Anyone upgraded their iPhones this year? I have been making do with a 12 pro for some time now but considering a change and wondered if the newly launched iPhone 15 will be a big step up having skipped the last couple of years models. Any thoughts on this year’s model that was announced this week?

I got the 14 pro so I have no need to update but my battery is already down to 80% health 👀
The dynamic Island thing is my favourite of the recent changes. It’s so useful, I love it |

Settings -> Battery -> Battery Health & Charging
I have it on my 11 so you’ll have it. Made a typo earlier, I’m on 89% not 80%. Thank god. But still a little lower than I expected after a year |

Ah ok thanks Phil, yeah mine says 90% so that’s ok I guess. I’m not definitely upgrading this year, just a consideration having not had a new phone in a while. I don’t anticipate iPhones will be radically different in the future unless some new breakthrough technology becomes available.
I wonder how many years we will have 5G before that gets upgraded too. |

Developments in camera quality seem to be the main differences these days. I’ve got a 13 Max Pro and, short of any genuinely essential new development, I’ll be sticking with that until I start to think that my photos are significantly worse than Mr D’s - he upgrades every year near enough as part of one of those rental deals where as I just outright buy mine from apple and stick to a low cost sim only package.

90% after three years is really good Wardy! I have a sneaking suspicion it might be because I wirelessly charge but I’m also just a super heavy phone user as well 😅
Yeah, I agree Dandy. It’s mostly the camera that really improves. I went from an 11 to a 14 Pro and really noticed the upgrade. My phone and plan are on separate contracts this time so I’m in a similar situation as you Dandy. I think I’ll probably upgrade to the 17 unless the 16 is super compelling. I’d hold onto this longer but I expect in 2 years time the battery will be total trash so won’t really have another choice |

I’ve got O2 Switch Up where you can upgrade whenever you want for free, so you can try out new phones whenever etc, so I’m thinking I will just upgrade anyway. I know they’re mostly the same each year but the camera improvements are interesting and I’m shallow and love that new phone feeling.
