Welcome one and all to the culmination of the 98th iteration of this glorious contest, the time has come to reveal your votes and announce your winner, unfortunately with a lack of gifs this time as the computer I'm using to do these results is approximately 843 years old. So expect just a copy and paste of your votes, this will be in order of receipt except this time backwards, so the late hoes aren't rewarded by having there votes be as dramatic as they usually are. Results will start at roughly 18:30

Hiipe ~ Still not really seeing past a Medhelnia/Fljótavík top 2 and Medhelnia landsliding it by 100+ points feels very possible (though I am hoping FLJ can sneak it ~). The semi results had some big surprises though so you never know
Really hoping I can finish at least 18th to get my biggest hit of the year pls x

Here to finish 41st to I can go from 2nd to 2nd last in consecutive contests *.
I think a Medhelnia landslide is likely, though it wasn't my favourite so I'd be more than happy with something else dark-horsing it.

It got several top 10 predictions - I actually agree with your prediction of it coming 2nd, for a bit I even thought it might become an unexpected winner but I'm another one who thinks Medhelnia has it.

I think if anything is going to be a 'dark horse' winner / top 3 it'll be Jupiterdonia - not that they've had bad predictions, but the plug.dj reactions to that indicated it'd be right near the top while its predictions have mainly been for low top 10. Wouldn't be surprised if they completed the top 3 actually. x

I figured that out the other week from Jerick's post in the ~mystery~ thread about Helgon meaning 'saint' in Swedish, as I suddenly remembered that the fact about 'Syndare' meaning 'sinner' was in the OP of the Syndare national thread. Very clever. Glad that you have decided to come back to the contest Randy. *.* (also glad you have actually chosen to reveal yourself haha)
(oh and now we are at an FLJ/Medhelnia top 2 already ;o will it now stay like this )

I was secretly hoping it would finish 3rd after the hype as I've never had a bronze medal position but that is looking increasingly out of the question. Delighted to see Rüfüs doing so well though, that was a really brave entry from Klumzee and it's good to see risks be rewarded

Greetings from Séyetana, ready to be the dark wolf of the contest (perhaps), depends how many people have given into an Arctic Monkeys sound. Here are my votes:
18 Fljótavík - Wealstarr - Feria Festival
I don't normally do this I swear (as in predict my favourite song to win) but I detect an opportunity for my favourite song of the contest to win twice in a row. But then given it happens about once every 5 years, Quintessa last contest was too much and I've probably doomed Wealstarr now. But it seems so much like the sound that Aeroche wins with all the time I'm rather confident it can overcome all challengers and I'd be very happy for it to do so. The spoken word is so energetic, it's just kind of aural bliss. Very lovely discovery.
15 Land of DW - N.O.H.A. - Di Nero
Land of DW's flawless 2017 year continues with this clear highlight that I was gutted to see (as my semi 10) go head-to-head against my semi 12 in the semi results. It won and though FLJ as my semi 8 has moved ahead of it in the week, this is a very fun summery tune, I hope it outperforms the low expectations people have for it as this really stood out in a good way in this contest's lineup.
13 Azure - Ghost Beach - Miracle
This is bringing back good memories of Close Enough, a track I continued playing for months and years after the BJSC it came in. Ghost Beach are a really quality act. This isn't QUITE as special but it runs Close Enough pretty close, that sort of AWOLNATION-y electronic rock is gorgeous.
12 Terra Avium - Gjallarhorn - Konungen Och Trollkvinen
I think this actually reminds me of FAUN a little so I hope it doesn't get lost like I thought it would. Very good choice for an AQ and that Scandinavian trilling just makes everything feel better.
11 Avalonia - Johannes Ringen (feat. Merethe Soltvedt) - Neverafter
Merethe Soltvedt's voice does things to me. I love this style of Avalonia (do it more) and though it's subtle, it builds very beautifully.
10 Taahino - Tigress - Alive
Taahino's back in my high points, hurrah. Against The Current sound-sisters will do that to you. Very energetic and lovely stuff.
09 Niceland - BANNERS - Someone To You
A two-fer for the rocky soundscapes after Azure further up, this is a bit like more interesting OneRepublic and I can definitely get on board with that. I think it's definitely my first significant points to Niceland so that's great to have them in my list now. Do well for them please.
08 Desbuanda - DJDS (feat. Amber Mark & Marco McKinnis)- Trees On Fire
I really wouldn't be surprised to see this challenging for Desbuanda, it seems to be getting underrated and if I hadn't had Flj seeming like such an obvious hit I'd have made this my standard shock winner in my predicta. The contrast of the two voices, the full instrumental, it's a great song and I'd love to see it up there.
07 Trifoski - Guerilla Toss - Skull Pop
pleasingly weird as always for Trifoski although I almost slept on this until I took another listen to the middle section... that voice <3

An Aeroche entry that doesn't sound like a certain hit but it's very endearing and eurodancey, I like, especially that descent into the chorus.

Never saw this coming from Harmonica, very different for them and those stabbing synths are lovely

Our bronze medal goes to none other than the hosts of this very edition! It feels like a LONG time since we've supported Quintessa in such a way two contests in a row (maybe since late 2015 with the back-to-back slayage of Avec Sans/Mirror Talk?), but yeah, they've done it again. 'Gypsy' last month was infectious but this one appealed to us, even more, in an entirely different way. It is an absolutely stunning foreign language track that makes me melt with its chilled vibes. The "oooooooh, ahhhhhhh" part of the chorus in particular is beautiful ♥♥♥ this was a very smart choice of an AQ as it may have got overlooked otherwise.
15 Buzzjack Mountain ♥ CENTVRIES - Tension
Oh look, here we have a country that have appeared in our final votes for the very first time! They were going to have to do so at some point tbh, seeing as they are our neighbours and all. Buzzjack Mountain debut in the Jadakissnian votes in style at that with a silver medal. This song was described as "like something Jadakissnia would send" due to its darker vibes. This hit the nail on the head really as I would have sent it in a heartbeat if I'd found it myself, total entry envy *.* I actually 'only' gave this 8 points in the semi but I have fallen more and more in love with it on subsequent listens to the point where it's now my second favourite song in the entire contest. Both the vocals and production of this are absolutely lush with their moody undertones, as the lyrics being sang document such frustration. "My dreams became a maze once more" is a lyric I expect to resonate with on my path to being a journalist tbh. I really like the accent of vocalist and the way the production builds throughout. 'Tension' has such a replayability factor as I've spammed it on a few occasions this week. More of this kind of thing please!
18 Kluminican Republic ♥ RUFUS - Innerbloom
Kluminican Republic get the gold from us for the first time after narrowly missing out in BJSC 96 with Burial's 'Archangel'! Vaguekissnia VERY MUCH approve of this one. Like Quintessa, this is another song from this edition that makes me melt from start to finish. I have absolutely no qualms about the long length as I believe this fills up the duration to perfection. The production and vocals are so easy on the ears and build incredibly well, this song doesn't even peak until towards the end when the production ramps up a gear. Also the colourful visuals compliment this song remarkably well. I am a little obsessed with aesthetically pleasing vinyl and that's exactly what the pretty and swirly video reminds me of. Thank gawd it was accompanied by those and not someone eating nutella for over 9 (!) minutes. I hope this can be a top 10 smash tonight with many a top set of points... but now we've given you an 18, I'm afraid you'll probably come 11th due to the Jadakissnia 18 curse as of late. Still, that curse to be broken this month please as this is SOOOO good!!

This is such a weird feeling... I'd normally kill to do this well these days and Feria Festival is doing better than I'd have expected before the contest - yet after the hype it just feels like such a flop!

Buzzjack Mountain build on the 2 points we gave their last qualifier to get three points this time (but with a much better song, just a stronger final this time), our points drought to Cadelicia ends at last as they grab four points, their first from us since BJSC 87, blame people constantly voting out the best Cadelicia entries in the mean time xx and Taahino have delivered their best rock entry to date at last - after us wanting them to send it a while ago - and pick up five points from us.

- Avalonia get points from us for only the second time (both for their Merethe Soltvedt entries) and their most to date, claiming six points with a stunning electronic tinged epic. Trifoski pick up seven points (a number we're sure they'll be pleased with x) with a bit of quirky indie with a rather amaze video ~ Jadakissnia continue once again to always get points from us when they qualify (thanks to being vetoed with their inferior original entry xx), grabbing another eight points with a vibetastic Bollywood flavoured tune, while Aelandor bring the ~funk~ with an artist that was also a former Jadakissnia potential, they just beat out Jadakissnia to claim our nine points. Then ten points go to the host nation of Quintessa with a great choice of auto-qualifier, a gorgeous bit of Korean pop that we can just melt to (a bit of a theme among some of our top few x)
11 Land of DW // N.O.H.A. - Di Nero
- One Spanish jam just missed out on our points but the other, this one from Land of DW, ends up in our top 5, taking home eleven points. Moment of silence for another Spanishy jam, South Danaelanda's, that couldn't be here with us tonight. Anyways, this track has proven to be possibly the catchiest in the whole contest, on repeat in the heads of citizens all across Persephonia, we're hoping this can be another hit for Land of DW (we were right about it qualifying against the odds after all xx)
12 Kluminican Republic // RÜFÜS - Innerbloom
- Pretty much nothing separating 2nd to 4th place for us this time, the unlucky country just missing out on a place in our top 3 is Kluminican Republic but still a healthy twelve points for this beautiful journey of a track, we fully endorse #longsongbloc as ever and hope to see this blooming inside at least the top 10 tonight. We make that two of Kluminican Republic's best ever entries - if not the best two - within the last 3 contests
13 Fljótavík // Wealstarr - Feria Festival
- Fljótavík's much hyped comeback (a hype train started by us might I add xx so do blame us if it ends up underperforming) squeaks into our medal positions, receiving thirteen points, very much the complete opposite vibe to 'Innerbloom' which made it tough for us to decide which way around they finished in our votes. Quite a bonkers and all over the place (in the best way) track, jumping from pitched PC Music esque vocals to trappy produx and even the appearance of a good old generic 90s rave sound, this one is sure to be a club classic in Persephonia for years to come. *.*
15 Cumulonimbia // Kevin Abstract - Miserable America
- I checked our voting history and was shocked to find this is the first time Cumulonimbia have had a medal position for us, in fact they've never previously come higher than 5th for us in a final (they've done that a full 5 times, as well as coming 6th a further two times) - so it's a much belated first for one of our most consistent favourite nations in the contest, who pick up fifteen points this time with the wonderful Kevin Abstract who we will forever claim as a national treasure, especially if he actually hurries up with breaking through to the mainstream xx Another great offering from him with some Childish Gambino and Kanye West vibes to it and some very thought provoking lyricism as ever ~
18 Espen // Mounika. - Long Silent
- And our full eighteen points go to Espen, who thus become the only country so far to get two 18s from us this year following ATB in BJSC 95. This was definitely a surprise qualifier but in the best possible way, it's another one of those songs that is just so slick and chill that we could just melt while listening to it
this kind of chilled lo-fi hip-hop sound is picking up popularity in the underground in Persephonia and this is one of the best examples of it we have been exposed to to date. It was originally only going to get our 10 in the semi-final but snatched our 12 just ahead of Fljótavík at the last second, and has since grown even more to make quite a comfortable decision to give it our 18 in the final. It was great to see the good people of semi-final 1 showing enough love to this to see it through, now let us just hope it doesn't flop on its arse too hard in the final - we're doing all we can for it here!!~

Sorry Dandy*, I must have doomed Feria Festival by loving it so much that I was convinced it'd do what Aeroche (or basically anyone else) does every time he enters a song that sounds like that.

Well your entry was quite trance reminsicent (as well as being inspired by 80s style electronica) to my ears! The vocal was excellent too, wasn't too sure about 'Healthy Boy' in the semis, think I gave it about 8 points then, but it really grew on me by the finals!

FINALLY! For what I think is a pretty obvious 18 is Taahino with Tigress - Alive. The rock song sounds to me personally of Paramore's 'Decode' meets Tonight Alive's 'The Edge'. What a disaster, my worst performing finalist this year 
a shame that I did even worse than my prediction of 21st I think I would've been fine if the votes were in order of receipt, but the way I peaked at 5th and fell back down was just a repeat of last month, a very frustrating feeling 27th is a unique position on the bright side I guess. At least my faves have done well though, 5th is the best that one of my 18s has done this year *.* need to come back with a bang next month with some ethnic pop tbh.

Well, quite a way from second last in the end, but hey that's about 50 points more than I expected and not even the lowest AQ so this was a pleasant surprise, I was just abusing an AQ here, so thanks guys, I never knew this could be so widely appealing as it was! At least I beat that Sophie Elise horror (sorry Jerick, I don't usually hate BJSC entries, but that's an exception :x). Shame to see Trifoski and Espen down so low though, I was hoping the former had some crossover appeal :'(
That's a pretty decent top 10 overall though poor Fljotavik are a bit too low considering all the hype! Excellent to see Cumulonimbia and Kluminican Republic do so well though.

So yes, well done to mdh on a first winner after coming 2nd twice before! I did like 'Elizabeth Taylor' a fair amount though not near enough to make my points in a strong final (it was only 28th in my rank) but I can totally see why it had the appeal it did, cannot argue with a 123 point lead! The song has ended up not quite breaking any records as far as I can tell but it's very close to quite a few records, as I shall ramble about in my national thread soon... (and it will of course be the #1 song of the year in the YTD )
I'm really pleased that 3 of my top 4 songs made the top 10 here - especially Cumulonimbia, a very very rare hip-hop top 10 hit in BJSC, and that's all male vocals and no real pop chorus I guess the lyrical themes may have helped more people here relate to it than normally would do with other similar songs. 'Innerbloom' actually making it as high as 5th as well is fantastic for a 9 and a half minute song 8th is slightly underwhelming for 'Feria Festival' after the hype but it could have been far worse. The rest of the top 10 is more of a mixed bag, only one other song I voted for and that was only one point (but yass at 'Eclipse' being top 3 anyway, well deserved), and although both songs grew on me a bit I am pretty lost as to how Aeroche and Hushkanukia have done so well this time, especially the latter being their 2nd biggest hit ever! Genuinely thought it was gonna be another 32nd place smash for them Whoops at Zanmatony being 11th twice in a row as well, I'm sure that elusive top 10 hit can't be far from you though.
Elsewhere, fab to see Buzzjack Mountain getting a first top 20, 26th place is alright enough for Land of DW though was hoping for a bit better, Espen deserved way better but honestly I'm still amazed they even qualified so they could certainly have done a lot worse than 35th. Jadakissnia, FARC, Aelandor, Avalonia, Cadelicia, Trifoski, Quintessa all deserved way better too, y'all are hoes at those ones. x Quintessa actually coming below Terra Avium is quite the shock, a good use of an AQ from them after all, would have been a real shame if the gorgeous 'Heaven' had been entered without the AQ status and DNQed!
Jupiterdonia's progression is indeed breaking the record - projected 39th to 6th for a +33 progression, previous record was only +28! Also, I noticed Harmonica getting a ton of trickle points, to the extent that despite finishing last by a mile, there were actually 8 other countries that got fewer votes

Woah that's a huge landslide! Well done Medhelnia, aww at Persephonia falling out in the last bstvh of votes, it was looking so good just a shsme a few of theirs supporters couldn't be revealed in the final batch, oh well. Wow at Botanikka, I know I gave it a 7 after hyping them so I'm glad that helped them rise to 12th! Boo at Aelandor being so low, my 2nd consecutive 18 pointer
Wd to Pupok, Hendinia & Klum tho. All fab entries (even though Hendinias actually grew on me).
Was hoping Mack wouldn't predictably end up that low tho as I thought the 'this is unlike them' factor may have actually boosted them to do quite well, never mind!

Well done to everyone. Sorry I didn't vote, it honestly didn't even cross my mind until just now. I'm gonna take another month off BJSC (obviously, since I'll be banned) and come back for 100. Will probably take a break from the contest after that, I've just kinda lost the spark I had for it a year ago.

OH WOW, I'm absolutely delighted to have come 3rd - sure enough the odds kept predicting it but I did think it'd be end up coming low top 10 (which would still have been fabulous, but a top 3 is obviously even better). Passing 300pts and being in a battle for 2nd throughout kept it fun catching up. It's been a really relaxing contest in general, never predicted above 3rd but consistently predicted to do well, plenty of 18/15 and 13s that made me 'ooh' and actually finishing where predicted.
All in all, thanks to the mods for vetoing me and allowing me to find a fantastic song out of NOWHERE in half an hour, worked out well :')
Great hosting from Leo, very concise and easy to follow, can't be faulted. And congratulations to MDH aswell, I thought you'd already won for some reason but even better that you were able to grab your debut win in such a style!

Thanks for hosting Leo, great show.
I think the reason Elizabeth Taylor was such a runaway winner is because it's so easily accessible and has such vast crossover appeal, as opposed to being an absolutely outstanding song. I gave it 18 though so it was obviously my favourite in the contest - it is brilliant and I'm happy for mdh.
Interesting results, nice to see Hushkanukia grab a top ten! and yasss at Pupok 2nd too *.* Shame Jadakissnia is so low, the track is really magical.

Wow, I didn't expect Kevin Abstract to do so well! Thanks to all those who voted for him -and congrats to mdh for the win. It was just outside my votes, the piano house sound is very popular here (see: Blonde) so it is no surprise that it won really.

Just catching up, so very pleased that Wealstarr managed to stay top 10 in the end. Even more pleased to look at that final table and see a whole lot of points from places that I wouldn't necessarily normally share my tastes with - glad that it connected with a different BJSC demographic.
Well done again to MDH - I thought the song was good and it makes a convincing and thus very much deserved winner. Look forward to seeing what you have in store for us all in BJSC 99!
