Looks like the album's titled 'Delirium'.
Indeed, and apparently it is released on November 6th!
Cannot wait
Can't wait, really not long to go either Very hyped for this era.
It's kind of amusing going from halcyon to delirium.
Delirium - good word. Kudos, Elena!
So excited! I'm very hyped for this era to be honest.
Great new, looking forward to her new album, so near to Christmas should make a great stocking present.
Just heard On My Mind on radio 1! Very catchy!
http://cavititty.tumblr.com/post/129269627577
Pretty good. I like the second chorus where the extra ad libs come in more than the first. Verses are good, production should kill in HQ. 7.5/10 for now

So excited now she said to Nick Grimshaw the album is more uplifting so pumped
I'm not holding out for her to ever return back to the sound she had with Lights/Bright Lights, such a shame.
Ellie v Little Mix
Ellie will win, without a doubt. There's no competition!
Already #3 on US Pre-orders, just behind Fetty Wap
The SLAYAGE :cheeseblock:
Pre-ordered!! and looking forward to it.
Ellie is one of my favourite singers
"Something In the Way You Move" is going to be released as an instant grat tomorrow. It already received its first play on Capital FM early this morning and there's a snippet on her Facebook page, which you could listen to it https://www.facebook.com/elliegoulding/videos/10152962719626642/.
I already listened to the full track in LQ and I like it more than "On My Mind", which I also like.
With 15 seconds of that, I can tell it's tons better than 'On My Mind'.
Not sure how it would fare as a single but I do prefer it to "On My Mind" and that's after one play.
It's much better, more Ellie for a start, but still hugely pop and the chorus is infinitely better, because you know, it's not shit.
It's decent. Hardly the pop emergency DS were banging on about. OMM is better.
Yeah, 'Something In The Way You Move' is much better, I can only really echo what John said, it all just sounds more polished and feels more Ellie while remaining commercial and it's just more melodic than 'On My Mind' most importantly.
Something in the Way You Move is great! Definitely more classic Ellie than OMM. At this point, I feel it wouldn't have been a better single choice.
Let listen Burn while waiting til release date
Something In The Way You Move is way better than On My Mind, which I do like a fair bit anyway. It's a fantastic blend of Sledgehammer by 5H and classic Ellie, but I agree On My Mind was probably the safer single choice so I can see why they chose it.
Yeah, I know from first listen that I can properly get behind this <3. As has been said, it's a great big pop song which, crucially, doesn't compromise Ellie's distinctive style and quirks. 'On My Mind' is enjoyable enough but still feels a bit jarring/awkward to me. I agree that this is way more polished and actually I think it'd have worked better as the lead single.
SITWYM reminds me of another song and I can't put my finger on it and it's not that 5H song as I've never heard it.
Something the way you move is miles better than on my mind and should have been the lead single instead.
Now obsessed with SITWYM! It's hard to see why this wasn't the lead single. Such a big euphoric pop song, yet not compromising on 'classic Ellie' too much, as Noahspike said.
I've listened to 'Something In The Way You Move' in full and it seriously is immeasurably better than 'On My Mind'.
In love with SITWYM, been a long time since I've liked an instant grat this much by anyone, it may even be better than OMM. Very promising signs for the album, hope it's her best yet. This feels like her popstar moment like 1989 but on a much smaller scale.
http://cavititty.tumblr.com/post/131616734027
Rather nice little album track, 'Lost & Found'. Really love the way the production builds.
Lost & Found is so fun. It's miles better than SITWYM.
Having heard the 3 songs so far, how exactly are they going to fit on one album? It sounds like she's covering all bases, ticking boxes.
Wow, I love "Lost and found", it sounds so fresh and light hearted, it's the first "Delirium" track I love on the very first listen.
Wow, 'Lost And Found' is the best thing I've heard from her since the original Halcyon. Would not say no to an album of that, though I suspect it'll be annoyingly out of place on this.
Lost and Found is great, just found out it was co-written with Swedish singer Laleh! <3 She needs to write more music for major artists, she has an astonishing ear for a melody.
Her X Factor performance last night has only reinforced my feeling that 'On My Mind' wasn't a good choice of lead single (of course saying this without having heard the rest of the album). Not only does it translate poorly live but it seems that a lot of people aren't keen on the song itself, which doesn't surprise me, and it's not like it could be considered an album seller either. It's a bit like 'Anything Could Happen' in that it's not a particularly accessible or safe lead and is somewhat divisive, except that was much more inventive/interesting and seemed to be a grower for most (I personally adore it by the way), whereas this feels a bit throwaway and certainly underwhelming. The single definitely wouldn't indicate that 'Delirium' is up to the standards Ellie set with 'Halcyon', and I think the album's opening sales weeks won't fulfill their potential as a result. 'Army' getting some exposure will help but I'm not completely convinced on that one either.
As for 'Lost And Found', it's nice but a bit corny for me, so overall I'm not as hyped as I'd like to be for the album. :/
(Meanwhile, 'Something In The Way You Move' remains glorious <333)
The visuals for the X Factor performance were great but the vocals were awful, mainly due to the fact the song isn't that good especially live. I wish she performed something else
Shes saving Army for CIN.
Album track 'Keep On Dancin' was played on Radio 1:
https://jams.to/2015/11/ellie-goulding-keep-on-dancin-radio-rip/
Really not sure what I make of it to be honest. I find the whistley chorus very underwhelming but I really love the production, which should sound fantastic in HQ.
That is really shit.
Here it is in HQ:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p036yvhj
After a few listens, I actually properly love it after not knowing what to make of it at the start. Really getting a very mixed reaction across the board, some absolutely loving it and some hating it. At least it is something a bit interesting and different, I like the overall vibe. Think it is only second to 'Something In The Way You Move' already.
I really don't like it. For me, the worst of the era so far.
She seems to be dropping a new song on the daily, now for 'Don't Need Nobody'.
http://dopefile.me/embed/new/player.php?id=mtubvd6k51ve#
Ellie dropping an urban bop is very unexpected, don't think it will appeal to her early fans at all but it is so much more up my street. Would love this to be a single
Looking forward to Friday and hearing this album in full. Sounding like a great album!
It will shock me if Ellie (who has two #1 albums) loses to Little Mix (who don't have a #1 album) in next week's album chart
Its not out the blue. High For This (cover) followed the original composition and we all loved that.
It came a day early for me omg its fanstastic so far
I'm halfway through the album and it's really solid. I really like it so far.
I think the album is a bit too long really, but it is a solid album and there's plenty to enjoy.
less is more
Songs im taking from this:
Aftertaste
Army
Lost And Found
the rest can f*** off and burn.
It's a decent album, fairly solid. But as others have said, it's a bit too long. A few of the tracks could have been trimmed off easily. The standouts (aside from the singles) for me are Aftertaste, Holding on for Life and Don't Need Nobody.
I knew I would love this album.
Codes is an absolute tune!!!
Devotion! wow club like banger!! haha
It's too long and on 2nd listen it's drained me.
Lost & Found, On My Mind & Army are the only ones I could bear listening to again.
On first listen, Don't Panic is definitely my favourite on there!
Just about to give this a listen. Halcyon/Halcyon Days had a few good songs between the two parts but I honestly don't think I'll ever take to her music like I took to Bright Lights when it was just her, a few drums and the guitar. Such a shame but going into this with an open mind!
This is drab. I don't usually care about album length but this is way too long, even for an album as predictable and sell outy as this.
I have like no desire to listen to this Such a shame, I loved her first two albums but nothing I've heard this time around has really grabbed me at all.
I'll probably start skipping a few tracks, but I'm really enjoying it at the moment!
What a load of soulless crap.
The only song I genuinely like is aftertaste, feels like something off bright lights meets friendly fires.
Keep on dancing is okay, I like the chorus but this whole about feels so wrong. the vast majority of songs I listen to and I don't believe what she is singing.
Hope this flops
After Three listens,
Standouts to me personally are;
Afrertaste, Codes, SNTWYM, LMLYD, Don't Panic, Army, Lost & Found and Devotion
Great album.
08 Aftertaste
10 Something in the Way You Move
08 Keep On Dancin'
09 On My Mind
09 Around U
09 Codes
07 Holding On For Life
10 Love Me Like You Do
04 Don't Need Nobody
08 Don't Panic
09 We Can't Move to This
09 Army
08 Lost and Found
08 Devotion
09 Scream it Out
Plenty of those 9s could become 10s. So much quality here. Don't Need Nobody is total crap mind you, but the bonus tracks more than make up for it.
Codes must be the third single.
I'm loving a lot of the album tracks, especially Keep On Dancin', Aftertaste, and Lost and Found. Something In The Way You Move is the standout on the album for me though.
Aftertaste for next single (unless it's this album's 'My Blood')
this album is amazing, i'm so glad she's delivered with the content unlike certain artists. not a single bad track.
devotion sounds like a hybrid of something you would've heard on lights combined with a song reminiscent of loreen's heal and this obviously is a recipe for amazingness. codes and scream it out are so beautiful and then you have tracks like keep on dancin' and don't need nobody which have hints of urban edginess to them which i think really suits ellie. and then of course there's quirky ellie shining through on tracks like i do what i love and lost and found which both remind me of her debut.
stanning way too hard for her right now
{ps around u gets to me too much}
What a ridiculously good album.
Such a shame it seems to be underperforming, apparently?
It's an amazing listen. I have the Target edition, so yes, it's a bit of a drag sometimes when you have about 25 songs, but there are still so many great songs that I couldn't really care.
I think for what seems to be a "sell-out" album, she is still holding up a bit - which might be the problem of some songs. She's trying to get away from her original sound, but clearly doesn't want to alienate her fans so she keeps coming back to it, sometimes even within a same song. I don't mind, personally, but I can see why it would bother some people.
Anyway, I hope it managed to sell in the long-term. It's a great album.
Well it's not underperforming in the US - on target for 50k+ there.
From Aftertaste right through to Love Me Like You Do is a bloody insane run of pop songs. Ellie delivered big time.
Spotify has finally let me stream this after playing up the last two days. It's hard to remember which tracks I liked as the album was too extensive in one sitting. The stand out tracks for me are Don't Need Nobody, Devotion and The Greatest.
Aftertaste and Something In The Way You Move need to be singles. Not a fan of Army being a single.
There seems to be no consistency/cohesion to this album or whatsoever. It's just like a bunch of average to semi decent songs all with different stylings tacked together.
Not a bad album but it feels like she has lost herself, and it lacks personality.
I was dreading to listen to the album after the disappointment that "On my mind" was and all the comments on here, but I did listen to it and it's f***ing GLORIOUS !
I am addicted to this album, like wow, I'm blown away. Wasn't expecting that.
Also I don't understand why f***ing Army, the most boring song I have ever heard is the next single. Surely 'Something In The Way You Move' would be a much better choice?!
I agree Army is pretty bland compared to the rest of the album. Scream It Out is the better ballad imo.
I seriously love this album so much, this is pretty much all I've played the last few days with a bit of Little Mix here and there.
I seriously love this album so much, this is pretty much all I've played the last few days with a bit of Little Mix here and there.
Wow! Was not expecting to be SLAIN this much with this! *.*
My favourites in no particular order:
Lost and Found
Codes
Holding On For Life
Scream It Out
Don't Need Nobody
Winner
Don't Panic
Something In the Way You Move
And of course, Love Me Like You Do
Didn't expect to be enjoying this as much as I did. Definitely my favourite album of hers. Not sure why she's chosen Army as the next single when there's so many better songs to choose from though
Imagine if she released this when LMLYD was peaking . She would have been a big contender of the US number one for sure if she did that, given the fact they count TEA and SPS towards their album chart. I'm not worried at how little it's selling in the UK at the moment because Ellie has always been more of a long-runner with her albums so it's doing okay. The album is very long-winded though and incredibly same-y, Halcyon will always remain superior to her.
i tried to resist however this album is so good that i need to... here is my rate
~(Standard~

08.5 | Paradise
07.5 | Winner
08.5 | Heal
how anybody can say this album is a "sell out" album baffles me; there are plenty of classic ellie songs on here - i do what i love, paradise, lost and found, aftertaste & we can't move to this to name a few. i would call this album a progression, after all due to her explosion into pop superstardom over that last two years or so she would have garnered the opportunity to work with bigger producers and writers, which would naturally mould her sound into a more 'mainstream' version of itself. best album of the year - no questions asked.
It's a good album, but like the lead single "On My Mind", nothing special and just quite empty and not interesting. I'll be surprised if this has longevity like her first two albums.
22 tracks?!!! Seriously?
And she ALWAYS re-releases so I dread to think how long 'Delirium: The Never-ending Hysteria Edition' is going to end up being when it's released next year. And then of course the super-deluxe version in 2019 tagging on a handful of soundtrack appearances and 2 years worth of Calvin Harris demos to leave us with a mammoth 48 hour listen.
You make it sound like a bad thing!
Devotion, We Can't Move To This and I Do What I Love are so good!
Anything over about 14 tracks is too long, unless they are all short tracks. That's part of the reason I'm yet to indulge.
Judging these on first listen. She's in my top 3 artists of all time, so I'm going in with high hopes!
11 Aftertaste - WHAT AN OPENER.
08 Something in the Way You Move
09 Keep On Dancin'
08 On My Mind
08 Around U
10 Codes
10 Holding On For Life - This is not a sell out? This is a reinvention. It is lyrical depth with an amazing production backing and hypnotic vocals?
10 Love Me Like You Do
08 Don't Need Nobody
07 Don't Panic
09 We Can't Move to This
10 Army - As an Ellie fan since the beginning I completely understand why this is the second single. It is stunning. It's a touch of Halcyon that fits like a glove on this album.
09 Lost and Found
08 Devotion
09 Scream it Out - WHERE IS THE DUD IN THE ALBUM GUYS????!??
Sell out, why? Why do we classify up-tempo and pop productions as sell-out. If anything, it is the most competitive place to be in, if we are comparing any genre? This is not chart talk, this is music talk. Ellie pulls it off better than most of our most beloved pop artists? Her lyrics still hold amazing lyrical depth. So, I see it as a shallow review of music within itself. You are judging a song having hooks by being shallow? I don't follow that at all. We especially hold these standards on female singers. Stop putting people in boxes.
I could see if she came out the gates with a track like 'Womanizer', 'Pokerface', or most of all something like 'Single Ladies' or 'Drunk On Love'. This is pop music catered to an adult audience. Ballads do not equal maturity. There is not ONE single second of cheap thrills? Or are you counting the fact she shows her abs on the cover? I'm clutching at straws here guys.
On first listen, this is the best album I've heard since 'Blackout', and that's my favorite album of all time.
Stunning. Brilliant. Bravo Ellie.
MY ONLY COMPLAINT.
The '(Intro) Delerium', should have just been called the beginning of 'Aftertaste' it is what builds it into being one of the best records she has recorded. I can see this whole album being my favorite album of all time.
I'm overreacting, but it's been such a long time since intelligent mainstream pop music, that is upbeat has infiltrated the pop stratosphere. Especially in America.
'Something In The Way You Move' has already graduated to 10/10 status. I couldn't take in all its brilliance on first listen. Those production layers.
TBF Halycon had about 25 tracks including all its different bonus tracks.
That was with the re-release though. The original deluxe album 'only' had 16 songs, plus the Tinie version of 'Hanging On'.
What would everyone like to see released after (or in place of) Army?
codes, something in the way you move, don't need nobody, devotion, lost and found, keep on dancin' and scream it out would all be great single choices. the whole album is effectively single-worthy imo
Just finished my first full run-through of the standard version and enjoyed it a lot more than I'd thought I would. Was underwhelmed overall by the songs put out over the last few weeks ('Something In The Way You Move' very much aside) and, in light of this being a key point in Ellie's career, I guess I unfairly anticipated that the length of the album and different styles/influences present would make it feel like a dragging, incoherent mess of ideas. As it happened though, nearly every song that was new to me clicked to some degree, and everything else sounded fitting in context. I still wouldn't say it flows particularly well (though a song as recognisable as 'Love Me Like You Do' put right in the middle was never going to help matters in that regard) but the production is consistently great and the varied vocal effects/layering keep things interesting throughout. There's plenty of innovative pop music in a similar vein to her past stuff on here so I definitely agree that it's far from a sell-out, and that the 'Halcyon' purists like myself should be at least somewhat pleased!
'Aftertaste', 'Codes', 'Holding On For Life', 'Don't Need Nobody', 'We Can't Move To This' and 'Devotion' are the big new discoveries for me.
'Around U' is the obvious dud, at least at this moment in time.
'Something In The Way You Move' for next single, but I think quite a few could work well.
(I'm actually kind of relieved I like this as much as I do! )
They should all be singles 😩😩
I'm like the only one stanning for "Winner", to me it is the stand out track of the album at the moment, it is so beautiful and emotionnal
For f*** sake Ellie. You had it sooo right With Halcyon and you blew it with this shit.
I'm very surprised how incredible this album was, I was very underwhelmed with 'On My Mind' and despite it being a grower I would claim that it's her weakest lead single. I absolutely love 'Army' but unfortunately as much as I want it to be a single, I can't see troubling the top 20 which would be disappointing for the second single from the album.
'Something In The Way You Move' is easily one of the best things that Ellie has sung and I pray that it's the next single, It's such a huge popstar moment although I have no doubts she would struggle with this live. 'Holding On For Life' is also a personal favourite, it's absolutely incredible, I hope that it's released a single.
Random but "Devotion" gives me t.A.T.u vibes
Looks like Interscope is going to push "Something In the Way You Move" instead of "Army" as the second single. The former has been added to the Top 40 playlist from PlayIGA, which you could listen to it http://playiga.com/track/top-40-playlist/.
YES! 'Something In The Way You Move' is easily the best from this era.
Certainly the album needs a boost in the UK, down to #89 and weak sales, certainly not a stocking filler by the looks of it... And Army had a luke warm response.
She seems to be doing much better in the US than UK now.
But SITWYM is an upbeat LMLYD
one of my favourites. Codes and Lost and Found to follow up would be awesome
Something In The Way You Move + Holding On NEED to be a single.
Still crying at how shockingly shit this album turned.
Yes, that is fantastic news. Glad they realized Army was a terrible choice before it was too late. Follow SITWYM up with Aftertaste and I will be very pleased with this era!
'Army" is 100% still the single according to some Capital DJ?!
Lost and Found should have been the lead singer instead of On My Mind
Finally got around to purchasing the deluxe edition of this! I can't get over how long the listing is, here's to listen in full round two
I didn't realise how many loved 'Lost and Found'.
In case you would like to know, "Something In the Way You Move" is officially the second US single from Delirium according to http://www.allaccess.com/top40-mainstream/future-releases and http://fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=16691. I don't know if this means that this is going to be next UK single after "Army" or not, but I hope it happens.
Oh yeah because she was soooo indie when Lights came out, working with notoriously underground and not at all pop-influenced producer STARSMITH and launching with the critically acclaimed alt-rock radio-unfriendly masterpiece Starry Eyed. Who could have ever guessed she was into commercial pop music back then?!?
Come on now.
The difference is... there's more life in her first two albums than 'Delirium'.
Even Ellie herself used to be a bit funny about commercial pop though. Not that it matters, we can change our minds, but it's just an observation. I think her first album was meant to be aimed more at an electro-indie audience primarily.
I'd have said Lights was gunning more for the same sort of audience that Marina's first album was aiming at (for the indie kids with one eye at the pop market), this is pretty much like her Electra Heart by comparison (if the original Halcyon is her FROOT).
As much as I've enjoyed most of Ellie's recent music, I do find this quite funny. 4:02
'Army' was hammered on the radio yesterday. A good sign hopefully?
Just heard SITWYM on the radio for the first time yesterday. It's off to a great start here, already #36 on pop radio and rising 3-4 spots a day.
Randomly obsessed with WCMTT.
L&F is still the greatest thing on this album.
I made the completely impromptu decision to go to her Berlin date on Friday night.
She was incredible. Sensational setlist, great vocals, fabulous stage presence. The audience was really into it. She did everything off Delirium except Scream It Out, both Calvin tracks, and a few from Halcyon. So many highlights but Holding On For Life, On My Mind, Outside, Goodness Gracious and Anything Could Happen were really great.
Best of the night though was Burn. Every person in the arena screaming along with her. If anyone's on the fence about going I really can't recommend it enough.
She didn't do both Calvin Tracks but Outside was a highlight?!
^ She did:
- everything off Delirium (except Scream It Out)
- both Calvin tracks
- a few from Halcyon
x
Scream it out is like one of the best ones though!
Very happy with how SITWYM is picking up in the US. It's shot up on iTunes over the past few days thanks to being featured under Hot Tracks, from around #70 to #19 currently. She's also up to #17 on Pop radio and #21 on Adult Pop radio. I'm really thinking/hoping this can match the success of On My Mind here.
Is SITWYM the next single? Please say it is..
I really can't see any other logical choice tbh. Codes after that please.
Something In The Way You Do is apparently smashing in the US... probably because people think it's a dance remix of a song released a year before.
Oh come on...
"Something In the Way You Move" (Music Video)
I don't often like 'live videos' but this one is great!
I was hoping for something better than this, the song deserved a better video.
Has this era really not made that much money?
It hasn't had a hit... they had to throw 'Love Me Like You Move' on there to look like the album possessed a hit.
I guess they were expecting Mommy Goulding to be huge because she made a pop(pier) album and the success of LMLYD
I'm disappointed that SITWYM is getting the "live video" treatment but at least it is pushed as a proper single. The song is one of Ellie's best work to date so I'm really rooting for this to be huge.
It's disappointing we're not getting a proper music video, but that one doesn't look too bad actually. Hopefully SITWYM will be the next UK single as well.
There's a radio edit of Aftertaste doing the rounds on tumblr so I would imagine that is the third UK single.
This album really is fantastic, although I really don't get the love for 'Lost & Found'. It's all about 'Don't Need Nobody', 'Don't Panic' and 'Keep On Dancin'' for me right now.
I don't get why everyone is saying this album is doing badly. 'On My Mind' had a decent peak and stuck around and 'Army' has gone top twenty. No better or worse than singles from 'Lights' or 'Halcyon'.
'Something In The Way You Move' is probably the best thing Ellie has done, I can't believe how much I'm stanning for her this campaign especially considering how annoying 'On My Mind' got.
She needs to make Lost and Found a single now, this video
Thankfully me and the general public both agree 'Something In The Way You Move' is terrible as is the album
"Keep On Dancin'" has been chosen as the third UK single from "Delirium":
From http://www.thepopshock.com/ellie-goulding-keep-on-dancin/:
I really hope this is true and I wish this would be the next US single as well instead of "Army".
It's got a good beat to it but I cant' imagine radio lapping it up.
Why are they avoiding 'Something In The Way You Move' here? Ugh.
Could be a worse choice though.
I like KOD, it's a catchy little bop but not sure if it's what the public are willing to support
Because SITWYM has absolutely bombed.
Having seen three dates of the tour, I'm sort of apprehensive at how well this will do as a single. It didn't get the best reaction from the crowds. Curious to hear what the new version will sound like though.
I would have preferred Codes to Keep On Dancin', but the latter is still one of the best tracks so I'm not too disappointed. It does seem strange that they're passing on Something In The Way You Move though.
Not my ideal choice tbh Still good though
I saw Ellie live tonight (well, last night now) and she was sensational. I saw her on the last tour but I enjoyed it even more this time, it was pretty much wall-to-wall great songs. Keep On Dancin' clicked after hearing it live, although I'm still not sure it's the best choice commercially thinking. I am ALL OVER Lost and Found right now too
^ woop! The tour is perfect.
Hilary Duff's album got #1 on the iTunes US charts with minimum promo... still a flop.
Ellie just tweeted this.. Delirium re-package?
Shock!
The next question is, will she remove any tracks from the bloated original or will she need to put out a 4-disc box set
Ellie coming for that Guinness Book of Records' "longest studio album" record.
a friend of mine who's a big Ellie fan bought the Target edition of Delrrium from the US and it has... 25 tracks sure that's a record by comparison I read the new Bruno Mars album has 9 tracks
Yasss just when you think there were a lot of tracks more come in
I had wondered would she follow in the steps of her previous albums and do a re-release. Her re-releases always sell better than the original release.
I have a feeling "Still Falling For You" will end up on the re-issue
Nobody had any interest in buying this bloated mess, why would they flock to a (most likely) even more jam packed version?
Delirium had no quality control but still has some great tracks and one of the best songs of the year (Army)
Something in the Way you Move should have been a single for sure, was a bit weird to abandon this era just after Army
Yeah, I'm peeved about SITWYM.
I'm hoping it's a separate EP or something.
Surprised no one has mentioned her charity show at Royal Albert Hall next month!
I'm definitely up for a re-release. It's her best album by far.
1. Halcyon (11/10)
2. Lights (10/10)
3. Delerium (7/10)
'Halcyon' is just perfection, it's in my top 5 albums of all time. Her debut isn't as strong but it's identity is not one I'd change in the slightest, it's a more timid and unsure take to her follow up. Still amazing. Organic pop, if you will.
'Delirium' is strong but it just seemed like manufactured Ellie.'Holding On For Life' and 'Aftertaste' are two of her best. But, as a whole it just didn't feel right.
For me it's Lights > Delirium > Halcyon, although this would be a closer rival to Lights with a bit of quality control I'd say.
1. Intro (Delirium)
2. Aftertaste
3. Something In the Way You Move
4. Keep On Dancin'
5. On My Mind
6. Codes
7. Holding On For Life
8. Love Me Like You Do
9. Don't Need Nobody
10. We Can't Move To This
11. Army
12. Lost and Found
13. Devotion
That already is a much better album I think, just by taking a few of the less good songs (imo) out. Rejig the tracklist a bit and it could be even better. Seeing her live really made me appreciate most of this album Hopefully she can work on quality control next time and make an all-killer, no-filler album.
for me:
Halcyon>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Delerium >Lights
with Delerium and Lights being quite close with both having lots of filler. In this sense, Halcyon feels to me like the one with less fillers, more songs that I really like
I think I'll do a rate here.. using the deluxe version.
1. Intro (Delirium) 10/10 - amazing intro!
2. Aftertaste 8/10
3. Something In The Way You Move 9/10 - pop banger! It had so much potential..
4. Keep On Dancin' 9/10
5. On My Mind 10/10 - I loved the new sound when she released this!
6. Around U 5/10 - I don't really like it.
7. Codes 10/10
8. Holding On For Life 10/10
9. Love Me Like You Do 10/10 - obviously not meant for the album, but it's incredible!
10. Don't Need Nobody 7/10
11. Don't Panic 10/10 - just so good
12. We Can't Move To This 6/10 - it's a nice upbeat song but doesn't deserve to be on an album!
13. Army 10/10 - love the lyrics and production!!
14. Lost and Found 10/10
15. Devotion 8/10
16. Scream It Out 9/10
17. The Greatest 10/10 - again, I love the lyrics. This is my favourite off the album!
18. I Do What I Love 3/10 - no words needed
19. Paradise 7/10 - nice song but sounds too much like Crying For No Reason
20. Winner 9/10
21. Heal 8/10
22. Outside 10/10 - not meant for the album, but it's a very good dance track.
While most songs have good scores, I do still find it quite poor in comparison to Halcyon.
The second half of Delirium seems more personal.
Delirium is such a huge disappointment in comparison to the wonderful halcyon days. I totally agree with Tyler its certainly manufactured Ellie.
Not only that, but you can tell it was rushed.
Fml looks like she's releasing Holding On For Life...
Music video filmed and finished by Emil Nava...
Not happy at all - wtf is she doing releasing a song from a 2015 album. The last single was like 16 months ago
I hope this is actually happening! Agree she should be moving on but Holding On For Life is a great song
Where did you see it was being released? One of the standouts for me!
This is a strange move, but I think that Emil could have shot an ad with Ellie and the song will be played at the background? IDK.
I love Holding On For Life but seems really strange to push it so late.
Turns out her collaboration with Emil Nava is for an advertisement of Deichmann’s 2017 Spring Summer range, with 'Something in the Way You Move' used as the song choice:
Nice for this song to have a video that's more typical music video-looking than the "live in concert" treatment it received originally! It's just a bit late.
I agree, it is better, but only marginally so. Tbh I feel I've really gone off Ellie this past couple of years and it's tainted my opinion of this song which, at the time, was a such burst of joy and euphoria and would have made such a strong single. Now, I kinda find myself not feeling anything when I hear the song.
Lmao what was the point of that
Still the only thing I actually really like from the last album.
Incredible!
That’s a great achievement
Really really good result! I know people look at this era as a disappointment but even though it was a comedown from Halcyon, it did really quite well.
So after unashamedly loving everything Ellie’s put out this ‘era’ and liking a lot of her previous singles I’ve finally decided to go through her previous albums, starting with this! I’m gonna try and space it out so I don’t have to comprehend all 22 tracks at once :’) So I’ve listened to about half the album today and next week I’ll try the other half. I already knew Something In The Way You Move, On My Mind, Love Me Like You Do, Army, Outside and thanks to AFSC Lost and Found, which I absolutely love and is the reason I’m listening to this So it’s not quite so daunting in that context I’m loving Aftertaste, Around U and Keep On Dancin’ so far.
Lost and Found is literally still something I go back to over and over again I love it so much
Keep on Dancin and Aftertaste were bops as well!
I’d quite like to back to this as a whole album I may do it in two halves as well tbh
I used to have a version of the album that had 25 tracks think it was the US edition
but now checked Spotify and it has 22 tracks
So I decided to just listen to the whole thing and it's certainly an experience, in the best way So much to go back to!
Delirium gets shit because it's too long that's the only issue with it really sadly
I've had a listen to the album today and it's really good! I agree that the only issue is the length but even that's a minor point, regarding the standard edition at least. I'd save tracks 1-11 and 'Lost & Found' (yes, even 'On My Mind' - it's not one of my faves as such but it doesn't sound so bad in the context of the album). I like 'Army' too but it's kind of redundant when the far superior 'Love Me Like You Do' is on the album (I'd probably have that close the album).
'Aftertaste', 'Keep On Dancing' and 'Don't Need Nobody' are great discoveries, as was 'Lost & Found' in AF Idol. 'Something in the Way You Move' should have been a proper single. It should have replaced 'Army' which people clearly weren't that here for given it had huge exposure on an ITV advertisement.
I've always said this is a great album! It seemed to get a really hard time but its length really is the only issue. I'd trim a couple of the standard tracks, add Outside as a bonus track and leave the album as a really solid 15-track release, with no deluxe.
I don't mind the filler songs, my main issue with Delirium and imo the reason it failed to make a large impact was the single choices.
I’ve always loved this album and yes it has got a lot of tracks on it but I’m not one to complain about quantity, especially when to me, there’s only one song on the album that is subpar.
Personally I think the singles should have been: (Love Me Like You Do) > Keep On Dancin’ > Lost & Found > Something In the Way You Move > Don’t Need Nobody > Devotion > Codes > Scream It Out.
I imagined Scream It Out would have been a good song to release to complete the era as a gift to fans with a tour-montage M/V or something along those lines. I do enjoy On My Mind and Army but they’re hardly commercially comparable to the songs I’ve chosen IMO.
I gave this a full listen today and it’s so much better than I initially thought.
On My Mind is awful and Army is quite meh I wasn’t keen on those as single choices.
For me Lost and Found, Devotion and Scream It Out make the holy trinity
It is long as an album but it’s actually rather good so I’m now quite sad to hear Ellie’s comments on this era what she made earlier.
I’d say it’s probably her most generic album but that doesn’t really mean it’s bad. I’ve really slept on this album it seems though!
