It's happening! Not sure what to expect from this, but alas.
The Mirror are reporting it will be aired during the usual BGT May week, so with it being stripped I guess it won't overstay its welcome. Joel, Mo, Davina and Jonathan are all returning - Rita will be replaced by Oti Mabuse as she is currently filming The Voice Australia. |

I've been watching bits of the US version to see what it's like, and interestingly after each performance they say a single world in their actual voices - and there is more emphasis on the clue packages

I am absolutely obsessed with the Masked Singer because I'm a big music fan and love the vocal performances/guessing the singer from the voice - but I have watched a couple of episodes of the Masked Dancer (US version) and that's not something that tickles my fancy at all tbh so I won't be watching unfortunately (the dancing is obviously not something they have time to rehearse like in DWTS/Strictly so it all looks quite shoddy to me).

It sounds definitely more clue based rather than their dancing. At least when they’re singing you can recognise their voice sometimes through the filter or understand an accent etc. I mean I guess it’s possible to be like “Ohhh that’s John Barrowmans signature twirl only he can do that it must be him” but I don’t really get it

This has now been officially commissioned, 7 x 90 - set to air 'late Spring' (so indeed sounds like the usual BGT week in May as speculated) QUOTE Hot on the heels of hit show The Masked Singer comes The Masked Dancer. This new 7 x 90 series, produced by Bandicoot Scotland, will see celebrity contestants perform unique dances, whilst covered from head to toe in extravagant, colourful costumes and masks, leaving the viewers and star panel to guess their identities. The Masked Dancer will air late Spring on ITV and the ITV Hub.
Bringing a wealth of dance expertise to the panel, Oti Mabuse will be taking up a seat alongside Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall as they all watch closely to see who knows their sashays from their pliés. Hosting this most unusual of dance parties will be Joel Dommett. The new format will feature 12 celebrities stepping onto the dancefloor to take on character alter egos as they trip the light fantastic in a bid to wow the panel and confuse with their moves. Clue packages will accompany every Masked Dancer to help the panel and at home detectives crack the case of who the famous faces behind the masks are. From ballet to ballroom, salsa to swing and everything in between, the mystery line up will be dancing onto screens this Spring. |

It looks really fun, I haven't seen Oti before but she looks like she will be good fun on the panel. It is a shame not to have Rita as I'm a fan of hers but still this looks good
When I first saw the thread title I just thought wtf but after seeing the trailer I am keen. |

Confirmed to run from Saturday-Saturday, with a night off for football. It's not been officially announced yet, but I'd guess that it begins on May 29th.
