November is still quite a way off and by then, people will have started to forget about his felonies. I suspect his convictions will have little impact on his hard core fan base but might impact on some undecided voters but most Americans appear to be saying the alternative is not great neither.

Not nonsense. He's a criminal. It’s not a crime to pay a pornstar nor is it one to pay her hush money to keep it secret. Now we don’t even know if that happened. The main witness was his former lawyer who turned out to be lying in the trial and was himself sent to prison not long ago for being a fraudster. The actual reality is that trump doesn’t even deal with this stuff, some staffer just put it on the expenses file as there no hush money option and nobody would have foreseen it ever being a criminal matter because 99.9% of the time it wouldn’t be. Just so happens an election is coming up and so they’re scouring things from 10 years ago to create trumped up charges. Most people can see that hence it just feeds into a witch hunt narrative. I had to see these idiots genuinely believe the election was rigged and trump really won now they seem vindicated when stuff like this happens. Almost certainly this will help trump as an injustice feeling is the strongest motivator you can have. It’s all pointless as he can appeal and he will probably win the appeal since it’s a bunch of BS and by then he will be president and the legit cases against him won’t see the light of day ‼️ |

Except ... it is. And a jury agreed? He used campaign finance to do this, which is HIGHLY ILLEGAL, as the jury confirmed, so...

All the evidence was backed up by recordings and written documents. Twelve people, who had been vetted to avoid pro- or anti-Trump bias found him guilty. Thirty-four times. Trump is a criminal. |

First you had various lunatics trying to stop Trump even being on the ballot in their states which was always going to fail but they tried anyway, how counterproductive is that?
Then you got these charges. Fareed Zakaria a well respected journalist described it like this “ Liberal democracies should avoid the temptation of using illiberal means, even when they confront views and positions that are forthrightly hostile toward liberal democracy itself. I worry about some of the court cases against Trump. While they might be technically legitimate, some involve offenses that happened years ago and for which he was not charged at the time. Would he have been charged for these were he not the controversial political figure he is today? So far, these efforts to rule him beyond the pale are not working. Despite 88 felony counts and all the censure of the media elite, he’s leading in the polls. After all, his supporters are fueled by the belief that a group of overeducated liberals with no regard for them runs this country. So how do you think they will react when a group of lawyers in big cities come up with clever ways to make Trump ineligible to run for the presidency?” https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...eralism-threat/ The main witness was literally exposed as lying on the stand about crucial testimony, and it still didn't matter because they had a clearly political judge and a jury picked from one of the most democratic districts in America https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-69024649.amp It was clear to anyone not blinded by Trump hate this was similar to trying to get him off the ballot just a hit job for the sake of it. The other case against him was also a sham, fined half a billion dollars for saying Trump tower was worth more than it was to obtain loans he paid back on time? Something everybody in business does and was only prosecuted due to politically motivated people in power. Do you not see how third world or sketchy that looks? Using politically motivated means to use the law to try and financially cripple your political opponents? This is stuff you expect from Putin or north Korea or mugabe of the past. Its simply not acceptable and a terrible look for anyone paying attention. The irony being there are a lot of genuine terrible things Trump has done in his life and he is a con man but this stuff is garbage. People like Trump don't have real friends, everything is superficial and that's why a lot if his biggest critics were once allies as he was using them and they were using him and this stuff is just an extension of that, they're still using him for attention and money just as critics now. They using the pro-trump people then the anti-trump people. Its why some of the worst people on earth are the biggest vocal critics of trump. Michael Cohen now being one, purely opportunistic ethicless people. These type of people being main witnesses in political hitjobs shouldn't be celebrated if you ask me because now the first thing Republicans will do when they get power again is try to bend the law to prosecute whoevervtgey can, Hillary, Barack whoever. Just a pointless slippery slope. |

Well, forgive us for thinking access to the highest office in the world should be predicated on not being a career criminal. Trump can no longer effectively carry out the office of president, he will not be able to enter many foreign countries, he will face resistance from domestic ministries. Not that he should have ever been able to take it if the justice system had kept up, but such an immoral and irredeemable bastard being convicted by some of his previous acts coming home to bite him is a good thing, actually.
QUOTE Liberal democracies should avoid the temptation of using illiberal means, even when they confront views and positions that are forthrightly hostile toward liberal democracy itself That whole quote is rubbish but this especially is literally how liberal democracies are destroyed by fascist actors, if they ignore such hostile actors. He should be convicted and barred from office for his actions and words around both Jan 6 and his 2024 campaign so far and it's so far only been a very conservative Supreme Court that he stacked himself that's saved him. |

Cohen's evidence was backed up by recordings and written documents. That's why attempts to discredit him failed.

I am genuinely stunned at this. Using a political prisoner situation for VOTES! Absolutely and truly VILE! The US are even further in the pits than even we are. |

btw I saw a tiktok the other day and this guy was saying what I was saying before. The 500 mill fine for almost the most minor thing ever just makes new York unsafe for business. Everything is on hold until the laws become clear. Very dangerous terrority to be handing out insane fines that are designed to bankrupt someone where nobody lost money or anything. The idea is to seize trump towers via misusing the courts its a very sketchy road to go down for the Dems
