Chart Commentary (bumper edition )
This week sees a huge record being broken, for the amount of changeover in the top 10! Previously, the highest amount of new songs in a single week's top 10 was six, and this has happened on a few occasions in the past five and a half years. This week, we see EIGHT new songs in the top 10 - six new entries, one re-entry and one high climber. The high climber comes from a trio of artists, all of whom have scored at least one hit in my chart before. Hands is a collaboration between Swedish DJ Mike Perry, British pop group The Vamps and American rising popstar Sabrina Carpenter. Mike Perry achieved a #5 hit last year with The Ocean, featuring Mike Perry. Sabrina's achieved two top 10s - #8 hit On Purpose last year, and #7 hit Thumbs only last week. Both artists achieve their best position to date with Hands. The Vamps however have had a string of #1s, ten in fact, having a 100% #1 hit rate for their singles. Hands takes their total to 11, meaning they've actually matched the record for most #1s, tying One Direction. Mike Perry 2016 05 The Ocean (feat. It features Nicki Minaj, who has achieved two #1s, both with Ariana Grande (Bang Bang and Side to Side), but interestingly this marks her first #2 hit. (1+ weeks) Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has the best track record of any rapper in my chart, notching up a huge seven #1 singles between 2013 and 2015. Recently she's been on less of a roll but still manages a top 10 debut with new single Switch, featuring Anitta. (1+ weeks) Monday night saw a horrific incident take place in Manchester Arena, as a suicide bomber launched an attack in the foyer after Ariana Grande's concert finished. 22 people died and many more were injured. To remember the lives lost, a campaign began to get One Last Time back into the official chart. It succeeded, re-entering at a new peak of #11. I've been playing it a lot myself, and as a result, it re-enters at a new peak of #10 in my chart, having only made #13 before. I was due to see Ariana on Thursday (25th), but of course the concert was cancelled, totally understandably. Nevertheless, I've been listening to a lot of Ari this week, and as a result, the Dangerous Woman album re-enters my album chart at #4, and My Everything is back at #12 for the first time since its initial run. Future) | 4 | 37-28-27-21-18-21-27-37-X (8 weeks) Elsewhere, we see last week's #1 from Kristian Kostov drop five places to #6, matching the second largest drop from #1. Diana Vickers' Boy In Paris also dropped 1-6 in 2012, while the record sits with The Tide's Click My Fingers, falling six places to #7 last summer behind six new tracks. Bebe Rexha's The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody) is the only other track from last week's top 10 that remains this week, as we see big falls for most tracks in this week's chart. Liam Payne is the final member of One Direction to release a solo single, and he fares the worst of all five, missing the top 10 entirely with Strip That Down as it debuts at #18. Harry and Louis both kicked off their careers with a #1 single, while Niall peaked at #5 and Zayn at #6. It's Quavo's second chart hit, after #11 hit I'm the One a few weeks back. Norwegian pop duo Marcus & Martinus scored a #12 hit with Elektrisk last year, and now return with the Silentó-assisted Like It Like It, which enters at #15 this week. Silentó has fared rather well in my chart, achieving two top 10s (the highest being #5 with The Vamps on Volcano) and a further two top 20s, despite his own single Watch Me (Whip / Nae Nae) being absolutely terrible :') SEE ALSO Chart Runs - all chart runs sorted by artist Archive - all previous charts |

Hi Joseph
The Vamps back to the top. Swish Swish is Katy's best in ages. I really love it. Crying in the Club is so much better than Bad Liar imo. Good chart as usual |

Hey Joseph,
First off, thank you for making some room in your chart this week for One Last Time, nice to see it's received a new peak too. Plenty of new releases this week then, and my highlights are Swish Swish, Crying In The Club and There For You. All great songs right now. That Bebe Rexha song has really hit me all of a sudden. I think it's hey best yet. Despacito is falling rapidly! Please be sure to check out my chart for this week — Top 40 Countdown by awardinary (W/E 01/06/2017). Awesome chart! |

Hi Joseph!
That really is a busy top 10! Enjoying the Katy Perry & Camila songs the most of those, I think Swish Swish is her best for a long time Enjoying Strip That Down a lot more than I thought I would, a decent result for that last week I only heard a brief clip of the Garrix track so still must hear it in full What a run for Shower The Horse!!! Great chart |

I'm sad to see Sign of the Times and Malibu fall
I haven't listened to I Have Questions, Swish Swish, Bad Liar and Crying in the Club even though I hear people talk about it a lot in my entourage As for 7 new entries to the top 10... My charts actually recently also had a record number of new entries, and that was on May 8th where NINE SONGS entered at #1 and #3 to 10 xD That was thanks to A Very Potter Musical and Sequel and its soundtrack. They didn't last too long though. Keep it up! |

Hi Joseph
1. Mike Perry, The Vamps & Sabrina Carpenter - Hands - 25-1- ** HIGHEST CLIMBER ** 2. Katy Perry feat. Nicki Minaj - Swish Swish - 2- ** HIGHEST NEW ENTRY ** Now that she's switched to this, hopefully Bon Appetit can be swept under the carpet and forgotten about! 4. Camila Cabello - Crying in the Club - 4- Pretty decent even if it is Sia by numbers. 5. Selena Gomez - Bad Liar - 5- Not really feeling this much at the moment, I've heard it several times and I still couldn't tell you how it goes which isn't a great sign. 7. Bebe Rexha feat. Lil Wayne - The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody) - 2-7- 10. Ariana Grande - One Last Time - 34-24-14-13-18-32-38-X-19-34-40-X-10- 12. Harry Styles - Sign of the Times - 1-1-1-4-3-3-5-12- 13. The Vamps & Martin Jensen - Middle of the Night - 12-1-2-4-13- 14. Jonas Blue feat. William Singe - Mama - 5-6-14- 18. Liam Payne feat. Quavo - Strip That Down - 18- Not my favourite solo 1D debut single but I am coming round to it. His performance on Graham Norton was actually brilliant, I think that's made me like the song more. I didn't actually know he could dance that well 20. Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan - There For You - 20- I was hoping for better from this collab tbh, but at least it's keeping Troye's name out there ahead of his next era. 22. Shawn Mendes - There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back - 7-2-4-8-11-22- 23. Charlie Puth - Attention - 15-3-5-10-13-23- 24. Cheat Codes feat. Demi Lovato - No Promises - 1-2-2-4-7-10-13-17-24- 25. Miley Cyrus - Malibu - 14-25- Au contraire, this is actually really growing on me this week! 30. Lady Gaga - The Cure - 3-5-8-18-23-30- 34. Niall Horan - Slow Hands - 27-38-34- Hoping this can repeak! 35. Katy Perry feat. Migos - Bon Appétit - 27-7-17-22-35- 36. Kygo & Ellie Goulding - First Time - 20-6-14-24-36- 37. Anne-Marie - Ciao Adios - 5-2-5-6-5-7-4-8-9-11-14-16-15-21-26-37- ** LONGEST RUNNER ** 38. DJ Khaled feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne - I'm the One - 11-16-29-38- 39. Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber - Despacito - 30-13-20-30-39- Great chart as per! |
