Fickle Friends’ Brooklyn becomes the second consecutive #1 to reign for three weeks, following the XX’s On Hold. Gabrielle Aplin maintains her peak at #2, while Louis Tomlinson, below her, rises to a new peak of #3 with Just Hold On. Liz Loughrey also rises up 9 places to #4 this week, while Dua Lipa’s Be The One debuts into the top 5 at #5. It’s Lipa’s highest debut and, I think, highest entry to date on the chart. New entries come this week from, alongside Lipa, Estelle with Rick Ross, Prides, Soft Lit, Kronic, The Naked and Famous, Lola in Slacks, Robert Glasper with Erykah Badu and Solange with Sampha.

Lindsey Stirling and Mako with Natalola and Rat City are other new arrivals in the top 10 this week as the rest shuffle to make room. Notably, Sia’s Never Give Up drops down to #8 from #3. Burak Yeter’s Tuesday, MishCatt’s Another Dimension, Chad Valley and Glasser and long-runner Annabel Jones also fall out of the top 10 this week.

Finally, Scots are unusually well-represented in this week’s chart, with Scottish bands Prides, Vukovi and Lola in Slacks all making an appearance. Biggest story this week is the top 5 smash new entry of Dua Lipa's Be The One. It's just had a new video released, but was originally released two years ago. It's yet to be revealed whether this is to push it as a US single, or for a UK re-release. Either way, it's being picked up again now she's somewhat established in an effort to gain new fans, and with me, it's very much achieved that. The track completely passed me by in 2015, but now, I can't get enough of it. I also much prefer the 2017 video.

Top 5 and top 10 are mostly static this week otherwise, with a little shuffling, but mainly the same faces. The Naked and Famous's Laid Low re-enters to a new peak at #18, as do a few of the top 20. Joan As Police Woman's Overloaded continues its lead as longest-runner, managing a 9th consecutive week in the top 20. South African electro-swing outfit Goodluck's Find Me In The Forest is not far behind. At the very rear of the chart, Solange's Don't Wish Me Well re-enters.

On to the new entries:

Dua Lipa blasts straight in at #5. It's by far my favourite track by her, including her features.

I've been a lowkey fan of Estelle since her second album - most of us might remember American Boy from that. It was the Rick Ross feature that led me to this though. I've enjoyed his previous releases and he's actually charted - or come close to charting - a track in my end of year roundup for three years running. With this, he might make it four. It comes from Estelle's long delayed third album All Of Me, released in 2012. I wasn't really into this kind of music at the time, and it passed me by. It sounds really modern though for a song 5 years old! New at #12 this week.

Unfortunately Prides' wonderful cover of The Blue Nile's Tinseltown in the Rain isn't on Youtube, but it is available on Spotify and to buy. It's a great re-imagining of the original song. Check out their mixtape of the music of 2016 to get a feel for their sound if you don't know them already. I'm a bit of a fan. It's new at #16

Soft Lit's Only Natural doesn't seem to be on Youtube yet either, but it is here on Soundcloud - https://soundcloud.com/godmodeinternet/soft...natural-godmode
I've linked U Up, which is the track I first came across Soft Lit on. Only Natural is a bit like the Ting Tings and glam-rock era Goldfrapp. It enters at #25

Another old-new discovery. Robert Glasper, who I assume is the producer, featuring Erykah Badu, who sings basically the whole track. Lounge R&B at its best. Has a bit of a feel of Morcheeba to it, too.

Kronic's second-ever chart appearance, following Pictures with Patty Crash last year. Nikki Jean features on this one. This is straight-up EDM, Diplo-style. New at #31 this week.

Re-linking the Solange for any of her fans as it's been a while since it last charted. This is a great track and one of the most commercial/accessible on her latest, new album. Sampha produces.

Unfortunately I can't find a link for Lola in Slacks either - quite a small band it seems. The things Spotify finds for you! I'll pop it into the playlist though. Otherwise, that will do for the week! Been a busy bee so it's taken me a while to put these together. Questions and comments welcomed smile.gif

Thanks JSG!

Not sure I listen to enough albums to do a monthly album chart...might have to be over a longer time period! Just a whole load of singles and album tracks!

Good to see appreciation for the Lindsey Stirling and yes, the new Corrs track is pretty addictive! I'll look out for Gabrielle on yours wink.gif

Also, links are up for the week now :3
