This is a pretty good album. I’m glad to see the album tracks are leaning away from their indie rock sound, which was getting tired and predictable. I love the techno and garage influences.

This was a joy to listen to, I can see some being put off by the length - but I really enjoyed the whole thing. George did wonders on the instrumental tracks! He played some more on a livestream recently, I'd love to see a solo album of those.
My favourite album tracks are Roadkill, Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy) and Then Because She Goes. This video is the start of an interesting project. "The 1975 and Ben Ditto have curated an online exhibition of 15 artists responding to tracks from NOACF" - the first one here of "Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy" is from Most Dismal Swamp, and the explanation for their choices are in the YouTube description! |

As always with The 1975 albums I find them so long it's quite difficult to get through in one listen! Really enjoying the whole variety of genres on this album, they really are a genreless band who can release anything.
My favourite new songs I think are Shiny Collarbone, The End (Music for Cars), What Should I Say and Having No Head. Definitely need to cherry-pick a few of the songs at a time. Some of the tracks that have been released as promos are sounding a lot better in the album - namely Jesus, the Birthday Party and Me and You. |

Oh yeah the transition of Streaming into The Birthday Party was brilliant!
An interesting fact about Shiny Collarbone is that they tried to license a sample of Cutty Ranks for it, but Cutty decided to just rerecord it just for them! |

Maybe he had nothing better to do recently? i've not heard the sample before - is it a famous one? |

I believe it's this one:
Christopher Cross' Sailing is also sampled on 'Bagsy Not in Net' - not that I'm familiar with the original haha. |

The actual album is amazing but ruined by all the self indulgent random interludes and instrumentals etc., - thank god for playlists so I can cut out all the junk.

Very impressed with the quality of this album! None of the tracks so far had clicked with me but listening to them all together really works. Those dance tracks are amazing

This whole era has just been extremely tedious for the most part, if the songs they thought were good enough to be singles are so uninteresting for the most part ('Frail State Of Mind' aside, and I suppose 'People' too but that doesn't stand out in a good way) then I really dread to imagine how mind numbing it'd be to sit through the whole 22 songs.
It's a real shame, I haven't always loved their music but for better or for worse it was never this boring before. |

I quite agree but I feel like we're in the minority here. I'll give it another listen at some point but I'm not expecting to like it much more on a second listen than my first. I'm in this boat too. Had a listen this afternoon... I mean it was alright, but the standout tracks here would never have been singles on the previous 2 albums for a start. I found myself enjoying the instrumentals more than a lot of the tracks with vocals. All in all, it was long, and dull, really. Will give it a listen again tomorrow and see if my opinion changes. |

I know Matty was inspired to make the dance songs by listening to Burial, so maybe he’d be up some people’s street?

The CD has just been reduced to £4.99 on Amazon due to the chart battle with KSI - guess they want to make sure he’s not going to get a last minute surge in sales on his CD from his official store

Enjoyed the album more on 2nd listen, there are just so so many tracks to take in, on top of some singles that on the most part I couldn't get into (though "If You're Too Shy" is clicking with me a lot more than the others have).
Hope they do beat KSI to number 1, but more to the point, I'm curious to see how they'll perform in week 2 after the previous album had that humongous drop from the top 1 back in 2018!! Though that was in the run up to Christmas, if that even means anything anymore... |

I imagine it will have a similar drop, but there are more vinyl versions releasing in a few weeks - so should climb again.
