Fourth single from Lover. The track has been serviced to US Top 40/M and Hot AC radios and is impacting the first format now.
YYYYEEEEESSSSS
My favourite song from 'Lover'
GREAT song!
I hope we still get 'Cruel Summer' too.
The best choice for single treatment.
Push Cruel Summer in the summer and let The Man be a smash into the spring of 2020.
This has great video potential too!
I don't think Taylor is for me anymore All her music sounds too commercial pop and trite for me. The last song I properly liked was Delicate and the last album was Red!!
Remix features Cardi B
omg *.*
I think a remix/feature would be the only way it would be a big hit as much as I like the song as so many post album singles struggle now, so I'm not really against it.
I’m fully against anything with Cardi B, even if Girls and Girl Like You are bops.
Cardi B is just a rumour right and not official? (ik its stemmed from Cardi following Taylor like yesterday but was wondering if there's been anymore confirmation?)
Anyway perfect single choice and hope this smashes <3
I feel like she would've performed this at the Grammys tonight
PLEASE tell me Cardi B won't feature on this. I can't deal with that.
I’m here for a Cardi feature.
Anyone who isn’t serial song ruiner of the millennium Nicki Pls.
I think Cardi would be great on song that has such a fun and lighthearted tone to it
Lmao y'alls cardi's hate
What songs has cardi ruined tho. I can argue about Girls and that tothiana song but other than that I am lowkey at a loss.
Y'all are already against this just because it's cardi and you hate the girl as a person lmao
I’m not huge fans of either but Cardi is a lot better than Nicki both as a person and artist.
Nickis voice just goes right through me. I can’t bare it. She’s not pleasant to listen too but her personality and mentality is literally like a toddlers. She only cares about accolades and success and kicks off anytime something doesn’t go her way. I can sort of see her appeal in a way though from a non fans perspective.
I never said Cardi ruined any songs? where did that accusation come from? I actually like her on Dinero, Finesse and Taki Taki and said I wasn't against her being a feature.
To say Nicki is "a lot " better than Cardi is laughable quite frankly. I can accept you may prefer her or whatever but Nicki has written all of her songs, has immeasurable talent in her craft and really helped to set the standard for female rap, putting it back on the map. Without Nicki, there would be no Cardi.
As people, they both are really quite poor role models lately. Cardi is no golden saint, just do a quick Google search on her past and you'll see
I misread, apologies.
I still wonder what makes people be against a feature from the get go though. I have been against features plenty of time but more often than not, these hoes prove me wrong
(Most recently Nicki on Woman Like Me)
can we have someone else instead? Lizzo would be great tbh
Could ironically a Male rapper end up being a potential remix rapper, it worked for LM on Power their female empowerment track
Will probably end up being an Ed Sheeran rap verse tacked on.
no way it'a gonna be ed sheeran, that would backfire on both
lyric vid tomorrow midday US!
we getting a live version from her Paris performance tonight
but are we sure we're getting a new version with a feature?
nope, that's all just fan speculation atm
Just hoping so much that Cardiovascular Bronchitis won't be on it.
I wonder when/if she'll start pushing this properly. I think it needs a feature or a really great video to make any impact
I feel the video could come on International Woman's Day (8th March)
I hope taking it slowly pays off this time round worldwide, a bit like it did for Delicate in the US (tho with everything acc impacting at the same time this round). And that the video is released at the right time (I still can't at Lover's xmas video dropping in August )
Anyway I'm prepared for another clusterf*** of a single management cos that's how everything has been since LWYMMD (& low-key Me but that song was f***ed despite how much promotion/support it was gonna get)
if you mean Me was terrible and never should have been the lead, 100% agree will never ever understand how they didn't peak Cruel Summer
as lead for this album, was perfect, and it was even summer
I really think they need a feature, if they did it for Bad Blood, they could repeat the trick, with a woman feature this time and could be amazing (Lizzo please!!!!)
Cruel Summer (August 2019)
Lover (November 2019)
The Man (March 2020)
I'm surprised they decided to move things around instead of the usual August lead single release — Cruel Summer was right there and screaming to be released.
omg video on Thursday!!! I was def not expecting it that soon aha
it's out midday our time ahh
And definitely no feature from Cardiovascular Bronchitis??
The video is clever/good but I have a huge feeling this will do absolutely nothing
I dunno if it's coz I expected the absolute worst, but I actually really liked the video!
I love the video and I love the fact that there's no collaboration for the single version. The Man is the strongest with Taylor on her own.
I agree that the song is great on its own, but I feel like this could’ve been the chance to have a feature and not make it look too desperate that she was trying to get a hit
Having a version with 2 or 3 other female artists would’ve been a good statement and helped tbis become a hit, I don’t think it will know unless it gets good airplay in the US
great video, hope this is really pushed on Spotify but kinda doubt it
her Spotify deal seems to be only with the lead single
Love the video!!
What's happening with this? I've been expecting to see it on some playlists by now.
[/late] but this is a really great music video and it's helped the song to click with me a lot more than it did before (it had already grown on me a bit over time but I've gone from straight up disliking it when I first heard it to it now being probably my 4th favourite song on the album, quite a turnaround x)
I don't expect this to become much of a hit though, post-album hits just almost never happen any more unless your name is Ed Sheeran. At least it managed to re-enter the top 100.
problem is The Man is not being added to any Spotify playlists, HH still has Only the Young!!! It's a pity cos it's her best song since Blank Space
what I don't get is why the video isn't more popular? It debuted at #9 on the Video Streaming top 100 but on week 2 it big dropped to #45 already
when Girls Like You come out it was #1 on YT for ages, I was expecting a similar performance x The Man video, but nothing so far, can't believe the little effect it's having and how the GP are totally ignoring it
oh and agree a sequence of Cruel Summer as lead single in early summer, followed by The Man before the album and then Lover as Xmas single would have been perfect
this has been pulled from US radio so its the end of this as a single as of last week.
Adore the song. there's a reason I never bothered to comment on the video.
I was just thinking this might mark the end of the era unless the tour ends up happening. It started a year ago this weekend so at least we got a year out of it!
Of course Cruel Summer is begging for a summer single push but I won't get my hopes up
It’s a post album single, it’ll flop even if it’s the second coming of Shake It Off there’s SO much good stuff on this album that the GP needs to hear!
Although when the album was released quite a few of my friends, none of whom are Taylor stans I don’t think bopped to this song but I’ve heard nothing about it since the video, so maybe it doesn’t really matter these days idk. I Forgot You Existed was the other one people seemed to know *_____*
I'm hoping that the video gets a VMA!
same! I feel she has video for good locked, she's up against no other artists with big fanbases in that category!
This deserved more awards.
