Should be a decent semi draw for me this time (famous last words) with a slice of 90s alt/trip hop from us

Semi Final 1? nooooo so so close to completing an entire year in the same semi! Thelonia getting a combo breaker as well! But the randomiser does at least continue the quirk of putting FARC as the first song in their semi yet again the way i was going to send that residents song next month… that, maruja and 8485 NEED to qualify hope yous enjoy my song, a bit less deranged than normal despite the artist title combination 🥰 We love to see the early hype! I know uhsting has charted it too and Doctor Blind has charted another of their songs so not my most obscure artist choice. (I had actually vaguely considered sending The Residents before as well funnily enough - I discovered their album binging through the YouTube channel Cactus Malpractice a few months back, in a series titled 'Worst Album of All Time' lmao but the coverage of this particular album was mostly positive xx that album and this song in particular is really quite something based on the clips played in that video). Maruja is another YouTube discovery for me courtesy of the Melon (and it was also recommended on a monthly song roundup from another channel I'm subbed to so it was a sign), since discovered their EP from earlier this year is also the current #1 EP of the year on Rate Your Music although being highly rated on RYM didn't do my last entry any favours ddd. I hope this one will stand out a lot more though - for how much I stan post-punk I don't send it nearly often enough, this song also mixing in elements of post-rock, jazz and a little bit of breakbeat along with some pretty epic poetic spoken word vocals (no one knows what it means, but it's provocative). Reminds me a lot of some of black midi's wordier / more manic songs. The other song I was considering sending from them was this one from the aforementioned EP which is a lot more direct, louder/more intense (with more IDLES-esque vocals) and more post-rock oriented, but on repeated listens I found that I have to be in a certain mood to fully connect with this one while 'One Hand Behind The Devil' is more ~versatile~, still think this is another excellent song anyway though: Anyway, rambling about my own entry aside, there are 2 songs I can already hype from my semi - I think Roba has had 'The Beginning Of The End' as a potential for a while? Great to see that finally being sent *.* and Thelonia's entry is a right throwback to early 2010s nighttime Radio 1, not heard for yonks so will be good to hear again. I am also already aware of 'Planet Of The Bass' as well as The Residents as aforementioned x Will throw out a bit of early appreciation from the other semi to Cadelicia and Harmonica too. The former was a bit cheeky sending a song that was a UK top 100 hit as recently as last year but sneaking in as its virality was fairly short lived and it never seemed to attract masses of attention on here (maybe telling that no one has posted about it in this thread yet!) I also only know the original of the Annie song - that's the one that was a surprise last minute double confirmation, very odd that 2 people gravitated to a pretty under the radar 2 year old remix! (also FSR Rontvia's entry looks like it'll be 11/10) |

I’ve had Olivia Lunny on the back-burner for the best part of 6 months so I’m happy to see them being entered. I am pleased that I changed up to a pop artist some here will at least recognise, and surprisingly nobody has entered before. I hope it can break my DNQ streak this month! |

Anyways, I hope my 2 minute entry 'No Cover' by Catnapp will make enough impression to qualify at least.
It's all about the production with a big punch and hopefully ya'll find it interesting as much as I do <3 |

I've not listened yet but I am very much pro short songs, sometimes two minutes is all you need, it's better to be left wanting more rather than wishing it ended sooner

No clue how what my draw is like tbh because I'm not sure who exactly would be into semi-vulgar female rap by a slightly famous stripper. But I'm hopeful that it's catchy hook and short length will get it stuck into people's heads!

Not super confident this contest, would’ve actually sent Altyr’s song I think, had i not been like 24 hours late to confirming but adore the song I’ve sent. I see a few names in the semi that I hope should like it.
Also hype to Ryan. I’m in a semi where two of the songs are in my current personal chart top 10 so we’re starting strong! |

Are the Spodic songs notably longer than say, Scotland 2s?
