German dance producer Stefan Kozalla (DJ Koze) spends a second week at the top with his Gladys Knight & the Pips sampling “Pick Up”, which heavily draws upon the aforementioned groups 1973 UK #31 hit “Neither One Of Us (Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye)”, revitalising it with a summer infused French House looped beat reminiscent of the massive turn-of-the-millennium hits by Stardust and Modjo. Perfect for the peak summer season it could be in for an extended run at the top!

However... he faces some tough competition next week; looking to score his first #1, 34 year-old Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) climbs 4-2 with the dramatic “This Is America”, whilst 1 place lower at #3 is the dreamy “Damson” from Stuart Howard, now known as LPLX, formerly Lapalux - that moves 6-3 on its 7th charting week and is the *Pick of the Week*

Six new tracks debut this week, and the charge is led by Soulwax who follow-up January Top 10 hit “Is It Always Binary?” with “Essential Four” straight in at 35. There are chart returns also for Anna Calvi (“Don't Beat The Girl Out Of My Boy” at 40), Jorja Smith (“Blue Lights” at 41), and Simian Mobile Disco with “Defender” at 44. Two chart debuts for new acts are at 42 and 47 - LUMP isn't technically a first hit as it is a collaboration between chart veteran Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay (of Tunng) - both of which have charted before - but their debut collaboration “Curse Of The Contemporary” finally debuts here at 42. At 47 are a new, promising up-and-coming rock band from Doncaster, The Blinders, with their latest release “L'etat C'est Moi” - a quote from the longest reigning monarch in modern European history Louis XIV, who declared it (loosely translated: I am the state) as he wielded the power of the monarchy over France; an action that ultimately led to the French Revolution in 1789.
