Thought James Blake woulda been no1!
I presume he had less pre-orders than the other that debuted ahead of him as it didn't go up for pre-order until pretty recently - he is up to #4 now (behind dodie, The Greatest Showman and Now! 101).
Really hoping that he has a chance of going top 5 this week, the highest he's ever charted before is #8.
What were the no8 sales? Prob needs around 5-6k only to make the top 5!
The thing is now with HMV in administration, album sales are going to take a tumble, not sure what share HMV contributes to the chart.
15,940 James Blake (#9, 2011)
9,599 Overgrown (#8, 2013)
5,373 The Colour in Anything (#13, 2016)
In regards to his last album, Alan Jones wrote this at the time:
Cheers Liam!

BMTH heading for #1 likely with a few other top 10 entries from Rudimental, Backstreets, Rival Sons, Trevor Horn etc
two albums in that top 10 featuring a cover of Everybody Wants To Rule the World though :'''')
Bring Me should be comfortably #1. Not sure what to expect sales wise, I think their last album opened with 40k and I think there's a few formats for the album. Maybe similar sort of sales?
Rudimental will have a fall from grace but I think they should still clear 5k+ to make the Top 10.

1. Giggs - BIG BAD...
Not many big Releases this week, wonder whether this may challenge for #1 overall.
Brace yourselves, Rocketman is out in May, probably the next soundtrack album to grace the charts for 2019 based on Elton John
It won't be as big as TGS or even ASIB. I imagine it will be on Boh Raph levels.
Surprised after the failure to release Holidays Are Coming!!
1 Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper - A Star Is Born Soundtrack
After the Oscars this (and Bohemian Rhapsody) should make Top 5 overall again this week.
Are we gonna get an actual raksu album or is this what they doing releasing a lot of EPs waiting for something to stick
Some Talk Talk Albums starting to make an impression on iTunes chart after the sad news that Mark Hollis has died:
(EDIT) - Apologies for the indulgence of another update but I was a fan and impressed to see the level of the interest in Talk Talk's Recording output:
Now,
4 Talk Talk - Spirit Of Eden
13 Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
16 Talk Talk - The Very Best Of
19 Talk Talk - The Colour Of Spring
23 Mark Hollis - Mark Hollis
31 Talk Talk - Essential
110 Talk Talk - It's My Life (Remastered 1997)
210 Talk Talk - The Party's Over
308 Talk Talk - Natural History - The Very Best of Talk Talk
320 Talk Talk - Asides Besides
A Star Is Born Back at #1
(edit didn’t see it had already been posted!).
surprised Natural History is so low, that was Talk Talk's biggest selling album back in the day
Spirit Of Eden was trending on Twitter last night.
I'd guess maybe a few people have done what I did and finally picked up those last two albums in response to the news (I already had the Mark Hollis solo album).
1. Tom Walker - What a Time To Be Alive
2. Kevin Murphy & Laurence O'Keefe - Heathers the Musical (Original West End Cast Recording)
3. Hozier - Wasteland, Baby!
6. While She Sleeps - SO WHAT?
7. Bryan Adams - Shine a Light
12. In Flames - I, The Mask
19. Weezer - Weezer (Black Album)
22. The Japanese House - Good at Falling
31. Sundara Karma - Ulfilas' Alphabet
5 Solange - When I Get Home
17 Little Simz - GREY Area
Crazy competitive week
Compared to last week
Which almost had no big releases
I can see Tom Walker being official #1 album this week
With some new entries going in between #5 and #10
I still think Ariana, TGS and A Star Is Born will be at positions 2-4 probably in that order.
Album Sales on iTunes must be so low these days that snippets of music on TV can push Albums up the lower reaches of the Top 500 - tonight a question on Pointless Celebrities on Country music seems to have boosted Glen Campbell (#77), Lady Antebellum (#149) and Faith Hill (#158) as well as Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash.

449. Charly - EP
455. World's on Fire (Live)
Glad to see ‘No Tourists’ getting a boost, I thought it might get overlooked- it should also do well on physicals too as the official store had loads of different bundles.
Yeh I listened to the new album today as well, it's a great listen tbf! Hopefully it and the Singles Collection sell well this week!

Sigrid 2
Foals 3
Dave 5
James Morrison 6
David Gray 7
Maren Morris 15
Paul Weller 22
Flight Of The Concords 29
Top 10 clearout this week. Probably all new entries from this week aside from Tom dropping out.
Dave will be the most streamed I’d imagine so I’d not be surprised if he debuts higher than many above on downloads / sales.
OMG so excited Dido is no.1 on anything in 2019.
Tom Walker back to #1, his appearance on 'The One Show' last night will have given the Album a big boost.
Didos #1 again now following Jonathon Ross
Also noticed her Greatest Hits is at 48
Life for rent 161 and No Angel 180
Also several MJ albums are appearing in the chart with Number Ones the highest at 24
The Essential is at 78
History is at 81
Thriller is at 159
This is a very interesting week albums wise - a lot of high NEs in the chart no doubt and I don't think Tom Walker will be an album that will fall THAT much.
James Morrison up to #3 after appearance on BBC Breakfast this morning, seems to have stepped up his Promo as it looks like he will miss Top 10 overall - really should have deferred Release to next week.
Dave is #1 now
It was a bit too much to expect Dido to hold it. I hope she still manages no.2 in the official chart.
I didn't actually realise James Morrison's album was out this week until I saw it in a supermarket. Sainsbury's unfortunately.
Dave coming through with the social media campaign.

Jack Savoretti to have a decent shot at the #1 album this week probably? His last two albums both went top 10 and this one seems to have more promo / 'buzz' about it.
I’m thinking Jack will be number one or top three.
Sophie low top ten as well.
Savoretti has had crazy lots of good promo, he should grab the #1

Carpenters are #1 with the Orchestra album and their GOLD Greatest Hits is at #13.
Why is that?
Ah I see, thought it was just because of Mothers Day!

Marina at #6
On Apple Music
Catfish are #1
P!nk #2

Pleasantly surprised that Marina is still top 10 on iTunes and top 20 on Apple Music. Maybe she won't have a complete and utter disaster this week after all.

Gwon lucy hopefully she can do well with this
P!nk back to top all ready, suspect she may grab a second week at #1 overall.
Vampire Weekend have never had a #1 (or #2) album before, the hype for this one might be a bit higher as they've been gone for a while but I'm not sure they'll be able to beat P!nk's second week sales. Should be their first top 2 album though hopefully.
just checked and their last album was a #3 but with high opening sales of 27,805, that was more than 5 years ago so things have changed a lot and hard to compare
This Life has been doing well on iTunes, and with it in the Spotify chart today - hopefully it will make the top 100 officially.

Gareth Emery relevant enough for the iTunes top 20 *.* (up to #20). Not that it has any chance of charting officially but that's good to see.
#1 is the new Clubland compilation 100% Clubland Classix.
Adele's albums will probably go top 40 next week, special programme on Channel 5 earlier.

Thought Elton would have done very well, when's the film out?
Should hang around for a fair while!

Did not expect 'RTRN II JUNGLE' to be anywhere near that high considering C&S have totally abandoned the mainstream! Was only expecting low top 40 or so for this album but maybe it could be like top 20 based on that?
I presume Lewis should get a third week at #1 but Skepta should have a solid shot at #2 again. Hope Denzel Curry's album will chart somewhere too (his last album got to #62).
Susan Boyle should get a big boost after BGT on Sunday.
New Releases
1 Avicii - TIM
2 Jonas Brothers - Happiness Begins
5 Mostack - Stacko
7 Jamie Cullum - Taller
10 The Divine Comedy - Office Politics
12 Motionless In White - Disguise
15 AURORA - A Different Kind of Human (Step 2)
19 Dinosaur Pile-Up - Celebrity Mansions
28 Santana - Africa Speaks
42 Silversun Pickups - Widow's Weeds
50 Tyga - Legendary
Jonas Brothers have now overtook.
I imagine Jonas Bros will be higher on physicals as well.
Glad to see Motionless in White up high as well!
1. Madonna (also #16)
2. Bruce Springsteen
3. Bastille
If the official Top 3 could look like that next Friday, that would be perfect.
Bruce #1 now but Madonna likely to reclaim top spot later tonight (after her appearance on The Graham Norton Show). Personally would prefer Bastille to get the number 1 overall (their set in the Isle Of Wight Festival is on Sky Arts tomorrow night).
Some of Michael Jackson's albums might just re-enter after Sundays TV special marking his 10 year's since his death.
Anyone else think Madonna could struggle to get a Top 3 album come Friday? #2 on iTunes and nowhere to be seen on Spotify...
Think it will be a Top 3 of New entries with Madonna finishing third.
I wouldn't under estimate Madonna, she has multiple physical edtions out there! Itunes is not true indicator of who will be number one anymore. So I think she'll have it in the bag, we had some promo happen this week two interviews & a TV show that was recorded live. Rave reviews past few days as well
Madonna no1 please ☺
Bruce has been #1 on Amazon pre-orders for weeks and will no doubt have a Father's Day boost (funnily enough I think Rebel Heart was released on Mother's Day week). I'd love Madonna to be #1 but I just can't see it. I hope she can hold #2 though.
P!nks back up to #5.
Tour effect and a mixture of the video for 90 Days.
New Releases
1 Will Young - Lexicon
2 Mark Ronson - Late Night Feelings
5 The Raconteurs - Help Us Stranger
7 Hot Chip - A Bath Full of Ecstasy
10 Two Door Cinema Club - False Alarm
11 Hollywood Vampires - Rise
36 Ludovico Einaudi - Seven Days Walking: Day 4
50 Nafe Smallz - Good Love
94 Hatchie - Keepsake
170 Holy Ghost! - Work
237 Nimmo - The Power
An interesting week, Will Young will likely sell enough physicals to prevail. Thought Two Door Cinema would be doing better but think their albums usually don't make the top spot?!
The previous Two Door Cinema Club albums peaked at 24, 2 and 5.
Cool, thanks. Didn't think they had a no1!
Madame X is now 24 climbed around 15 places or so since God Control video.
Just noticed Jedward have an album at #33 - Voice Of A Rebel.
I have hopes Kylie will be the new Number 1 on this chart very soon.
1 Kylie Minogue - Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection
2 The Black Keys - "Let's Rock"
3 Thom Yorke - ANIMA
6 Chris Brown - Indigo
14 Georgia Box - Coca - EP
25 Foy Vance - From Muscle Shoals
30 Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Bandana
Great start for Kylie Should get a HUGE boost after Sunday’s performance too
Good start for kylie.
I forgot Kylie was on Sunday Glasto - good chance of no1 then with it being no1 here already and she will be a good physical seller!
Lewis has moved to #1 following his Glastonbury performance - hopefully Kylie reclaims it tomorrow after she performs.
Looking like Kylie vs Lewis for official number one perhaps?
Intrigued to see if Janet has a impact her set isn’t going down well apparently.
wasn't expecting Kylie to do that well, on account on this not being her first GH, but looks like she has a chance at #1
The Killers, the real winners so far based on Glastonbury impact:
3 The Killers - Direct Hits
13 The Killers - Hot Fuss
19 The Killers - Direct Hits (Deluxe)
36 The Killers - Sam's Town
43 The Killers - Wonderful Wonderful
79 The Killers - Battle Born
109 The Killers - Hot Fuss (Deluxe)
144 The Killers - Wonderful Wonderful (Deluxe)
151 The Killers - Live From The Royal Albert Hall
292 The Killers - Day & Age
447 The Killers - Sawdust
Lewis streaming may well keep him at top spot.
Kylie needs a good performance at Glastonbury today go grab some sales
Kylie will get a boost regardless - on social media there seems to be so much good feeling towards Kylie and the performance, media coverage will be huge and she has fan power this week of people buying multiple copies in addition to any extra sales generated by glastonbury.
The Killers have pushed her down to #3 on iTunes now.
Suspect Lewis Capaldi will triumph overall this week, Kylie would have had a better chance with new material, a twelfth compilation Album is pushing it a bit for me.
Personally looking forward to see the impact The Cure performance has tonight, one of the best Live bands over the years and their classic Songs have stood the test of time.
Kylie will be number 1, her fans will have ordered 5 cassettes to shove in a draw and never get played.
Kylie is back at #1

5. Various Artists - Tiny Changes: A Celebration of Frightened Rabbit's 'the Midnight Organ Fight'

11. New Order - ∑(No,12k,Lg,17Mif) New Order + Liam Gillick: So it goes..
14. Banks - III
To be fair, I don't think Ed was ever not going to go straight to #1
I fear for sales through the summer until Taylor's release in 23/8! Streaming will just keep the usual suspects on 10k!
611. Isaac Dunbar - balloons don't float here
Hopefully this can keep climbing Was down at 800-odd earlier and one of the tracks was included in NMF *.*
I’m feeling like Ed’s got the #1 album now until Taylor releases
Lewis will probably be #2 most of those weeks as well (hopefully not next week bc Freya deserves to slay).
ASIB at 7 and 47
May rise more in the morning. It had it’s Sky Cinema premiere in the UK and I believe it’s NOW TV one too?
A Star Is Born Soundtrack at #4 (highest album after Ed as 2 and 3 are compilations) and #23

Doesn't this usually happen, the now album is behind the artist album the first day then over takes. Now isn't the sort of album to get heavy pre-orders I'd say but is the sort to get a lot of casual sales.
didn't know IGGY AZALEA had a new album out

Feels like metal is getting more and more popular - loads of metal bands having their highest charting albums ever recently.
I've seen a few young people recently wearing Sabaton shirts and hoodies, they definitely seem to be one of the more popular ones with younger fans.
That’ll be Ed Sheeran going straight back to number one

38. Ezra Furman - Twelve Nudes
39. Witt Lowry - Nevers Road
44. Natasha Bedingfield - Roll with Me
TOOL's biggest strength would be in physical sales! But as someone pointed out elsewhere the CD version is apparently £80 which is not going to help them.
Don't know much about TOOL either until they were discussed in here, seem to be big in the US so that usually translates over here. As you say thoigh they are a niche act so will have decent fanbase sales.
TOOL have big, loyal fan base. Not surprised by their performance.
As much as I'd love Lana to get it (the album is sensational), I can't see her doing over 25k, and I'd say Tool would be pushing over 30k.
Lana is finally #1 on iTunes.
Sorry but why does Adele have 21 and 25 in the top 20?

Sam Fender already at #1! Emeli Sande at #2
Sam is going to have a massive first week
Ollys one of the biggest album artists of the decade though
He’s a fair few million sellers so him beating Emeli wasn’t that big a shock. If anyone was to beat her he’s someone I could sort of respect anyways. Did her last album go platinum in the end?
Emeli managing top 5 in my opinion would be a success this time around. I don’t know anyone who actually knows she has an album out tbh outside This forum.
I’d love her to actually enter at #2 behind Sam but I think Ed and Post will overtake her with streams.
Emeli is simply looking for sales outside of this forums normal niche - she's advertised a lot on daytime to and is on daytime orientated shows and the radio 2 playlist!

Emeli has started falling now, down to #3 - Sam Fender is still at #1!
Sam Fender won’t be falling from the top spot until Liam releases his album on Friday. Also he’s holding the #1 and #2 position of Amazon for his standard and signed CD (which has now just sold out). Can’t wait for the first week sales.
Does the Mercury Prize that's announced tonight have any affect on the albums chart anymore?
The last three winners all re-entered the top 15 after winning (Skepta to #13, Sampha to #7 and Wolf Alice to #15) although the revival of particularly the latter two was very brief. Of course Dave is still in the chart anyway, so he'll probably have a similar effect to Skepta, spiking higher up the chart then quickly receding back to where it currently is within a couple of weeks.
I can imagine if they chose a commercial winner it could help it a lot better especially Dave who has sold decently since release on streams especially.

43. Lewis Capaldi - Bruises - EP
kinda dead week in both singles and albums, strange considering it's late September
Keane could have waited a week
The Beatles for #1 tbh.
Big climb for Noel Gallagher's EP up to #3.
does the noel ep qualify for the album charts? never remember the rules when it comes to eps
His last one didn't so I presume this one won't either. I think these EPs may be in the limbo of being too long to count as singles but too short to count as albums so they end up counting for neither chart but I may be wrong about that (the last one may have counted to the singles chart, I don't remember - certainly didn't get him a top 100 single anyway).
a dead week for big new albums, don't see any imho
A 'win' in what way?
And now a Gallagher top 2 on the iTunes album chart!
In the way of them getting the #1 album presumably lol x
Think Liam could get a second week at the top with the promo last night on the One Show to keep it steady and Lewis Capaldi will be No2 with the promo this week and the new single release buzz.
That Top 4 tho - Liam, Lewis, Sam & Noel
And Mabel and Ellie aren't?
Lol just because they are men no doubt!
Lewis performing on Strictly tonight, album could challenge this week!!

Hopefully Elbow will be able to debut at #1 officially!
Elbow are still at #1, I imagine they've got a great chance of debuting at #1.
Mark Ronson's Late Night Feelings is also up to #2 following his BBC documentary.
Mark Ronsons album is one of the best this year imo, grown massively for me. So many potential singles!!
Not sure if Elbows previous opening sales but I imagine they are guaranteed opening at no1? Prob do between 25-40k!
I also think Elbow are a surefire #1
Last time around they did nearly 40K in Feb 2017 with Little Fictions (1 Elbow 39,643 sales)
Yeh so Should easily do around 25-30k this week!
even if they sell half of what Little Fictions did, they will still be a comfortable #1

Stereophonics will be quite likely for the official #1 this week I'd imagine
Kanye's new album is finally out now, although don't think it'll beat Stereophonics to #1 anyway (Stereophonics' last album did twice the first week sales of Kanye's), maybe another #2 though.
And Kanye has no physicals out
but urban artists don't sell physical albums
was checking now and the last 2 Stereophonics album did almost the same, Keeping the Village Alive did 44K in Sept 2015
and Scream Above the Clouds did 43K in Oct 2017... seems like their fanbase is pretty intact, so should be a pretty easy #1 for them
also checked James Blunt... His 2013 album Moon Landing opened with 41K but that preceded by his last big hit (Bonfire Heart)... his next album, The Afterlife in Mar 2017 opened with half of that, 24K, and just like this time he didn't have any hits from the album
there's also the new Rick Astley GH, if his fans are as crazy as Kylie's, he might sell a lot of physicals...
Stereophonics should comfortably go to Number 1 and it is hard to predict who will sell more between James Blunt and Rick Astley.
Rick Astley, Best o,f is re worked versions, which generally, are not as popular as Best Of Colllections that house the originals.
Here for a Stereophonics Number 1 album this week! Kanye can get lost!
Kaney has gone crazy, he's been hanging out too often with Donald Trump

can someone give me an explanation how can i non released album be in the i tunes chart?
Also does it add to the pre-orders to accumulate with the first week sales in chart?
Hope Stereophonics do get no.1. Losing out to Ball and able last time was awful.
James Blunt #1, Kanye #2, Stereophonics #3

Outside chance of Michael Kiwanuka grabbing a second #1 album maybe? Probably between him, ELO and Krept & Konan (who'll obviously do much better on streaming) for highest new entry anyway although not sure any of them will sell well enough to prevent just having Ed return to #1 or something. I suppose the ELO album could move a pretty good number of physical sales, don't remember how well their last album sold. This new Kiwanuka album has had a couple of pretty good singles, I'm here for his continued success xx
I'd be happy with ELO or Michael at #1, either way it would be another indie/alt artist at the top!
I wonder if the Children in Need album would sell enough to be #1 if it was included on the main chart?
rooting for Michael Kiwanuka but probably will be ELO
the last Kiwanuka album hit #1 but was one of the lowest #1s ever with just 11k... but I think he's a bit more popular now thanks to Big Little Lies
ELO for the number 1 this week please

just checked and the last ELO album opened with 61K on week 1 in NOV 2015,
the market was much stronger then to the point they "only" made it to #4
Looks like they'll probably make it this week then
sadly yes, would much prefer kiwanuka, just listened to the album and is stunning
Not a massive week of releases really considering it's Nov 1st!
ELO at no.1 would be remarkable. Their 'best of' compilation was no.1 a few years ago after Glastonbury but their last studio album to reach no.1 was Time in 1981 which was the first album I ever bought! Will some potential buyers of the new album be put off by its short 32 minute length? Jeff is not quite providing value for money by only putting 10 three minute songs on it.
Ah, ELO's last album's opening sales were much higher than I thought they were - obviously will be a bit lower this time but they'd need a really huge dip to not get #1 this time on a relatively dead week. Kiwanuka could still be #2 though hopefully.
When I was the age most people on this site are, I would never have imagined that I would one day see somebody refer to ELO as "indie/alt".

come on Celine!!!! beat that karaoke band
Sales for Westlife could be the fastest of the year imo!
I really didn't expect such competition from Celine Dion, considering her position, #2. Of course we don't know what's the difference between Westlife and Celine... Anyone has any indication if Spectrum is selling?
Celines #2 sales I think could be bigger than most #1 sales this year! I think she’ll hold up consistently too. It’s a shame she wasn’t releasing a week or two earlier as she’d have easily got number one in my opinion.
I can see Westlife doing around 90K and Celine 35-40K.
Were Westlife ever a big album seller? I think they may be not that far ahead of Celine (she has another verison at 15)
Beaten Spice Girls in 2000, and yes many more since then, U2, Oasis, beatles... Their albums faded the last couple of years before the split up.... I doubt it's going to shift 90.000 in one week - we haven't seen this number for a long time in the albums.. But yes i am more surprised by Celine Dion...
Celine's album is very good, and she knows her target audience
unlike Westlife... who've made in album for the wrong target audience... they had to make an album for their old fans, not for the Ed Sheeran generation
#21 now on Apple Music bjork
Westlife's album will do big numbers I'm expecting over 80k first week.
Was hoping over 80k but have to understand the climate we are in.

It might be a case of Harry being #1 on sales but Stormzy being #1 officially
I'd imagine Stormzy will have bigger streaming figures.
Harry will probably have higher physical sales though, and he has a lot more physical formats avaliable.
True and this week more than others will have significant physical sales. An interesting week lies ahead.
harry spent 12 hours at #1, he's #2 now.
Stormzy will absolutely SMASH the album chart, I don't think Harry will even come close.
Apple Music have literally splashed Stormzy everywhere and calling it 'Happy Stormzy Day'
I think Stormzy will beat Harry on streams and downloads (surprised that Harry was initially ahead on iTunes!) but Harry will comfortably win on physical sales, a question of which will outweigh the other. I could still see either getting #1.
I'm just hoping the sales are great all round!
Think harry could get highest sales for a number 2 this year
What was that? Robbie this week?
I feel like Rod and Robbie might prove competition for Harry tbh.
Stormzy will stream well but his actual sales won’t be that high he might be like #5 or something on sales only. But overall he should be #1. On streams I can see him doing like 40K at least tbh mixed with his sales too he could push for 60K. I can’t see Harry doing that.
Harry will do better on sales but less good on streams.
Stormzy will have the better chart run of the two though. Harry might debut high then drop but remain consistent in the 21-40 range of the chart. Streams will benefit Stormzy.
As far as CD sales go, Rod still top on Amazon, Stormy at 10 and Harry at 16. Supermarket sales will be high though.
Buble above robbie he wants his christmas album crown back
He was on Graham Norton lastnyt, but obv didn't perform a Christmas song. Prob help sales though a little.
Obviously a very quiet week!
