The OCC would probably rather Eminem get the no1 as it would make more of a big 'news' story for them as he's a legendary artist on the chart. The average person won't know who Roddy is yet. Going by that logic they’d have given Mariah her rightful #1 over Ava Max, but they didn’t which leads me to believe they would much rather older acts just didn’t bother |

but I wouldn't call it fake data either, it'snot the real data but it's an estimate,it's not that they make it up inaccurate (probably by little) but not fake as in made-up Still bitter about that week they did Mariah out of #1 by like 150 sales. They clearly did fake it that week |

Then why did they underestimate Mariah’s streams and what’s to stop them from doing it again? They don't estimate the stream numbers to rig the charts, they do it because the streaming services don't report their data quickly enough. There's no reason to suspect they're ever going out of their way to underestimate songs on purpose. |

If there’s spotify data, Apple Music data missing then The Box will be #1, I’m guessing by around 400 copies. it’s ahead on both platforms!

Out of interest, if Roddy Ricch gets number 1 instead does anyone know when was the last time a track that hadn't led in any of the midweek charts ended up as the number 1 track for the week? For a week with a Thursday update, I think it was Funky Friday in Oct 2018 |

...also for Old Town Road's last week at #2, the only midweek updates were on Monday and Wednesday, but I Don't Care was behind it on both.

^ I agree. Plus the OCC do still get the Thursday streaming data and will probably use to it to constantly fine tune how they estimate Thursday streams. And the record companies will also receive the data. Therefore, they would be able to see whether there is any evidence that the OCC have manipulated their estimates to achieve a particular result. If they lose faith in the OCC, they won't fund it any more. |

What are shipped to stores will count towards certifications though, ie silver, gold and platinum, if and when record companies apply for them. Certifications are purely based on sales figures and they're automatic! It's been years since they were based on shipments. |

I laugh if Roddy Ricch beats Eminem by 1 sales unit tomorrow. I won't - it'll still be a rap #1 either way. I wouldn’t be surprised given the OCC’s ageism, it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve rigged the charts in favour of a younger artist Ageism doesn't apply to urban artists. |
