I can't believe this is happening!
 One of my favourite childhood books. Hopefully they make a better job of the TV series than the film because that was pretty terrible. Although, Jim Carrey did a brilliant job of playing Olaf. It's just the plot was butchered and I don't think it was executed very well. The teaser trailer has made a little excited for this, I'm not gonna lie.

Malina Weissman (from 'Supergirl' appaz) will play Violet and Louis Hynes (newcomer) will play Klaus.
Don't know what Louis looks like but Malina looks like perfect casting from her appearance! Things are actually happening. :cheeseblock: |

Neil Patrick Harris is coming back to TV to make life miserable for the children of Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
The How I Met Your Mother actor has landed the key role of menacing Count Olaf in a drama series based on Lemony Snicket's beloved novels. Harris closed the deal recently after protracted negotiations with producers Paramount TV, reports Deadline. His Count Olaf is a menacing miser who attempts to swindle the three orphaned Baudelaire children out of their family fortune by any means necessary. The villainous role was previously played by Jim Carrey in the unconnected movie Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Harris's co-stars in Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events will be Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes as the adventurous orphans Violet and Klaus Baudelaire, as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer's K Todd Freeman as Mr Poe. This is Harris's first episodic TV role since How I Met Your Mother ended two years ago. Last fall, he hosted NBC's short-lived variety show Best Time Ever. A Series of Unfortunate Events - which will be directed by Addams Family filmmaker Barry Sonnenfeld - has no premiere date yet. |

the books were amazing (even though i never did finish all of them) the one's i read (most of them) certainly proved popular reads, and maybe now this is coming back i might reread them |

I really don't think it'll be 13 episodes per book otherwise the children will be adults by the time they get round to filming the later books.

I was having this discussion the other week, I can see them leaving a large chunk of the books out because it would look incredibly messy for them one episode in a school to the next of them being in a Carnvial.
I'm not overly fussed, I just want this now and I want a satisfying ending. |

I would say that this is the best bet if they're looking to do more than one/two series:
Series 1: Books 1-4 Series 2: Books 5-7 Series 3: Books 8-10 Series 4: Books 11-13 That way the twins are only featured in and are the focus of one series and the show sees a gear change with them being on the run in Series 3 As long as we get all the books I'll be happy.

Around 3 or 4 episodes per book could work! Likewise, I just want them to cover all the books. Here's hoping the show is a success!

The first series consists of 8 episodes which will all be available on Friday 13th January which is a very suitable date for the series! Neil Patrick Harris has said that the first series consists of the first four books (The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, The Wide Window, The Miserable Mill) with two episodes for each book. Very happy with that news as the wait for the series to actually be shown has gone on FOREVER (it was first announced in 2014) so at least it means we get to see something beyond the first three books (which were of course the only ones done for the movie). I was worried that the series would finally come and we would just get the same three books done again and then have to wait even longer for the rest to be done! I'm not to keen on Patrick Warburton playing Lemony Snicket though, I think Jude Law gave a more accurate interpretation. Maybe I've now just associated Jude Law with the role but Patrick is a bit too of a polished, showbiz, theatrical American. Anyway, so glad this is actually happening and we finally finally finally have a date. Neil Patrick Harris has also said it's a lot darker than the film and it's one of the most expensive series Netflix have done. (He said most expensive but I think that record goes to The Crown where they've spent like $100m I think). They're basically hoping it will appeal to every age range as well which is kind of what the books do.

I really just feel like there's too few episodes for this, I'd like the seasons to be longer than they are going to be. Two episodes per book just doesn't sound like it can do them justice for me, but am I alone in that? Maybe if it were longer it'd drag horribly.
