What songs from artists have given them more success in the long run and taken their career to the next level. Like Dua Lipa was only doing ok with single releases up until New Rules was released but since then she is scoring bigger hits and is a bigger name. Also Calvin Harris was a fairly big name in in the UK but after We Found Love was released he became a big name worldwide and had bigger chart success.

A clear example is the Dido sample on Eminem’s Stan. No one noticed her at all and then all of sudden she had two of the biggest albums of the century.

Sinead O'Connor -Nothing compares 2 U
her first album was amazing but didn't much although she got a top 40 hit with Mandinka. Then the first single from album 2 flopped (Jump in the river) but then Nothing compares 2 U was released

in the UK

Problem kick stared Arianas.

Wrongly so but nothing from her first album made the top 40 then that made #1 and also made history becoming first #1 in the UK to include streaming sales too.

Mainstream success wise you could also say Rehab for Amy Winehouse.

Robbie Williams - Angels is an obvious example, I believe he was on the verge of being dropped by his record label before that happened.

David Gray - Babylon
Snow Patrol - Run

Both had been around for a few years but didn't break through until these tracks were released.

Robbie Williams - Angels is an obvious example, I believe he was on the verge of being dropped by his record label before that happened.

His solo career was definitely struggling to get going before Angels. I went to see him on his first solo tour at the Southampton Guildhall, a month or two before Angels was released. I only bought my ticket a few days before the gig and it was still well short of a sell-out on the day.

Blur had achieved some modest success early in their career but were in danger of being dropped before Girls And Boys rescued them.

Titanium for Sia. She had been around for a while but that really catapulted her sales wise.

Aswad and Chris de Burgh had both been going for ten years with little chart success before they had their no.1 singles in the 80s.

If we're talking about giving them an extra lease of life, 'Black Magic' sprung to mind. Little Mix were doing just fine but that shot them to a level where people realised they were here to stay and do really well.

One Day Like This was from Elbow's fourth album. Even that song took a few years before it was a big hit although it had become fairly well known.

Hardly anyone in the UK had heard of Aerosmith before Walk This Way in 1986 even though they had been popular in the USA for a decade beforehand.

These two songs were big in launching their featured artists.

Coldcut ft Lisa Stansfield - People Hold On

Adamski ft Seal - Killer
