Will they manage their 7th consecutive #1 album, or will Adele be too strong a force to topple?
1. A Head Full of Dreams
2. Birds
3. Hymn for the Weekend
4. Everglow
5. Adventure of a Lifetime
6. Fun (Ft. Tove Lo)
7. Kaleidoscope
8. Army Of One
9. Amazing Day
10. Colour Spectrum
11. Up&Up
I would venture to say a Greatest Hits album will be their final release.
They should pull the release back a couple of weeks or in the new year
Another "HUGE" guest this Friday on Radio 1. I wonder if it's Chris/Coldplay with a new single.
I would argue Coldplay are more likely to get a Hottest Record status rather than big Breakfast time first play. I think Magic was a HR as was Christmas Lights lol. But you never know...
Hmm I hope this can at least get one week at Number 1. It would be a shame to see them not get their seventh Number 1 album. I think in the Christmas market and with the right lead single it can manage at least one week.
With their last few albums, the second single has done much better chart wise than their first, so hopefully they will put out a killer single to build that hype up!
I find it strange a few artists are releasing on the 4th December, seems a bit late to use the Xmas market - the2/3 weeks before this makes more sense but suppose the album could get decent promo in January and continue into 2016. Although for some like Fleur East it could be a stupid release date.
I'd be pretty surprised if this managed to get to #1, it's up against Adele's 3rd week when her sales will still be absolutely massive most likely (especially as it's in December). Their last album did significantly worse than all the previous ones (after they'd been fairly consistent before that), and that 'Miracles' song made absolutely no impact, I think they'll need to really pull it out of the bag with the new single to even have a chance.
Excited for this anyway ~ Really hoping this isn't their last album (they've never specifically said it is, only hinted at it).
Hopefully a lot more songs like Midnight.
As much as I loved the more low key stuff on Ghost Stories, I would actually love for this to be a bit more like X&Y, would be great to hear some more really energetic guitar stuff from them. That's one of my favourite albums ever as a whole. Apparently though this is going to be "something colourful and uplifting" and something to "shuffle your feet to".
I think it would be ideal for them to release their album either 29th January or 5th February (preferably 29th January) as sales for Adele's album will have died down by then
I've never really liked Coldplay much at all really in the past but the new single is VERY good, the instrumental especially is very well crafted. Hopefully this gives the hype they need to knock off Adele for a week in the albums, just don't want 25 to be #1 for so long
Just heard them on radio 1 and collabs on the album include Beyoncé, Noel Gallagher, Tove Lo and Stargate.
The new single sounded pretty good!
Track list added to the main post. Looking forward to the Tove Lo collab!
Love the new single already! I'm hopeful for a seventh Number 1 album. Hopefully they will get an X Factor slot to promote it!
I already feel as though this has more hype than the last album. Coldplay Vs 3rd week Adele will be a very fun chart battle.
Loving this song *.* Cant wait for the album now
this is so good love the album cover too
Can't see anything, except maybe the sudden death of a huge star, knocking Adele off in her third week.

Loving this single, sounds very different from the last era, a lot more 'experimental' sounding like something from the Viva la Vida album, which is great as that's a fantastic album. Seeming already quite a bit different from the last album, which did stick out a bit after Mylo Xyloto.
I do hope the fact it's not come out just over a year after the last doesn't mean the album's too rushed and, if rumours are true, is a fitting last hurrah. Looks like either way they might lose their number 1 album streak.
I think it's pretty much agiven that Adele will be #1 on everything everywhere with this new album of hers until June (exact date TBC) next year. They'll still get high sales though, it's Coldplay! Love the new single, very in keeping with the 'Mylo Xyloto' era of their music which I loved. *pops the album on Christmas list*
'hymn for the weekend', 'everglow' and 'army of one' alone make this album so much better than ghost stories.
Coldplay always say they will be away for a while or this is our last album but they always return!
confirmed to be headlining the superbowl
bey and riri cameos pls
birds thoooo <3 (the ending is so shit however haha)
the album is so surprisingly enjoyable on the whole! slowly getting back to the viva la vida/x&y days <3
Bought my copy today. £9 in sainsburys
Love Fun and Up&Up, solid album overall, I much prefer it to Ghost Stories.
every song is so beautiful. as beautiful as guy berryman himself. please don't let the rumours of this being their last album be true :/
This is a really good album. MUCH prefer it to 'Ghost Stories' which I didn't really return to at all. Would be an up-lifting, fun and vibrant way to end their career if it's true.
Listened to this for the first time today, and about three times. It's really, really good. I wasn't keen on 'Adventure of a Lifetime', but that could change and all. 'Everglow' is pretty. 'Fun' was instant love too. Can't wait to sink my teeth into this further.
This is indeed a lovely little album, a bit like the lost cousin of Mylo Xyloto and Viva La Vida, very uplifting and stadium-esque all the way through really but somehow not sounding like a total rehash. Ghost Stories was great in it's subtlety, but this definitely sounds a lot more cohesive and appealing than that did. Would be a perfect way to say goodbye if it really is happening </3
I think any of these could work well as singles - My favourites are the last three, particularly Up&Up and Army of One, love a good six minute anthem!
'Adventure of a Lifetime' has grown
The album has its moments, but I'm afraid it's their swan song, sad to say. And they are an honest band, not yet resorting to dubstep nor autotuned vocals.
Their 90's hits & albums are better.
don't get why Fun or Hymn weren't the lead single, much better than Adventure, guess they're saving them for later singles so the album has more legs than Ghost Stories... Hymn could be a great single in a couple months, with Fun following in the summer with a great video with Tove Lo
Beyoncé's parts in this song are stunning I enjoyed the video too but it didn't excite me as much as I would've loved for it to.
absoluely STUNNING video. great single choice as it's best song on the album by far. the video/song pairing is pretty much perfect as well.
Literally been OBSESSED with 'Hymn for the Weekend' since the video release. Their best since 'Paradise' for me.
Beyoncé is so effortless but her parts are so perfect in it. Her three recent features have all been flawless and three of my favourite singles of the past 12 months.
(and the media criticism of the video is BEYOND ridiculous)
"I'd be very surprised if there was another conventional Coldplay album. I just feel like we're right where we're supposed to be right now, A Head Full Of Dreams is like a closing chapter of something. I don't think we'll split up as a band, but hopefully we'll work out something to do at some point."

Is it the end for Coldplay as we know it?
Still a more positive sign than what I thought was happening: a complete disbandment.
This had completely bypassed me when I listened to the album, it was probably in my top half of the songs but I'd never really listened to it since. But seeing Coldplay at Wembley with this as the closing song worked so well, the chorus really gets in your head. And ever since then I've loved it more and more to the stage where it is probably in my top 5 Coldplay songs ever now. The Glastonbury performance was just fantastic with the mini kids choir, and I even love the full 6 minute version and not just the radio edit now.
It's a shame this hasn't taken off the way it should've done but at least it's getting a final boost now!
Absolutely Love Cold Play
