The 5 year anniversary since the Rated R release is approaching and I felt we should celebrate it.
Can I just say this is the one of the most iconic and interesting major pop star albums ever. Still the edgiest of her efforts to-date. Of course not THAT dark and edgy but sitting somewhere there balancing between Selena Gomez and ARTPOP.
Loved EVERYTHING about that era. Hard and Wait Your Turn are too iconic to handle tbh, especially since they are opening the album. Te Amo and Cold Case Love are f***ing fab although the former does sound like it belongs to another record oops. But you can say a song about lezzing it up can be considered as edgy. G4L is quite terrific as well.

Never been a huge fan of RiRi but I love and appreciate her versatility. She can be a down-with-y'all hoe, sensual & sexy woman, edgy bitch, girl next door. And still pulling everything off. she can flip you off but you'll still love her. If not love her more. Amazing.
Can't believe it's been five years... wow.
Still by far her best album and one of my favourite albums ever. Love how everyone was expecting her to come back with an absolute #banger and instead she released 'Russian Roulette'. ICONIC. I think that's why Rihanna will always be my favourite of the 'main' popstars, you're never sure what kind of direction she'll go down.

Used to be absolutely obsessed with 'Hard', it would definitely be my most played song ever if I had any way of working that out amongst my many dabbles with last.fm haha. Still love it just as much today and certainly in my top 3 Rihanna songs if not my favourite.
The videos for this era were perfect too (well, the 'Te Amo' one could've been better but shh), really hope with R8 she pulls it out the bag and delivers the whole package again like she did with this!
Definitely her opus, you can tell she had so much more input into this album than the others. I'd love something like this again, but that last piece of shit she gave us doesn't fill me with much hope.

'Rockstar 101' is my favourite but they should never have tried to make that a single, so much attitude and spunk. Also 'Fire Bomb' should have been a single instead of 'Te Amo', and 'Cold Case Love' is just simply stunning. Her best vocals ever.
I haven't heard it in ages, but it still remains her best album and a favourite of mine. I need to have a playday soon!
Absolutely, without a doubt her best album. It's the only one which actually sounds cohesive throughout and not just that it's almost all killer too. I wish she would be as brave/daring with her music again, but clearly the $$$ is better this way.

Perfection. Quite seriously the first album I remember having for myself and loving completely, it's still right up there amongst my favourite albums, and is probably my favourite pop album ever. I wish she'd do stuff like this all the time.
The opening of Mad House still feels very poignant for me, call to arms and all that and it never really slows down with the quality.

Not a weak spot there. All those 10s are among her very best, if ever there was an album deserving of a rating like that it's this.
Her best album without a doubt. Would rank v highly in an all-time rank for me too. It's SO cohesive, you can hear the pain in the tender moments and enjoy/SWAGOUT to the other moments. A clear vision, executed to perfection.

All relative, so an 8 on here is probably a 9/10 on most other albums. I used to think 'Photographs' was the big weakpoint but it has grown considerably on me.
I long for her to return to this level of output.

'Te Amo' is the only weak link for me. Just so, meh. But everything else is stellar! It's one of those that, whilst it has the obvious highlights, you still appreciate it more listening to it as an album/full body of work. So stunning. As much as I prefer 'Loud', this still feels like it's her best work. 'Loud' is just more appealing, commercially. But the two of them make the perfect 1-2 combo!
By far her best album, the moment I heard Russian Roulette it became my facourite Rihanna song. Still well up in my top 3.

Really the only Rihanna album worth listening to.
I haven't listened to it in a while but I remember not being very fond of the last two tracks and 'Stupid in Love'.

Whilst Loud is my favourite of hers just about, this runs it close. I'd love the next album to be like this, it wasn't chasing trends at all and felt innovative and explorative but still felt like Rihanna 100%.
Listen again.
Cold Case Love is a beautiful song. I love that she added it to the medley on the Diamonds World Tour.
Fire Bomb is my favourite song on this album, and probably the best album track in her discography.
'Cold Case Love' really is just so so spellbinding, I really think her best vocals are on display in this track. The way it builds to the climax towards the end is just orgasmic.

Definitely my favourite RiRi's album as the lowest score is a 6 for "Photographs" and it's still acceptable.
FireBomb and The Last Song are my two favourites, and TLS is a perfect song to end this stunning album
