It's been three years since their last release (four if you ask Vanessa...) and nearly ten since their earliest releases. Which tracks have held up well for you and which ones have you completely lost interest in?
For Myself has really grown on me this year! Sad to say that WAU and Ego just dont do it for me anymore :/
Higher and pretty much all of Headlines/Wordshaker have aged very well, most of their ballads have aged well too. The uptempo's from Chasing Lights are a little dated/basic sounding now, but still fun whilst most of the final few albums already sounded nasty and cheap at the time and have only gotten worse over time.
Chasing Lights certain songs sound very dated, as do a few of the On Your Radar tracks.
Wordshaker/Headlines definitely sounds better.
On a plus though, I find Out of Control sounds way more outdated than Chasing Lights and thats from the same time.
Safe to say I overplayed What About Us. Ego for me is timeless and I always go back to Higher every once in a while, I had a listen to Chasing Lights in the car for my long drive home and It's still definitely a strong album, I forgot Vulnerable existed, still does nothing for me. Still occasionally find myself going back to listen to On Your Radar and Living For The Weekend, also rediscovered my love for One Shot and Work the past couple of weeks. According to my Last.fm, my "top 10" most played Sats track from the past year have been:
1. All Fired Up
2. Ego
3. Higher
4. Not Giving Up
4.What Are You Waiting For?
4. Disco Love
4. Work
8. Anywhere With You
8. Issues
10. If This Is Love
10. Notorious
10. One Shot
Since 1 january 2017, these are my most listened to sats songs in my top 150 on iTunes
Mollie King - Back To You - 330
Mollie King - Hair Down - 119
The Saturdays - Missing You - 92
The Saturdays - My Heart Takes Over - 80
The Saturdays - What About Us - 62
The Saturdays - Chasing Lights - 36
The Saturdays - Disco Love - 36
The Saturdays - Not Giving Up - 30
The Saturdays - All Fired Up - 28
The Saturdays - Deeper - 21
The Saturdays - Faster - 20
Your list is probably very similar to mine missingyou!
From iTunes, I have plays for Hair Down, Wildfire, Move On U, Missing You, and All Fired Up this year. I've probably listened to several others on Spotify, specifically Disco Love and Not Giving Up quite a bit.
Watching Vanessa in the jungle made me want to revisit the discography. Faves of mine that still sound good
Fall
Denial
One Shot
Get Ready Get Set (not releasing as a single was such a mistake)
White Lies
Singles wise the discography still holds up really well outwith a few that didn't feel right as singles (Forever Is Over, Gentleman)
Up (single mix), Ego, Higher, All Fired Up, What About Us and Not Giving Up are still unbelievably strong pop songs.
I had a moment to Disco Love just now, I always forget how well that's held up until I hear it again
All Fired Up, really liked it at the time and still do. Sounds like there is trance influence in that one! The best dance song by a pop/R&B artist in the early 10s for me (and there were a lot!)
Plays according to my scrobbles of lastFM. Year: 2017
01 The Saturdays 30 Days - 42 plays
02 The Saturdays Walking Through the Desert - 41 plays
03 The Saturdays Lease My Love - 40 plays
04 The Saturdays Get Ready, Get Set - 39 play
05 The Saturdays Gentleman - 29 plays
06 The Saturdays What About Us [feat. Sean Paul] -27 plays
07 The Saturdays All Fired Up - 24 plays
08 The Saturdays What Are You Waiting For? - 22 plays
09 The Saturdays 808/ The Saturdays Move on U/ The Saturdays You Don't Have the Right - 20 plays
10 The Saturdays Somebody Else's Life - 19 plays
Sadly none of these mad my top 50 most played songs. However they were 5th most played artist that year, just a few plays behind Slay Mix.
How many plays did Higher have, Totto?
Totto your list is actually amazing bar #10.
Somebody Else's Life is great, idg why yall hate it so much
Someone loves it so much they made it a Wiki page and claims that it charted at number 94. Hilarious!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somebody_Else%27s_Life
""Somebody Else's Life" was included on the set list of The Greatest Hits! Live Tour. During their Chasing the Saturdays stink, the band performed the song to Island Def Jam and Mercury Records executives, which led to them signing a US record deal."
As if that atrocity could chart in any country, ever.
Mess
Hair Down teas
Today I had Denial stuck in my head for some reason, so I put it on (Still hate that Wordshaker's not on Spotify.) and I thought it's such an underrated gem.
Might have been the acoustic version charting on the sales chart (remember it was before streaming?) idk
their songs all sound pretty basic and dates these days. WAU is still sounding quite fresh. It's about to hit 30 million views on the solo video as the 5-year release (11th Jan) approaches!
Mollie slays on Denial.
What's the definition of Mollie slaying something ?
Her performance on Strictly compared to Rochelle's performance on the Strictly Christmas Special would be an example.
ZACH!!!!!!
Frankies first week >>> Mollies whole experience
And yet that bum note lives on as one of their most iconic moments. Rochelle could never.
