Homeland :: Season 1
Showtime/Channel 4 (2011-) "Homeland is a psychological thriller that tells the story of Carrie Anderson (Claire Danes), a CIA officer battling her own demons, who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of Scott Brody (Damian Lewis) a U.S. soldier who had been missing and presumed deal for nine years, was a setup and may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. Mandy Patinkin will portray Saul, a veteran CIA Division Chief who is Carrie’s (Danes) boss and mentor. Homeland is written by Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa and Gideon Raff, and is based on Raff’s Israeli television series 'Prisoners of War'." - Showtime 'Homeland' is starting on Channel 4 in January after already being renewed for a second season in the US (thanks to both record breaking ratings for Showtime and unanimous critical acclaim). It's definitely the best new show of the year for me and clearly deserves more than the general primetime discussion thread. Who else is watching? I've seen pretty good comments from Råndomfurlöng and Jσηνκιλομετρε. Jáhq seems to be enjoying the first few episodes too. Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin all seem like obvious choices for Emmy love next year. ANYWAY. I saw the first 2 episodes but then forgot to keep up. I did see people in the US shows discussion saying how it just keeps on getting better though so I might have to get back into it.

Interesting... from the makers of 24 and Mandy Patinkin from the first 2 series of Criminal Minds, its got a great cast with Claire Danes in the lead. I shall be watching in the new year on Channel 4.

Yes. Homeland is amazing. I watched episode 1 last Sunday and had watched up to episode 9 on Wednesday. It's that compelling.
First complaint though, I did think the Nazir's son story in episode 9 was the first time the show went towards 24 style silliness. |

Everyone seems to think it wasn't actually his son and just an unconventional way of Nazir manipulating Brody. |

Let me in your club too. Just watched the pilot and it was incredible. Claire Danes' character (and so as her) is AMAZING.

I have nothing but love for this show. Seriously amazing stuff, brilliantly written, brilliantly acted and not at all predictable. It's incredibly satisfying to see such a complex storyline pulled off so well and I think a lot of that is down to Claire who is just sensational in the lead role.

There's a couple of total WTAF moments along the way, every time I think I have a hold on where it's going it takes a totally new direction.

Another great episode this week. Surely they wouldn't be that obvious and make Saul the mole? Surely? I have a feeling he is.
I suck cock and I love it! Yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy! No words. I nearly spat my drink across the screen. |

Excellent episode indeed. Some really poignant, personal moments mixed in there too, the end in particular was very well done. Claire Danes has really excelled herself, by far the best work she's ever done.

This week's episode was great. That should get an award for best TV explosion.

I imagine the budget wasn't even that big for it either, making it even more impressive.

f***ING HELL at the penultimate episode. The final scene had me practically screaming at the TV, brilliantly done as always. How they end this with S2 in mind will be really interesting, on one hand I don't want to know too much, but on the other I don't want to be left with loads of questions for the next 9 months. GAH. Definitely my #1 show of 2011.

Breathtaking ending this week, definitely. I don't even have enough superlatives for Claire Danes this week. The finale (90 minutes!) will be a corker, but I don't want it to end!
