I too had thought it could number 1 but i was happy with its Number 2 debut as it was an improved position on her previous few studio album chart positions.
Light Years provided excitement, the singles were performing well as was the album, Kylie carried out lots of promotion and luckily which did help, the tabloids were really behind her for the whole era and for a long time to follow.
