Wow amazing! The best song Ireland has sent in years and years.

A poor running order, a ludicrous international jury 12, and Bambie still thumped the competition *.*

I liked Bambie Thug's song a lot, it was easily the best of the six, I'm so pleased it will represent Ireland.

My full ranking:

1st Doomsday Blue
2nd Go Tobann
3rd Let Me Be The Fire
4th Love Me Like I Do
5th Judas
6th Love Like Us

Wow i was sure Bambie would be to different to get picked but I'm so happy she won, by far the best song and I'm excited as I really think she will qualify.
I expected the national jury to rank it lower and international jury to give it 12 so that was a surprise, how the national jury gave love like us 12 is beyond me but thankfully it didn't cost Bambie the win.
Arthur was by far the best on the panel andcwas the most realistic with opinions.
Bambie is so different for Ireland so fingers crossed it can do well.

Bambie Thug is also the first openly non-binary artist to represent a country in Eurovision (though both Roxen and Montaigne came out after Eurovision).

(Also a reminder to use they/them pronouns for Bambie Thug please thank you x happy.gif )

So, what may scupper this is if we end up in the same semi as Slovenia and we certainly don't want to be in the first half if that does happen.

The entry is more performance and staged based for me rather than the song itself. It's not a song that I can see myself listening to over and over again but I think it can stand out through the sheer wackiness element which is something Ireland doesn't do at Eurovision so it's a welcome change and interested to see how it will be received. Ireland can't be accused of playing it safe this year.

It was wackiness that captivated me when watching it.
For me I loved Brooks thats rich entry 2 years ago and thought she really deserved to qualify but there is no doubt Bambie Thug has the potential to stand out more and be remembered on the night and hopefully they nail the staging.

Horrendous song with great staging, will be an ESC fan favourite but will falter with votes IMO.

Even if this doesn’t qualify I think this is a really positive step forward for a country that has been as uninspired as Ireland for the virtually entire 21st century bar one or two songs! I hope the voters remember this in the coming years rather than going back to dull pop and bloody boy bands. Great entry!

A song with such clear artistic vision and that grabs one's attention throughout its 3 minutes shouldn't be at any risk of not qualifying - the most recent ESC analogs that fit the winner's reprise I saw on Eurosong last night and would surely only be better on a bigger stage would be Shum and In Corpore Sano. You can't look away even if you don't like it, and if you do this is absolutely the sort of song you get up off the sofa to vote for.

I know Ireland has a poor record lately but I have enough faith in the Eurovision audience (and juries, this is clearly going to do at least decently with them too) to put this through a semi - even if it's somewhere near Slovenia I think it'd compare very favourably with it. I know everyone will be scared for it (as am I, I don't want to think about a world where this gets left in the semis) but I also don't see much risk of that, experimental entries that fail are esoteric and wrapped up in themselves, this is more on the captivating side of things.

i also said top 10 at the start of this thread, I'm still standing by that but I won't go too hard on predicting it until I see more of the field and/or it makes it through the semi-final to prove me right.

With so much discussion about the lack of diversity among the jury members at last year's Final, maybe the EBU will do something about that issue and that may benefit Ireland too, with this entry.

I don’t even think it’s competing with Slovenia to be honest, it’s much more experimental. That’s what worries me with qualifying, the semi is only televote and I’m not 100% that this will grab voters across Europe. I think it could go either way to be fair, if it catches on I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in a fairly big way.
