This doesn't seem to have its own topic?
Without doubt the most mesmerising procedural drama on TV. Even if Julianna Margulies can't move her face.
I won't bother outlining the premise or anything because I know it already has followers on here. I'm currently racing through the latter half of season 1 so that I can catch up to the end of season 2 before the finale airs. I just watched s01e18, the one focused around the jury and it was quite honestly astonishing. Also kind of silly but in the best possible way.
Kalinda owns.
Oh Kalinda DOES <3
OMG just watched the s01e18 episode and it really was amazing. The ending, i knew it.
The thing with that ending is that as soon as they said they'd reached a decision it was obvious what it was (since they'd previously been unable to move past the fact that was reasonable doubt / 'reasonable ignorance') but it was still HEARTWRENCHING to see it written on paper like that after the poor girl had already made her plea bargain. I fucking love this show. Can't wait to get to season 2.
Well yeah it was obvious they all voted 'not guilty', this twist was shocking. They could've not plea bargained and ended the episode happily but they did not do that! It clearly stands out from all those crime/procedural drama series where every criminal gets to jail (or dies) in the end.
Even to compare The Good Wife to series like Bones, Mentalist and others - sometimes you aren't even sure that the right person got the punishment when the episode ends. (I mean the alleged wife strangler creepy guy episode... the truth is still so unclear, the last scene with the anime picture is BRILLIANT. They would never do something like that in Bones or Fairly Legal).
And it needs a renewal BADLY. My favourite TV show at the moment (I thought Ryan was exaggerating saying it was that incredible but he in fact was NOT!).
Love this show, I'm on American pace with this one.
I'm just worried it won't get renewed :/
Very intrigued to see what that is! However i shall not peek and see what it is before i get down there myself with all the season 2 episodes watched (unlike my mum who did watch the ending of the The OC's 3rd season after i told her that something huge will happen there even though she was midseason 1! ).
Love this show, been watching since series 1.
To be honest I never gave this a chance because it looked deathly dull from the trailers, however the way you guys are talking, it sounds like I'm missing out.
I used to think like that as well Daniel!
OH MY LORD. I just finished watching the season 1 finale and I'm honest to god hyperventilating. THEY CANNOT LEAVE US HANGING LIKE THAT. I'm going to have to race straight onto season 2. Also I think I actually squealed out loud when Kalinda and the FBI totty did the lezza love in the storage unit. Best frigging programme on US TV.
Started watching this on the basis of this thread. It is indeed amazing. I forever put my trust in you Jack.
Tvbythenumbers.com just posted an article reckoning that this is going to get a two season pick up.
OMFG. I R DEAD.
I HOWLED.
Where are you up to Pavlov dear? I'm starting on Season 2 tonight. Excitement...
Just watched 201. Not quite up to the standard of the last half of season 1 but it had its moments. I'm not sure about this new partner yet. I think having Carey pop up to argue for the prosecution on all of Alicia's cases could become clichéd fast so I hope they find other ways of using him. Eli Gold and Jackie Florrick are my latest favourite supporting characters and their relationship is dynamite. Eli always looks like a sheepish little child when he has to go to her for advice and she inevitably shows him how it's done. Love it!
KALINDA. PARKING LOT. BASEBALL BAT. SHADES. LIPSTICK ON REAR-VIEW MIRROR. REDEFINING FABULOUS.
This show is ALL ABOUT the ultra fabulous Christine Baranski. That isn't the only reason I watch of course, it is brilliantly written, brilliantly acted and MUST WATCH TV.
I have to say S2 is really working for me much more so than S1, more so the further into it we get though. The character development is great and obviously something they can focus on a little more now.
Oh but I think my highlight of the entire show so far is the never ending stream of ridiculous judges they seem to have developed. The best being the one who insists on having 'in my opinion' added onto every sentence (from episode S2E8 'On Tap)
I just watched the episode with Miranda Cosgrove as the tween DUI suspect. I thought she did well! And I thought the writing was quite good and didn't foray into parody territory like it could've. Grace in particular grew on me with that mom/Alicia business.
I've never warmed to Grace, she's gotten worse as the series has progressed. The worst offender is obviously Becca though.
I think Becca is alright, she's given us some great scenes with Eli, although that is mainly down to him admittedly, but she is the vehicle for it.
I love Eli. I'm hoping America Ferrera returns so they can bump uglies.
Episode 19 and 20 I believe. She apparently saves the day Ugly Betty style which I'm not too keen on
Guys you're TORMENTING me with this spoilerific chat. I can't handle it! I'm only just managing to resist the urge to look...
Oh now you've got me intrigued!
S02E09 with the client on death row - does TV actually get any better than this? Julianna Margulies put in her finest performance to date for me at the end...
I've just watched Episode 16, another cracker. I loved the high drama of the partners meeting, naturally Christine was doing an amazing job of being fabulous, but I am so glad to be rid of Derrick and in brilliant style too, what a c**t. Oh and Derek Lee made me LOL, he's such a smug bast*rd but he pulls it off brilliantly.
Oh YAY. I can't see where things are going to go right now regarding anything, least of all the election (I'm hoping Peter doesn't win to be honest and I don't think he will do either). It's all very exciting.
That didn't need to be spoilered particularly but I don't want to spoil a single moment for anyone.
The second Michael J. Fox episode was absolutely fantastic, surely one of the best 'regular' episode yet (ie. excluding 'event' episodes like the jury one and the ones focused on a race against the clock like the death row and rape victim eps). I'm really enjoying Tammy (Will's friend with benefits). She's so much fun. I didn't see the twist with Derrick Bond coming either (keylogging Alicia's computer to get ammo against Diane). Can't wait for them to smack him down. The episode didn't miss Cary either; much as I love him I think he's not essential to every episode whilst he's not working for the firm. And no Blake! Hurrah!
I'm hoping for a proper Blake V Kalinda SHOWDOWN at some point. Although with Derrick gone and Blake working for him, I assume he's gone now too and we won't be getting one. Seems like a bit of a wasted avenue to me, unless he is still there or it was just sowing seeds for the Kalinda story
BACK TONIGHT. HANDS IN THE AIR.
OH MY GOD.
GIVE HER AN EMMY ALREADY.
Things are about to get very different, no way are they going to cancel it after this episode.
I REALLY want to see it now, but I am determined to keep watching at UK pace.
OH MY CHRIST it was actually brilliant. Quite possibly Julianna's best PERF to date. She was seething! I really can't wait to see how she deals with Kalinda now...
OMG i caught up and watching the newest episode tonight. EXCITEMENT.
I've just seen the episode with the murderer songwrite. Featuring some more FABULOUS acting from La Baranski, it's still feeling like its all building to something properly brilliant which is great.
Another incredible episode this week. Jackie is such a piece of work. “I know what happened at your house” sounds like season cliffhanger bait to me. Julianna and Archie really do deserve Emmy recognition this year, their performances over the past few episodes have been nothing short of outstanding. THEY BREAK MY HEART.
SPOILER ALERT: Season finale promo!
Also, Sarah Silverman was brilliant! Didn't expect that. Did anyone notice the opening music was different this week? Definitely a lot more sombre (probably because of the Kalinda breakdown in the elevator).
Sarah Silverman was absolutely fantastic. I love that we got that bloody hideous cutesy lawyer back too.
The final death glare between Kalinda and Alicia was fantastic. I can't foresee how they could possibly ever be friends again now... also Jackie was wonderful. She's actually a real bitch artfully hidden behind the artificial smile of a social climbing old busybody. Talk about a layered character.
The ad looks good for next work but I don't know if they're marketing it right. To a new viewer that would look like a programme about a $l*t with two men on the go.
The end of this season has had some of the best scenes ever across the breadth of the two seasons. Stunning. Is there really talk of this not being renewed? I was under the impression its viewing figures remained strong?!
Most people seem to think it will be since the critics love it and the figures are bordering on decent but it's not a given and I CAN'T TAKE THE NOT KNOWING.
Josh Charles has revealed that he is looking forward to the season finale of The Good Wife.
Speaking to E! Online, Charles refused to give away any details about the instalment.
However, he said: "I can tell you this - I am really excited about the episode. It is a great case.
"All I can say is that I think [the finale] is a strong one and I think it will really have people talking and it really leads us nicely to begin the third season."
Charles, who plays Will, added: "The possibilities are endless on where things can go and it's ripe with drama, conflict and intrigue. I think it will be fun to see... Well, I can't really say what happens."
The season finale of The Good Wife, which will feature a guest appearance from Seth Gilliam, will air tonight at 10/9c on CBS. In the UK, the show continues on Thursdays at 9pm on More4.
Pretty much confirms it'll be back for a third season I'd say...
I would be amazed if they didn't bring it back for another season. Amazed and devastated.
I'm not sure whether or not this means it has been renewed or not, but Roxann Dawson (who directed a couple of episodes) is signed on to do another 2 in July.
HOLY $h!t. THE FINALE. IT HAS TO BE RENEWED NOW.
The final scene between Alicia and Will was incredible. My heart was genuinely racing (not something I can say for most shows) throughout the elevator ride, the entire thing was shot wonderfully too. The writers are geniuses, typically when a couple finally get together the entire relationship becomes rapidly boring but they're obviously going to go in the secret affair direction (seeing how everyone presumes Peter and Alicia are happily married).
The twist with Peter was interesting and they've thought of a clever way to keep Eli around. The last few episodes have been sublime, reviews are glowing and it currently has 89% on Metacritic - surely Emmy worthy?
I am half an hour away from watching. I'm actually weeing my pants with excitement. It's surely renewed though right? Surely? And the good news if that if it is we'll probably get a fourth season too. HUZZAH. And I'd like to think that the show is such a labour of love (it certainly seems to be from watching behind the scenes/interview type stuff on youtube) that the quality will remain sky high.
Apparently the cast are at Upfronts today for CBS (according to Josh Charles).
RENEWED! Moving to Sundays against Desperate Housewives.
YAYAYAYAYAYAY
Amazing news. I think it'll do better in that slot than it is doing currently. DH is ailing anyway (I expect it'll be average 2.6s in the 18-49 next year) and the two shows don't really share a similar audience (unlike say, Good Wife and Body of Proof).
That final scene. The lift. The suite. Oh my. It was everything. My jaw was on the ground. This is the best thing on television. I can't wait until September. It's TOO MUCH.
The episode with the MENTAL Venezuelan President is AMAZING. Do things get better from then on too, I'm not sure I'll survive if they do.
I'm behind on 3 episodes. Instead of this i'm watching ANTM cycle 7 (Monique is such a f***ing BITCH, i want to stab her, like seriously).
ME=FAIL GOOD WIFE FAN.
OH.
MY.
GOD.
That is literally the only reactionn appropriate to the sheer TOUR DE FORCE of acting in the final 3 episodes. Julianna and Archie bringing their A+++ games AND THEN SOME. The scene with Alicia walking down the corridor crying after being told Kalinda slept with peter is the single greatest moment in the show (so far of course).
Even La Baranski was BRINGING IT, although obviously not to the same extent as the other 2 what with her not having a massive role in any of those goings on.
I has bought Season1. Jark, it had better be fucking outstanding.
IT IS.
I'd say objectively though it doesn't HEAT UP until about half way through and then the last seven or so episodes in particular are in a totally different league. But even the quieter/scene-setting episodes are QUALITY TELEVISION. The acting/storytelling cannot be faulted. And then season 2 ups the ante in every respect - the story arcs, the guest cast, the regular cast - and it becomes the best thing on network television.
I just remember back to how reluctant Jark was to watch this and WHO forced HIM to watch it!
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Of course you don't
What would we do without Ryan the mighty triangles?! <3 He created an EPIDEMY.
I THINK you'll find I would've started a thread ANYWAY.
This show is INCREDIBLE. I am so very glad I got into this.
Just finished season 1. Oh Will, just get lost.
Was addicted at the start, but there were about four episodes near the end of the season where I found myself getting bored. Don't know if it was the cases, not being keen on them, or maybe I just wasn't undetstanding it enough. Not liking the FBI stuff, or the man that Kalinda keeps talking to.
Kalinda's guy isn't in season two. Shame though, I liked him. I'm surprised you've lost interest at the end! Those last 7 or 8 episodes from the jury one onwards were some of the best. It really picked up pace after Peter left prison.

The latter half of S1 is when it steps up to the next level, at least for me.
I thought it kept building as it went through the season and I just became more and more addicted.
A couple of very vague 'spoilers' regarding season 3:
-The first episode takes place the day after the season 2 finale
-They're going to continue developing the Carey-Kalinda relationship
-It'll be more filmic in style than the first two seasons with more focus on cinematography
-Eli will be interacting more with Will, Kalinda etc.
OH MY. SLUTTY ALICIA?
I love how you can tell that her face DOES NOT MOVE even in that photo.
OMG YES, it's the return of DEADFACE
AMAZING.
Another poster, not as slutty but still a bit..
The other one wasn't 'slutty'. There's a difference between sensual/sexy and slutty.
They were filming in Grand Central, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to go stalk
NEW HAIR ALERT.
Is it still a wig? Regardless, it looks more real than the previous wig did.
OMG, THE CHUCKLE.
The greatest gif ever *.*
Oh I like you findthej
I don't know what I am anticipating more THIS or DOWNTON ABBEY. Perhaps it's just a case of ALL ROUND ANTICIPATION that cannot even be measured.
Finished season 2. The last three episodes were probably my favourite three of the season. The acting, the cases, the Peter/Alicia/Will plot, KALINDA.
Also thinking that Nancy is my favourite opposing counsel person, so hope we see more of her. I hear that Michael J. Fox should be returning for three or four episodes - of course his acting is great, but I don't like his character as much.
Just because every new page should (and indeed will) have this:
So glad Julianna Margulies got the Emmy though would have liked the amazing Archie Panjabi or Christine Baranski to get supporting actress too but after Julianna's performances this year the Emmy was well deserved.
So excited for the season 3 premiere, season 2 ended so perfectly, it really is such a high quality show, took me a while to get into it about 7 or 8 episodes but when I did I got gripped. So many great supporting chracters too like Jackie and Eli. I watched it at UK pace this year on More 4 (Has Channel 4 even shown the second series yet?) but I'm not going to be able to resist watching at US pace this year.
ALL ABOUT THIS.
It was a slow episode but that scene was arrestingly fabulous.
That was far from my highlight of the episode, which by the way, I thought was brilliant. I loved the scene with the judge talking about the gun in the game and saying ''cool''. They really do make the judges on this wonderfully ridiculous.
It's clearly building a foundation for some BIG stuff again and I don't think it was that slow, complex perhaps and a little more wordy than usual but I welcome that because that's something I love.
The silly judges are fun sometimes but they overdo it a bit. I tend to watch for the drama in Alicia's personal life over the actual cases anyway.
I finished season 2 last night so I am good to go on season 3, when I transfer last years TV to DVD's.
It was a bit slow, but for me it got more interesting 10 minutes in, when the case changed.
I really enjoyed it overall, really liking Alicia's new hair but I hope Alicia & Kalinda don't remain against each other for too much longer, seeing their friendship is much better. Not too sure on Grace's tutor, I thought the Bollywood bit was quite odd.
Stunning second episode, not so much for the personal stuff (although I did love the scene in Will's office where they contemplated a quickie in the bathroom) but for the case which was genuinely quite thrilling.
I love how Americans portray Brits. Never gets old.
We are nervous sweaty messes who love our anagrams and crumpets!
I'm worried about the direction they're going...
It seems to be drifting.
I think building is a better word, I agree this episode wasn't quite as good, but it still feels like this is all heading somewhere promising. I really like who they're building Eli's relationships with other people, I assume the Will thing isn't over, nor is the cheese fiasco he's managing.
I preferred Ep.3 to Ep.2, liked the case better and I've come to love Alicia's brother. Not so sure on Will's ex.
Is the cheese thing set to continue? I don't remember finding out for certain what the source was.
They didn't conclude the story, so I assumed it was going to carry over. The source was Will though, wasn't it? When he told the news reporter 'back channel' stuff so they wouldn't run with the story about the medical device. And that's why QoL Baranski's 'Will wouldn't leak' was so important.
Just acquired the pilot. At a speed of 3.5 meg. I about squeed.
Yesss.
He looks so different there than he did in Damages.
Damn. Good promo but I've got to wait two weeks due to an holiday.
Quite a good episode this week, was really happy with the conclusion of the case as from the promo I didn't know whether they were going to do a jury episode. Still not at all keen on Lisa Edelstein's character, don't keep her around too long please.
Twas a fab episode all round I thought. Lots of brilliant character de-vel-op-ment, especially Will & Alicia, it's interesting to see her dragging her heels now considering how it's been portrayed so far. It might just be me fearing the worst, but does it feel like they're building up for Diane to take a fall regarding the legal aid thing, Will didn't seem very into it and it seems odd they would make such a moment of it for it not to have further screen time.
Half way through the 4th episode and the conversation between Celeste, Will and Peter is ALL KINDS OF *.*
They must bring on Celeste full time, I'm IN LOVE.
Not quite convinced by this weeks episode, the case seemed like a rather poor attempt to bring back a rather poor character in the form of wifekillerman. The revelation at the end was quite nice and Eli/Kalinda's relationship is starting to come along very nicely.
I never really liked him all that much, there were moments in his first appearance when I thought ''oh he's about to do/say something great'' and then he didn't.
I really like Colin, he makes me laugh a couple of times. I didn't mind the case but it seemed to get lost amongst everything Colin.
Didn't know what to feel at the end, there was sympathy for Martha, part of me wanted David Lee to get what's coming to him and then the reveal when that kind of went.
Johnkm needs the gift of knowing a HIT CHARACTER. Excellent character, excellently portrayed.
LOVED the episode from last night. Good character development with Carey. Tbh the subtle but DEFINITE character development by all characters is something I love about this programme. How characters return and move position.
More hot lesbian investigator and Peter's mother though PLEASE *.*
I think you'll find I was the one who called DIANE LOCKHART out as the greatest character in the show from DAY ONE, so clearly I am not in need of said 'gift'.
I'm not JARK.
?
I was simply implying that when it comes to having LUDICROUS opinions on characters, you take the biscuit.
Well not really but okay. I'm not the one who reviews an excellent episode of drama with one (tired) line about how fabulous Diane Lockhart is.
Oh indeed. The GRACE OPINION was very much a PLUTONIUM BALLOON moment.
Well kindly cease going out of your way to BESMIRCH my name when I'm not even a part of the conversation and you're going out of your way to chat shit. I'd be surprised if you could find even five good examples of characters I love across television who are considered a ludicrous choice of favourite. FIVE.
MEET THE CHALLENGE or SHUT IT and conjure up an APOLOGY.
I don't like your tone, I'm sorry... but I'm out.
Thought as much what a shame you don't share the quick wit of noted QOL Diane Lockhart!
Just carrying it on since John hasn't posted it so far on this page. Appears to fit right in here too.
Anyway moving on from Jark's attack of cuntitus, this weeks episode was really good. I LOVED the ending, Cary has never been one of my favourites but he's really starting to grow on me, his reaction was great and he's been on form this season so far. LOVED Eli's ex wife too and Caitlin was nicely utilised, I hope we get to see plenty more of her in the coming weeks.
There was of course one ISSUE with it, which I shant mention for REASONS NOTED ABOVE (ie. Jark is a c**t).
I HATE PETER FLORRICK. That's the main message this episode conveyed to me, he's just so massively unlikeable. I guess that's the point, but I'd rather he just fell under a bus and Cary took over, he does the same thing with Lockhart/Gardner, but he does it with charm/wit.
As for the bulk of the episode, it was nice to have the story kick up a gear with the case against Will and Diane finding out about Will/Alicia and the not so subtle hinting to Will that she knows. Miss Tascioni was marvellous too, she played the ditzy woman who's actually a genius thing perfectly.
Season 3 is really starting to get good now. Episode 8 was probably the best of the season thus far. The Carey/Kalinda storyline taking a new direction. One wonders/assumes she is doing it purely to help Will but can we be sure? Diane/Will/Alicia/Eli/Peter interactions regarding Alicia/Will's affair are only going to get deeper and more interesting too.
Huzzah. Cannot wait for episode 9!
Indeed, everything is hotting up now. There's so many different possibilities about how every could pan out too, it's very exciting.
I love how thought provoking this show can be sometimes, the scenes with Alicia on about the death penalty and how they could be her daughters got me thinking. I can't have been paying enough attention though as the case itself left me a bit confused. Kalinda & Carey go well together but I think I'd prefer her to get it on with one of her female friends instead.
Next weeks episode does look very good regarding the Will/Alicia storyline.
Jackie trying to use the MacBook.
FUCK ME, what a good episode. Easily the best of the series thus far. Diane was on absolute FIRE throughout. Her scenes with Will and Eli made the episode. Very interesting and engaging case too. I love how we have established characters returning too such as the frosty judge and the quasi evil Wendy Scott-Carr. The Carey/Kalinda plot/love triangle continues to build the psychological mind games.
*.* for this programme and a special bonus *.* for Diane Lockhart
Michael J Fox!
Looking at some of the theories in the comments for that video it sounds like it could potentially play a big role in some of the current stories. Should also be another great performance from Julianna. Can't wait.
I also agree with E09 being the best of the season so far.
Oh my GOD, what an episode. So many brilliant scenes. Naturally I was loving every second of Diane being a major QoL, it made up for the lack of her in recent weeks and then some.
LOVED the return of Wendy too, she plays a bitch so well. I forgot quite how well she does it actually, but her talking to Diane was wonderful. Jackie is a right old bitch too, I hope we get some more fabulous scenes between her and Alicia in the coming weeks. I suspect we will if the story pans out as expected.
So yeah, count me in the list of people hailing this as the best epiosde this season so far.
Looks like the next episode will be Julianna's Emmy episode.
Great episode this week, too bad Grace wasn't kidnapped and killed. Her character does nothing for me.
Well the promo was a bit misleading! I think that made it all a bit anti-climatic for me. The case was alright, the best part was the return of both Michael J Fox & Martha. Next week looks really good unless the promo is being slightly misleading again.
The ending was very good though, I think Alicia definitely did the right thing.
I know I've said it about every single episode so far, but I do mean in it in each and every case, but that was great.
Even though the stuff with Grace didn't turn out as expected, it was still really tense and brought some great acting from all involved (except Grace, natch). Great to see M J Fox back too, he and Alicia have such great chemistry, even if he is a total c**t.
Another stunning episode. This is shaping up to be the best series so far. Surely it has to PEAK soon?!
WOW at so much of that. Loving the Diane/Alicia relationship, hopefully it means more time for QoL Baranski. Wendy Scott Carr is quite possibly one of the BIGGEST BITCHES I have ever seen on TV. Her chat Will and in particular the judge were just brilliant, that's the sort of thing this show does so well.
Agreed, best episode thus far. This season is going from strength to strength after a slow start. I'm sure Diane has her own motivations for keeping Alicia close, but I definitely like seeing them together.
My favourite episode of the series thus far. Really does get better, week-by-week. My favourite thing on television at the moment. The characterisation is phenomenal. It holds a lot of the qualities I adore in 'Mad Men' coming to think about it...
The tension in that episode was glorious, it was left right and centre! Lovely to see Elsbeth back too, she's such a fun character, but SO aware, it's ridiculous. I want her to TAKE DOWN that BITCH Wendy. It was nice to see a sort of/sort of not romance for Diane too, my God she looked fabulous in that 'fur' trimmed coat! David Lee is wonderful too, what an absolutely arrogant DICK of a man, yet somehow he always has me rooting for him.
A pretty great episode all round but the scene with Elsbeth & Wendy was my favourite, Wendy is such a great bitch and one I really like for what she is.
David Lee on the other hand, I don't seem to like him in any way.
The previous two seasons have been extremely good, but this season has taken it to a whole new level and it just keeps building.
Easily the one of the best and by far the most underrated show around.
OH J MARG, WHY?
Now that's an awful dress!
HORRIBLE picture all in all. She looks like she's had part of her face SCULPTED off.
APPARENTLY 'it's all about the back', I haven't seen an a picture of it though. Even then, there's no getting away from the return of THE DEADFACE.
Also, bitch needs to realise having her hair back like that is not flattering.
Not exactly great here either.
She looks amazing on moving camera, but she is horrifically unphotogenic.
Another brilliant episode this week. Next week looks even better.
Oh my GOD: both at that picture and the amazing promo for next week!
Two weeks alas! So pumped. To think come March we'll have this heading towards its bound to be amazing climax AND 'Mad Men' on. Rejoice.
I don't mind the Emmy dress but her FACE. Her hair in the GG photo is dreadful, can she not just keep the way it is in the show.
The next episode looks really great, TWO WEEKS? They put it up against the GG and then take a break? Maybe because of the NFC game but does this really have much overlap with football? I thought they originally said we were getting four originals in a row.
Ooh FOOK I hadn't realised
On the flip side this weeks was brilliant. Poor Kalinda though, I trust she has a plan up her sleeve though. WE SHALL SEE.
Of course Kalinda had a plan up her sleeve and what a plan. Best episode of the series I'd say (which REALLY is saying something). Every scene was sublime. From the Eli/David Lee sparring over Caitlin, Eli and desire woman, the whole plan for dealing with the grand jury and the bombshell in the final scene. Far too many moments to name!
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING
Let me start with my moments of the episode:
I DESIRE YOU
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't think I was being hostile.
That's how a PRO does it.
*Wendy lost for words as the plan unfolds*
I do think that might be my new favourite episode of the show yet. The amazing scene with Diane talking back to Wendy, Wendy having to backtrack as Will and Kalinda's plan was finally revealed and literally speechless, the little moments between Eli/Caitlin and of course Eli/Stacie THING was great to watch. David Lee really is such a wonderful c**t. That's obviously not the last we'll see of Wendy of course, she's a woman scorned x2 now!
That last episode was superb. By far the best of the season. This is now firmly one of my all time favourite shows, I absolutely adore it. It has such a perfect cast, and the writing is just brilliant.
Another superb episode. I cannot get over how on point this programme is. It all feels so— realistic. The mirroring of real life events, the reuse of characters from former episodes. The complicated psychology going on. All the twists and turns and then excellently constructed humour.
I have no doubts that series 4 is shaping up to be the best. Let's hope it remains to this standard for many more series. How is it doing in the ratings, does anyone know?
It's getting around 10 million and a 2.1/2.2 wheras Season 2 was getting around 11 million and 2.3/2.4 so not really much down.
Fourth! But yes it does seem quite likely at this point, the critical acclaim definitely helps counter the not so fantastic ratings.
I've just watched this weeks episode, once again fantastic stuff. The mix between drama, comedy, emotion et al is perfectly pitched every time. The Stacy/Eli thing is just so funny, she's so cunning! Liking the new threads with Kalinda and now Kaitlin, the former more so but I really can't think of what they're going to do with Kaitlin. Loved the return of a comedy judge this week too!
Another good episode. Not quite up there with some of the other stellar moments this series (I found Will's sisters a little tedious for example). The case itself was projected well and the power games were interesting. Intrigued to see what role Caitlin will play. There's something ROGUE about her methinks...
It should get a renewal this year to give it enough episodes to enter syndication. It's ratings are right at the bottom of the CBS pile though.
I expect you're right Silas, but it's 1.8 this week is still not a good sign at any rate. I'll be distraught when it does end though, it's within touching distance of being my favourite show EVAR (currently a title held by Star Trek: Voyager).
Me too! It's just too good to end so soon.
If it does get a season 4, it may be a Friday 10pm show just to get it to syndication. Shows on CBS with not so hot S3 ratings almost always get a 4th for syndication purposes. Hell, this hasn't fallen that badly year on year and it's not too far behind CSI:Miami ratings wise.
Well I really liked that again, agree it was a little less good than the past few but they were amazing. I loved some of the little moments, Baranski's LAUGH for example and the little things between Peter/Cary (he really seemed to lose a lot of respect for Peter). I know I've said it before, but David Lee is AMAZING, him sitting outside the office staring in had me in fits of laughter - he has such an expressive face, even when he's not trying to say anything.
Caitlin's future looks much more interesting now, I'm sure David has PLANS for her but it seems like Diane has too now. Also, Alicia seems quite suspicious of her, it'll be fun to see that play out.
Why do people lose interest in programmes when they (by all intents and purposes) continue to grow and become better shows/brands over the passage of time? Is America truly that obsessed with the "next best thing"/"fresh in the moment". What an all consuming and cold society to live in, for its treatment of this glorious show if nothing else.
Really enjoyed this episode but Nancy is my favourite opposing counsel and I loved her moments with Caitlin.
Will's sisters weren't the best addition but I kind of liked how they think he's with Kalinda when the viewer is well aware that he isn't.
Interesting episode. Is this really the last we'll be seeing of Caitlin? I'm not convinced.
Great to see Colin Sweeney again and another Michael J Fox appearance coming next week.
So happy this got renewed, I was expecting a cancellation judging by the awful ratings :/
What a fabulously complex episode.
It was all about Diane for me though (naturally), her juggling Kurt and Jack and in general her realtionship with both is great. I'd really like to see her end up with Jack though, he's more charming. Her sticking her neck out for Alicia was nice, I suspect something may come of that though.
Nice to see Alicia getting her BITCH ON though *.*
It was another excellent episode. Everything has been so right this season (as I keep saying).
I genuinely look forward to a new episode each week and feel sad when one finishes in the blink of an eye. Sign of a truly good show.
Not that it now matters for renewal this season, but this got a 1.9 this week, which is up on the past 2 episodes which got 1.8 and 1.7.
Horny Diane > everyone else.
I LOVE YOU
I wasn't so interested in the case this week or the re-appearance of Michael J Fox. It was more about everything going on with Alicia/Diane, Diane/her men and Alicia/Kalinda.
May be renewed but CBS aren't bothering to air it through May sweeps, season finale is on April 29th. At least that means only one repeat week before the finale.
Fantastic episode, couple of great turns. I hope Matthew Perry's role gets extended as I'm loving his role.
I have a feeling he's going to beat Peter you know, either that or Peter will drop out for some reason. Mike is the type of c**t you love to hate though, I would love to see him fail.
Jackie's little manipulative TURN (I'm not sure it's real or not, I'd hazard a guess that she's faked it somehow) was a great move too. It was nice to see Peter and Alicia seemingly on the road to reconciliation too, I would love to see them back together.
I'm just watching the grand jury episode again on More4.
'I DESIRE YOU' still cracks me up 3 months later!
Ooh, very clever case this week. It was especially nice to see them actually make the judges something more than just some comedy relief. It's going to be tough without this for the next 4 months after this final episode. There seems to be an awful lot left to get resolved though, so presumably we'll be left with a number of cliffhangers through into S4. It's nice to see Kalinda and Alicia back on track too.
I'd love for them to pull a shocker and have Kalinda killed in the finale.
Can't believe it's been an entire season already!
The thought did cross my mind, there really hasn't been a proper WOW moment yet like there was near the end of the last 2 seasons.
I honestly cannot believe we are at the last episode now. After so much build-up mid-season it feels like everything has sort of wimpered down so to speak. I'm not left anticipating/expecting much for the final episode. Someone needs to die to make it go boom boom I feel.
Seems a lot will be happening in the season finale ALL OF A SUDDEN. All a bit rushed but oh well. Should be decent.
So glad it has been renewed for a fourth season.
fbopdgbhjripgpjseog-dshgdspg
Best episode ever. Good Lord.
To be frank, I was expecting something more *WOAH*.
I have to agree but I'm just thankful to have Kalinda alive. As if they've left us on that cliffhanger though - are we actually meant to know who her husband is? I was expecting to see him walk through the door.
OOOOH
I thought that was pretty perfect (quelle surprise, I know): Loved the bluff that was the lawsuit, Canning and Patty make a great team. I'm glad we didn't get to see the husband though, just one more thing to look forward to! Oh and I really really wanted Alicia to GO INTO THE HOUSE. She always looks so happy with Peter these days, if it does end with them back together I'd be most pleased.
Well I just watched the entire season in like a week and I don't really know what to say other than this is the best 'serious' show on TV (I get my camp kicks from Revenge, don't make me choose) and season 3 was crazy brilliant. Better than season 2? I'd probably have to watch that again. Like John I think that had more standout episodes (like the jury deliberation one which remains the best to date) but this has been almost pitch perfect throughout.
I would say it did take a dip in the middle with the Wendy Scott Carr vs. Will thing. I didn't buy that at all, it smacked of trying to bring back a popular guest character but not knowing what to do with her. I was glad when that was resolved. It didn't threaten to derail the show though in the way that the Derrick/Blake misfire did last season. Otherwise it's been STELLAR. Favourite guest stars had to be Colin Sweeney (make him a regular. I don't know HOW but just DO IT) and Dana in the DA's office. Her chemistry with Carey AND Kalinda was off the frickin' chain. Sad we didn't get a proper resolution to her arc though. Also enjoyed Caitlyn and glad we got to see more of David Lee.
ROLL ON SEASON 4. I don't know where we go from here or if it's possible to keep going up but the writing on this show is so so good I doubt it will disappoint. Wondering if Kalinda's husband is somebody we've seen before...
Mad excited to see Chenoweth xD
OMG KALINDA *.*
Doesn't J MARG look fab *.*
Gutted that Kristin is only going to be in one (iirc?) episode, due to the injury she picked up on set. But the new season looks amazing.
Scrap that, Cheno's back for at least another episode. She tweeted a picture of her on set yesterday.
IS THAT YOU SYDNEY BRISTOW?
I did laugh when I saw the choreographed fighting. Also, the lack of the MIGHTY Christine Baranski is upsetting.
Christine has realised that it's best not to DILUTE her fabulosity by pissing it away on mere TRAILERS.
PATTI NYHOLM - EMMY WINNER
has a nice RING to it *.*
Oh my YES what a great opening episode. It had everything - David Lee being arrogant, David Lee being put in his place, Baranski giving some amazing GLANCES, Alicia taking some c**t DOWN, Kalinda fighting, Kalinda having rough sex, Zach being hot AND solving his own problem. Plus various sundry moments from Eli and co. Poor useless Grace though.
It was great indeed and I'm really confident about this season being even better than the last now. Kalinda in combat is amazing. I hope we find out more about what supposedly makes him so dangerous soon. It was a nice twist that it was Zach who solved his own problem rather than Alicia in the end. And David Lee was bringing the gold.
Everything relating to Kalinda ruined the episode for me, she's become a caricature.
I cannot believe Kalinda is ruining this for me.
I can't believe she's ruining it for you either. She's amazing! THE ICE CREAM SCENE. Watching the first two eps made me realise kind of how rare it is to find a TV show where you completely believe their world. I don't feel like I'm watching actors. It's so god damn well written. I hate Robert and Michelle King.
The ridiculous storyline with her husband completely derailed an otherwise fantastic episode. Awful awful.
TIME TO GET RID OF HIM PLEASE.
I agree with Mr. Triangles. The whole Kalinda/husband thing isn't working for me, yes the ice cream scene was very good, but the rest was enough to negate that and then some.
I'm on the fence. Were they going for humour in the ice cream scene because I just burst out laughing.
WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING WITH THIS SHOW? KALINDA'S EGGY TITS?
Can you honestly not look past the two minutes of screentime given to Kalinda's marriage?
The SLEW of returning guest stars this week was amazing. Nathan Lane is particularly brilliant, he's really underplaying it/not hamming it up at all. Carey isn't getting much to do though. I felt the case was wrapped up a bit neatly but I like the direction Alicia is going in/her gradual reunion with Peter.
I will say the thing with Kalinda and her husband is unspeakably DIRE right now, but thankfully it's not given too much screen time so I can live with it. Just about.
As ever the case was so very clever, I quite liked the resolution too, usually it works out for them in the end but them being kind of f***ed over was a nice change. Like Jark says the guest stars were GR8, loved Rita popping up again, pity they didn't give her a little bit more MEAT to work with but I'm not going to complain too much. Plus if you have CRICKET CARUTH on your screen, you better be GLAD TO BE ALIVE.
CRICKET. I swear I died.
I'm irritated because I know they can do much better. They're making Kalinda such a caricature and not utilising her like they did in the first season. MOPE.
Another cracking case this week. Diane really was on FINE FORM, all I could think of whilst watching her scenes was Johnkm's likely reaction. My only gripe is that it's a bit unlikely Mandy would've been working on that story for two months when it was so clearly bullshit...
My favourite ep so far, I wonder if it's a coincedence that the husband wasn't in it. Loved the case and Jackie going crazy.
Haha, my reaction the Baranski scenes was as predictable as it gets... 'OH MY GOD THIS WOMAN IS f***ING AMAZING'. I loved her I'M PISSED OFF NOW bits and of course the final scene with her LEGS *.*
But yes, it was the best episode of the series so far. Nice to have Jackie back, even if I would rather have her being a passive aggressive bitch than a senile old fart, but I have faith some shit might go down in the near future. I loved the judge too 'I HAVE A WIFE DONTCHAKNOW...' AS IF! I love how, unlike most shows of this nature, the cases are clever and clearly have a lot of thought put into them.
Oh and yes, no Marc Warren was a blessing. No doubt he'll be back next week bringing all the menace of an out of date bag of crisps to proceedings.
SEE.
Wasn't that fantastic without THAT storyline bringing the tone down?
"If there’s one brand of Good Wife episode I just can’t resist, it’s a Diane-centric episode. Watching her gaze at the abandoned 27th floor and then march out of the elevator to her offices with renewed vigor was hot as hell. Later, when she took off her shoes and triumphantly put her feet up against the window? Even better. The Good Wife has been getting people hot and bothered with its Kalinda storyline, which some say is getting too raunchy. But for me, this is where the raunch is at. Nothing sexier than Diane at the top of her game."
Where is THAT from? 'Cos it's AH-MAZING
So she's RUNNING AGAINST HIM then? I'm simultaneously pleased and annoyed by that but it should make for good drama at any rate.
The final scene this week was so sad and really well acted all round, but the actual case itself was a little less engrossing than the last few. Not sure exactly what game Nick is playing with Kalinda, but I didn't mind his little appearance this week because the I'M A BIG SCARY CRIMINAL I AM thing was toned down a lot. Oh and Nathan Lane during the chat with the bakery guy was hilarious!
DO YOU LIKE BRAZILIAN FOOD?
Christina Ricci was fabulous and I'm glad we'll be seeing more of Amanda Peet.
OMG what an episode. Stockard Channing, Bebe Neuwirth, THE RETURN OF THE LAUGH, a gay interest case and the return of the HORNS to mask swearing. Amazing.
I'm loving all the Musical Theatre actors littering this show. It's wonderful.
So good was the episode that I am currently rewatching it. SO MANY MOMENTS.
It was a fun episode with lots of 'moments' but definitely not as great as last week's. The final scene however with the traffic drowning out naughty Alicia was fabulous.
What a fab episode to start the year. The return of Wendy Scott-Carr was great, as was getting to meet Louis Canning's wife.
I was all like YAYAYAY when Wendy strode in, but by the end of the episode it was more OH GOD HERE WE GO AGAIN. Seriously woman, GET A NEW THING, you've tried and failed, tried again and failed again, GIVE UP, MOVE ON, FLICK YOURSELF OFF, ANYTHING.
Seriously, I loved the episode beyond that one little thing. It's all hotting up nicely, I mean surely they are going to keep the firm but the journey to getting there should be an interesting one. The final scene was brilliant though and not at all what I was expecting. The scenes with Canning and Alicia and her being able to see right through him crap were hilarious - this show does humour so well.
Should I catch up with this?
IS HE GONE?
Yes and yes. Each and every case this season has been a marvel to watch unfold.
Alicia is up to something. I'm not sure I liked the way she acted in that episode, it all felt a bit out of character, especially the final scenes with her and Diane and in the conference room. I hope the pay off for all this is something good.
Just watched The Art of War. Where has this show been hiding? So nice to see a good episode after so many blips.
I started watching this at season 1 with my gran and granddad, but kind of lost track near to the end of the season.
I may get the Season 1-2 box set, and continue on from there. Worth getting?
YES WITH SHINY GOLD GLITTERY BELLS ON
That's that settled, then.
Haha, sorry, a glance through this thread will tell you how obsessed I am with this show.
All is good. will be good to see Julianna again.
4.14 is now my favourite ever episode. It encapsulates everything that is SO SO GOOD about this show, it was funny, it was surprising, it was camp, it was dramatic and it was sad. LOVE Elsbeth so much, glad to see her having a more sizeable role and her face off/flirting with Kyle Mclachlan was absolutely hilarious, especially in the final scene with Eli and the wire, didn't expect that at all. It was nice to see Kalinda back to being Kalinda again too rather than all that SHIT with her SHIT husband.
Reading the reviews from last night - apparently it was one of the best episodes of the entire series, like you said.
I'm months behind!
I don't think it was quite up there with the final three episodes of S2 for me but otherwise it was fantastic.
The final few episode of S2 had an almighty emotional punch, the corridor scene is still among my very favourite scenes in any show ever but I think this episode was slightly better rounded. Plus it seems to have set in motion a lot of very interesting things.
Hmm, that episode wasn't quite as good but it was still better than almost ever other TV show right now. It's just SO FUNNY, I really hope we get lots more Elsbeth, though I'm not sure we will now that that whole thing seems to be over. Here little gave of 'musical co-conspirator (proper LOL moment)' with Call Me Jake was hilarious. Eli/Peter hugging was really nice, I really am rooting for him to be Governor now, Matty is just a big ol' DYKE with a bad hair cut.
Just reached the first appearance of THE JUDGE *.*
In my opinion she is probably the greatest guest star in US TV.
I'm now on season 2 and I had forgotten how much of an insufferable whiny cunt Cary was. Please tell me a season 4 storyline invokes him being hit by a train on the way to work.
He was actually working really well until episode 14 of S4, but the newly reborn whiny Cary has good reason to be as such this time.
Elsbeth Tascioni is probably my favourite guest star on this show, aside from the Judge of Life obviously!
Are you on S4 yet? Her flirting with Kyle ''call me Jake'' Mclachlan in the last 2 episodes was absolutely hilarious.
Not yet, on 314. Just about to run out of episodes I have previously seen.
Elsbeth in the episode with the sports tribunal was giving me so much life. Season 4 has maintained the quality thus far (I'm about 3 episodes behind). My only complaint is yet another "somebody investigates Diane/Will/Eli for no real reason" type storyline, but they seem to come with the package.
I can see why you might think that (what with you being eternally wrong in your opinions) but this one seems to actually serve a pretty good purpose.
I have that one to look forward to! The consistency of TGW is completely outstanding.
Wendy's storyline was by far the worst thing about season 3. I groaned when she turned up AGAIN in season 4. Just do one love.
She's back again? GOOD LORD when will that witch just go DIE. (And she can take Cary with her)
She's only back for one episode (in which Elsbeth basically makes it known that she needs to f*** RIGHT OFF). I always loved her, especially in S3, and especially in 3.14 when she gets owned by just about every single other character, including members of the jury.
In that case, BRING IT ON!!! That's going to be a fantastic scene.
She's been in two episodes so far this season (where I'm up to) and had no scenes with Elsbeth yet...
Cary is a brilliant character. The actor is so good at the little nuances. It's a shame he's so underused.
I just recall a scene where Elsbeth met Wendy when she was with her kids doing something and did the usual Elsbeth thing and then basically told her to stay away or she would take her down - it could just be an entirely different episode.
It was 3.14! HA, I guess I must have got confused because I rewatched it recently. SHAME ON ME. SORRY SILAS.
Just watched The Seven Day Rule - Diane was on fine form at the end. So happy this season has gotten much better and so happy I'm FINALLY about to watch the opus (hopefully... *.*) that is Red Team, Blue Team.
I do hope you love it, everyone I know does. Except Jark.
Why am I not surprised?
''You were in the Rose Salon?''
''Yes''
''And what were you doing there?''
''Anal''
SO MANY QOL MOMENTS in one episode *.* - Alicia's closing remarks, Diane and Kurt, Diane and Kalinda, Robin, Robin and Cary, basically everyone.
This weeks story was a bit crap, the first time since episode 11/12 I've said that. However the personal stories were brilliant, oh GOD I want her to end up with Peter so badly. I mean Will is all well and good, but I really think Peter has CHANGED and they are so good together.
That's such a WOMAN post, but it's how I feel.
Mamie Gummer is my favourite recurring guest star though and I thought it was an especially great episode for her character. I agree that she needs to stick with Peter, I am not liking the promo for next week at all.
I assume Cary and potentially Kalinda won't be written out whatever happens so don't really care if they break off at this point.
I'm certain they will leave, I just don't want Alicia to follow because that probably means LESS Diane (and Will, but I don't care about him really) screen time.
ARGH
you just know both the decision regarding Christian and the surveillance video are going to be big plot lines next season. I did LOVE that the first half was basically an episode of musical courtrooms with added guest appearances from about HALF the roster of guest actors.
The final scene wasn't really a surprise though, given everything that happened and I can see it playing out in a few interesting ways. My only worry with all this is less Diane screen time seems inevitable
AMAZING SEASON FINALE
Too many MOMENTS to talk about
Fantastic episode. I was so relieved when we saw who was at the door, bring on season 5.
And I somehow missed before now that IMO woman is SHEILA SHAY.
I hope they stick with this now. The changes sound exciting and should freshen the formula up. Alicia and Cary as the new Diane and Will, Peter as Governor, Diane a State Supreme Court judge, Colin Sweeney the landlord etc.
Alicia is brilliant, but she's NO Diane.
I have a feeling this new firm and Diane's new job and everything really could be a massive breath of fresh air to the show (not that it really needed it), provided they do it right. It also leaves Will in an interesting position, he has Kalinda but that's about IT. Well, David Lee I guess but he's as much of a liability as an asset at times
It would be nice to see Will V Alicia/Cary arguing in front of the Honourable Diane Lockhart *.*
What can you tease about Season 5?
Robert King: What we've been saying to the actors and what we'll happily say to you is this season is really going to start at 90 miles an hour, because next year it is going to be civil war in the firm. Every year up until now, we've had some kind of outside force. This year, it's going to be an inside force that's the problem, and that's going to play out as not needing as many guest stars to create tension, because most of the tension is going to be created by our characters within the firm. Usually, it's a little bit of PR bullshit when you say, “Oh, next year will be the year when everything explodes.” Well, it's not really PR bullshit for us to say that. This can't end happily for them. Once Alicia says “I'm in” to Cary, all the characters are going to be at each other's throats. You know what I'm most excited about? I think Matt Czuchry probably has not been as well served by our show as his talents deserve. Next year, obviously you're going to see Matt more at the center of what's going on.
ALSO. They get it: In looking back at this season as a whole, is there anything you would have done differently? And, conversely, what surprised you the most in terms of how the season turned out?
Robert King: We wanted to give Archie something meatier. If we had to do it again, we would not go down that route, as much as we enjoyed what Mark Warren did with Nick.
It's nice that he acknowledges at least that it didn't quite work out.
SO SO SO SO SO SO EXCITED for this to be back in a few weeks. Got myself caught in a couple of youtube cycles of the several hundred amazing moments across S1-4 the last few days. There is just so much to love.
Cannot wait. This is in my top 10 programmes ever.
Top 2 here *.*
Hmm, I know I said the same thing last year but I really would be AGOG if it gets renewed again (but obv hopin' and prayin' it does).
They are. They just happen to be crap too. To be honest I would rather it went out on a HIGH, up until now and bar the slightly awful Kalinda's husband thing it's been nearly the perfect show.
I'm FINALLY catching up now. I'm onto the Finale and GOOD LORD!!!! God is back! *.*
It's got a good amount of viewers but the networks favourite rating is the 18-49 share where it under performs compared to the rest of CBS. It is however a critical darling and has just scooped syndication. If it can hold strong on it's numbers this year it may just avoid the chop for another year.
There are at least three other CBS dramas I could potentially see ending after next season, could be a close call.
I reckon 5-0, Mentalist and potentially CSI + Blue Bloods are up for the chop. The later had the same numbers as CSI:NY but survived because it hits syndication this year.
I would agree that The Mentalist and probably Blue Bloods are almost certainly a goners, 5-0 has a syndication deal with TNT so it might stick around for a bit longer, CSI I don't see going anywhere for the time being.
re. this though, I tend to try and convince myself it's all over so that when it is I'm in some way prepared for it. I've been relatively lucky with the shows I ADORE not really getting canned too quickly, but I can STILL feel the bitter sting of reading that Sanctuary had been cancelled last year
OMG that sneak peak was everything. SO MUCH dramatic walking down corridors *.*
Lovely episode to return on too, nice heartwarming story and some interesting plot developments. Had everyone on FORM too which was nice and I like that this is all putting Alicia in yet another awkward position. LOVELY to see David Lee being a regular too (forgot all about that happening until I watched it) and in general YAY at it being back.
The only thing I wasn't hugely keen on was Peter and Marilyn, I guess they never really had any chance for him to LEER over other women much before but it felt a bit like they were trying to make us dislike Peter again and after S4 I think that's a bit odd.
Oh and we can add Jeffrey Tambor to the ever growing roster of amazing guest Judges.
Fantastic start to the new season (compare that episode to the premiere last year!). The preview looked incredible as well!
So happy with the Alicia/Cary storyline – especially now everyone is going to fall out. DRAMA DRAMA.
Echoing the praise for the return! Looks like they are determined to go out fighting which is superb. If they can keep the quality up through the year then they might just get a 6th season on Fridays. Might.
Just watched the first episode of the New season! WOW! After the episode there was a season trailer and I did get the sense they could be seeing this as the last season. Hopefully not
That preview is just.
OMG, next week looks incredible. SHITS ABOUT TO HIT THE FAN *.*
This week was SO COMPLEX I think I got lost with the case about half way through. It was funny though and nice to see Jeffrey back too.
Season 5 and the show is back at it's peak. HOW.
POOR DIANE
The abortion case was one of my very favourites. It's what the show does best, I love when an episode has some emotional pull and is thoughtful and makes me as a viewer consider my own view about the subject at hand.
I did find it an interesting and emotional case, and indeed an emotional episode all told. That scene with Will and Diane in her office, sat opposite the table from each other was pretty difficult to watch as someone who has LOVED their little team over the last 4+ years. I'm glad the promo shows Diane isn't being shunted off onto the sidelines totally in the next few episodes.
I kind of wanted Alicia to take up the management partner offer, the whole Florrick & Agos thing should be good fun but I feel like that could have brought a very interesting dynamic to the show, much like last season with the newfound struggles of being a partner.
Another excellent episode.
NEXT WEEK THO
I an super excited to watch as the av club review includes the phrase "MANIACAL WALKING" *.*
Oh my days that was everything I could have wanted from a Diane centric episode, especially the scenes near the end in the fabulous sunglasses *.*
In fact the final 5 minutes were just PERFECT. The music built up the tension so much and the slo-mo of her walking to Will's office too. In fact I kind of feel like the build up is going to have been more fun than next weeks eruption. It was nice to see Elsbeth and Viola back too, even if neither were utilised as well as their previous appearances.
Needless to say next week looks like the most explosive episode of the show thus far, but it does make me wonder what's going to be in the next 17 episodes.
This week's episode is easily the best episode ever. Not something you can say easily about a show that has (generally) been consistent for the past four seasons. Perfectly poised. Every emotion going; goosebumps, adrenaline, humour.
This season is a f***ing marvel and this next sneak peak has left me just as excited.
The last three episodes of season 2 have long been my favourite three (although I can't pinpoint a single one without going back to re-watch). I'm going to allow some time for all the hype to subside before deciding if this week's was even better for me but there is no denying what a fantastic hour it was.
Best show on TV right now. Seriously.
This episode IS my new favourite, though 4X14 and 3X14 round out my top 3 which I understand isn't the MOST popular opinion. Much of the rest of my top 10 would be late S2 episodes though with a couple from the tail end of S4 too.
The pacing, writing, direction and music are all totally on point week in week out, but this week was just a masterclass in how to build up an episode of television. It's also totally lived up to the title too and set forth some very interesting potential plotlines. I think it as obvious Diane wouldn't be a judge, but where does that leave her now? Where do Kalinda's REAL loyalties lay? Peter is just setting up the storm that is eventually going to ruin his Governorship, but as a viewer it was everything I wanted to see. Peter finally getting a chance to BEAT Will and Will obviously being the more intelligent of the 2 playing the long game. GLORIOUS.
I love that the next 3 episodes are titled 'The Next Day', 'The Next Week' and 'The Next Month' AND that we have an unbroken series of episodes leading up to the Christmas break. Yay all round.
germgopresnhbofnrhobrs\dge;pzmgvcm,vb cdf is basically what I feel after reading your last two posts
NOBODY in my life away from the computer screen watches this. NO-ONE to BASK in conversation about, what is, without doubt the best TV show going.
(tho i would like to see a few episodes set outside the firm(s) and out of chicago thx)
Anyone watching this on U.S pace? It's amazing
Heartbreaking for Diane.
When this show eventually comes to an end I think they will give her the happy ending...
It was very brief, but that bathroom scene! I know everyone has been putting in sterling work this season and I am just a TEENSY bit biased, but I really do think she is knocking it out of the park week after week. I also loved her bedlinen *.*
I have to say Will's new girl was a bit odd. I know it's supposed to be 'oh he's going out of control' but it's a bit SPELLING IT OUT FOR YOU to have him do it with a woman so far removed from his type, with a TATTOO no less. I hope it pays off. Just like I hope bloody Melissa George and her stupid bloody BLAZER pays off, she's not quite as bad as Mr. Kalinda but it's certainly not a plot device we need.
It will (ha) be interesting to see where they take Will by seasons end. I suspect he's heading down a somewhat irredeemable path and, like you, I don't actually feel that much concern/interest/worry/whatever about that. He serves a near vital purpose on the show, but as an actual character I've always found him rather uninteresting on his own merits.
In fact I think it's time for a MAIN CHARACTER RATE
10 Alicia Florrick
09 Cary Agos
10 Kalinda Sharma
07 Will Gardner
11 Diane Lockhart
10 Eli Gold
10 David Lee
09 Peter Florrick
The guest roster is basically ALL 10'S too, bar Marc Warren obv.
11 Alicia Florrick
09 Cary Agos
10 Kalinda Sharma
08 Will Gardner
10 Diane Lockhart
10 Eli Gold
07 David Lee - but he has GROWN on me as of late
09 Peter Florrick
10s to Jackie, Nancy and Elsbeth Tascioni whilst you're at it
This season has given me some of the very best drama I've watched in years. It's absolutely, hands down, the best show around in terms of acting and writing. The last 2 episodes in particular have been absolutely stellar.
Alicia, Kalinda, Diane, David Lee, Jackie and Elsbeth are all outstanding characters, perfectly played, with everyone else a very close 2nd to them all.
It's a shame this is likely to be the last season, even though this week's episode had the best ratings and viewings figures of the season so far. I'll really miss this show if it gets cancelled.
I've put off watching this for too long. Downloading Season 1 right now.
''Who are you?''
''Kalinda''
AMAZING, telling them everything AND nothing all at once. Oh and LOL at Nathan Lane ''ACTING'' and David Lee going to ever greater lengths to outdo himself in the sneery cunty stakes. Now that things have calmed down a little it's nice to get the little things like that back and also interesting to see Will chat with Owen about Alicia and let his guard down for a bit.
10 Alicia Florrick
09 Cary Agos
10 Kalinda Sharma
07 Will Gardner
11 Diane Lockhart
10 Eli Gold
09 David Lee
09 Peter Florrick
these are what i would score. pretty much totally in sink with you jawn.
!! That final scene, WHAT
Jeffrey Tambor KILLED IT this week. Absolutely hilarious, it wouldn't have worked with someone with anything less than his impeccable comic timing. Just glorious, so nice to have the humour back too, even though the last 3/4 episodes have been undeniably incredible too.
Jason O'Mara is the wrong kind of sleazy/charming for me though, I hope he isn't round for too long. Maybe it's just my hatred for Irish accents though. Jackie's miraculous recovery from her CGI bug hallucination days is interesting, but I'm not going to complain too much if it mains more Eli chasing his tail in the wake of a Jackie manouvre.
*.*
That episode. THAT SCENE (you know which I mean). ON FIRE.
I was obviously totally on board with the Alicia/Will fantasy courtroom sequences but the absolute killer moment for me the final scene with Eli/Veronica and Marilyn, which ALMOST did enough to justify her existence within the show.
Just decided to not wait until the season ends and catch up with the 10 aired episodes instead. And all I gotta say is FUCK ME *.* I VERY rarely pick fav eps but s05e05 is easily TGW's best episode EVER *.* From the very beginning to the very end! Absolutely incredible. I always LOVED this show but this just brought it to a whole new level!
08 Alicia Florrick
08 Cary Agos
09 Kalinda Sharma
03 Will Gardner
11 Diane Lockhart
08 Eli Gold
08 David Lee
08 Peter Florrick
Alicia at times can be very grating..
Kalinda would be a 10/11 but she is terribly underutalized this season.
Diane is the only 11 as of right now.
Will to leave this season plz. kthx.
10 Alicia Florrick
07 Cary Agos
10 Kalinda Sharma
05 Will Gardner
11 Diane Lockhart
09 Eli Gold
06 David Lee
01 Peter Florrick
JOINING THE FUN.
like 6 eps in and it's great fun but i'm not TOTALLY won yet. like do they ever lose a case? does alicia ever NOT find the crucial evidence totally by luck? and i'm really disappointed in how boring diane is so far. major crushing on alicia tho, got something of NIGELLA about her.
all in good time eh.
oh the fun is only STARTING! The best is yet to come.
Diane doesn't TRULY come alive for a while, episode 11 of S1 is her first true MOMENT.
These parts gave me life.
The latter remained my #1 TGW moment until S3E14!
TONIGHT TONIGHT TONIGHT
(well tomorrow really, nonetheless)
Meh, Wasn't the best episode.
I did like the line outside the courtroom when Alicia mentioned that it was the outfit Will banged her in first.. HA!
i'm growing a little tired of these will vs alicia court battles. the novelty is beginning to wear thin.
TRICKY TRICK
Amazing.
That was... AMAZING. #1 on My Chart!! Haha.
Not lying though, that song was pretty catchy.. probably because we heard the corus about 50 times last night.
And yes; the Will vs Alicia thing is getting tired.
We need some Will vs Diane.
Also, are these the only two law firms in Chicago or something?
Damian and that police woman are becoming as bad as he who shall not be named. GET RID. OF ALL OF THEM (not Kalinda obv, just keep her celibate). Marilyn and her bump can chuff off too..
Eli and Kalinda are GOLD together though, and the case was solid and funny enough if a little inconsequential and also I agree that Willicia needs to be put to rest in terms of courtroom battles for the time being. The final scene was great though, I really wanted it all to work out for Eli and Peter, much as it was obvious the boxes would bite them in the arse eventually.
Worst episode of the season, but still an 8/10 episode.
Baranski in that video *.*
Considering getting series 1-4 on DVD so I can get back into it again. Really want to see where it went since I left it.
Another great episode this week, I really enjoyed the Will vs. Alicia battle being twisted in a different way, the constant courtroom shuffling was fun. The Peter stuff was good too, I'm liking Marilyn.
Now for a long wait before the next one it appears.
Marilyn becoming less dull by the second! *.*
Great episode.
I have to say I have been LOVING the music this season so much, it's really added to the overall feel of the show perfectly (I'm always up for some dramatic strings *.*).
Anyway, it wasn't AS good an episode as I would have liked prior to such a lengthy break, but it's setting up a lot of stuff for going forward which is good I guess. I'm definitely warming to Marilyn now too, especially with her uber dramatic striding up the corridor and the general look of indignation on here face ALL THE TIME. At the same time (and I know it's the POINT), but I'm really going off Peter again. I mean I still think Will is a dick too, but now Alicia should totally end up alone when it's over, not in an oh boo hoo nobody wants her way, a f*** you I don't need a man way. Or something.
It does feel like the show is juggling just a few too many balls right now, it usually does it with aplomb but now it's starting to feel like certain characters and things are getting short shrift and with a mission to seemingly come up with the single most complex and ridiculous courtroom scene(s) ever created it's JUST ABOUT to tip over the line into too much I fear.
I do think the first half of the season having been near wall to wall perfection has meant the last 2 episodes have seemed dramatically less good, despite still being like 8.5/10 affairs.
Season 5 so far has been Outstanding, up there with all the best shows. If I don't hear The Good Wife being nominated in the Emmys I will be disgusted.
The Season 1 & 2 boxset arrived today, so I may begin watching tonight!
I'm at 1x15 and I already LOVE this show, but it still lacks in AMAZING moments and plot twists, so when does it get there?
S2, pretty much from the midway point on it's PURE GOLD. I wouldn't say there's ever any truly, truly unexpected plot developments though, but virtually are deeply satisfying and appropriate, which is much more important.
I have finally caught up just in time for the new episodes. I could not love this any more
YAY
Favourite episodes? Character? Judge? Guest star? Peter or Will?
we really should have a good wife awards john
I LOVE YOU
Season 4 episode 13 through to like 5 episode 9 was FLAWLESS
OMG, the next episode is called ''PARALLEL CONSTRUCTION, BITCHES'' *.*
i'm so excited. i've missed this show so much.
i feel it's the one time we come together john
There's no greater power than the power of (the) GOOD WIFE
Makes it all the more SPECIAL, surely
It's a 3-episode event apparently! Much plot.
Oh my days. Sometimes life is just too good.
- That was... almost Will-like.
- Thank you, Diane.
Very good episode. Nothing amazing, but a great introduction to the 2nd half of the season.
Well I thought that was pretty much the perfect hour of TV. The promo for the next ones looks even better though! Glad this whole election fraud thing isn't going to be dragged out until the end of the season (although having it done away with so early does also make me think the producers are making PLANS).
Anyway yeah, it's pretty much everything I expect from current TGW. A case with about 20 plot twists, that always feels exciting and interesting because it sheds light on some ridiculous quirk of the law. It was all the better of course because of how it ties together EVERY aspect of the out of course stuff too: Kalinda and Carey, Alicia and Will, Will and Peter, Eli and Alicia, Marilyn being a self righteous bitch, Florrock Agos V LG. A lack of Diane though, but I guess that will be made up for in the coming episodes if the promo is anything to go by. This MOST SHOCKING TGW MOMENT EVER thing seems like it's underplaying Hitting The Fan a little as that will take some doing to outDRAMA.
Could the most shocking moment be Alicia actually going to jail?
People thought this would be cancelled? Think again.
Yay. It's horrible to think I wouldn't have been too bothered this time last year. CBS really do seem proud of the show, and obviously aren't bothered about the ratings TOO much. I really don't see it going anywhere as long as it remains the best show on network television. It's still the only one up there with cable, right?
I'm sure the current sublime season has helped it out. Probably going to end up being its best season?
Word out there that the rest of the season is incredibly strong and more gritting than ever.
Cannot. Wait.
Oh yay, but then I was also ALL OVER most of S4 too when I know most of you lot weren't. The last 10/12 episodes were truly great and made up for all the Marc Warren/DEBT crap of the first half.
Is there anything better than watching a show you love reach a new peak in it's fifth (!) season?
Fantastic episode.
Any theories for next week?
Was that the first episode with no court scenes? It set up the next episode perfectly, I really can't wait!
It definitely felt like a 'middle act' episode this week, but when THAT is your middle act, well, you know you're onto a winner. I cannot help but be filled with glee (and possibly let out a little squeal too) when Elsbeth does her little 'HA, GOT YOU' by throwing some insane legal jargon in someone's face, kind of feels nice for her to be the one to have bagged Rayna.
Next week looks like an absolute cracker though, I have no idea what's going to happen. I HOPE it's the end of the voting fraud thing, it's a great storyline, but not the kind of thing that needs to be dragged on for another 7/8 episodes. I also want everyone to come out of it okay, but clearly either Peter or Will won't (or maybe NEITHER will).
This is still consistently the best show on TV. The acting is superb.
Elsbeth is amazing. She should be in every episode.
To say the episode took a turn I did not expect is rather an understatement. Not sure how I feel about it yet, though.
Shocked.
So perfectly executed.
I'll post in spoilers now..
Although Will was not one of my favorite characters - I was blown away! Didn't see it coming AT ALL. Surprised they were able to keep this under-wraps so well.
I remember thinking in the first 15 minutes of the show "I thought this was The Good Wife, why am I seeing so much Will? Than bam! - LITERALLY!
It seemed like such a random episode to kill Will off. They could have made it a cliff hanger before the Olympics. Or even at the end of the season (read there are only a few episodes left this season anyways).
I'm still thinking about it 12 hours later. Something about last nights episode was golden
I don't know what to say. I'm pretty devastated and I finished it at like 1pm so, mood killed for the rest of the day
DO NOT CLICK IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE EPISODE YET.
Manly tears at that preview. They've been writing this storyline for the past year, impressive how they kept it all so quiet.
Not seen these 3 new episodes yet but so excited after seeing the reactions
Yeah, that's pretty much where I stand with it. I'm kind of amazed we didn't know about it! One of the good things about not being a HUGE show I guess.
Ok my episode didn't have the COMING UP bit. AMAZING. Well, mainly Diane V David Lee and Peter and Alicia.
I'm still in shock, I didn't see it coming at all. And like everyone else, I'm really impressed they managed to keep it under wraps. I can't wait to see how the show progresses without him, I can definitely see a lot of Emmy Awards coming their way.
i am in SHOCK. good god, so gripping, so incredible.
this is one of the best seasons of any television show i have ever watched.
the rest of the season looks to be incredible.
f***.
oh my god
Although that does make sense if you remember that conversation with Kalinda ("Life is overrated").
If only I watched this episode not knowing that something big is going to happen. Still, AMAZING.
omfggg
I think we all knew this was going to be a difficult episode to watch, well I did anyway, but oh my goodness David Lee's reaction properly got to me. It's kind of how I tend to react in such situations, but it was just so well done and brilliantly acted and yes it did make me cry. Also Diane's f*** YOU to that c**t was just amazing, Christine Baranski definitely gave the performance of the episode for me, pulling it all together perfectly when needed when obv she was so far from that in reality.
Really like the way they backed the whole 'life if shit' thing up this week with the missed call/voicemail and then Alicia simply never knowing what Will wanted to talk about. Not that I needed the situation to be justified, but that kind of detail and what it means for her makes the whole thing that much better and is once again testament to the Kings for how important little things can be to the story. Also the silent car ride was brilliantly done too.
Guessing next week we have another direct follow on, really looking forward to the Peter and Alicia showdown too, what with the mood she's currently in *.* Oh and of course Diane V David Lee should be awesome.
ALSO, did anyone notice that Kalinda's accent has been, shall we say, WOBBLY of late? Maybe it's because she's in a couple of British things at the minute, but I did find it to be a bit distracting, noticed it last week when she shouted 'paramedics' too.
Oh and Diane and the intern, amazing. Get your stuff and go, don't come back *.*
I did notice Kalinda's accent, tbh I just put it down to all the emotion that she was portraying and it kinda helped the performance for me. I loved her little stunt with Jeffrey.
Such a fantastic episode and it all felt so realistic. Alicia, Kalinda, Diane, Cary, all great. This was the first time I really liked David Lee.
The promo for the next episode looks VERY interesting for Peter/Alicia. Two week wait
That was so gripping. Much more than a death on Game Of Thrones.
I hope they all get Emmys thrown at them.
Well, to be honest an episode without a death in GoT is more of a surprise than otherwise!
I can now declare 5.05 my favourite episode of the show so far So dramatic!
Nearly fully caught up now
oh my f***ing god @ 5.15. I feel as if the show's always been very 'gentle' with its drama (wasn't particularly impressed with the way they handled the Kalinda/Alicia fall-out after the secret was exposed (YES it still annoys me even now x)), but the acting, writing and basically everything was spot on in that episode! *.*
The following episode was extremely emotional as well. wiping the tears up even now.
That finale. *.* Diane
Incredible season.
Ahh yes! So peachy My only complaint is that Finn Polmar's existence in the end felt a little pointless. I hope he comes back next season with an improved storyline.
Did not expect that from Diane at all, but that's amazing *.*
The argument Cary and Alicia had in the office was brilliant as well! I hope they don't end up going somewhere with that ending for Alicia though!
Get Jackie and Veronica a spin off where they get drunk and GET BITCHY *.*
Also, Diane better come out of this like a PHOENIX FROM THE ASHES because she really did give it her all in the face of Satan's left testicle (Canning). I'm a bit torn about the Alicia running for State's Attorney thing. If S6 is the end (and really who knows at this stage, ratings wise it ought to be though) and she does run and does win it would bring the show full circle, from devoted wife to basically doing exactly what Peter did at the start (presumably better, too) whilst juggling everything else. Would be a nice statement/message for the whole show I think. On the other hand I don't want her to 'settle' for that when she can clearly do much more with Florrick Agos with Diane on board. An Alicia Diane courtroom tag team would be AMAZING.
MAKE
THIS
HAPPEN
http://uk.eonline.com/news/537697/a-good-wife-spinoff-elsbeth-tascioni-your-time-may-come
^OMFG best news ever.
She's been stellar in The Good Wife.
Awesome on True Blood.
But under utilized in Person of Interest.
She's amazing. Deserves her own show for sure.
Is The Good Wife not doing well?
I'm assuming they're probably just north of 10 Million on average per season. Not as good as when they started out.. but still decent.
Let it be known, I hate spinoffs. I wouldn't care for a Elsbeth Tascioni spinoff, I just want Carrie Preston on my TV.
Ratings haven't dropped that much overall, but in the key demographic it's doing pretty poorly, for example it was 23rd overall this season and 78th in the demo.
Also, much as I ADORE Elsbeth, a spin-off would clearly be an awful idea. Part of the reason she is so good is because she is the exception to the rule in TGW and counterpoints the often rigid thoughts and actions of many of the characters (well, until season 5 anyway) and so on her own it would be a case of diluting what makes her so amazing and nobody would win. Not that it will ever happen though. Even if TGW was a big hit spinning it off wouldn't be all that easy.
Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE it to happen, but I would rather Elsbeth remain the amazing guest character she is than be watered down and SULLIED. Even Canning's shtick was starting to grate after 4 consecutive episodes. I'm not sure CBS could afford MJF as a regular though, so hopefully he won't be forever ruined in S6.
It's all about PATTI NYHOLM anyway, bye
Well they do need another main male figure now that Will is dead. Plus it could be fun having someone actually NICE in the ASA office for a change. Unless the 3 episodes I'm yet to watch contain some gamechanger~
This may only excite ME, but they have released a new soundtrack for the show with the AMAZING S5 music included *.*
Well Trust played during the shibaru episode so yeah they do have some great songs played during the show *.*
I am LIVING FOR the updated Hitting The Fan. I downloaded the version used in the show from DB's website, but this one has a much bigger, more orchestral feel about it. Also loving that the theme tune is essentially 2.5 minutes of (amazing) build up to the 10 seconds of intro we know.
Also this:
OMG YES
THE DRAMA
*.*
That is all
Is Michael J Fox back, does anyone know?
Yes, there's a (geographically locked) preview clip out there and he's in it. We're also getting David Hyde Pierce in a recurring role this season too and Kyle Mclachlan is staying on board too.
Heidi Range for equity partner!
As if Heidi could even HOLD A CANDLE to a first year associate at LG or F&A. Bitch can only DREAM.
heidi is all good and well and always appropriate tbh but what of the new season. are there any details out there?
john pls tell me as i haven't the energy or the energy to search the web and therefore u should do it for me.
I don't think there's much out there beyond what I said above really:
David Hyde Pierce is joining in a recurring role (his first TV role since Frasier amazingly) as a high profile cable news guy, who is eying up a political career in order to thwart corruption ETC. I can only assume he will be a foil for Alicia (who will decide to run?).
Steven Pasquale (him from Do No Harm, the shitty NBC Jekyll and Hyde doctor thing from last season) has been cast in an as yet unspecified role for 2 episodes, though the TALK ABOUT THE TOWN is that he will be Alicia's campaign manager, or at the very least someone Eli is attempting to put into that role for her.
Kyle McLachlan will be returning too and so too will Elsbeth (unsurprisingly), although for an unspecified number of episodes and also probably not for a bit.
God I hope not.
U WEARING PANTIES GURL?
Clearly Peter is going to sleep with her, never have I seen such an irrelevant storyline get carried forward a season. On the season premiere no less.
Maybe Alicia will get locked up for something related to all of these drug dealings. We could get an OITNBesq season of The Good Wife.
Wow, I missed this so freaking much! I was hooked from the first second to the last. Brilliant direction and an amazing storyline
It's so good to have this back. My life feels that little bit more full and joyful today.
By the way, Matt Czuchry is SO FIT. Naked photoshoot, please!
OH
MY
GOD
Diane calmly walking out of the office, the heads nodding, the gradual building of the masses, the sad goodbye, the doors closing, the music. On paper such a simple scene, but wow.
(that may or may not have a little, a lot, or everything to do with it being Diane)
Will this show ever cease to amaze me? I hope not! Everything second was perfect, again.
Does the Matthew process really exist?
And how incredible is the direction in every episode? I never notice such things, but The Good Wife definitely stands out.
It does appear to be a real thing, according to WIKI anyway. It sounds like the kind of thing Christians would come up in order to ''fix'' court or some other nonsense.
I thought the episode was solid enough, but I thought the Gloria Steinem cameo was tacky as, maybe it was just the Alicia's imaginary visions of her as some kind of angelic deity that did it, but it just felt a little heavy handed for a show which usually has the deftest of touches. Stunt castings are fine, but 2 in as many episodes, coupled with more shirtless Matt (which I don't mind, it just feels a bit tacky for the show) just feels like the show is cheapening itself a little in order to try and manipulate 'moments' like they had so many of in S5.
I'm probably just holding it to higher standards than other shows because I love it so very, very much, but S6 is definitely feeling a little OFF right now for me.
Oops, I didn't even know Gloria Steinem was a real person.
And I had no idea she was 80!
I didn't enjoy the season opener quite as much as I normally enjoy the show, but it's been back on form for me since.
A little wary of the state's attorney thing though..
"Well, he's been having an affair with a married Palestinian man who also does barebacked gay porn under the name Phil."
*DEAD*
Well, f*** what I said last week, that episode was KILLER.
this show is just getting stronger. BEST drama on network TV still!
It really was such a great episode. It's refreshing to have one every so often where they aren't in court on a case and the focus is shifted elsewhere.
what an amazing episode.
light and shade, stellar performance from Juliana too.
tv just doesn't get better than this
I think my favourite bit of the whole thing was ''Have fun at college Zach'' OUCH, even Grace wouldn't get treatment THAT COLD
i can see both bishop and owen coming back to hurt her later in the season
as per usual with good wife everything is cooking away nicely
She's burning a lot of people, personal and professionally now. It's definitely not going to be a smooth road between now and the season finale (with the campaign being 8 months I'm kind of assuming it will run until the season finale). I did like how the episode kept referring to 'Saint' Alicia, yet every action, conversation and thought showed that actually she is anything BUT. It's refreshing to see a show unafraid to paint the lead character as a moral grey area, although as we know with Alicia morals matter not, unless you betray her/break her trust.
http://tvline.com/2014/10/15/the-good-wife-archie-panjabi-leaving-kalinda-exits-season-6/
I love Kalinda, even though her story hasn't been that good, Archie Panjabi is excellent. A great way to go would be to get her killed by Bishop, but I wish they'd kept it secret like with Will last year.
Oh No!
Well at least she's staying on until the end of the season, the show can't have more than 13-15 episodes left after that. Also wish her all the best with the pilot she'll be headlining.
Would've been gutted for her to leave sooner. I'd say Kalinda has been my overall favourite character on a show with many amazing characters.
I can't say I will feel her loss too acutely, yes she is amazing and been at the centre of so much of the important movements on the show, BUT she has been sorely underused for 2/3 seasons now and really, there's very little else they can do with her.
Watching the promo for next week, Diane and the cockroach *.*
Elsbeth tonight
LIVING for Diane in her various scenes this week. I really hope Christine can bag herself an Emmy at some point because she bats it out of the park every single episode. She just inhabits the role like a glove.
I did find the episode to be a bit of a mixed bag though, Elsbeth was the least good I've ever seen her, loved seeing inside her crazy mind, but it felt a little jarring mid episode and the whole Josh Perotti thing was ridiculous and just felt like a case of bringing back a beloved former character for a bit of excitement. I thought she was imagining him until he spoke in court, that would have made a lot more sense I think, or at least have been more sensible from the point of view of me as a viewer, anyway.
Nice to see Alicia and Peter get the hate out again, and the pic, well, that says everything about why the show is so amazing.
Call Me Maybe <3.
Love that they took a break from all the States Attorney stuff.
Also, moving back into the LG office was a killer move.
Another slightly muddled episode, narratively speaking, but bloody hell did it hit the mark comedy wise.
That sex scene reduced me to tears, it was so ridiculous and disturbing, but also brilliant. As was ''So...call me.......maybe'' and Howard and his ''My presence and I shall be our in my office if you need me'' *.*
ENOUGH with trying to make Grace Florrick happen though. Nobody gives a f*** and certainly not when she's trying to bring G-O-D into it all the bloody time. GET A NEW HOBBY LOVE.
i loved elspeth's last line to the 'in your opinion' judge and alicia entering will's old office had me in tears
two contrasting examples of how emotive and punchy this programme is
good god i love it so much
I wasn't a fan of Elsbeth this time round, even less so when Josh was involved. Shame as I've loved her in the past but her couple of episodes missed the mark for me. Call Me Maybe felt misplaced.
The last two episodes have been much better again. Although I was apprehensive about the States Attorney story when it was introduced I am really enjoying how it's progressing right now.
I laughed out loud at the incredible shade Christine was throwing with two little eye rolls. She was great in those scenes.
Brilliant episode again. They're really leading into a pretty unpleasant end to Kalinda though aren't they? It's still hands down the best show on TV.
OMG OMG OMG I want to know what Diane EATS/DRINKS to become to utterly fabulous
bottle it and feed it to me FOR LIFE PLEASE
Elsbeth is best in small doses. Having a few episodes dedicated to her was overkill really.
Kalinda has some serious balls to take THAT to Bishop! I don't actually think she's going to die now, that would seem too obvious. I think she has an out and might use that as a means of framing him for killing her to take him down to avenge Cary.
Also, LOVING the rest of the episode too. Especially the whole letter thing, which was just the right shade of ridiculous and for once I didn't HATE Grace, even if it was all entirely her fault for being a far too naive/trusting fool.
i found the whole letter storyline a little too slapstick and not quite right. would anyone ever, really, jokingly write a letter like that? too implausible and mildly unnerving tbh
i agree kalinda dying would seem too obvious but only to someone who is aware of her exit? to the casual viewer who has watched her since the beginning it would be a shock but idk, there is such a way to go yet.
i've loved having so many episodes in a row. truly spoilt in autumn, before we head into PATCHY SPORADIC rest of time ;(
I'm not exactly sure how I want Kalinda to leave the show, I agree as a avid fan of the show that's seen every episode I don't want to see her get killed off.. but I also don't want to see her just walk off either.
Clearly her leaving somehow will save Cary. Perhaps she will kill Bishop and goto jail herself? Who knows. It better be big. Kalinda deserves the best.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Sure, Cary pleaded Guilty and took the plea deal, but this hasn't been accepted yet. There's still a way to save him and will undoubtedly Kalinda will play a part.
I don't know why...but I think they gonna kill her... :/ Bishop (his people) come to mind of course...
OH MAN
tho wtf at that ending? juliana can be the worst actress at times.
That kiss at the end was so random. I knew they were going to make them a storyline, but still. DON'T BE SO PREDICTABLE.
I actually loved the last episode...
dunno about her and her campaign manager though...
Oh I'm fairly certain that kiss was nothing. Alicia is always buttoned down and repressing her true feelings (see Finn, Will before) and she was on a total high right then with Cary going free and nailing Peter in the debate prep so she just thought f*** it, I'm going to do something crazy. I think that's exactly why it was him, he's not someone she has any feelings for, so it was easy. Had it been Finn there she might not have done it because that would have been a THING for her, even an admission of real feelings, which she obv doesn't want to/can't do.
Anyway, what a great, pacey episodes to return on. Almost everyone was doing amazing work, Matt really sold the broken/defeated Cary and Kalinda actually had a chance to do some actual acting for a change, even if she still only exists to service the important moments of others.
I, too, thought the kiss was nothing. That acting, though...
I wasn't really interested in the debate and it looked as if Peter and Finn were there just to have them in the episode. Cary's boobs Kalinda clearly outshone them all.
LIVING for her ever more now *.*
I've started this on Netflix *.* Fab so far. Diane is everything.
ugh why does this have to be on a break again i NEED
Diane's laugh at the end of 1x11 is one of the BEST things ever oh my god!
