Oh, I love, love the Bee Gees - fab group. I really like TT's version but I'm obviously in the minority smile.gif

The slant they put on EC in An Audience With is exactly what I've been saying for sometime Jay. The acoustic version was so, so lovely.

They keep to the same arrangements for each tour with very minor changes. I wish they would put more effort into the musical arrangements in the same way they do with the production elements. For example, the changes they made to CIBM on the BW tour were simply lovely and a great improvement on the quicker version which they seem to prefer. Similarly I like the version of AMLS from one of their old tours, sorry I can't remember which one, but Howard and Gary were sitting at keyboards and the other three were sitting behind them.

I reckon even stalwarts such as BFG and Pray could be revamped in some way. I know I'm going off topic here but if they are going to tour as a 3 next year before the 25 anniversary tour with Rob ( assuming he jumps on board) I'd like them to go outside of the box and sing a lot of the B sides and songs which haven't been aired such as WAFD, Butterfly, Rocketship etc. Too many songs haven't been heard live which is such a shame.

Where's a thumbs up emoticon when you need one?!!!

I find it really weird that HDIYL garnered more votes than other singles. There may have been better choices for singles at the time, but it's still a lovely song. I guess I'm in a minority too.

Just to clarify: it's not me who voted EC. I voted for Babe and I already explained why.
I'm in agreement with all of you that we need revamped versions of EC and most singles. I guess that's why I love Lara Fabian so much - each tour, she offers fans new arrangements of her hits - some work, some not so much, but it shows an willingness to shake things up a bit, instead of always doing the same thing.

I liked it when Gary sang that different version of RTW on Concert for care or on BBC Radio 2 - the one with the orchestra. I loved it when they did a tango version of It Only Takes A Minute or the ballad version of CIBM. Unfortunately, these re-arrangements are so scarce you tend to forget they ever happened sad.gif

Thanks Milly.

You know one of the highlights of the Hyde Park show was Cry, partly because it was a new song I'd never heard live before. In all honesty I could almost guess the set list and the position of each song in the show - that's how little change there is. I adore TT and my criticisms certainly don't take away from how fabulous they are live, but......... if someone goes to see them on a regular basis there really is a familiarity which after a while does get a little galling.

It would have been wonderful to hear CMH and WYBTFM at that show. Both songs would have fitted in so well, and as they were on stage for less than 2 hours adding both of them wouldn't have been difficult. Extra production wasn't needed as both could have been placed towards the end of the show as a ballad section on the second stage.

For the 25th anniversary tour the set list will almost pick itself. I guess for any lll show they'll showcase some songs off the new album which means yet again fantastic songs from previous albums will be ignored.

In terms of the poll I'm not surprised at the songs chosen, although I didn't expect so many votes for HDIYL.

Yeah, hopefully we'll hear that arrangement in some capacity again, Dylan!

Kath, it's getting scary, stop it! tongue.gif

Despite me disliking Babe the most, I still find myself lately humming it a lot - if there's something I like about that song, those are the harmonies and BVs.
Yet, during concerts, fans seem to go mad on that song, for some reason. I wonder if it's the song or the fact that it's Mark singing it. Even during one of their 90s tour (I don't remember which one, definitely not the '95 one), Babe followed AMLS and it got way a bigger reaction from the crowd. Even to this day, I'm not certain whether it's because Mark was cute back then or they genuinely loved the song more.

You know the truly scary part? Most people in Romania know about Babe and actually like it, while many may not have even heard of Patience.

However, no matter how dreadful Babe and many of their 90s songs are, they're still hilarious, as they make me wonder "What on earth was going on through Gary's head when he was writing them?!" laugh.gif I don't know how people can accuse him of not being funny after having heard some of those songs laugh.gif

I've recently bought some of their old albums. I've been shocked by how few songs are sung by the others. Gary really did dominate back then. I agree Milly he's written some................................. absolute horrors smile.gif

Really, really bad. It's strange to hear songs on an album such as BFG, NF and HBTT - and then really weak songs with few redeeming features.

It is indeed scary that we agree on so much! I'm sure I read somewhere though that Gary only wrote Babe (for Mark specifically) because Nigel asked him to (as Nigel - being on the ball as he was - knew that Mark was so popular despite his singing limitations). Its for this reason that 'Babe' is fairly boring - as it was built for Mark's vocals. And .... before any Mark fans have a go at me ... Mark's vocals at the time WERE very limited. I must say though - of recent output - the songs that Mark has lead vocals on - have been my favourite TT songs - especially 'Up All Night' and 'Hold up a Light'.

Though, to be fair to him, musically, they weren't too bad, considering he was experimenting and following orders/directions quite a lot at the time; lyrically, though, some of them are monuments of ridiculousness, meant to provide endless amusement for us nowadays laugh.gif I guess that period was needed, in order for him to learn and grow and nobody can blame him for writing the way he did - he was just a young boy, coming from a perfectly normal family, with no major issues - what was he gonna write about at that age and with his lack of life experience?! Not to mention that Nigel and the label were asking him to write most of those "songs". It's surprising he had it in him to write such gems as AMLS, BFG, EC, Pray, NF, NE, HBTT and to convince the label to allow them on albums, since they were targeting a more mature audience.
Had Gary never been in TT, I believe he'd have gone down the MOR road much earlier in his career - and I wouldn't have minded it, but I know not all fans feel the same way.

'Sure'. Don't think I've heard it before and... I don't plan to. The rest of them are all OK to great though. Saying that I'm not a big fan of 'Patience' but it isn't warranted for this question lol.

'How Deep' is alright too I guess but can take or leave!
