A thread looking at songs which have seen a significant uplift in sales/chart position after they were featured on TV, either within an advert, a performance (either by the original artist or someone covering it), or played in the background as part of a performance.
Obvious ones I can think of is Adele's "Make You Feel My Love" peaking at #4 after a performance of it on X Factor in 2010, and Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" peaking at also #4 after a performance of it on Britain's Got Talent in April 2011. Any other examples you can think of, in terms of significant uplifts? |

An obvious one is Fleur East's 'Sax' which was the ASDA adverts theme tune.
Also, Ellie Goulding's cover of 'Your Song' which was the theme tune to John Lewis' yearly advert and peaked at number 2. |

Sex On Fire by Kings of Leon was rebounded into the top 5, 11 months after release because of X Factor.
All of Me by John Legend did something similar I believe, after about 6 months? |

Not quite with Sex On Fire, it shot back to #6. John Legend went all the way back up to #4 from I think it was Strictly or some dancing show. |

I seem to recall the same happened to 'Jar of Hearts', which is why it matched its peak of #4 so many weeks after peaking their initially). And on the subject of John Legend, let's not forget 'Ordinary People' (thanks to The Voice I believe). 'I Won't Give Up', 'Say Something' and 'A Thousand Years' are popular ones that never fail to serge up iTunes after an X Factor performance |

All of Me surged back up after John Legend performed it on X Factor! Only a true chart saviour *.*
Beneath Your Beautiful got a very notable boost from Labrinth and Emeli Sandé's performance of it on X Factor too, it wasn't doing much beforehand at all and the performance made it into the huge hit it became. |

"Stay" by Shakespears Sister returning to the charts after Cher Lloyd sang it on The X Factor 18 years after it had left the charts reaching No.12.

Journey - "Don't Stop Believin'" became a hit in 2009 because of X Factor and Glee. Goo Goo Dolls - "Iris" became a hit in 2011, also because of X Factor
