I suspect that was more on the part of The Sun than the parents. But that’s pure speculation on my behalf. I definitely agree there’s an element (be it conscious or unconscious) of homophobia in the reporting.

And paying quite a lot of money as well. This isn't uncommon for older men with money (both straight and gay), but in this case it happens to be a very public figure; which also causes a big power imbalance. Is what Huw did illegal? No. However, it is morally wrong. The witch hunt triggered by the Sun was horrid and I hope they get sued heavily. The reporting felt very homophobic as well. Just coming off pride month to have the likes of the Sun churn up discourse and hatred, urgh. Watch the government use this to distract from their immigration bills or something worse. I don't feel sorry for Huw as he should've known something like this could've happened. Based on his situation he seems to be a closeted man which grew up with a very strict christian/catholic background, which is a very difficult thing to comes to terms with (likely contributes to why he suffers with depression). The fact he's married with children likely means he never felt like he could come out and live his authentic life. This has all accumulated to what has now happened.

If photos were exchanged before they were 18 then the met could have found there to be a crime. They didn’t. The source of the allegation, the sun, has walked back their implications of inappropriate photos being shared by someone under 18 (BUT above the age of consent) likely because their legal department finally woke up. All of this is based off the retelling of the story by a third party with an axe to grind who received unknown compensation for providing this „story“ Where was this energy over Jake Daniels? That wasn’t sensationalised front page news for a week was it? I wonder why??? Is it perhaps because the sun has a f***ing agenda and wants to damage the bbc? Is it because they sniffed out a bit of sensationalism with a closeted star and they just love to push people out of the closet before they’re ready? Is it because there’s neither a crime nor a story here perhaps? And I can’t at the allegation that the photos were paid for on OF. That’s hilarious. If that was a crime half the men in the country would be up on charges.

The point also made earlier about how others like Rylan have had their reputation dragged through the mud is also depressing and shameful, I think The Sun knew perfectly what they were doing when they ran/exaggerated the story but declined to name the person accused of criminality. Sadly social media platforms have been built around monitising anger and fear, there is little genuine concern from these people about the welfare of the young people involved nor anybody else that this media storm will have affected negatively, all about the clicks and advertising revenue and then 'move on, nothing to see here'.

So IF - which has in any case been denied by the person in question and since walked back by the Sun - the person in question WAS 17 they would be a 17 year old who had lied about their age and deliberately presented as at least 18 in order to get on the platform in the first place. Anybody using a dating app or in an adult space has the presumption that everyone else using it is an adult because that is literally the legal barrier for entry and THUS it seems absolutely ridiculous to accuse somebody who only socialised with presumed adults in an adults only space as a paedophile - aka someone who deliberately pursues minors.
