Hello there and welcome to the opening round of Buzzjack's movie awards 2015. Below are some categories where you are able to nominate up to 5 things in each category (10 for best film), these will then be totalled up and sent through to the final round where you vote for your absolute favourites. Any film released in the UK from January 1st 2015 to January 29th 2015 (I've made a pretty definitive list below to help you out but feel free to add your own if they released in the UK between those dates) excluding some of last year's awards contenders (I have also included a list of ineligible films at the bottom). The end of this round will be at the beginning of February, exact date depending on number of responses. Please PM your nominations to me, thank you! On lead actress/supporting actress split (as seem to be a few this year), I'd personally put Vikander in lead for The Danish Girl and Mara for Carol but you decide what category you think they belong in the end based on their opinion. BEST FILM (up to 10 nominations) BEST MALE LEAD PERFORMANCE (up to 5 nominations) BEST FEMALE LEAD PERFORMANCE (up to 5 nominations) BEST MALE SUPPORTING PERFORMANCE (up to 5 nominations) BEST FEMALE SUPPORTING PERFORMANCE (up to 5 nominations) BEST MALE OR FEMALE NEWCOMER (up to 5 nominations) BEST DIRECTOR (up to 5 nominations) MOST ATTRACTIVE ACTOR 2015 (up to 5 nominations) MOST ATTRACTIVE ACTRESS 2015 (up to 5 nominations) BEST ANIMATED FILM (up to 5 nominations) BEST COMEDY FILM (up to 5 nominations) BEST HORROR FILM (up to 5 nominations) BEST ACTION FILM (up to 5 nominations) BEST DRAMA FILM (up to 5 nominations) BEST SCI-FI/THRILLER FILM (up to 5 nominations) BEST VOICE PERFORMANCE (up to 5 nominations) BEST ENSEMBLE (up to 5 nominations) BEST VISUAL EFFECTS (up to 5 nominations) BEST SCRIPT (up to 5 nominations) BEST CHARACTER (up to 5 nominations) BEST HERO (up to 5 nominations) BEST SCENE IN A MOVIE (up to 5 nominations) BEST SONG (up to 5 nominations) BIGGEST BOX OFFICE SUPRISE (up to 5 nominations) BIGGEST BOX OFFICE DISASTER[/b] (up to 5 nominations) ELIGIBLE FILMS: 45 Years 99 Homes A Little Chaos A Most Violent Year A Royal Night Out A Walk In The Woods Absolutely Anything Aloha American Ultra Amy Ant-man Avengers: Age of Ultron Bad Grandpa Beasts Of No Nation Big Game Big Hero 6 Bill Bridge of Spies Blackhat Black Mass Brooklyn Burnt By the Sea Cake Carol Chappie Child 44 Christmas With The Coopers Cinderella Clouds Of Sils Maria Creed Crimson Peak Daddy's Home Danny Collins Dope Enemy Entourage Everest Ex Machina Fantastic Four Far From The Madding Crowd Fathers & Daughters Fifty Shades of Grey Focus Furious 7 Get Hard Good Kill Grandma He Named Me Malala Hitman: Agent 47 Home Hot Pursuit Hot Tub Time Machine 2 Hotel Transylvania 2 Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 In the Heart of the Sea Inherent Vice Inside Out Insidious: Chapter 3 Insurgent Into the Woods Irrational Man It Follows John Wick Joy Jupiter Ascending Jurassic World Kill The Messenger Kill Your Friends Kingsman: The Secret Service Knock Knock Krampus Lady in the Van Legend Lost River Love and Mercy Love Is Strange Macbeth Mad Max: Fury Road Magic Mike XXL Maggie Man Up Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Me, Earl And The Dying Girl Minions Miss Julie Miss You Already Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation Mommy Monsters: Dark Continent Mortdecai Mr Holmes No Escape Paper Towns Pan Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 Peppa Pig: The Golden Boots Pitch Perfect 2 Pixels Playing It Cool Poltergeist Predestination Project Almanac Regression Ricki and the Flash Ride Along 2 Room Ronaldo Run All Night San Andreas Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse Self/Less Seventh Son Shaun the Sheep Movie She's Funny That Way Sicario Sinister 2 Sisters Slow West Son Of A Gun Song Of The Sea Southpaw Spectre Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water Spooks: The Greater Good Spotlight Spy Star Wars: The Force Awakens Straight Outta Compton Strange Magic Steve Jobs Suffragette Suite Francaise Taken 3 Tangerine Ted 2 Terminator Genisys Testament Of Youth The 5th Wave The Age Of Adaline The Bad Education Movie The Big Short The Boy Next Door The Danish Girl The Diary Of A teenage Girl The Dressmaker The Duff The Face Of An Angel The Gallows The Gambler The Gift The Good Dinosaur The Good Lie The Gunman The Hateful Eight The Intern The Interview The Last Witch Hunter The Legend Of Barney Thomson The Lobster The Longest Ride The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Looking forward to voting in this, will probably leave it couple of weeks though so I can try and catch Revenant/Room/Spotlight/Creed/Maybe H8Ful Eight
Also if there is a film you want to nominate that isn't on either of the above list, please post in this thread and ask us as we may have missed it out accidentally! (For instance just realised there was no Testament Of Youth so added that ) Also please use this thread to make cases and remind others of films, particular performances you want nominated and try and convince people to see their film or remind them of their performance. A bit like a FOY (for your consideration) thing! Also feel free to use like pics and that to make it stand out more! A couple of my FOY (will do more later!): BROOKLYN Best Picture Best Actress: Saoirse Ronan Best Supporting Actor: Emery Cohen Best Supporting Actress: Julie Walters Best Script Best Drama Movie ALICIA VIKANDER (because she's been superb this year) Best Actress: The Danish Girl Best Actress: Testament Of Youth Best Supporting Actress: Ex_Machina HOME Best Picture Best Animated Picture Best Vocal Performance- Rihanna Hope you get the point |

How long do we have for this? I'm waiting to see 'Carol', 'Joy', 'Revenant', 'Danish Girl' and 'Hateful 8' at least before nominating in this!
Looking forward to this a lot though. |

Excellent.
Also, I meant 'Room' instead of 'Carol', but if I find time to watch the latter before, then bonus! EDIT: Oh and 'Kingsman' for best scene in a movie for the massive Church scene! |

Are we not gonna have a "Best Villain" or "Best Soundtrack/Soundteack Song/Score" anywhere? The latter in particular.

Didn't watch very many on the definitive list so I'll just nominate two.
Best Director - Sarah Gavron for Suffragette Best Animated Film - Big Hero 6 |

Best Song was actually meant to be on there but it looks like the category just didn't get copied and pasted accidentally! The song category I'm pretty sure was on the list of categories we we're including Anyway added that to the first post! I did think about Best Villian but the problem with that is that it could cause spoilers in case it is a surprise villian so don't think it is the best idea! |

Yeah, song was supposed to be on there but I messed up when finally compiling the list!
Didn't watch very many on the definitive list so I'll just nominate two. Best Director - Sarah Gavron for Suffragette Best Animated Film - Big Hero 6 You can nominate films that aren't on that list, that was just to give people a good idea of eligible films that they are likely to have seen! |

I had quite a bit of free time now so I have added all eligable movies to the opening post so please check again if you are struggling for movies to nominate Mostly smaller and indie movies added, loads of horrors added and a couple of bigger films such as Straight Outta Compton and Legend
Also feel free to use this thread to write the movies in the opening post you have seen to make it easier for your shortlist! http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=185262 |

I didn't actually go to the pics that much last year. If you've a foreign film category then I'll nominate The Further Adventures of Belle and Sebastian! |

My next For Your Consideration movie:
(will probably do a few eventually) AMY Best Picture Best Scene In A Movie Best Box Office Performance Hoping Amy can get a nod here despite being a documentary movie! Also would anyone be interested in a Best British Film category or not? |

Finally ordered something! Will only change my nominations for when I see new movies!
Is it just me or are the Actor categories really weak this year? I had 8 contenders for Best Actor compared to the 27 for Best Actress! Also oops at Joel Egerton missing out on two nominations for best supporting actor in 6th and 7th in my votes Movies with 3 or more nominations Brooklyn Chappie Ex_Machina Home Inside Out Kingsman: The Secret Service Joy Mad Max: Fury Road Mockingjay: Part 2 Spectre Spy Star Wars 7 Steve Jobs Testament Of Youth The Danish Girl The Good Dinosaur The Man From U.N.C.L.E Notes Two of the five films with the highest nomination tally missed out on a nomination for best picture despite the expanded field. On the other hand, 3 movies that got nominated for best picture only received 1 other nomination from me so are no on the above list It's a Brooklyn/Joy/Star Wars 7 love fest for me with these movies receiving a combined 32 nominations between them! Melissa McCarthy was very very unlucky to miss out on a Best Actress nomination due to how tough the category was. Quite a lot only just missed out in a big battle for 5th spot (the top 4 were locked) |

Deadline is 12 February in just under a month Not expecting too many to vote now due to all of us wanting to catch more movies but please start getting them in early February at the latest!
I'm submitting mine on the 6th February after I've seen Spotlight! Aiming to see Spotlight, Creed, Revenant, Room, Big Short (all definites) and maybe The 5th Wave, Carol & Bridge Of Spies Also please can we have some more posts for people campaigning for movies to increase hype |

Can I push for Jacob Tremblay to be included in "Best Actor" as opposed to "Supporting" please?

Seeing Creed & The Big Short this coming weekend and Spotlight the one after hopefully then I'll be ready to submit!
Going to do a For Your Consideration for a movie which probably won't garner much attention (but everyone should see!!!) Tangerine Best Film Best Female Lead Performance - Kitana Kiki Rodriguez Best Female Supporting Performance - Mya Taylor Best Male or Female Newcomer - Kitana Kiki Rodriguez & Mya Taylor Best Director - Sean S. Baker And if there was a Best Soundtrack/Score category I'd be campaigning for that too! |
