It has been revealed the submissions that Dua Lipa has at the GRAMMYs next year. Which ones do you think she has more chances to get a nomination?
• Best New Artist
• "New Rules": Record of the Year, (Song of the Year), Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Music Video
• "Scared To Be Lonely": Record of the Year, (Song of the Year), Best Dance Recording, Best Music Video
• "No Lie": Record of the Year, (Song of the Year), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Music Video
• "My Love": Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Music Video
• Dua Lipa (Deluxe): Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album
(*) The Song of the Year category is in brackets and I assume the reason of this is because she's not listed as a songwriter in any of these songs, so she wouldn't receive the award in case any of them win.
As much I adore her, I very much doubt she'll get any nominations, maybe STBL for dance recording? In an ideal world New Rules would win everything it's eligible for.
The submissions that she got for the GRAMMYs next year have been revealed and they are listed below.
• Best New Artist
• "IDGAF": Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video
• "New Rules" (Live): Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance
• "Electricity": Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Dance Recording, Best Music Video
• "One Kiss": Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Dance Recording, Best Music Video
She's a shoe in for a Best New Artist nomination I would have thought! The competition will be tough though with Cardi and Post Malone also in contention.
I'm not sure about the other categories, maybe "One Kiss" for Best Dance Recording?
Camila Cabello is also ineligible in this category.
So far, there is a list of the artists who are eligible and ineligible in this http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=313854 (the submissions are leaking https://www.goldderby.com/forum/music/2019-grammy-predictions-part-9/) and Dua is listed as one of the front-runners, so she may earn a nomination or (possibly) win, which will be amazing if this happens.
Dua got nommed for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for "Electricity". Her Insta story just after she received the news is everything! ❤ I really think she's got Best New Artist on lock! I hope they ask her to perform
yer surely best new artist is under her belt
I really hope she gets best artist, although I hope things don't go like they did for Meghan after she won! Some day that award is cursed.
She's going to perform at the GRAMMYs with St. Vincent this Sunday. No information about which song(s) they are going to perform yet.
Omg so here for this!
She has won her first GRAMMY award for "Electricity" in the Best Dance Recording category with Silk City.
Icon *.*
GRAMMY WINNER DUA LIPA! *.*
Very shocked and pleased that she managed to take this award, the category wasn't particularly strong but it's still a huge achievement! As much as I'd love her to win Best New Artist too, with the recent track record of winners going straight to a sophomore slump, I wouldn't be too bothered if she loses that one
TWO TIME Grammy winner Dua Lipa, she just got Best New Artist too!! Shame they had to cut her speech off to adverts bc they spent so much time on Diana Ross' upcoming birthday and J-Lo for some reason singing Motown.
Let's just hope she doesn't do an Alessia Cara with the Best New Artist curse now
So proud of her right now!
Can we just talk about how freaking BADASS she looked with St Vincent?
I'm still pissed that they cut her BNA speech though~
yaaaaaaaaas congrats Dua!
The performance with St Vincent was everything! It brought a whole new life into One Kiss and Dua sounded great on Masseduction! They both looked stunning too *.*
I'm so pleased she won Best New Artist too! I hope she gets her second album out sooner rather than later though going by the recent success rate of its winners
Too early to know the submissions of this year, but the campaign has already began with the FYC posters.
Too early to tell yet but I’m potentially seeing Ariana 2020 vibes for Dua at next years GRAMMYs.
I think she’ll get a fair few nominations but end up going home empty handed.
I have high hopes and quite high expectations.
Confirmed submissions so far:
• "Don't Start Now": Song of the Year, Record of the Year
• Future Nostalgia: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album
Interesting to see all of these submissions, although I'm wondering why "Don't Start Now" wasn't submitted to Best Pop Solo Performance too because I think this could have a shot in that category as well. Either way, I actually think she could get nominated in all of these categories, but it's going to be really hard if she could pull a win in any of these, being Best Pop Vocal Album the one I guess she has the most chances to be honest.
As a side note, I admire what Warner is doing to promote her to the GRAMMY voting members. I want one of these flexi-discs.
Not them submitting the worst video of the era (not including the Hallucinate comic) for consideration.
Billboard are predicting Future Nostalgia to get an Album of the Year nomination, and Don't Start Now for Song and Record of the Year! The 3 BIG CATEGORIES
https://www.billboard.com/amp/articles/news/awards/9485791/8-likeliest-grammy-nominees-each-big-four-categories
Nominations announced in 2 hours...hopefully she'll snatch some of the big noms!!!
She got 6 noms in all the big/main categories
Incredible bit of course thoroughly deserved. I hope she wins one of the big categories
So amazing. I didn’t think she’d have a chance to win but looking at all the noms I’m a lot more hopeful that she can pick up at least 1 somewhere.
The new Adele
So happy for her She really deserves this!
So well deserved. I really hope she picks up at least 1 grammy in the big 3 categories.
If there’s one good thing to have come out of 2020 it’s the complete domination of Dua Lipa
The Grammys have been postponed to March
The Grammy's are just around the corner now!
Does anyone know if Dua is still performing? Apparently DaBaby is the only confirmed performer and the Grammys are a week away!
They haven't actually confirmed anyone yet if you look on the official website. It just says coming soon!
It would be very surprising if she didn't perform considering she's up for all the big awards.
Performance confirmed!
I’m not mad AT ALL at a victory lap for Don’t Start Now- its an award show I don’t expect anything else haha!!!
Would love a left-field choice though- Love Again?
Give us Levitating, Physical & DSN medley pls
DSN will surely be thrown in. Imagine showing up and not performing the song that's nominated for the 2 big awards!
DSN transitioning to Love Again is something I can already hear it in my head
I'm also imagining a medley of "Don't Start Now" and "Love Again", but I think the former is a certain choice.
I can imagine Dua starting with Break My Heart, then going into a bit of Levitating before the grand finale of Don't Start Now.
Some Physical recognition would be amazing though. Surely it deserves US single status at some point!
CBS Interview:
The Guardian, Forbes and Gold Derby all predicting Don't Start Now to win ROTY
yes DSN is going to win one or two grammies...I just wish panel will have some balls and pick FN album of the year as well!!!
I try not to take these sites into too much meaning - they pretty much, across the board, expected The Weeknd to sweep this years Grammy's and he didn't get nominated.
I'm hoping & praying she can take the ones for Don't Start Now cos I do still feel Taylor has the album ones sorted.
yeah i’m fairly sure it’s Taylor’s for AOTY even if I prefer both Dua’s and HAIM’s records but I expect Dua to pick up one of her noms for DSN
(watch her only get the win for Un Dia)
Dua and DaBaby are going to perform "Levitating" together for the first time.
Trevor Noah said she was rehearsing Don't Start Now.
We have a medley coming!!
Omg pray for AOTY guys I'm shaking
Andrew Watt just beat Jack Antonoff to Producer Of The Year. I'd say this bodes very well for Dua picking up some tonight.
Don't Start Now is coming for its rightful Grammy!!!
I'm watching her perform Levitating right now.
She looked AMAZING, so so good!
The performance felt kinda low budget but then so is the whole ceremony tonight so far lmao? So I'm not blaming her, I feel like all of the artists have had to scale back compared to the usual, for sure. She was serving me HAIROGRAPHY and CHOREOGRAPHY though.
She betta WERK her way to some awards now pls x
Her medley performance of "Levitating" and "Don't Start Now" was incredible. She totally killed it and the choreo was impeccable as well.
Harry just beat her in Pop Solo Performance
I'm happy as long as she wins ONE.
I'm just scared of her getting snubbed altogether after six nominations.
'I Can't Breathe' just beat her in Song Of The Year.
...now I panic.
I soo worried for Taylor Dua wtaf 😭😭😭
song of the year is an award for songwriters so I’m not too surprised DSN didn’t win as it’s not the most complex song in the line-up, writing wise
Dua just won!
SHE WON POP VOCAL ALBUM!!!!!!
YEEEEEEESASS OMFG
YESSSS WE LOVE OUR 3 TIME GRAMMY WINNING QUEEN
Best Pop Vocal Album.
Folklore won Album Of The Year, which is no surprise, just glad Future Nostalgia got the Pop Vocal nod at least <3
Everything I Wanted wins Record Of The Year.
Just the one win for Dua but NOT EMPTY HANDED <3
These are her ROTY interview (the one which was shown before her performance) and her speech after she won Best Pop Vocal Album with Future Nostalgia.
I'm relieved she got something, but for an era this incredible and successful it felt very under awarded - I was really hoping for one of the big 3 she was up for
The Grammy 👏 Award winning album 👏 Future Nostalgia 👏
So proud of our pop princess ! She truly radiated on that stage looking more stunning than ever before! 💅
The Levitating segment was a OK but she really snapped for Don't Start Now wow! That choreo was ON POINT and I'm so glad we got to see it close up in full without the cameras constantly panning out all the time!
congrats to Dua for adding another Grammy to her records
and currently in US she's benefitted the most on iTunes with DSN #2, Levitating #5 & 31, New Rules #48 while her newest single We're Good at #55
I am wondering if we will see a surge on her album sales next week as well...it would be nice if she could reach a new peak for the album in Top 3!!!
And I have a feeling for tomorrow update on Spotify, Levitating might go back in Top 10 as well
oh and her Grammy performance is trending currently #3 on YT, it has the highest views than any other performance of the night
EDIT:
Upon looking back, it seems like the majority haven't uploaded their performances yet but great viewing numbers for Dua regardless!!!
The grammy performance is most viewed video in last 24 hours on YouTube
Already at 12+ million views!!!
The views and comments are insane! Definitely the most exposure she's had since New Rules!
Even Real Groove is charting on US iTunes
These looks
This gif! Omg HELP!
Grammys performance is STILL trending, now up to 18 million views!
20 millions views on YouTube and still trending!
Ridiculous that they've blocked the performance on YouTube outside the US! Here it is for those of us who watch it on daily basis like me!
(Not sure for how long it will be up for, so watch while you still can!)
These are the GRAMMY submissions.
• "Love Again": Best Music Video
• Studio 2054: Best Music Film
No Levitating submissions?!
that's understandable...if only none of the Dababy shenanigans happened I think it would have stand a chance for either ROTY and SOTY award!!!
That's for sure. Before the unfortunate comments from DaBaby, "Levitating" was in the running to be submitted (and, possibly, to be nominated) in the Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance categories.
Poor We're Good not even getting submitted
There isn't a Grammy for 'worst song' for it to be submitted for
(I'll get my coat)
Did Dua get any nominations? What a mess
prisoner deserved
Fever deserved Bilingual Record of the Year
Dua is performing at the GRAMMYs this year.
wow that was fabolous...like seriously I'm so proud of her how far she came and how comfortable she is now owning the stage
Amazing!!!
I hope Houdini gets a nice little boost out of this!!!
A boost is surely incoming.
The performance was amazing
Performance has finally been uploaded to Dua's YouTube
One of the best performances of that night.
So good
Goodness me now her Houdini choreography is all over my TikTok The ICON she is *.*
it's showing on my feed a lot as well, I just wish it will translate to more streaming!!!
