The marvellous Sophie Ellis-Bextor has revealed details of her 6th album due this year. Seems she's going for a retro disco sound this time, one of the confirmed song titles is 'Come With Us'.
Wanderlust was nice as a one off, but not something I return to that often so I'm glad it won't be too similar to that.
Love SEB. Bring back battle of the posh.
I expect some 'Wanderlust' tracks as that was v. well received from r2!
I really liked Wanderlust so looking forward to this!!
Sounds good by what they are recording.
I remember in one of the news that I read on The Attitude, SEB expressed her doubt about whether she is still passionate about disco music given she experienced the success of Wanderlust. I always think that disco doesn't really suit her that well but after listening "Only child" last year, she'd be fine as long as she finds the disco sound that suits her voice.
I'm a big fan of 'Wonderlust', it's probably her best album bar 'Trip' for me. I don't know what to hope for next era, she is very talented woman and I don't think she will disappoint!
On 'Trip...' the retro disco thing worked superbly - along with 'Wanderlust' and 'Read My Lips' it's her best album and it was my best album of 2007 overall. 'Make a Scene', whilst still an alright album, just felt a bit laboured by comparison, mainly because it took so long for it to actually come out and most of the songs from it were leaked in some form or another whilst she had more babies, cancelled tours to go on tours with Take That and the like. Now she's releasing independently and is on her own terms without a middle man at a major intervening in it all I'd like to think it'd be different.
The tracklist (according to Josepvinaixa):
1. Intro
2. Here Comes the Rapture
3. Unrequited
4. Hush Little Voices
5. Cassandra
6. My Puppet Heart
7. Death of Love
8. Saddest Happiness
9. Come With Us
10. Crystallize
11. Wild Forever
12. Don’t Shy Away
Come With Us premiered on Radio 2 this morning, it's about 1:38:30 in on this link:

It's good, it almost sounds like some of the stuff on Read My Lips or Trip The Light Fantastic if it had been produced by Nile Rodgers, definitely more classic Sophie than the stuff on Wanderlust.
Nice to hear her voice again, don't really think much of it on first listen.
Love that, her voice is just so sublime.
If it is similar to Love Is Here (forgot how much I love that song) then I should like this. I wasn't too fussed for her last album.
Confirmed September 2nd release date. Come With Us is the first single/grat.
I like how she's carried the theme of Wanderlust but more colourful *.*
erm that album cover dafuq
I like the electro vibe but this is definitely a slow grower for me.
The font/colour looks revolting.
That clip instantly brings the song to life for me though!
Yeah that artwork isn't very good imo I do like the song though, a lot more than Young Blood on first few listens! Quite excited for the album, Wanderlust was quite a pleasant listen through.
Can't wait for this. I loved wanderlust - her best album yet!
I cannot wait for the album
'Come With Us' has proven to be a real grower.
It's definitely getting better with each listen, there's a remix of it on Spotify which is just as good also, 9 something can't remember.
Love the remixes (Just streaming now on Apple) - She's given this such a quiet release that I would have missed this if it wasn't for the forum!
Amazn has a deluxe version listed. What's the difference to the standard?
Just found out she has a show on Sep 8 in London, tried to get tickets but it's sold out.
"Come With Us" (Music Video / Premiered by http://www.idolator.com/7641330/sophie-ellis-bextor-come-with-us-video-watch)
Simple video but she looks gorgeous, and her facial expressions are amazing.
The song proves to be a real grower and the video is beautiful.
What an absolute banger! It's a nice return to the 'Trip the Light Fantastic' sound for her whilst keeping a bit of retro-ness about it all. And it's about joining a cult - what's not to love? Will be pre-ordering the album for sure!
Come With Us is absolutely brilliant, had it stuck in my head all day
She is so sweet. I like her foxy lady style.
Unrequited is out and SO good
Just heard unrequited. Its a beautiful song. Really good.
I note with interest on her Instagram she's posting the progress of her album pre-order signings and is making each one unique and tailored (sunglasses, Ziggy Stardust makeup, Edwardian moustache etc). I've pre-ordered one so hope I get an Edwardian tache on mine.
Not sure how this will perform? There doesn't seem to be much buzz around the single or album this time, I'm sure it'll go Top 20 due to the sales climate but it's feeling like it's going to be a 17-86-Out kinda release.
This album is kind of a sequel to Wanderlust bar Come With Us & Wild Forever. It's okay.
I like how this is like a continuation of Wanderlust tbh, it suits her voice. It's got a bit more oomph too which I love.
In light of the entire album, 'Come With Us' as the lead single looks kind of cynical.
I'm slightly underwhelmed by the album at the moment. It's not bad in any means, just a bit subdued and dull in places. I think I was expecting more after Wanderlust but this isn't quite up there in comparison.
I was expecting a bit more of the disco vibe of the single, but it's not even that different to Wanderlust (except it doesn't have the charm or melody the songs on there had).
I'm so disappointed with this.
It was no20 on iTunes last night. I think it will struggle and be lucky to sell half the amount of Wanderlust.
I feel sad to say that I don't even have the urge to listen to this album (for now).
Am I alone in preferring this to Wanderlust? It's up there with Trip The Light Fantastic and Make A Scene for me.
I prefer this to Wanderlust too, there are some beautiful melodies and the production is brilliant, doesn't deserve to go largely unnoticed. Wild Forever, Crystallise, Here Comes The Rapture, Come With Us, Cassandra and Unrequited are all varying shades of excellent.
According to Mint Royale, the album was #7 yesterday and he expects it to land at around 11/12 on Friday.
It's not ideally what I wanted but since getting the vinyl it's majorly grown on me. Mainly track 2, 8 and 9, the one about a puppet has a Sugababes Denial twang to it.
The album has *slightly* grown on me, I'm still disappointed it was billed as a sparkly or more upbeat version of Wanderlust when it really isn't at all.
I'm finding enjoyment in everything but 'Hush Little Voices', 'My Puppet Heart' and 'Don't Shy Away'... but strangely this album has actually made me appreciate Wanderlust more.
Aly My Puppet Heart is one of the best ones on the album
Good God Unrequited is EXQUISITE. The whole album is really lovely, a nice continuation of the Wanderlust sound, whilst still being a natural evolution. It's clearly a passion project and this is where she is as an artist now. I'm quite happy with it too because it really works for her voice and the production and melodies are still excellent. Wild Forever, Unrequited, Come With Us and Don't Shy Away are my early PICKS.
Not a nice week for the album this week, number 74 in the midweek information released today
That's a little worse that I expected, but given everything it's also not a huge surprise. She should at least get a Strictly slot at some point which might help it rebound and add a few thousand sales.
The chorus of Death Of Love reminds me so much of something else but I really can't quite place it.
#89 this week with a huge 77 place drop! Can't say I'm surprised though the album has not clicked with me at all yet.
Big drop for Sophie but there doesn't appear to be the same kind of promotion or buzz compared to Wanderlust.
She did Strictly back then so she was high on popularity.
Pretty video.
Elegant, Come With Us is so colourful that it lost the focus somehow.
She's actually going for a third single from this, 'Wild Forever' and is filming the video in Mexico.
I admire her resilience.
At least the last album got boosts with the single releases though, with this they must literally be hemorrhaging money.
^^ I always wonder how acts like Sophie make it work - it's not like she's recouping from constantly being on tour and selling out shows or would have a big merchandise fan buying base?
She has released physicals, videos etc., for essentially about 5k in sales - there has got to be some hefty loss?
I'm not overly fussed on the original version of the song, but this remix transforms it into a piece of campy dance-pop gold.
Looooove!
Nice! It's funky enough.
The Wild Forever video may be one long extended photoshoot, but she does serve old school glamour movie star in it.
Disappointed how this era has turned out. After the success of 'Wanderlust' I hoped she might carve out a decent 'album artist' career for herself.
Does anyone have an mp3 copy of her BBC performance (The Quay Sessions) from Nov 2016?
The BBC has taken it down from its website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b080xks2
Death of Love is the fourth single, video out soon.
Blimey!
I think that's one of the best on the album though.
Revisited the album this week, Death of Love though also My Puppet heart!
