BJSC members may recognise her name as she was sent to BJSC a few months ago, iirc.



So this song has all of a sudden just blown up and zoomed straight to the top of US iTunes. It's quite good, a bit boring in parts but I get the "early Mariah" comments, except it's not as strong/as whole sounding as Mariah's songs. I put it down to her thin vocals. It's very much if, Esmee Denters was to cover/put her own spin on 'Heartbreaker' or 'Loverboy' or something.

I don't even get how this song is storming US iTunes or more, the UK iTunes? There's not much hype surrounding it and certainly not heavy airplay and neither artists on the track are huge as well...

Song wise, "Put Your Hearts Up" is certainly better as this one is nothing but a Mariah Carey track really.

Very bizarre success although this is actually really good, I thought it WAS Mariah at first! And I shamefully liked Put Your Hearts Up too!

This has now grown on me in a major way too after hearing it a few times. I don't even like Mariah but I just love the vibe coming from this and how it isn't a massive banger (which is why it took so long to click admittedly).

This really is a grower. It's bizarre how it's just shot up the charts all of a sudden though, given that she's a relatively unknown artist to many (Nickeloden days and viewers exempt). Crazy, it's a good piece of pop music though.

Around 8 years since I properly discovered Ariana then my friend was obsessed with the song and it soundtracked our GCSE science lessons for a while this era was so underrated in the U.K. but did well for Ari in the U.S. - with this being a top 10 hit and the album getting to #1. I think all her leads have charted top 10 there

Do you know what's so weird about that is I found my iPod Nano a couple of a days ago in a pencil case tucked away in a draw in the spare room and I thought I must charge it to see what's on it, but I can't find the cable for the life of me.

Were you allowed to listen to music while working? I always wish we were although I probably would have been crucifed by my classmates for my music taste.

Ha mine is definitely lying around somewhere too - I only remember selling my first one which was silver rather than pink.

In general we weren't supposed to but we had exceptions for more laidback lessons. However, I think we were just sneaky about it, sat quite near the back and I'd only ever have one headphone, trying to tuck the wire into my blazer and putting my long hair on top of it too AirPods would've been so handy back in the day!
