A new reboot of "Stars in Their Eyes" will reportedly replace The X Factor this year - but this time with added judges so will presumably be more of a competition.

This is the sort of thing I'd love to see Rylan host!

Loved this back when it was originally on (with Cat Deeley) - I lived for the times anyone would do Kylie (Adele Silva is still iconic *.*). laugh.gif Hopefully it does well and gives ITV a reason to rest The X Factor for longer than just a year.

I will stand by the Harry Hill series, I loved it laugh.gif

But it clearly wasn't right for the show, and then fans didn't want a pisstake

Bring back Matthew Kelly cool.gif Tonight Matthew I'm gonna be... Rod Stewart biggrin.gif

Harry Hill's version was bad.

I think Paddy McGuinness could be a good replacement, since Take Me Out has been shelved.

Would have been better to have a new format instead. The addition of a judging panel just highlights they’re not really realising people are moving away from the judging format. The Masked Singer worked partially because the focus of the panel was more assessing who the celebrity was.

tbh i was hoping for more of a Saturday Night Takeaway entertainment format

It will be interesting to see if we get any younger musicians represented

I hope we do, not just the same old Elvis, Patsy Cline, etc etc. Auditions start next month apparently, depending on any lockdown with recordings starting in July for an October start.

I would expect there would be quite a few female artists being represented. Adele and Amy Winehouse being the obvious ones. But also the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Cheryl, Rita Ora etc.

Great news! Hopefully it's more of a continuation of the original format and no one remembers the Harry Hill flop. kink.gif Also hoping for a more original host than the usual Holly, Philip, Stephen conveyor belt. I wouldn't mind Joel Dommett since he was great on TMS and is a bit of eye candy. laugh.gif

From the "newer" artists I can see Adele, Amy, Bruno, Ed and Lady Gaga being impersonated.

Jane McDonald would be a good choice now she's gone from Channel 5!

Some updates on this!

-It's titled "Starstuck" and appears to be its own thing inspired by "Stars In Their Eyes" rather than a straight reboot of that.
-Sheridan Smith has been confirmed as the first judge
-Filming is set to begin in May next year, so I can see it being in the "X Factor" slot next year like it was supposed to be this year.

This from a supposed insider on Bother's Bar is brilliant laugh.gif

ITV’s Starstruck has been reported as a reboot of Stars In Their Eyes. Technically it isn’t, despite coming from the same production group as the Harry Hill version. But it is. They’ve added some more direct competitive elements and a judging panel, but it’s punters transforming into tribute acts of their favourite artists. However, if you make the comparison in front of the MD of the production company, he gets very irate…

The judges are Beverley Knight, Sheridan Smith and Adam Lambert, I definitely wasn't expecting Adam to get involved in this sort of thing! A great booking for them.
