THIS HAS POSSIBLY BEEN THE BEST YEAR EVER BEING A TALOYR STAN?????
omg HAIM and another Bon Iver collab 😍 amazing
hopefully folklore's sister is hot and knows how to party
i'm kidding i know it's going to be another folk album i just wish it was a bit.. more melodic
Shame the single side will get lost in Christmas rush but omg
UltraEvermore when
I was just so shocked when I read this ❤️ She’s a legend. Can’t wait to listen to this tonight.
I've literally broken down I'm in actuall shock so much omfg!!!
WHATTTTTTTT
Omg coming through for us AGAIN
I honestly can't even cope rn I NEED THIS RN
She literally said I’m gonna bury the albums I don’t have rights to whilst I’m still re-recording them
Taylor let me breathe !!!
HAIM, The National and Bon Iver!!
Time to do my tradition of listening to all her albums again before this drops 😂😂
Whaaaaat well, I loved 'folklore', so can't wait for this <3
OMFG Taylor you almost gave me a heart attack!! I am so shocked by this but so so excited
I rly want tis the damn season to be an Xmas anthem 😂
Gah
2013-2016: 1 album
2017-2020: 4 albums
Omg.
So who’s staying up with me this time round til 5am on here to listen to the album as soon as it drops?! 😂
I've started my full discography listenthrough!!
This time I'm going from start to end, for folklore I listened on shuffle!
Tim McGraw sounding great as ever
track 13:
oh my wasn't expecting another duet with Justin
and a song with the National! I wonder if it's with the full band including Matt too (the singer)
ffs there was a picture of a willow tree in her latest not a lot going on at the moment post!!
any news on formats? Is it out also on CD/vinyl, well, I mean a vinyl-pre-order than will ship in August 2021 or something
OMG SO EXCITED FOR THIS!
I think it will (unfortunately) underperform in comparison to Folklore but should still come with a strong #1 debut, no big singles impact though
I wonder how it'll do on streaming platforms, similar numbers and just lower positions I guess?
yep I think commercially I have no idea how it'll do. But tbh I feel between folklore & this (as long as it lives up to the hype which I'm like certain it will), she's cemented her status as a legend this year and that's more important than anything <3
(I'm gonna open predict threads for this & willow soon!! don't want to overload the forum with so many polls at once though aha so go comment in the others ones up atm!! <3)
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Eo4k9EWXMAAuUC2?format=jpg&name=medium (can't get it in image format)
I hate her at times omg!!! her hints are insane
I still can't believe this is real!!
WOW
was Folklore available on CD from week1? or was it released later?
or was it up for pre-order from week 1?
supposedly all tracks above 3 minutes again & 2 of them above FIVE MINUTES YASSSS we won
OMG the choice of collaborators!!! I'm genuinely excited for this
SHE IS COMING
I'm so ready
10 HOURS.
Who's staying up for first listen at 5am?!
Very excited for this. For some reason I'm expecting this to not hit the highs as 'folklore' but I'm expecting it to be just as consistent and beautiful! So we'll see!
HYPED THO!!
also guys whilst you're here, go vote in part 1 of the ultimate Taylor Swift rate!
(part 2 is coming up v. soon as well x)
more teasing aha!
She really did just skip over 'Lover' byeeee
What? No way!
I'm really excited about all this! I hope we get a physical copy! (or 5,000 different physical copies haha)
Are we getting bonus tracks this time?
I saw the full track listing now.
EVERMORE RELEASE DAY.
5 HOURS OMG.
Really excited to wake up to this!
I was working from home when 'folklore' dropped and did NOT expect to be saying the same thing for her 9th album too
yep she's gonna have playlist cover on NMF and hopefully track 1 as no other big releases today! I don't think Hot Hits has updated either yet so hopefully that means 5am update with Taylor *.*
I can't wait until midnight.
I'm so excited!!
I wonder if anyone else will end up joining us on here when it drops haha
I wouldn’t really consider myself a Taylor stan but both folklore and now this have me very excited! I may join you at 5AM but I do have college tomorrow so that might not be a smart idea
I’m going to stay up for this and I really hope it lives up to expectations!
I wonder if we'll have any news soon on specific tracks etc?! Around now is when we started to find out some of the details about folklore (my tears ricochet first written & written by just Taylor, the teenage love triangle) etc
I just put my Taylor shirt on. I always wear it for listening events!
we love to see it
Are we going to make a special evermore listening thread, or come in here?
we'll do it in here! we did the same for folklore so let's keep it this way aha
TaylorSwiftVEVO I decided on track 5 because of the lyrics of 'tolerate it' and how it's so visual, and conveys such a specific kind of hurt.
TaylorSwiftVEVO There's not a direct continuation of the betty/james/august storyline, but in my mind Dorothea went to the same school as Betty James and Inez. You'll meet her soon
TaylorSwiftVEVO The first one written was dorothea and the last one was happiness (last week!!)
TaylorSwiftVEVO Thematically, we still explored mythology, stories & secrets. Sonically we leaned in & experimented more. Ex. Justin Vernon is on 5 songs playing drums, electric guitar, banjo, synth & sings on 3.
TaylorSwiftVEVO My mind was freed from thinking of anything other than folklore & evermore. (I missed part of this one, sadly.)
TaylorSwiftVEVO I wrote 3 songs with William Bowery!
TaylorSwiftVEVO I have about 50 fav lyrics but right now it's... "Never be so kind you forget to be clever. Never be so clever you forget to be kind."
TaylorSwiftVEVO Yes! The Haim sisters have been my best friends for years and we've played together so many times but this is the first time we've done a song together.
TaylorSwiftVEVO Also The National is one of my all time favorite bands. And there's a really beautiful background vocal on Cowboy Like Me sung by someone I'm a big fan of.
TaylorSwiftVEVO Dawson's Creek and The Office have been my quarantine binge shows. Am I stuck in the past? Yup. Am I sorry? Nope.
TaylorSwiftVEVO Yes! I wrote "No body, no crime" by myself. It was inspired by my obsession with true crime podcasts/documentaries and I used one of my best friends' names as the main character
TaylorSwiftVEVO Happiness is a very deceptive title. That's all I'll say. Also champagne problems is NOT bubbly.
me and my sister and up waiting to listen! very exited to hear this
TaylorSwiftVEVO I wanted evermore to represent fall & winter while folklore represents spring & summer. I've always wanted to do a 2part anthology that's a collective body of work & it just kind of happened naturally
TaylorSwiftVEVO Easter eggs: You've seen my co-star in this video somewhere before. One scene represents how I feel about fame. There's a scene to represent each season throughout the journey of the video
I'MB ACK NOW JUST IN TIME
TaylorSwiftVEVO Jack’s favorite is gold rush. Which takes place inside a single daydream where you get lost in thought for a minute and then snap out of it.
TaylorSwiftVEVO Stella is trustworthy and so creative. I told her I had a secret project & she designed clothes that were EXACTLY what I imagined. I drove to her office, picked them up & took them into the woods!
(at least I can type fairly fast, ha)
2 minutes to go until I start playing this on spotify OMFG
I think there's gonna be between 4-6 of us here!!
I suppose Spotify will be slow loading on my end again like last time.
SECONDS AWAY FROM TS9
OMG IT LOADED FIRST TIME LET"S GO
champagne problems, gold rush, tolerate it, happiness, ivy & cowboy like me all explicit!!
exactly an hour!
TaylorSwiftVEVO There's a scene in the video that represents the song seven, one that represents mirrorball, one for exile, and one for mad woman.
willow is nice so far!
cardigan was def more instant on first listen haha
WILLOW OMFG
My Spotify crashed!
yeah willow is good but I feel it'll grow more aha
This is just great.
the piano on champagne problems whew
CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS IS BEAUTIFUL
yep Champagne Problems is STUNNING whew this is gorgeous
This is really upsetting. I loaded it ahead of time and everything.
yep champagne problems is def one I can see myself coming back to loads
gold rush is interesting, I think I like
THE CHORUS I LOVE
GOLD RUSH I AM F*CKING COLLAPSING
I heard the word "folklore."
This is too much, she spoiled us.
TaylorSwiftVEVO That was so much fun! Thank you for chatting with me tonight. I can't wait to see what you all think of evermore. It's time to go! :snowglobemirrorballtypething:
tis' the damn season is beautiful
merch store updated and CD/Cassette/Vinyl available!
CD - 18th December --> isn't expected to arrive before Christmas
Cassette - 12th February
Vinyl - 28th May (omg!!!!)
Piano!!!!
tolerate it
tolerate it is v. nice too <3
her voice in tolerate it AHHHHHHH
I'm starting to think this album would've been nicer on a first listen if I used earphones rather than my speaker
HAIM COLLAB TIME LETS GO
yep LOVE this. think it might be my highlight so far alongside champagne problems!
Love the country-ish storytelling
NO BODY NO CRIME A FLIPPING COUNTRY SONG OH MY GOD IM IN LOVE
ffs at HAIM serving the chicks on soon you'll get better I wanted them to have more vocals aha!!
Wow, the shipping is a huge punch in the face because of split order option only.
brought it on iTunes *.*
Happiness is also very nice on first listen! I think this isn't hitting me as hard as folklore did 1st listen so far but still love!
ffs I bought the album and forgot to buy willow separately, I did the same with cardigan ahaha
Dorothea is really good!
(I think I'm starting to realise I'm not ready to move on from folklore yet + I am a lot more tired than I thought I was )
Dorothea has betty feels...
Coney Island is great!
Ordered the CD for now. It kills me to only order that, but I still have Christmas gifts to buy.
ivy is really good too, I feel like everything on first listen so far (apart from champagne problems, Coney Island & maybe no body no home) is 8.5 or 9/10
ivy = invisible string, kind of?
yeah I think I'm just gonna get through this listen and then sleep, I'm so tired
Gatsby is my ultimate fave and I didn't even realise supposedly happiness references so much of it cos I'm shattered
Cowboy Like Me ahhhhhh
cowboy like me is rly nice too!
yeah I love this one! the bridge whew <3
https://storeuk.taylorswift.com/
debuts at 12 on UK iTunes already!
Country radio could grab this one.
omg long story short?!?!
LET'S GO that is a switch-up
THIS IS A HIGHLIGHT OMG?!??!
It's SO DIFFERENT TO EVERYTHING ELSE AHAHA
lowkey I thought this was gonna be the vibe the rest of the album was gonna be like when it was announced!
LONG STORY SHORT IS A BOP
yep marjorie is a highlight
I think this might end up the big fan favourite?
lmao sorry with my sister so we are commenting! excited to hear everything after i finish.
i will be a little behind lol
the opening seconds of closure... okay?! I can roll with this
closure is good, interesting but think it's my least fave atm
closure is interesting omfg
so it was Marcus Mumford who is harmonising with Taylor on Cowboy Like Me! that EXPLAINS THAT INTERVIEW the other week when she was at his place or studio or whatever!!
closure piano...of course i'm here for it.
evermore is a really nice closer!
Damn me and my sister got way to behind 😭
first listen ranking:
1. champagne problems
2. coney island
3. no body, no crime
4. tis' the damn season
5. long story short
6. marjorie
7. gold rush
8. willow
9. tolerate it
10. Dorothea
11. evermore
12. cowboy like me
13. happiness
14. ivy
15. closure
this is where I'm at atm I think?? I have no idea. 8-14 are legit all the same.
I def don't instantly love it as much as I did with folklore but everything is still great
I think with how tired I am, this is going to change MASSIVELY after another couple listens
I'm gonna watch the willow video now then head to sleep I think wish I could stay up longer like I did with folklore but my head is banging
Trying to rank is going to be tough, but I'm just going to go with it.
ooh, evermore has piano.
yep I'm gonna listen to this again now and try and sleep so I'll see y'all later for more reactions & about a billion updates!!
I am so shattered!! night <3 <3
(cue me being back in 20 mins x)
On first listen I’m a bit disappointed honestly... it’s beautiful lyrically but the melodies are a bit weak and the songs... seem longer than they actually are. She just set the bar so high with folklore that it was impossible to live up to
also is gold rush the only sole Jack produced song?!
first listen ranking.
1. ivy
2. tolerate it
3. happiness
4. gold rush
5. willow
6. evermore
7. champagne problems
8. marjorie
9. coney island
10. no body, no crime
11. long story short
12. 'tis the damn season
13. cowboy like me
14. dorothea
15. closure
Lyric videos are up!
Just finished watching the willow video. I love the song and the video.
This def hasn't hit me as instantly as 'folklore' did. Not that I particularly dislike or hate any of it, I just need more listens to differentiate my faves and least faves as well as to become more familiar with the tracks.
'gold rush', 'tolerate it', 'no body, no crime', 'long story short' & 'marjorie' are my initial faves. None of which are anywhere near my faves from 'folklore' tho!
Nice, but I'm gonna need to get used to this some more.
i guess i'll have to finally listen to folklore in full since this is out
the bon iver collab is the first and only thing I've listened to so far and it's fab 😭
I think I'm going to need more time to unpack this whole record properly but on first listen 'gold rush' is my firm favourite
Willow, Champagne Problems, Morjorie, Gold Rush & Cloure are my faves.
i really like how this album is much less pop than 'folklore'... deffo really leaning into that adult contemporary sound.
just not sure why all these artists love the term 'champagne problems'???
This isn’t as instant for me as folklore but it’s still SO GOOD.
Taylor has really upped the bar and cemented herself as an ARTIST. 2020 has been a great year for her music
Highlights:
willow
champagne problems
gold rush
tolerate it
no body, no shame
long story short
Another beautiful, high quality album.
Love no body, no crime, great melody, could almost be an early 00s country crossover single.
A lot of songs are very subtle, and bound to be growers, but I love willow, champagne problems and gold rush on first listen. Also really liking closure, quite a switch up in production on that one.
Another very good album. Taylor will be cracking my top 5 music artists ever soon if she keeps this up.
Just starting my first listen.... Willow seems lovely, perfect for Winter
Champagne Problems is nice enough but I didn't find it overly memorable on first listen... Gold Rush is lovely though, the production especially... the highlight so far
ps I also love her coat
Long story short my favourite on first couple of listens
First listen over... it's definitely a nice listen but I agree it's not as immediate as Folklore was. There's nothing here that has hit me as hard as the highs of that but I'll give it a few more plays before making my mind up.
time to listen again *.*
No body no crime becoming an ear worm
^hahah I thought that was the worst one,
hate it when songwriters tell silly made up stories instead of their own
Willow gets better with multiple listens
the collaborations maybe need more time but not impressed on 1st listen
I’ve listened to every song three times and this is my initial order (I think - I’ve found it really hard to order them at this point). I’m sure many of these songs will start to grow on me even more after a few more listens and the order will change:
Willow
Long story short
Champagne problems
Marjorie
Dorothea
Happiness
Cowboy like me
Tolerate it
Tis the damn season
Gold rush
Ivy
Coney Island
No body, no crime
Evermore
Closure
It hasn’t hit me as instantly as folklore has but I excited to listen to it more which is a good sign.
okay I'm already becoming obsessed on this listen ahaha
Champagne Problems is just so utterly stunning, think it might be my favourite on the album.
no body, no crime is FAB!! <3 legit if there was a bit more HAIM I think this would be my fave haha
Gold Rush is really hitting me now, I love the chorus
tis the damn season & tolerate it are both gorgeous, feel like they haven't fully hit me yet aha
happiness is gorgeous, the Gatsby references <3
Dorothea is great too
ivy is really strong too, it reminds me a lot of invisible string
cowboy like me is so good
long story short is such a bop and really stands out!
closure idk about ahaha
they think she did it but they just can't prove it
Coney Island is so goddamn gorgeous
I’m obsessed with willow ... obsessed ....
marjorie is gonna be the underrated gem on this album isn't it?!?!
it reminds me quite a bit of Cornelia Street <3
people have found hints in the artwork that alludes to a third album, would make sense for a trilogy. I enjoy this sound and acclaim for her but I do miss her pop music.
I tried to listen to this earlier but work was too distracting, I was about halfway through so I don't wanna make a judgment too soon, but I enjoyed this a lot more than Folklore.
Goldrush was a nice change, not obviously a pop song but it was nice to hear a higher tempo. Looking forward to just dissolving in bed and listening to this fully later on.
second listen ranking:
1. (1) champagne problems
2. (3) no body, no crime
3. (6) marjorie
4. (7) gold rush
5. (2) coney island
6. (8) willow
7. (5) long story short
8. (4) tis' the damn season
9. (13) happiness
10. (12) cowboy like me
11. (9) tolerate it
12. (10) Dorothea
13. (11) evermore
14. (14) ivy
15. (15) closure
I think I'm somewhere around this atm idk?
champagne problems is def my #1 and a 10/10, closure is definitely last. NBNC is 10/10 for me too and then everything else is still SO close together aha. I'd say there all at least 9/10 and I can see some of them from #3-#10 moving up to 10/10's after a couple more listens haha
I'm loving this but I don't think it's completely hit my ridiculously high expectations after folklore aha
obvs early as ever this is my album ranking (yep ik its early but I kinda knew folklore was gonna be my favourite Taylor album ever by second listen)
1. folklore
2. rep
3. speak now
4. 1989
5. red
(6. evermore)
7. lover
8. fearless
9. Taylor swift
I def think this can overtake red & possibly 1989 eventually! the top 3 trinity is going to remain untouchable this time round though I think
First listen rank, ish:
Willow
No Body, No Crime
Gold Rush
Long Story Short
Champagne Problems
Marjorie
'Tis The Damn Season
Ivy
Coney Island
Dorothea
Evermore
Tolerate It
Closure
Happiness
Cowboy Like Me
Folklore is untouchable but this is very very good, cohesive with enough of the same idea as Folklore but I think it stands as its own body of work instead of just feeling like songs leftover from Folklore. The bottom 2 songs aren't doing anything for me and feel unncessary but the rest are all good at least, Willow down to 'Tis The Damn Season are brilliant and I think there's gonna be a lot of movement in my rankings as I listen more as there's a few groups of songs that are on a similar level for me. Very impressed by the lyricism as usual The way she wrote two albums as good as this and Folklore while re-recording her old stuff, legends only x
champagne problems is such a career highlight I need a live version of this song asap!!
Obsessed with No Body, No Crime essentially being 2020's spin on Goodbye Earl, we stan
It’s interesting to see how widely varied people’s order of favourites are for this album. There doesn’t seem to be a general consensus yet.
She should’ve waited till next week to release her album then she could’ve easily claimed this years Xmas #1 album
https://ew.com/music/taylor-swift-explains-story-behind-no-body-no-crime/
Taylor talking about no body, no crime!
Really liking all of this. It's not quite at folklore levels yet for me I don't think, but that's pretty impossible – it's definitely my favourite of the year.
I like this isn't just folklore pt. ii though, which it easily could've been. Love the more varied styles and production. That closure production!
Having said that though, my two immediate favourites are willow and ivy, two of the most folklore songs on the album probably ha.
willow is so, so gorgeous, already shaping up to be one of my favourite Taylor songs. I just want to listen to it on repeat
yep I'm obsessed now ahaha!!
willow, champagne problems, gold rush, no body no crime, Coney Island, long story short, marjorie are my standouts rn!
Okay so the ones I’m finding myself playing on repeat:
Willow - obsessed
Champagne problems
Dorothea
Long story short
Marjorie
Mostly willow though
So after initially being really disappointed, now I listen again I’m finding more things that I like. Willow was absolutely the best choice for lead single, I love that and the video. No Body, No Crime!!! The Carrie Underwood fan in me is happy lol. Champagne Problems made me cry lol. Marjorie!
However... this album is way too long. It could definitely do with some trimming - Long Story Short, Cowboy Like Me, Closure, Evermore (Exile really didn’t need a sequel sadly!), Ivy, Coney Island, Happiness, Tolerate It, ‘Tis the Damn Season - I only really dislike the first 3 of those but they are way too similar to be on the same album. The second half really drags and some of them are just a chore to get through. It’s annoying because this really could’ve been a great 10 or 11 track project.
I wonder what the 3 chart eligible tracks will end up being?!
willow obviously. I think champagne problems should pretty much be locked as number 2. I feel like we have a battle for 3 between gold rush & HAIM, maybe a couple of other random ones could sneak up to, evermore is doing rly well on deadtunes & they all seem close enough together on Apple Music atm!
Hello Taylor Swift fans, I’d like your advice, which album should I listen to first, Folklore or Evermore?
Folklore!
after a few more listens I'm really loving this, my ranking is starting to set around this:
the faves:
1. Champagne Problems - I think this might remain untouchable, its so f***ing gorgeous
2. No body, no crime (ft. HAIM) - what a country bop, love love, lyrically so good
3. marjorie - this is stunning, love
4. coney island (ft. The National) - this is hitting more & more, the exile of the album for me
5. gold rush - I love the production & the chorus is top 3 on the album
6. willow - loving this so much and keep going back to it, perfect choice for lead single
7. long story short - I love that we got a bop and it slays
the becoming close to faves category:
8. happiness - it's the Gatsby lyrics, this probs should've been track 5
9. dorothea - I love the production & it really stands out
the 9/10's:
10. evermore (ft. Bon Iver) - this feels like daylight where I stan but it's not my absolute fave but works perfectly as a closer
11. tis' the damn season - dropped a bit from my first few listens, it's blending with tolerate it a bit for me
12. ivy - invisible string pt. 2, I like
the hopefully 9/10's soon:
13. tolerate it - it's good but really blending in with a couple of tracks rn
14. cowboy like me - again I really liked this but the last couple of listens I've not loved oops
15. closure - it's interesting, but not a massive fan
Listened to this a few times now and with each listen every song is starting to become more identifiable to me. It's another fantastic effort. I hate that she hasn't given multiple variations of this though. </3 Not sure I like the cover lmao. Ah well.
Now I'm at home and able to process it properly, here's my ranking:
epiphany
exile (feat. Bon Iver)
betty
01. no body, no crime (feat. HAIM)
02. gold rush
this is me trying
my tears ricochet
03. marjorie
04. champagne problems
05. long story short
cardigan
06. tolerate it
07. 'tis the damn season
Mirrorball
08. willow
mad woman
the last great american dynasty
09. coney island (feat. The National)
10. dorothea
11. ivy
august
seven
invisible string
the 1
12. closure > The production is a MESS. But it kinda works!? <
the lakes
illicit affairs
13. evermore (feat. Bon Iver)
hoax
peace
14. happiness
15. cowboy like me
The bottom 3 of 'evermore' I could probably do without, but the experience isn't really changed by having them on the album.
I think I honestly prefer no body, no crime to anything on folklore even, it almost sounds like a karaoke country classic. To be a proper big hit though I think the vocals would have to get a bit more powerful and dramatic in the final minute/choruses (I could even imagine some big ad libs working at the end), but I get that that’s not what they were going for with this song.
I'm going to be controversial and say closure is one of my favourites! Along with no body no crime, long story short and marjorie
Willow 3, whole album top 50 on spotify!!
Entire album is top 25 (along with Kid Cudi's album) in US!
66,395,374 worldwide spotify debut!
fourth biggest debut of the year (after folklore, bad bunny & juice wrld), third biggest female debut ever (after folklore & TUN)
those are just the streams & not counter streams so should go up by a couple of million! (though very unlikely to affect either of the above statistics)
we also have UK MIDS for once!
2nd with 4,503 which is just based off digital copies!! (obvs no streaming yet) and only 73 copies behind #1!!!
no body, no crime is such a highlight *.*
YT views:
willow - 12m (video) + 685k (lyric video)
evermore - 2.239m
champagne problems - 2.209m
no body, no crime - 1.4m
'tis the damn season - 1.288m
dorothea - 1.251m
gold rush - 1.222m
marjorie - 1.1m
tolerate it - 1.095m
happiness - 1.080m
coney island - 991k
long story short - 908k
cowboy like me - 875k
ivy - 872k
closure - 866k
wtf. Why is 'long story short' so low??? ffs.
---
If that's the James album at #1, then I think Taylor has this in the bag! I can't see James holding up throughout the week, especially against Taylor's streams!
of course James is no competition, the real competition is Ball&Boe
I never understand why the vinyl from the UK store is so much more expensive than the exact same item from the US store. Ours is £31 and theirs would be about £20.
Can we talk about how underrated marjorie is?!
I stan it so much 😍
HDD first projection is 300-350k
Folklore increased by 200k from its original projections so hopefully the same will happen with evermore, hoping for 500k+!
My complaint about Closure is that it doesn't go far enough with the production, it's a bit half hearted and they should have done more to twist her vocals to match it. I love the beats but wish there were more of them and it would help if the chorus wasn't one of the worst on the album too. There was a great track somewhere in that concept but it's just not as good as it could and should have been.
That said, I don't absolutely hate it and actually the whole album grew on me a whole lot on second listen today. It's difficult to say how it ranks compared to Folklore so far but I'd say that the best tracks aren't quite as strong as those on Folklore while the worst tracks here are better than the worst ones on Folklore - it's pretty consistent and definitely creates a good vibe.
Long story short or no body no crime my favourites
Sorry for forgetting to follow through with posting on first listen!
Very solid first day streams! Finally ready to do my initial ranking.
1. willow
2. closure
3. no body, no crime
4. long story short
5. gold rush
6. champagne problems
7. coney island
8. happiness
9. ’tis the damn season
10. dorothea
11. cowboy like me
12. marjorie
13. evermore
14. ivy
15. tolerate it
not sure how much hate I will receive for these rankings but the piano on closure is so beautiful. Its a pretty simple song but definitely stands out to me. Excited to see how my rankings change over time though.
lol I was about to comment on that actually! obviously see the appeal and ivy is actually my sisters favorite but the stories just don't connect with me.
I’ve just listened to the album right the way through again I can honestly say there isn’t a track I don’t like.
My thoughts:
Willow & long story short are the two best songs from both albums.
Then, folklore has a few more songs that I prefer than on Evermore.
However, the weakest songs on Evermore appeal to me more than the weakest songs on Folklore - Evermore is a far more consistent album for me.
43.4m 2nd day on spotify! not too bad at all, the positions just look messy due to Xmas aha willow down to 17 on UK spotify but is still the highest non xmas track! she still has the top 5 on US spotify and no body, no crime reached a new peak of 3!
Looking like for sure the 3 UK chart eligible tracks are gonna be willow, no body no crime & champagne problems
#1 in midweeks now
10.4k! folklore was at 14k at this point so I'm guessing this finishes around 30k?
5.3k digital (4.5k day 1, 800 day 2) & 5.1k streaming units
4k ahead of #2 (which is classic diamonds)
Gwon Taylor come through 6th straight number 1 fingers crossed
first look upcoming in the next couple hours!
cardigan was 4, the 1 5 & exile 7 in the Sunday first look
I'm expecting 4, 12 and 14 in first looks for whichever songs chart, and then perhaps 6, 19 and 21 for final. Pure guess but all down to christmas impact
I’m gonna go a bit more optimistic for this update! 😮 I’m going to say 3, 8 and 10! (Though for final I think I’m pretty much in agreement that I see them around those numbers haha!)
yep I was too optimistic
no body, no crime is first up at 15! champagne problems 12 <3
A few songs in (will listen to the rest soon) and 'Willow' is decent enough, did repeat play it couple of times as it didn't strike me straight away but it's great I think I prefer 'Champagne Problems' and 'Gold Rush' more though especially the latter loving the flow of it and then the key change *.* love it.
think this album is her slowest burner (listener wise) since her debut... 'no body no crime' and 'happiness' are my faves atm
#1 in midweeks this seems to be doing folklore numbers but a day later so I'm guessing it finishes the week around 30k?

Album #1 on Monday's mids with 14.5k units so far!
Oh man she's so dumb for not releasing it two weeks later. She could've easily gotten a chatt double.
also expect big Apple Music promotion coming in the next few days!
she's their winner of songwriter of the year at the Apple Music awards. Today they're recognising Megan Thee Stallion for breakthrough and she's literally taken over the entire Apple Music homepage so hopefully the same will happen for Taylor soon and give the evermore tracks a boost *.*
I'm listening to a playlist of folklore and evermore tracks back to back (e.g. the 1 then willow then cardigan then cp then tlgad etc) and it's SO good
and gonna make this a new post because might split off into a separate topic:
she's on Jimmy Kimmel tonight! I wonder if anything's going to happen her last three tweets have contained 3 emoji's, then 2 emoji's, then 1 emoji and we all know Taylor loves a countdown haha
also I think it's just an interview afaik and no musical performance
Thinking willow could debut number one in the US on singles? Would be an amazing record? She was the first artist to debut 1 on album AND single so this would make it her second after forklore!
still 1 in midweeks, Diamond + Ball/Boe both outsold her yesterday but hopefully evermore has already done enough to keep the #1

Curious who goes clean and who goes explicit, I know it's literally only a couple of words
Really hoping Willow can nab the number one spot across the pond! The two new remixes and their videos should help!
Hoping Evermore can clear 30k here by the end of play and also really want it to clear 500k in the States but not sure how likely that is considering it’s projected to do 350k.
Her Apple Music interview for songwriter of the year is happening now and it's so good!
Third remix of Willow has been released (Moonlit Witch Version); hopefully this will guarantee a number one debut in the States!
I thought she was creatively spent last year — 'ME!' remains one of the worst lead singles by an artist of her calibre ever — and yet here we are with her best work yet.
It's more daring than 'Folklore' and houses her best, most intricate, and complex songwriting. The production flourishes throughout are so well done and thoughtful. What a year.
no wonder why Spotify is giving her zero support atm if she's got all those Apple thingies going on
I can't believe this album is already nearly a week old
I've barely listened to anything else all week (unsurprisingly)! <3
Marjorie has been my slow burner of this album, like with Folklore I keep getting new faves but I'd say it's my 2nd fave behind Willow
hopefully we're getting the bonus tracks today! (either on streaming or leaked haha)
Yep bonus tracks have leaked!
My local shops weren’t stocking this 😭
right where you left me is the most uptempo song alongside long story short
I really like it! It reminds me of something that could easily fit on fearless/speak now
no body, no crime debuts top 20 yasss
Best song on the album! Very well deserved
another #1 album
champagne perfection top 15
The first artist in four years to hold the Number 1 spot with two different albums in a calendar year, since David Bowie scored two Number 1s across January - February 2016 with Blackstar and Best of Bowie following his death.
Swift has achieved her six Number 1s in record time among female artists, eight years, surpassing Madonna’s 11 years (between 1997 – 2008). It is also the fastest accumulation of six chart-toppers since both Robbie Williams and Westlife achieved six Number 1 albums between 2000 – 2006.
QUEEN. <3
The bridge of Marjorie is the most Taylor has broken me since the bridge of All Too Well tbh
27,532!
I'm happy enough with that, was hoping for +30k but that's still a great number
'right where you left me' is such a good song! Idk why it is "just a bonus track". I love how natural her voice sounds on this.
'it's time to go' - this is nice. I get why it's a bonus track though. Lovely end to the album though.
I can't stop listening to right where you left me I need this officially ASAP!!
this really should've been on the main album
Just outside the top 10 in first mids so we should easily be on for another week top 10 once streaming data gets added!

I'm shocked Evermore not even sold half of Folklore in debut week in the US. What went wrong?
#3 in the UK midweeks, looking like a great 2nd week atm
US chart:
#1, Willow
#21, Champagne Problems
#34, No Body, No Crime ft. Haim
#39, ’Tis The Damn Season
#40, Gold Rush
#45, Tolerate It
#52, Happiness
#57, Evermore ft. Bon Iver
#61, Ivy
#63, Coney Island ft. The National
#67, Dorothea
#68, Long Story Short
#71, Cowboy Like Me
#75, Marjorie
#82, Closure
Champagne problems being so close to going top 20
Just noticed I never commented on this, I went in with somewhat low expectation expecting just leftovers but obviously that was not the case. As most seem to have said it isn't Folklore levels, it doesn't quite have the captivating feel of Folklore, but its still a great collection of songs and it sounds SO good in the cold weather
Cowboy like me is slowly becoming a fave of mine and I love the underrated closure.
another week top 2 yassss
2nd week at #1 in US, which I don’t think it was predicted to do
hey look it's my fashionably late take on this album
I think this has a similar number of highlights to 'folklore' but the album as a whole I think is a slight downgrade just because there are a few more indistinct/forgettable tracks - possible that some of them might grow on me but at the moment I think I'd say 'dorothea', 'ivy', 'cowboy like me', ''tis the damn season' and sadly 'evermore' are all pretty expendable tracks, so that's a full third of the album compared to only 2 or 3 songs on 'folklore' (I don't dislike any of those songs as much as 'betty' but with that song I still at least respect it even if it's musically not for me). I wouldn't say there's a huge gap in quality between the two albums though which is in itself a pretty good achievement considering how close together they were released!
Seems to be an unpopular opinion but I think she picked the correct song to be the lead single again - the instrumentation on 'willow' just feels so instantly warm and fuzzy for lack of better words <3 and the whole song just has such an ~enchanting~ quality to it. Don't love it quite as much as 'cardigan' but I think I'd say it is my 2nd favourite song from the 'folklore'/'evermore' eras combined. Not me being such a mainstream whore xx My other biggest highlights are 'marjorie' (this is the 'epiphany' of this album being just too good for general public plebs isn't it ), 'tolerate it', 'gold rush' (these two along with 'willow' having my favourite instrumentals on the album) and 'long story short' (that one being some much needed energy on the album immediately following 2 of its least essential tracks). 'closure' felt a little out of place but I do appreciate the experimentation on it and it turned out pretty good imo although I can see why it's divisive! 'champagne problems' a pretty lovely song, not getting huge standout vibes from it as a lot of other people are but it is just in my top half of the album.
I had no idea what to expect from 'no body, no crime', I was excited for a Taylor/HAIM collab but that excitement was a bit dampened by learning that HAIM are barely on it and it was being compared to 'Before He Cheats' which I really don't like at all. The song turned out to be... ok ~ might be a grower - I don't think it helps that a lot of its appeal is coming from the lyrics and I am pretty bad at paying attention to lyrics especially when listening through full albums, I'll try and pay more attention on a relisten 'coney island' sounded pretty much exactly as I expected it to (i.e. like a The National song with Taylor singing on it) which isn't a bad thing.
First listen ranking:
1 willow
2 marjorie
3 tolerate it
4 gold rush (these last two are fairly interchangeable, could easily swap over with another listen)
5 long story short
6 closure
7 champagne problems
8 happiness
9 coney island
10 no body, no crime
11 'tis the damn season
12 evermore
13 cowboy like me
14 ivy
15 dorothea
Looking forward to hearing the other 2 tracks as 'the lakes' ended up being better than half the songs on the main tracklist of 'folklore'.
got my physical copy today yasss so glad to have the bonus tracks legally now haha *.*
100 chart: https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/9505352/taylor-swift-extends-artist-100-chart-record/
#1 in the mids with a 1k lead!
Hopefully it can hold on and get a 2nd week, think it’s gonna be close with both little mix and Harry stans fighting to go #1 for the first time
I hope this does go back to #1 this week even if probably will be with the lowest sales for a #1 album ever lel
BTW this album is really full of growers - mostly it's just the songs I already loved that have clicked with me even more (particularly 'marjorie' and 'tolerate it', but also 'gold rush' and 'long story short' have been growing on me more too, I feel like the latter is this album's 'august' in terms of having the stickiest hook) but I've also really got into 'no body, no crime' now after initially not entirely getting it. Keeps reminding me of 'Secret' by The Pierces every time I hear it ~

Long story short is absolutely amazing - I love it - it does have an awesome hook. Probably one of my favourites from both albums. It would be interesting to have to rate the songs from both albums...
my album ranking after a month:
perfection:
1. champagne problems
11/10:
2. willow
3. no body, no crime
4. marjorie
5. right where you left me
6. gold rush
faves:
7. Coney Island (ft. The National)
8. long story short
9. happiness
love:
10. 'tis the damn season
11. cowboy like me
12. dorothea
13. ivy
14. evermore (ft. Bon Iver)
15. it's time to go
solid:
16. closure
still ofc loving and spamming this! CP is by far my favourite on the album, the first time since probs 1989 that I've had a clear fave on an album!! that top 3 is v. secure as well and I adore the top 6. I for sure prefer folklore by miles tho (which has solidified itself as my favourite album ever), gonna do a ranking of the two albums combined soon! However this album is still so great, nothing I don't love bar closure but there's about another 4/5 tracks that I'm not rushing out of my way to listen to anymore aha! I think overall this is 5th/6th for me in her discography (neck and neck with Red, evermore is far better as an album itself & flows way better as Red has too much filler but the first 5 songs of Red...)
'tolerate it' erasure
(My ranking of the album is actually shockingly similar to yours, apart from 'closure' being a lot higher and 'champagne problems' lower xx I'd say since the original ranking I posted, since which I've heard every song at least one more time, I'd now possibly move 'tolerate it' ahead of 'marjorie', would push 'no body, no crime' up to #7 and would swap over 'ivy' and 'dorothea', the rest still seems about right. Not heard the bonus tracks yet ofc)
i can't stop playing 'coney island'
i can't stop playing 'coney island'
Silver hopefully we’ll get an overall sales update at somepoint as we only know it’s first week sales atm!
'It's Time To Go' is such an apt song title to be near the top of the iTunes chart this week anyway!
I just listened to it and it isn't about Trump, alas!
champagne problems 42 this week so close to a 2nd week top 40 argh, probs its last chance too
#1 in the album chart again yasss!!! evermore's 2nd week at #1 and fourth week top 2 & is Taylor's 2nd album now to spend more than one week at 1!
also avoided achieving the lowest album sales ever for #1 by 13 copies, screaming at it being 13!!
13 copies ! Wow lol. What’s got the record for the lowest number one?
But who cares, a number one is a number one !!
What are the chances of it getting another number one next week!??
Another week at 1 in America
Another week top 3 would be great, matching Folklore's 5 weeks top 3
45 weeks!: https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/9510048/taylor-swift-spends-45-weeks-atop-artist-100-chart
#1 in US: https://www.upi.com/Entertainment_News/Music/2021/01/16/Taylor-Swifts-Evermore-tops-US-album-chart/8641610809842/
So that’s 1-1-2-1?
What was Folkores initial chart run? I believe it also had non consecutive weeks at #1?
Yeah what’s with the random jumps?!
I forgot Folklore spent so many weeks at number one on release.
I wonder how many more weeks Evermore can get @ #1.
Ah right okay, that makes sense. I’m guessing there won’t be a lot of promotion going on but maybe some kind of signed copies - you never know with Taylor. Glad it got 3 weeks at a#1 anyway.
Thanks for writing the chart run btw.
I wonder why we didn't get any signed copies of evermore.
yay we're getting more spotify EP chapters ffs
the hashtag symbols next to willow, folklore, evermore, tis the damn season, betty, cardigan & exile are all gone!!
Something coming?! folkmore era over probably not but still
A third album would be epic.
we love album even if not ago good as folklore!! (I am osber xx)
Listened to this a few times now, I don't think it's overall as strong as Folklore but it's more consistent, there are songs on Folklore I skip but not on this. Long Story Short is my favourite song on it, lyrically it's superb but also think it's the song from either album that most feels like a National song so that probably contributes.
I’ve been listening to this on repeat over the last couple of weeks – this and folklore are such perfect albums for winter
It’s only just behind folklore for me now, adore both of them so much.
coney island and marjorie have both grown on me so much since first listen, they’re two of my absolute favourites now along with willow, ivy, long story short, closure and evermore.
invisible string and ivy are the ultimate two for me across the two albums 😍
ugh tolerate it and no body, no crime are some of my favourites too, there are too many.
^Good choices for favorites.
this managed to miraculously climb back into the top 10 for another week last week after the midweeks suggested it wouldn't!
Looks like it'll fall out of the top 10 this week but let's hope not!
iTunes US:
evermore deluxe version: #5
evermore standard version: #8
I wonder why we didn't get any signed copies of these.
yikes plummets to 37 in the UK this week folklore is about to overtake it (which is 40 this week!)
I guess there's a chance both finally drop out the top 40 next week gah
I’m not surprised really - there hasn’t been anything to create a buzz or hype. It had its moment and now it’s being left to die.
Certified Gold this week!
Yassss we love to see it
Def took longer than I was expecting but glad it's there now!
Yeah love evermore but she moved onto the rereleases too quick to give it its fair time to shine
drops out the top 40 for the first ever time just 15 weeks consecutively top 40
folklore still top 40 though!
That’s a shame but actually not so bad I guess considering it has had zero hype or promotion since its release. I wonder if there’s hope it could ever return. I guess it depends on whether they push it in any way, including any performances maybe.
Evermore seems to be predicted to be back inside the top 40
@ 35. Fingers crossed she gets another week top 40!
Evermore chart run U.K. - 1, 2, 2, 1, 3, 9, 8, 10, 16, 13, 18, 37, 35, 30, 33, 44, 45
Evermore back in the top 40 at 38 !
tolerate it has become one of my favourite recent Taylor songs. Totally relate to the line: “I wait by the door like I’m just a kid” and it’s quite a heartbreaking song
'tolerate it' is one of my favourites from the album too! It has a tendency to come on shuffle a lot when I'm in the bath and that's an activity that lends itself well to appreciating lyrics fully, as I'm not concentrating on anything else. Painstakingly heartbreaking indeed.
I love tolerate it.
not 1989 about to overtake this on the UK charts and I oop
Aww I wish this had been given a bigger push - really think it had the potential to do so much better commercially.
Number 65 this week. Maybe last week top 75 as falling fast.
Signed CD’s available on her store for a limited amount of time!
(Tho ofc I was asleep when it dropped so the international ones are already not available 😭😭)
omg i got so excited when i saw her post about them only to find it said not available 😭
I'm surprised they didn't have signed copies of evermore sooner.
I always miss these things
I spontaneously pre-ordered the green evermore vinyl from Target earlier.
f***ing hell I didn’t realise Loser has overtaken this on the US album chart 😮
everbomb indeed x
It wasn't helpful that she moved on from this album so quickly, it puts it at a major disadvantage over previous albums that have more hits to accumulate streaming sales
At least it'll have a final moment of glory in vinyl release week!
First pictures of evermore on vinyl:
The vinyl looks great!
My green vinyl turned up today! It's gorgeous
I'm waiting for my green vinyl to come in the mail.
Wowzers - her power! Back into some charts looks on the cards then...
Edit: Early prediction to rise to number 2 in the US. Not sure about the UK yet...
Extraordinary figures for a vinyl Go Taylor *.*
I received my copy yesterday Hope it's a huge seller here in the UK too!
100K on vinyl alone is crazy
Particularly considering that there’s only a couple of variants of the vinyl in the US!
help why are her team pushing so hard today for this to return to #1 in America this week, serving the trinity alongside Me! release week & willow's 75,000 remixes
Anyway those vinyl sales are insane
Good to see Evermore back at number 4
7,900 physical copies sold, majority of obviously vinyl. I was kind of expecting a bit more tbh considering Lana sold double but perhaps it was rather expensive for some people. Great to see it back in the Top 5 regardless!
My green vinyl came in the mail yesterday!
She's predicted to go #1 in the US now but the gap is so close it could go either way Those digital albums might have actually done the trick lmao
Oh I hope so. So cool if she gets back to number 1
https://headlineplanet.com/home/2021/06/04/taylor-swifts-evermore-dominates-us-album-sales-race-in-tight-race-for-1-on-overall-chart-with-olivia-rodrigos-sour/
Source: Billboard
Evermore sold 102,000 on vinyl in the week ending June 3, following its May 28 vinyl release, shattering the mark for the biggest vinyl sales week for an album in the U.S. since MRC Data began tracking sales in 1991. It more than doubles the prior record-holder, Jack White's Lazaretto, which opened with 40,000 in vinyl sales in June 2014.
I see that Evermore rose from number 74 to 1 in the US last week!
It sold 202,000 units
Total sales for evermore so far = 1,294,000 units
Chart run in the US: 1-1-2-1-2-4-3-7-11-6-15-16-25-17-20-31-33-29-41-45-54-54-61-74-1
I was thinking it was a little odd that the vinyl sales for 'evermore' were apparently so much higher than 'folklore' (and, before that, it seemed a bit odd that 'positions' apparently had higher vinyl sales than 'folklore' too) but apparently it is just that the vinyl sales of 'folklore' were counted as digital sales due to it being before the rule changes on bundles - not to take away from how impressive her vinyl sales are this time but I think the whole record breaking aspect of it may be a little misleading.
i've really found myself returning to this recently... i guess it's got that hot sun vibe to it? I dunno. I read someone say they thought it was a wintery album.
I feel like it’s more of a winter album but probably cause that’s when I listened to it alot and so that’s
what I associate it with. Glad you’re getting back into it. I think willow is my fav song ever now for Taylor.
tbh their both just v. great albums and i find myself finding new qualities to enjoy.
Aaron Dessner revealed that almost 30 songs were written for 'folklore', and 'evermore' during DIY Magazine August 2021 issue.
"We wrote almost 30 songs, and when you work that hard and you go through that process, you invariably come out of it in good shape," he said during the interview. “I was learning a lot from Taylor Swift, from her acumen and the way she works. She’s just very down to earth and kind, and absurdly talented in a very visceral way."
The songwriter and producer spoke of an “electricity” in the room when an idea came together between himself and Taylor, one that “didn’t feel any different than any other creative situation with artists”. “I was just really moved by what was happening, and encouraged by how lovely and hardworking she is,” Dessner added.

Cannot believe it’s been 3 years (bumping this sliiihtly early lol). I wasn’t a super fan at the time but I do remember loving willow at the time! And now it’s one of my fave Taylor albums. So so so underrated, and imo it’s her best album lyrically! I come back to this every winter and each time I pick up on a new thing that I love! This winter it’s been cowboy like me! Got my flannel out of my wardrobe to wear tomorrow
