Really looking forward to this, season 1 was so gripping!

Posted by: jase. Aug 18 2017, 07:44 PM

f*** me, I can't believe we STILL don't have a premiere date laugh.gif It began filming late LAST summer I believe. Ridiculous.

Posted by: Klaus Aug 19 2017, 11:14 AM

Not sure what to make of this still. It was an amazing first series that resulted in one of my favourite finales in years! However, I'm not sure what story there is now. I'm ready to have my doubts overturned though, the trailer certainly looks good!

and yeh, it started filming September last year so I'm not really sure why there's been such a delay! It looks like it will be airing in September though.

Posted by: Baytree Aug 19 2017, 02:44 PM

I'll definitely watch it. I know I enjoyed the first series but I've forgotten most of the characters.

Ideal excuse to watch that again before this series airs. Anyone know if it's on demand anywhere?

Posted by: jase. Aug 23 2017, 02:49 PM

It's back Tuesday September 5th @ 9pm on BBC1 biggrin.gif

Posted by: Liаm Aug 23 2017, 03:28 PM

Omg so soon YAS

Posted by: burbe Aug 23 2017, 07:40 PM

I didn't think it would be until October so YES!

Posted by: liamk97 Sep 5 2017, 09:05 PM

Wow! That was bloody fantastic! Such intelligent scripting; the mind games between Gemma and her ex was fascinating to watch and quite comical at times.

Gripping throughout and I'm so excited to see what's next.

Posted by: Jack Sep 5 2017, 11:36 PM

Great first episode, heartbreaking and so frustrating to watch at times too. Really excited to see what else is to come now.

Posted by: kye Sep 5 2017, 11:50 PM

i've never known a show wind me up so much! the writing & acting is terrific, i genuinely feel like Simon is the lowest of the low, an absolutely terrible person & that can't be easy to act. the things that he says to her.. it makes my blood boil.
really can't wait for her to find her strength & give him what's coming to him. i feel like, at this point, she's willing to do whatever to make him squirm. truly a woman pushed to the edge.

Posted by: Liаm Sep 5 2017, 11:57 PM

I totally agree with frustration as a feeling, it's weird to use it positively but they write it and just generally craft it so well, from the dialogue to the small details like what's in each shot, the length of shots, even the use of silence, it all makes you feel an exact way. It's so frustrating that Simon is absolutely vile but everyone sees this wonderful man and it's Gemma who comes off worst and has her reputation tarnished slowly.

I can see it going full circle and he cheats on Kate laugh.gif

Posted by: kye Sep 6 2017, 12:20 AM

can we also talk about Ros?
she is an absolute snake.. she proved that in season 1 but damn, there she was at the party. blatantly lied to her.

Posted by: Liаm Sep 6 2017, 12:35 AM

Omg YES she's one of those I knew I didn't like her all along then she just proves it drama.gif

Posted by: Mikee1981 Sep 6 2017, 07:51 AM

I binged watched all series 1 over the weekend and loved it so was ready for series 2 and loved it so gripping and enthralling.

Ros I want to slap she would be out of my friends circle straight away, did she learn nothing from her actions prior.

Roll on next week though I'm interested to see where it goes

Yeah Ros is definitely the real villain here.

I CANNOT STAND Simon's smug attitude, it is so grating! But I suppose that is the portrayal they are going for. Really good opening episode and very much intrigued where this series is going to go!

Posted by: Klaus Sep 7 2017, 01:11 PM

Abaolutely brillintly written, acted and directed! Far better than I ever expected even after the stunning first series!

I can't think of a better character driven and focused drama in recent years, there's so much depth to all of them. The pauses are also really well done, helping to further the tension in key scenes. Simon was so manipulative and patronising throughout and you can see how he'll be turning everyone against Gemma and doing it so effortlessly. I do like how Gemma is far from a perfect character too, how she kept being drawn back to Simon thoughout the episode, with both a mixture of jealousy and revenge/wanting to see him hurt.

Ros is such a snake but can we also talk about the new character Sian, who happens to be even more patronising than Simon!! I'm guesing there may be troubles with Gemma losing the practice and Sian taking over??

Posted by: lewistgreen Sep 7 2017, 01:31 PM

There's definitely talk that Sian becomes a more pivotal character as the series goes on.

Posted by: lewistgreen Sep 13 2017, 11:35 PM

What is happening to Tom ohmy.gif

Posted by: Klaus Sep 20 2017, 06:49 PM

Soooo.... that was an interesting episode?? Possibly the oddest the series has got so far but I liked how much it was focusing on how Tom had been affected by the split!

No idea where it's going to go now that she's left the town though! Suprised there was no Sian this episode, wanting to see what her purpose is.

Posted by: HarryEzra Sep 20 2017, 08:57 PM

I just watched up and that was interesting but I liked the focus on Tom and how he has been affected by the split. Still, don't know what Simon said to him but I bet it has a proper impact.

Posted by: HarryEzra Sep 26 2017, 09:01 PM

I was SO hooked at that episode omg just so gripping and sets up well for the finale.

Posted by: Klaus Sep 27 2017, 07:23 PM

Wow that episode was brilliant, best since the opener! Loved that we saw some of it from Kate's perspective and how the suspicion turned back round on her now, and also how different she dealt with it than Gemma!

That ending was fantastic too, jaw open at the final moment!

Posted by: commonsense Sep 27 2017, 09:21 PM

Best episode of series 2 last night. She won't knock him down.

Posted by: burbe Sep 27 2017, 09:42 PM

That was an incredible episode! So gripped throughout!

Posted by: HeadlessJockey Oct 3 2017, 08:21 PM

Very gripped so far. Didn't think she'll knock Simon down.

Posted by: HeadlessJockey Oct 3 2017, 08:31 PM

Didn't watch series 1, but got into series 2 and it's been thrilling as anything. So many twists.

Posted by: Sonia Fowler Oct 3 2017, 08:59 PM

I feel underwhelmed by that finale imo.

Posted by: The Burbadook Oct 3 2017, 09:09 PM

It wasn't as good as the season 1 finale for sure. It was decent but a bit of a comedown from last week.

Posted by: PaulM1983 Oct 3 2017, 10:27 PM

Really disappointed and just plain confused by that finale.

She left him a suicide kit full of medical equipment, so if he had used it, all eyes would have automatically gone to her. Remember there were previous suspicions about her helping his mum to die. Also, a handwritten instruction letter?? Huh??

Posted by: Liаm Oct 4 2017, 01:29 AM

I think that was great to set up season 3, it gives it a new direction and there's still a story to tell. Rather then being able to shut out Simon or have him dead and out of mind and move on as it looked briefly like she could, it changes the dynamic yet again. I honestly thought Tom had killed himself when she ran behind the hotel to that road where simon almost threw himself in front of the car, my heart couldn't take it drama.gif

Posted by: Lukuzz Oct 4 2017, 04:57 AM

I’m so disappointed by that ending. No feeling of revenge. How could she go back to him!
I thought there was no series 3? I have no interest in a series abou then finding Tom

I agree! My heart was in my mouth drama.gif

Incredible series and I really hope we get a third. Suranne has said she's not free until January 2019 though so we're going to be in for a bit of a wait! laugh.gif

Absolutely brilliant finale once again. I very much had my doubts over the second series, both before and during, as expressed in this thread as I really wasn't sure where there was to go but I'm very happy to have been proved wrong. It ended up being just as strong as the first series which was no easy thing to do!

I really was on the edge of my seat with my jaw on the floor as we learnt about Tom at the end. I think it did work really well as it showed the effect of the split/relationship on the child and particularly their actions in the last couple of episodes. Tom kept thinking that it was all over but they just kept getting drawn to each other and they would continue to do so. They couldn't leave each other alone, they had so many chances from the Series 1 finale but they couldn't help interfering with each other and continually going back to the other one. Simon could have stayed away after Series 1, Gemma could have stayed away after leaving in Ep 3, Gemma could have stayed away after PROVIDING him with stuff to kill himself but they always just returned to each other. So the only way to get away from it was to leave them both and run away!

A really brilliant character drama all round, where no one was perfect.

I get the sense a lot of people are disappointed because Simon wasn't killed off? Ugh. That would have been way too soapy.

Posted by: Calcified Froot Oct 8 2017, 11:20 AM

Yeh, that would have been too over the top I think and a bit seen it all before!

Yeah I totally agree, it would have been so OTT and it would undermine the way the show has gone so far. I kind of thought he'd be killed off, I thought someone would die but I thought it might be Tom just to highlight how they reflected his wellbeing and how much it affected him. I guess him goin missing by running away is the same though, but a bit less morbid and final plus it opens up a third series. It's not the ending I expected or necessarily wanted but I was happy with how it was played out.

Posted by: Sonia Fowler Oct 8 2017, 11:45 AM

I personally think the thrill of the episode was wondering if Simon WOULD be killed off but that's not to say I wanted him to be killed off. I just loved how you kept guessing is Simon going to die or is she going to save him. That sort of thing.

Posted by: PaulM1983 Oct 8 2017, 11:42 PM

I actually thought Simon was going to push Gemma in front of the traffic when she was trying to save him. Now THAT would have been dramatic.

Admittedly, that whole scene was very tense. I still don't understand the suicide kit/handwritten note though. It's just bizarre.

Posted by: Hide&Seek Oct 9 2017, 06:42 PM

I loved the first series.
Really didn't enjoy the second series at all, and won't be back for a third. It's Broadchurch all over again !

I wanted to see more of sneaky Roz and the couple from across the street - especially the guy. And Simon's mistress, and her family.
For me , there was far too much of just Gemma/Tom/Simon. All three could have been wiped out in the traffic and I'd have cheered.
