QUOTE(Vanity Fair)
The teaser is set to Billie Eilish’s debut single, “Six Feet Under”—a timely choice, given the recent release of her smash-hit new album—and embodies the spirit of many slasher films of the 1980s. In particular, the teaser seems to be aping Friday the 13th, with shots of a distressed young woman running from a masked assailant through the woods and taking refuge in a cabin. The masked pursuer, of course, stabs a knife through the door. Friday the 13th debuted in 1980, with Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter bowing in 1984. (Despite the purported finality of the title, the franchise has seen eight more films release since then.)

The year 1984 was unusually prolific for memorable horror films, with debuts including A Nightmare on Elm Street, Children of the Corn, Silent Night, Deadly Night, Firestarter, and the cult classic C.H.U.D., which influenced Jordan Peele’s Us. Murphy and his collaborator, Brad Falchuk, have long infused their horror anthology with references to the classics—and with a title like American Horror Story: 1984, it seems almost certain we’ll get another season packed with allusions.

Although Murphy has played things characteristically close to the vest when it comes to A.H.S. Season 9, we do know a couple of things about the upcoming season already. For the first time in franchise history, Evan Peters has said he is sitting this season out, while his ex-fiancée, Emma Roberts, is confirmed as part of the cast. (There is no indication, however, that the decision was connected to their split; Peters has, in fact, said in the past that playing a parade of dark characters on A.H.S. has been “exhausting” for him.) Sarah Paulson, the franchise’s other stalwart, is expected to return, although her casting has not been officially confirmed.

looks like it will be full on slasher vibes although slightly disappointed it's not going to be the dystopian vibes the title suggests on first look sad.gif

My thoughts exactly! With a title like that, how can you NOT reference Orwell?!

Though I am a big fan of 80s Horror/slasher fare myself, so this is already far more interesting than the concept for the last season was, I MAY give this a go this time (I swear there is not another show right now I'm so hot and cold with :'))

I didn't even finish 'Apocalypse' ... it wasn't even bad, did I miss out?

Posted by: Dexton 12th April 2019, 08:27 AM

Depends, what episode did you stop watching at? laugh.gif As per usual Ryan Murphy style it dropped off a cliff around halfway through. Still entertaining but wow what a waste of so much potential in basically every storyline. Return To Murder House could’ve gone down as one of the best AHS episode ever if not for that entire plot line being rewritten/removed by Mallory going back in time to hit & run the antichrist

Posted by: Jack 12th April 2019, 04:19 PM

I think I gave up around that episode actually! I can't really remember, it started off strong but got really mundane and boring sad.gif.

I actually really liked Roanoke and Cult as well.

Posted by: Vülker 12th April 2019, 05:15 PM

I'm excited about this one. I'm hoping it's a proper scary slasher series instead of going down the campfest twist-riddled route, which is sadly Murphy's brand. We've already had Scream Queens.

I enjoyed Apocalypse while it was on but have absolutely no desire to watch it again anytime soon.

Ranking klaxon!
1. Asylum
2. Roanoke
3. Coven
4. Murder House
5. Freakshow
6. Cult
7. Hotel
8. Apocalypse

i'm gonna stop any ranks in here NOW because i was going to open a new thread!!! laugh.gif

Sarah Paulson WON'T be in this series according to @ahsleak

No Evan and now no Sarah? Cancel it

o u t r a g e d

gonna boycott

Posted by: BridgeCow 10th July 2019, 10:55 AM

No Sarah Paulson fuuuuuuuu

Posted by: HarryEzra 10th July 2019, 02:42 PM

What's the point if their not in it. Let's be real.

Posted by: Spiceboy 14th July 2019, 12:20 PM

Why is there no Evan Peters or Sarah Paulson? Totally not here for that whatsoever

Posted by: Jαsє 14th July 2019, 10:14 PM

I think Evan just wants a break and all Sarah had to say about it when she was asked back in April was:

"I think all I can say is I know the least about this season upcoming that I've known about any season. I don't even know...yeah, that's all I can say. Usually, I have more information at this point, and I'm bugging Ryan Myrphy with questions. Right now, I don't have a lot and yeah, I'm so busy with Ratched, it's hard for me to think about anything beyond that."

Posted by: linds 14th July 2019, 10:41 PM

hmmm that sounds like it wasn't her decision to step this one out? sad.gif

i presumed she was just double booked or something but ahs is the first thing that comes to mind when u mention sarah paulson so its gonna really be missing a lot without her - i don't have much motivation to watch it still if im honest

A good article on the future of the show! It sounds like Sarah's probably going to be too busy for the foreseeable sad.gif

I wasn’t aware that Angelica Ross was on this season! She’s been great on Pose heart.gif heart.gif

Posted by: Jack 24th September 2019, 05:26 PM

A really strong first episode! Hopefully this is better than the boring mess that was Apocalypse.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 1st October 2019, 02:15 PM

This is so camp laugh.gif

Don’t remember if I seen the last series or not but it’s better than Roanoke at least for me.

Posted by: Simon. 1st October 2019, 07:38 PM

Not hit me yet, just don’t care for any of the characters so far.

Posted by: linds 1st October 2019, 10:47 PM

i think im in love with billie lourd

her and cody fern are actually great leads, but hoping mr jinkles gets emma roberts' character first bc honesty god how does that actress still have a career

Posted by: Botchia 2nd October 2019, 09:51 PM

I feel this series is really lacking the familiar cast members tbh

Posted by: kye 2nd October 2019, 10:17 PM

yeah, this season is missing a star. billie, leslie + cody are great supporting cast but it feels a bit more scream queens than ahs this season tbh.
emma is a scene stealer, she shouldn't be leading the show - that's what went wrong for scream queens.

i think it would really benefit it to add another more familiar face; adina porter, kathy bates or frances conroy - taissa could have even been one of the 'gang'.

Posted by: Dexton 4th October 2019, 11:47 AM

I don’t mind the cast but Im dreading this whole season being set over the course of one night... the first episode was so promising but it’s not looking great. I did like the twist at the end of this week though, i wanna Know why everyone wants to kill Brooke

Posted by: Jack 22nd October 2019, 01:42 PM

This series just feels like it's getting ridiculous with it's twists / different elements. It all seems a bit silly.

Posted by: Dexton 31st October 2019, 07:43 AM

That opening scene genuinely shocked me that was awful

Posted by: linds 17th November 2019, 12:28 AM

omg only 9 episodes?? that season was the worst I've ever seen, the only enjoyable elements were Billie Lourd and Lily Rabe and Finn Witrock's guest stars. Angelica Ross was amazing as well and Donna really was the most interesting chsracter with Montanna in second

Posted by: Jack 17th November 2019, 11:34 AM

Emma Roberts really is f***ing useless as an actress isn't she? I don't get how she keeps getting cast.

Posted by: SausageDestroyer 21st January 2020, 12:16 PM

Okay so I finally watched it. I have very much accepted the fact this was always going to be excruciatingly camp so watching it was a very enjoyable experience <3

Billie Lourd and Angelica Ross were by far the best characters/actors. Leslie also executed her sometimes pretty confusing character extremely well! I'm SO down for her to be the series regular. And Lily Rabe stealing episode 7 completely. All of her scenes were breathtaking.

Yet to watch season 7 though lmao
