Sunday Night At The London Palladium returnsITV revives iconic variety show
ITV is bringing back Sunday Night at the London Palladium.

Comics including Rob Brydon, Jimmy Carr, Bradley Walsh and Jack Whitehall will host the variety show, when it returns next month.

Guests booked over the six-week run include Alan Davies, Sarah Millican and Milton Jones, while musical acts include Neil Diamond, Art Garfunkel, Bryan Adams, Maroon 5 and The Script.

An ITV spokesman said: ‘Some of the UK's best-loved comics and entertainers will host one show each and introduce some of the biggest stars from music and comedy There will be jaw-dropping acts from around the world, plus surprise guests.’'

Sunday Night at the Palladium attracted audiences of up to 28 million viewers during its initial run from 1955 to 1967. Previous resident hosts included Tommy Trinder, Bruce Forsyth and Jimmy Tarbuck.

It was known for its ability to attack the biggest stars, including including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Hope and Bill Haley. TV mogul Lord Grade said axing the show was one of the biggest mistakes he made.

ITV has increasingly been looking to the past for its entertainment shows after Holly Willoughby brought back Surprise Surprise. Revivals of Name That Tune, Celebrity Squares and Catchphrase are all in the pipeline and Harry Hill tipped to be hosting a resurrected Stars In Their Eyes.

I never, ever got the clues for the prizes on 3-2-1/Dusty Bin! I think even a University Challenge winner would have been hard-pressed to get them!

3-2-1 was amazing in that it never had less than 12 million viewers in it's 11 year run and only the new snobby bosses at itv forced it off air as they thought it was too downmarket for their rebrand.
