for in the BBC's influential Sound of 2015 list. His most successful song to date is the BPI gold-selling "Shut Up", which was initially released as a freestyle on YouTube. 'Solo Dance' just sounds like another uninspired Galantis ripoff but it's at least not as offensive as that Sigala/Digital Farm Animals song (or most of Galantis' actual songs for that matter), just a bit meh.

'Slide' sounded even better second time hearing it thank you Calvin name power for getting a Frank Ocean song to chart (as it sounds far more like a Frank song than a Calvin song lol)

Neo-blues & soul singer Rory Graham was born and raised in the small town of Uckfield in the south-east of England. Growing up on early blues and soul, he taught himself to sing by mimicking Muddy Waters, before discovering hip-hop. Starting out in music at age 15 as an MC with a local drum'n'bass crew, he progressed to hip-hop open-mike nights in nearby Brighton, where he later moved, teaming up with local hip-hop crew the Rum Committee. At the same time, he continued to practice singing in private. Aged 19, he took part in a blues open-mike night at the encouragement of his father, and the rapturous response to his singing boosted his confidence enough to make him consider it as a career rather than rapping. It's much more chilled and less lively to my ears than Galantis or the Sigala/DFA song. It just sounds like formulaic tropical house to me!
