BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Friday Chart Predictions

Will Adele's Easy On Me continue its run at #1? Busy week on the singles front with Post Malone & The Weeknd teaming up on One Right Now, Travis Scott's double release ESCAPE PLAN / MAFIA and a likely high debut for ArrDee's Flowers (Say My Name). A few of Summer Walker's tracks could pop up too, plus there's new singles from Silk Sonic, Charli XCX, Foals, Tiesto/Ava Max, Little Mix and Slipknot

ABBA's first album in 40 years Voyage is on course for a big opening at #1. We could see big debuts for Summer Walker's new album Still Over It, James Arthur's It'll All Make Sense In The End and Radiohead's KID A MNESIA, plus there's new releases from Diana Ross, Gregory Porter, Bullet For My Valentine, Snail Mail, Parcels and Katy B

Breakdown of the week
- Saturday: Some information may be posted on social media but it is likely to be missing most streaming data and is unrepresentative.
- Sunday: Official First Look Chart on Radio 1 from 6-7pm. Please do not post spoilers on the forum in advance as this ruins the countdown for any listeners.
- Monday: OCC Top 100 from 5:45pm
- Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one.
- Wednesday: Top 40 update from Music Week from 5:45, and potential top 5 sales but this is not guaranteed.
- Thursday: See Tuesday.

Other notes (please read)
- You may make requests Tuesday to Thursday but outside the top 40, specific positions will not be revealed (unless deemed necessary by a mod).
- Please do not demand a midweek update, one will be posted as and when we receive the information. Patience is a virtue.
- Sales information will be given out as deemed necessary by a moderator, please bear this in mind when making requests. Most requests for sales will be ignored. Any chart requests between No. 41 to 100 will not be answered after Monday's update.
- To keep everyone in the loop of all chart action, please refer to the iTunes and Spotify threads.

Looking like ABBA might end up doing even less sales than Ed which will come as a shock to many, including myself.

Rooting for them though, and hope Summer Walker can clinch the #2 spot!

In singles, I’m rooting for another week at #1 for EOM.

Another underperformed album - ish. Adele must be doing really low ( I mean 200k and both the 400-500k that most of us thought) number also. I can't see her just doing so much if the others can't do shit.

I mean 140k for Ed is very good for the climate and ABBA will outdo that. I can see Adele doing double what Ed/ABBA do. So around 300k for Adele? Although part of me thinks she will just do an Adele and smash every prediction. I think my initial prediction for Adele was 680k. I'm hoping I can be right for once. laugh.gif

I'll be shocked if she'll touch 400K. I can see her finishing around 290K. Ready to be proven wrong. Amen.

What info is this based on? Thought they had loads of pre orders

Posted by: slowdown73 Nov 6 2021, 08:00 PM

Abba have preorders confirmed of above 110k so I can’t say how they will do less than Sheeran this week.

Posted by: Brit Nov 6 2021, 08:31 PM

Adele will clearly do anything over 300k this is Adele, a decline in market really does not affect her, when will
People actually learn that Adele has her own standards, she isn’t on the same level as Ed or Abba, she is a class of her own!

I don’t know, I think they could be onto something. I’ve lowered my expectations for Adele. Anything over 200k at this point would be a humongous success for her.

Posted by: Run_For_Cover Nov 6 2021, 09:05 PM

Yeah I think estimations for Adele’s opening week sales need to be reigned in a little bit. It should still be best opening of the year though.

Overpass Graffiti sounds slightly better after the first few listens, though I can't imagine it's one I'll come back to much in the future

She is considerably bigger but pure sales are ostensibly dead right now. I hope she can exceed my expectations, but I am not confident we are going to be seeing huge numbers. I’m going with 225k for 30.

Suspect Adele will almost certainly clinch the #1 by the end of the week again. She’s still ahead on Spotify and Apple Music, even during the weekend which is the worst time for EOM in terms of streaming.

Will be close though.

Posted by: Lukuzz Nov 7 2021, 06:57 PM

Singles chart so boring at the minute.

Posted by: Mart!n Nov 7 2021, 06:58 PM

Ed Sheeran is up against Adele once again for this week’s Number 1 single on the Official Chart: First Look, one week after releasing his now chart-topping album = (Equals).

Ed’s smash hit Shivers is at the top of today’s first look, but with just 500 chart sales between Shivers and reigning Number 1 Easy On Me by Adele, it’s all to play for.

Currently tracking to be the highest new entry on this week’s chart, Brighton rapper ArrDee is at Number 6 with Flowers (Say My Name). Interpolating Sweet Female Attitude’s Flowers and Destiny’s Child’s Say My Name, the song is set to become ArrDee’s third Top 10 single in the UK.

Further down, Travis Scott is at 17 with Escape plan, while Clean Bandit, Topic and Wes Nelson climb eight spots to Number 18 on the First Look with Drive – a new peak for the song if it can hold on until Friday’s Official Singles Chart.

Finally, Summer Walker & SZA team up for No Love (20) from Summer’s new album Still Over It. If it stays on track it will mark Summer Walker’s highest charting single to date, and SZA’s fifth Top 20 single.

I thought all the Billboard chart predictions had to be shut down (because of Billboard forcing a critical source to stop publishing figures which the predictions were largely based on). At the very least anyone still doing these predictions is bound to be much less accurate now. Would be good if 'Bad Habits' could indeed finally sneak a week at #1 in the US though, keeping up a good couple of months for British acts on the Hot 100. (having looked it up I see that the projected possible #1 is mainly because of CD singles shipping there)

'Shivers' being at #1 again at this stage suggests the Adele CD single is not selling amazingly well (unless there's just reporting issues with it). Small gap though and Adele will probably bounce back on streaming again later in the week so I expect she'll likely get the #1 back again, but it could be close.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 7 2021, 07:41 PM

'Bad Habits' at #1 in the US would also make it 3 #1s in a row for British artists over there! Anyone know when the last time that happened was?

The #1 before Easy On Me was INDUSTRY BABY, no? So only 2 #1s for British acts in a row if Bad Habits manages it.

Posted by: Smint Nov 7 2021, 07:53 PM

July 1986 had 4 UK artists in a row at no.1 in the US - Billy Ocean, Simply Red, Peter Gabriel and Genesis at no.1. Couldn’t see any in late 80s and didn’t think worth checking anything later as UK artists did pretty badly overall.

9 of the UK top 10 pretty good too even if 3 by same artist - know that prob end up 8 with Coldplay dropping and Anxiety climbing by Friday

Posted by: Bré Nov 7 2021, 07:58 PM

It'll still be the first time for a long time that there have even been 2 US #1s in a row by British artists - the last time was 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me'/'I'm Too Sexy' in February 1992. (Although more recently 'We Found Love' had its second run at #1 ended by 'Set Fire To The Rain' so that was the last time a song with a British artist on it was knocked off #1 by another one, but 'Sexy And I Know It' was #1 between the two chronologically).

Cold Heart for US #1!

Posted by: Robbie Nov 7 2021, 08:18 PM

I don't know when it went on sale, but the cassette single of 'Easy On Me' is now available to buy from Adele's online store. I had checked a few days ago and it was still showing as not yet being available. £5 for a few minutes of music is a bit steep though.

Year-end #1 will be Adele surely? And depending on how well Ed holds up, and how much he sells over xmas, year-end #2 could go to him. ~400k year-end sales for SOUR doesn't seem like it'd be an incredibly difficult hurdle to pass.

Wet Wet Wet top 40 too, love the name of their former record company on the 80s and 90s chart archive, 'Precious Organisation' (although I think they have changed record company now).

OCC article says ABBA currently outselling the rest of the Top 40 combined.

I’ve given up worrying too much about their numbers now they’re safely in 6 figures anyway; the fact they’ve done it with an original album in my lifetime is amazing enough.

#70 Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas is You
#90 Wham! - Last Christmas

Mariah should make it by the end of the week but I imagine Wham! will miss.

Abbas sales disappointing but still great compared to the norm but interesting to see where they end up. The last two weeks shows the market has changed completely now even for the biggest artists. It's there because of a vinyl re-issue, #24 on Monday is very likely not going to be anywhere near enough for it to stay top 40. Hayley Williams' album with its belated physical release earlier this year, by comparison, was #29 in the Monday midweeks and ended the week at #92.

Anywhere in the top 100 will still be a first (across both the singles and albums charts) for her though.

Posted by: Envoirment Nov 8 2021, 08:18 PM

Amazing sales for ABBA (especially in Germany omg). It's a shame a lot of the pre-orders couldn't be shipped out on time. But in saying that - if they get shipped in the next few weeks that might help their sales stay pretty stable! Really hoping they'll be able to cross 200k this week - maybe more depending on how much missing data there is/how much they sell each day.I do think they'll pick up a lot of casual buyers (more so than Ed did).

Speaking of Ed, his sales have dropped a bit more than I expected. Although there will be missing data. Hopefully he'll manage 40k by the end of the week. That'll be ~70% drop, which is kind of the norm nowadays I guess with frontloaded vinyl sales etc? I'm sure his sales will pick up once again as we near Christmas.

Also, OMG Rina in the top 40! I hope she stays but she will likely fall out. Hopefully she's done enough to secure a top 100 placing. I'll go give her albums a few streams to help. Would love to see her debut album finally chart. One of my favourite albums of last year!

I mean that was the case for Ed in the Monday midweeks last week too... coffee.gif it says more about how completely dead the rest of the chart is than anything else. 'Outselling the rest of the top 40 combined' sounds far more impressive than 117k.

Gone are the days that the entire top 10 do 100k+ the week of Christmas. Last time that happened was in 2009 (2011 came close with 9/10).

It’ll be interesting to where Abba are once any missing data is added. They could get to 150k depending on how much is missing, I feel like given physical cds arent around so much these days in shops, that could be their downfall. Still amazing for a band that haven’t released an album for 40 years.

Ed really has collapsed, I’m beginning to think Taylor has a shot at no1 next week now which initially I thought she wouldn’t stand a chance.

Why are people saying ABBA have missing data, a sale not counting till it dispatches is a fallacy. Yeah that record they have for getting their first however many singles to #1 was definitely in part due to releasing on some low sales weeks for the era with less competition. Walsh and Co probably learnt their lesson from Boyzone who IIRC ended up with a fair few #2s for releasing on weeks with strong competition.

Ed, go write better songs instead of spending your time in BZ trying to defend your flop sales smile.gif

Because they changed the date of the vinyl for Lana, unless you think those delayed vinyls were all suddenly ready and dispatch at midnight Thursday. Once they changed the vinyl date that was the date those vinyl sales would be reported.

As for your 2nd comment grow up.

Personal taste of course but I think it sounds very generic. Also Out Out is still doing well so that's probably overshadowing it somewhat.

Abba has missing data. The money for the picture discs has only been taken from my account today after the warehouse fire held their dispatch up. There's no fallacy about it.

Why are people saying ABBA have missing data, a sale not counting till it dispatches is a fallacy. We've seen it so many times recently where people aren't getting dispatches but the sales have clearly already counted. The Spice Girls Spice re-release was clearly as case of that last week. As soon as money has cleared it can be reported as a sale I'm sure.

Some ABBA orders are only just being charged today, despite having pre-ordered ages ago. I don't know if they're connected to the fire or just another dispatch delay.

But I've read many times before that the sale is only counted when the item is dispatched. Possibly to stop loads of orders being placed, counted for the charts, then cancelled and refunded?

Posted by: Bré Nov 8 2021, 11:43 PM

Speaking of dispatch delays, apparently the reason 'Bad Habits' wasn't #1 on the Hot 100 this week as predicted was because the CD shipments had been delayed lol. So it still might get there whenever they do get dispatched, but this week was probably its best chance since it did have at least a bit of a streaming boost from his album release.

Ed being generous enough to allow Adele a third week at the Hot 100 #1 clap.gif

(I know this is kind of off topic but it was being discussed in this thread anyway)

Yes, but the person who said that admittedly didn’t even know for sure that there was 50k physical orders of Bad Habits as he predicted. He was going off precedent, not actual numbers. I very much doubt Ed Sheeran had sold 50k physicals of Bad Habits, so he was most probably never going to get the #1 anyway.

It's crazy that these days one stan tweet can affect the predictions and expectations so much. What a bizarre world... there was never any proper info around.

Anyway, seems that Abba's sales can be pretty much anything this week and Ed is doing a bit better than I thought, maybe 45k on Friday.

I’m in an ABBA FB group and there are some strange stories at the moment about pre-orders being cancelled completely due to a fire at a vinyl plant. The mind boggles… but anyway at least it suggests there might be some more sales to come either this week or later. I think I’ll buy a copy actually after initially just planning to stream it - I don’t have a CD player anymore but can listen to it at my parents’ over Christmas. biggrin.gif

Yep, I got one those. See below:

Thank you for buying a copy of Abba ‘Voyage’ from The Record Hub, it is very exciting to be releasing the first album of new music in 40 years from such a legendary band.
Due to a production delay on the format you ordered (we had a printing press go up in flames destroying the first batch of sleeves, but luckily not injuring anyone), we are running late with the stock and have not been able to ship to you for release date.
This issue has affected all retailers worldwide for ABBA formats on vinyl.
The album will be with you very shortly, but so there is no delay in you hearing the music, we would like to offer you a free download code to be redeemed at the following link :
https://redeem.umusicdirect.com/
Your unique code is: **********
Apologies again for the delay, we hope this doesn’t spoil your enjoyment of ABBA’s fantastic new record.

Considering "Fearless TV" debuted with 21k it will be hard for "Red TV" to be #1 with those or slightly better numbers (since vinyls are available this time around). I wouldn't be surprised if Rod Stewart's new album ends up being her biggest competition (among the new releases).

All those top artists like Ed sheeran, Coldplay, Adele were afraid to go against each other in the charts unlike Westlife who were going against to acts back in the day Eminem, Spice Girls, Susan boyle, Oasis etc

More people will be pissed if their versions of Never Can Say Goodbye, Miss You Nights, Evergreen, When You're Looking Like That in 2000 to 2002 and a pop lead single in 2004 had been released and became realities. That's like 5 more number ones and will keep on saying they released on weak weeks hahahahaha

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 10 2021, 12:36 AM

To be fair Westlife did some good head to head battles with albums and managed to get the number 1 and a good chart battle i think benefits sales as encourages people who are on the fence to go out and buy an album, im not so sure if people buy into chart battles as much anymore but they are enjoyable when they happen especially if the artist you are supporting wins the battle.

Amazing for ABBA! I wonder how much of that was more pre-orders being added vs actual sales. I would think they are on track to pass 200k quite comfortably when missing data is added + 3 days of sales left to go. I wonder how much of an impact Sainsburys has nowadays with CDs. I assume there'll be stands for the album in the big ones.

She couldn’t have asked for better from this song really. I really like the song, but I didn’t expect it to still be number 1 in both the UK and US by the time the album was released, but it’s looking like an almost certainty now.

WOW.....168,591 sales so far with 3 days sales still to go for ABBA is incredible. and to think some of you were saying this comeback album was a flop, I don't hear you singing anymore!

I think they will easily sell over 200K now and it wouldn't surprise me at all if this was the Christmas No1 album.

Abba have already shown Ed what they are capable of in terms of sales and I think Adele needs to keep look over her shoulder too.

ABBA <3 There’s something very fairytale-esque about four Swedish 70-somethings picking up where they left off 40 years ago and topping the charts with ease, smashing the sales of the biggest contemporary artist of the last five years out of the park.

They transcended it majorly but the point still stands that it’s not been too bad a year for Eurovision winners in the UK charts!

Posted by: jimwatts Nov 10 2021, 08:50 AM

Fantastic sales for ABBA - even without all the other formats, 118k CDs is more than the pure weekly sales of any album since 2017!

(They might fall short of Ed's 19.1k downloads last week, but I think Adele will beat that anyway.)

ABBA’s album is run of the mill and anyone pretending otherwise really needs to have a word with themselves. It’s a good album but let’s not pretend that it’s the creme de la creme. It’s an enjoyable pop album by a 70’s pop band, just with aged vocals.

I’m happy that they are doing such huge numbers as I’m a fan but there’s really no need for the snobbery.

The ABBA album is generally lacklustre with some decent moments however it’s great to have them back encouraging people to buy vinyl and CD again. Those massive pre sales all filtering through is a welcome benefit through the week too as let’s face it, they were always going in at 1 even with the despatch issues.

Does Ed have the biggest sales for a #2 placement album this year?

Posted by: Bré Nov 10 2021, 05:55 PM

ABBA adding another 13k today then which tracks better with their increase between Saturday and Monday. (Would sammy01 like to explain how they went from doing 12.5k-ish per day for 2 days, then 50k the following day, then 13k again the day after that, if it's not for the fact that late dispatches don't get counted until they are dispatched tongue.gif) Looks like they'll be decently clear of 200k for the week especially if there are still more late dispatches to come (do we have any anecdotal evidence of that? x)

Nice to see Joel and Mabel sneaking into the top 20.

It’ll be interesting to see Ed’s final week sales and wether they’ll remain high over the next few weeks or if it’s peoples orders coming later.

Posted by: Bré Nov 10 2021, 06:00 PM

I don't think Ed has been having shipping issues (he was only missing sales in the early update last week because all of HMV's Friday data was missing for some reason).

He was doing around 8k per day for most of last week and added 6.3k yesterday so not a massive drop on a daily level. For the whole week he'll be down a lot because all of the pre-orders went to last week of course. But he probably isn't going to continue plummeting next week.

My final 4 late dispatches arrived today. That's my 12 sale contributions until the reissues come out. Never doubted ABBA would poop rings round Sheeran. This is ABBA for crying out loud.

Good to see Silk Sonic enter the Top 40 today. It's a shame Don't Shut Me Down dropped out but that was inevitable... two months late with this observation, but it was only the 4th Abba single to enter in the Top 10, after Take A Chance On Me (entered at #10), Chiquitita (#8) and The Winner Takes It All (also #9).

Currently second highest after Iron Maiden (44k). Even if he doesn't overtake that, he already has the highest second week sale of the year, and will soon have the highest of the decade which is currently 35k for Ball and Boe(!) last December.

Posted by: Bré Nov 10 2021, 07:44 PM

He should get to around 50k for the week (maybe slightly under) at the rate he's currently increasing. I would have guessed that ABBA would have lower second week sales than Ed regardless of if they beat his first week sales or not (just because of streaming/physical splits etc.) but they'd need to drop off quite a lot from their current 13k-per-day status quo for that to be the case now! They might well manage to stay ahead of Ed for the rest of the year now (but Ed is surely still bound to overtake them eventually, probably January at the latest, their strong casual physical sales can't last forever).

I don't think there's a single act I'd buy more than one version of an album by, even if different formats or a slightly different tracklist. If I did somehow manage to be persuaded it'd be for a small act where an extra copy might make a difference.

I don’t see how that’s such a controversial thing to say. Sure, Sheeran might have cleared half a mil if the market conditions were favourable to him doing so, but if that were the case then maybe ABBA could have done also. Either way it’s all hypothetical so it’s a strange semantic thing to call someone out on.

200k seems inevitable with those numbers. I suppose older fans are more likely to already have other stuff on physicals so that'll be driving a lot of the market, where's Ed's fans will be streaming - although going by his spotify numbers not to the level of his past releases.

To give as Christmas presents? To hope that the individual member pic ones may become rarities in future? Bit like the Now 4 original CD is worth about £600 now in mint condition.

Posted by: Envoirment Nov 10 2021, 09:47 PM

Great to see ABBA adding another 10k+ a day. I think they'll have a really strong second week - possibly near 100k if they do well on the weekend. I expect a lot of people will pick up the album as a Christmas present when out shopping.

Posted by: Dot Branning Nov 10 2021, 09:49 PM

The only things I own multiples of are when they are on completely different formats (CD, Vinyl, Download etc...) I really don't see the point of buying four different vinyls for example that contain the exact same music other than for the obvious purpose of driving up chart sales and as much as i'm invested in the charts and my faves doing well to a degree, not to the point that I can throw that much money away on it.

It’s just a trait of collecting in general isn’t it? I don’t think it’s any different with music, especially if an artist or act means a lot to someone.

(ps not attempting to argue that it is sane though, I can’t explain why I do it every now and again - I’m like a magpie drawn to shiny things sad.gif )

Also great to see Ed's sales picking up a bit. He may end up closer to 50k than 40k come Friday! I can see his sales holding steady/increasing as we get to Christmas.

Posted by: Bjork Nov 10 2021, 10:40 PM

back in the day it was nicer being a collector
like if Tori Amos released a single, there would be a CD1 with 3 B-sides, a CD2 with different cover and 3 more b.sides, then a 7", a 12"
then in the US it would be a different CD with different b.sides, and there also promo CDs, and German CDs, so it was definitely nicer than now

I don't see the appeal of collecting all colour variants of a vinyl... I just pick the one I like the most and I get that one,
but I know there are many people that track them and collect them all
Like Taylor did 16 different vinyls for Folklore and sure some bought them all and it was just different covers
and it's quite big for little indie artists too

Posted by: dj_tim_e Nov 10 2021, 10:51 PM

If it makes someone happy to buy multiple variants and it's not hurting anyone I don't see what the problem is.

Omg this! I never understand why people are so concerned what others chose to spend their money on - if someone wants 15 copies of the same album then so be it.

Posted by: Sour Candy Nov 10 2021, 11:49 PM

But then if there is a general shortage of vinyl units, it's quite funny if some people buy 15 and some fail to get one. I would consider setting a limit, like 5/person or sth.

Posted by: BlackNBlue Nov 11 2021, 12:18 AM

I just find it funny how some record stores are boycotting Adele’s 30 for printing 500k, but are silent on certain artists and bands printing countless vinyl variations of the same album. ABBA has already sold over 30,000 vinyls this week alone in the U.K., so god knows how many they’ve sold worldwide. So I don’t get why some record stores are trying to make Adele the boogeyman here. It’s not like she’s doing loads of different vinyl variations of the same album to the extent others are doing. She’s merely making sure there’s enough supply by estimating potential demand.

I’m not saying she’s totally in the right, but I don’t agree with making her the boogeyman at all.

It was technically 9 - in the US she had 8 different artworks with 8 different colour vinyl, then one of those covers also had a Target Red version. There were also European pressings of the same 8 artworks/colours. But for one single market, the maximum was 9 in the US!

QUOTE(BlackNBlue @ Nov 11 2021, 12:22 AM) *
It’s absolutely absurd to me how there isn’t more outrage about something like this as opposed to Adele for instance.

There's definitely been some grumblings on social media/music forums about vinyl delay times, and also regarding certain releases having a large number of variants (the latter point is often raised in the context of fans being tired of having so many variants to choose between, and finding them somewhat unnecessary). Overall, I imagine it's not enough noise to cause something to change, because the labels definitely want to milk the vinyl craze for all its worth and they must see different art/colours as the most effective way to get high sales.

In fairness to Taylor, it took quite a few months for her copies to be pressed (summer 2020 is when the pre-order went live, but they were not dispatched until November 2020) so it seems she didn't jump the queue and she had to wait her turn.

I'm not sure if it's the different number of artworks or colour pressings that's the main reason for slowing things down in the pressing plants. In regards to Adele it seems she's under fire because the amount of copies being produced (even though there's only three variants, I think?) is so large that she booked out a lot of pressing plants and slowed down other album pressings. Personally I don't hold that against her, because clearly the demand is there and she'll sell the vast majority of those copies. Also there's definitely other artists contributing to it, certainly ABBA.

I've heard that some other issues with vinyl production includes: a low number of pressing plants (certainly too low to keep up with demand) and a shortage of raw materials (pulp for the sleeves / certain colours). Covid troubles last year also seemed to majorly contribute in slowing things down, creating a backlog that can't be caught up on. Apparently some artists have to wait up to 9 months to get a vinyl pressed! ohmy.gif

Posted by: Bjork Nov 11 2021, 06:51 AM

Also some colour variants are difficult to find cos they are very limited, like only 500 copies

All indie artists are doing this and a limited new version disappears in a matter of seconds

for instance, I know there's this indie female singer-songwriter called Julien Baker
who is like zero zero famous and from her debut album there have been 24 different colour variants alreaady!

https://www.discogs.com/master/914052-Julien-Baker-Sprained-Ankle

and same for Phoebe Bridgers there have been 11 different colour variants since release
and there's like oh now this week we are releasing an Opaque Gold Nugget (Urban Outfitters Exclusive) only 500 and sells out in 5 minutes

I didn't think James Arthur's new album would be ahead of Radiohead and new streaming sensation Summer Walker but there you go!

By my reckoning, that level of progress means that ABBA may fall just short.

Considering none of their own store exclusives will ship until the end of November, I'm pretty impressed by Radiohead managing 10K

ABBA are FLOPS and they WILL be dropped by their record label and split up forever this time!!!

Only album Christmas is Michael buble

Posted by: Bjork Nov 11 2021, 07:44 PM

not the bestest update for ABBA
but will be an amazing result even if they finish at 199K

Becky at #11 again then.
Silk Sonic up 10 places since yesterday!

I haven't checked but I assume Christmas- Christmas is a Christmas soundalike covers album that appears high in the list when you look for Christmas music on one of the streaming sites. Like an album chart version of Precision Tunes or Can You Blow My.

Especially for what is a glorified reissue.

So deserves to be top 10, Is she close to number 10?

Posted by: Bjork Nov 11 2021, 08:01 PM

I think all the "red" Radiohead vinyls haven't shipped, which were the ones that mot hardcore fans were after

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 11 2021, 08:03 PM

Surely Abba will do the 10k needed now for 200,000 plus they will have at least a couple of streams to be added, i know its the strictly affect which will wear off but good to see the Scripts greatest hits climbing.

She's not miles behind but she's not selling more than Meet Me At Our Spot on a daily basis so she won't overtake

Amazing result for ABBA. If ABBA "only" manage 200K (in quotes, because I know we all had higher expectations), I'd be very surprised if Adele crosses 250K.

I would assume so? Especially as they are more than likely around 192k with missing data added. Amazon home delivery for Tuesday being missing could be a decent amount of sales for ABBA. Frida also did an interview earlier today on BBC Radio 2 - so that may have helped prompt a few extra sales as well. Either way it's amazing to see them do ~200k.

I have to say I'm impressed by Ed's sales! He looks to be on track for 45-50k, which isn't as big as a drop as I thought. He seems to be selling quite consistently each day. I wouldn't be surprised if he stabilised or even increased his sales next week with Christmas now fast approaching.

Glad to see Adele ahead of Ed. Hopefully she'll stay #1 this week. "Easy On Me" will get its first promotional performance on Sunday for her CBS special. I'm sure it'll be aired in the UK/have an effect here. Although not sure how big of an effect it'll have. I hope they upload her performances to youtube for extra views/streams.

Also I have to say I'm really happy at how well "My Universe" is holding up. It looks like it'll have some decent longevity in the charts!

I don't think so. If Amazon Home Delivery data is missing, that's potentially a bunch more physicals still to be added for them, along with the small amount of streaming data they'll be missing.

Posted by: Bré Nov 11 2021, 08:59 PM

A bit of a dropoff for ABBA's daily sales today although I'm sure they will still find a way to sneak past 200k much like Coldplay managed to get over 100k when it looked like they might be falling just short.

Considering how low it debuted on Spotify that Silk Sonic song has made impressive progress over the week, looks like it might end up debuting pretty close to where 'Leave The Door Open' did (and surely on course to outpeak it next week at this rate especially with the album dropping)!

Good to see the very underrated band Christmas finally getting some album chart success <3

Posted by: dandy* Nov 11 2021, 09:10 PM

I hope ABBA do clear 200K but it will be a great achievement to get so close either way

It's exploding on spotify. Their album release is tomorrow too, so I expect it'll keep gaining a lot on spotify in the coming week! I feel it could be quite a bit bigger than "Leave The Door Open" both here and in the US!

There's also an album of the same name by Karl Loxley that was at number 57 in the top 100 album midweeks on Monday. I doubt it's that album but it shouldn't be the Michael Buble album either. Maybe the OCC have mixed up the sales of both albums?!

I think Adele will likely outsell Abbas weekly sales by Mondays chart update, If not be very close to it.
I can't see Adele doing below 400k

Yeah as truly amazing as ABBA have done, Adele is in a league of her own. She will probably outsell them on the first day.

Abba coming for that 199,998 sale laugh.gif and yeah it's great to see Christmas's long-awaited eponymous debut album on course for a top 30 entry!

‘Leave the Door Open’ is projected to end up as the US Billboard no.6 in their End of Year charts so to be quite a bit bigger over their we’re talking gargantuan!

Yeah it won't be too hard for it to be a bigger hit than 'Leave The Door Open' in the UK but that song was wayyy bigger in the US than it was here. That said, 'Smokin Out The Window' is #1 on US Spotify now which apparently 'Leave The Door Open' never managed (peaking at #2) and with the amount of traction it's gaining so quickly it's not crazy to imagine that it might be a similar level hit in the US. Its release has actually been pretty much perfectly timed for the 2022 end of year charts in the US as well since the tracking year for some inexplicable reason starts in mid November.

Billboard heavily skewed its formula in favour of this song. It wasn't even top 10 on any streaming platforms the week it stole #1 from Levitating, only went #1 because Billboard randomly increased the weight of airplay
