Posted by: Juan Carlos 24th January 2020, 10:09 PM

Fourth single from Lover. The track has been serviced to US Top 40/M and Hot AC radios and is impacting the first format now.

My favourite song from 'Lover' wub.gif

GREAT song!

I hope we still get 'Cruel Summer' too.

Posted by: SamJudd 25th January 2020, 06:45 PM

Fantastic choice as it has charted strongly on downloads & so glad we're finally getting another single from this era. Fingers crossed that 'Cruel Summer' followed by 'Miss Havana & The Heartbreak Prince' will be the next singles.

I'd really like Cruel Summer as a single, I hope it'll happen. Miss Americana* ( kink.gif ) & The Heartbreak Prince is another favourite of mine but I'm not sure whether it's best left as an album gem rather than getting single treatment.

The Man is a great choice by the way, ideally it would have been a single towards the beginning of the campaign, but at least it'll have its moment now.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 26th January 2020, 01:06 AM

The best choice for single treatment.

Push Cruel Summer in the summer and let The Man be a smash into the spring of 2020.

This has great video potential too!

I don't think Taylor is for me anymore laugh.gif All her music sounds too commercial pop and trite for me. The last song I properly liked was Delicate and the last album was Red!!

Remix features Cardi B

Posted by: JosephStyles 26th January 2020, 07:03 PM

omg *.*

Posted by: Jack 26th January 2020, 07:08 PM

I think a remix/feature would be the only way it would be a big hit as much as I like the song as so many post album singles struggle now, so I'm not really against it.

Literally her worst two features ...

Posted by: Beautiful Ghosts 26th January 2020, 08:14 PM

Cardi B is just a rumour right and not official? (ik its stemmed from Cardi following Taylor like yesterday but was wondering if there's been anymore confirmation?)

Anyway perfect single choice and hope this smashes <3

I feel like she would've performed this at the Grammys tonight cry.gif

From what I read this was the song she was going to perform! Would've been perfect sad.gif

This was the single choice that I wanted, not hyped about a remix but I'll give it a chance.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 27th January 2020, 02:12 PM

PLEASE tell me Cardi B won't feature on this. I can't deal with that.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 27th January 2020, 03:43 PM

I’m here for a Cardi feature.

Anyone who isn’t serial song ruiner of the millennium Nicki Pls.

I don't mind a remix or feature, I just don't want Cardi. laugh.gif

Literally any other female rapper. ANY. Lol.

… okay hun. To say Nicki is serial song ruiner though, come on, even if you don't like her that's delusional, she has been the best factor of some of the songs she's featured on. Not all of them are amazing, and some of her raps are lazy I'll give you that, but ruin a song? Hardly.

Posted by: *Tim 28th January 2020, 05:09 PM

What songs has cardi ruined tho. I can argue about Girls and that tothiana song but other than that I am lowkey at a loss.

Y'all are already against this just because it's cardi and you hate the girl as a person lmao

Posted by: Jordan Lee 28th January 2020, 06:33 PM

I’m not huge fans of either but Cardi is a lot better than Nicki both as a person and artist.

Nickis voice just goes right through me. I can’t bare it. She’s not pleasant to listen too but her personality and mentality is literally like a toddlers. She only cares about accolades and success and kicks off anytime something doesn’t go her way. I can sort of see her appeal in a way though from a non fans perspective.

Posted by: Jack 28th January 2020, 09:27 PM

I never said Cardi ruined any songs? laugh.gif where did that accusation come from? I actually like her on Dinero, Finesse and Taki Taki and said I wasn't against her being a feature.

To say Nicki is "a lot " better than Cardi is laughable quite frankly. I can accept you may prefer her or whatever but Nicki has written all of her songs, has immeasurable talent in her craft and really helped to set the standard for female rap, putting it back on the map. Without Nicki, there would be no Cardi.

As people, they both are really quite poor role models lately. Cardi is no golden saint, just do a quick Google search on her past and you'll see laugh.gif

Posted by: *Tim 28th January 2020, 10:35 PM

I misread, apologies.

I still wonder what makes people be against a feature from the get go though. I have been against features plenty of time but more often than not, these hoes prove me wrong

(Most recently Nicki on Woman Like Me)

Lizzo would be good, especially considering the lyrical content, I agree! She'd be much more fitting.

Cardi could provide a fun feature though I guess.

Could ironically a Male rapper end up being a potential remix rapper, it worked for LM on Power their female empowerment track

Posted by: Esmerelda 30th January 2020, 10:29 PM

Will probably end up being an Ed Sheeran rap verse tacked on.

no way it'a gonna be ed sheeran, that would backfire on both

Posted by: FUTURE NOSTALGIA 6th February 2020, 11:01 PM

lyric vid tomorrow midday US!

Posted by: FUTURE NOSTALGIA 17th February 2020, 11:07 PM

we getting a live version from her Paris performance tonight

Posted by: Bjork 20th February 2020, 12:34 PM

but are we sure we're getting a new version with a feature?

Posted by: FUTURE NOSTALGIA 20th February 2020, 12:57 PM

nope, that's all just fan speculation atm

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 20th February 2020, 02:06 PM

Just hoping so much that Cardiovascular Bronchitis won't be on it.

Posted by: LMLou 20th February 2020, 02:35 PM

I wonder when/if she'll start pushing this properly. I think it needs a feature or a really great video to make any impact

Posted by: FUTURE NOSTALGIA 20th February 2020, 03:07 PM

I feel the video could come on International Woman's Day (8th March)

I hope taking it slowly pays off this time round worldwide, a bit like it did for Delicate in the US (tho with everything acc impacting at the same time this round). And that the video is released at the right time (I still can't at Lover's xmas video dropping in August sad.gif )

Anyway I'm prepared for another clusterf*** of a single management cos that's how everything has been since LWYMMD (& low-key Me but that song was f***ed despite how much promotion/support it was gonna get)

Posted by: Bjork 21st February 2020, 05:36 AM

if you mean Me was terrible and never should have been the lead, 100% agree biggrin.gif will never ever understand how they didn't peak Cruel Summer
as lead for this album, was perfect, and it was even summer biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I really think they need a feature, if they did it for Bad Blood, they could repeat the trick, with a woman feature this time and could be amazing (Lizzo please!!!!)

Posted by: blacksquare 21st February 2020, 04:45 PM

Cruel Summer (August 2019)
Lover (November 2019)
The Man (March 2020)

I'm surprised they decided to move things around instead of the usual August lead single release — Cruel Summer was right there and screaming to be released.

Posted by: FUTURE NOSTALGIA 25th February 2020, 09:19 PM

omg video on Thursday!!! I was def not expecting it that soon aha

it's out midday our time ahh

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 26th February 2020, 04:04 PM

And definitely no feature from Cardiovascular Bronchitis??

Posted by: Jack 27th February 2020, 06:12 PM

The video is clever/good but I have a huge feeling this will do absolutely nothing sad.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 27th February 2020, 08:32 PM

I dunno if it's coz I expected the absolute worst, but I actually really liked the video!

Posted by: Monzo 28th February 2020, 07:25 AM

I love the video and I love the fact that there's no collaboration for the single version. The Man is the strongest with Taylor on her own.

Posted by: LMLou 28th February 2020, 08:53 AM

I agree that the song is great on its own, but I feel like this could’ve been the chance to have a feature and not make it look too desperate that she was trying to get a hit

Having a version with 2 or 3 other female artists would’ve been a good statement and helped tbis become a hit, I don’t think it will know unless it gets good airplay in the US

With all the publicity about lack of women played in country radio, a country mix with the likes of Kelsea, Maren, Carly and Carrie would’ve been awesome!

great video, hope this is really pushed on Spotify but kinda doubt it
her Spotify deal seems to be only with the lead single

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 28th February 2020, 11:52 PM

Love the video!!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 9th March 2020, 11:00 AM

What's happening with this? I've been expecting to see it on some playlists by now.

Posted by: Bré 12th March 2020, 02:53 PM

[/late] but this is a really great music video and it's helped the song to click with me a lot more than it did before (it had already grown on me a bit over time but I've gone from straight up disliking it when I first heard it to it now being probably my 4th favourite song on the album, quite a turnaround x)

I don't expect this to become much of a hit though, post-album hits just almost never happen any more unless your name is Ed Sheeran. At least it managed to re-enter the top 100.

Posted by: SamJudd 17th March 2020, 01:20 PM

How the era should have went, with the release dates for the first 3 I went with how the original were released & so went with that.

April '19 - Cruel Summer
June '19 - You Need To Calm Down
Aug '19 - The Man
Nov '19 - Lover

My choices then for possible remaining singles =

Early '20 - Cornelia Street
Summer '20 - Paper Rings
Late/Election season '20 - Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince

Posted by: Bjork 17th March 2020, 09:57 PM

problem is The Man is not being added to any Spotify playlists, HH still has Only the Young!!! It's a pity cos it's her best song since Blank Space

what I don't get is why the video isn't more popular? It debuted at #9 on the Video Streaming top 100 but on week 2 it big dropped to #45 already
when Girls Like You come out it was #1 on YT for ages, I was expecting a similar performance x The Man video, but nothing so far, can't believe the little effect it's having and how the GP are totally ignoring it

oh and agree a sequence of Cruel Summer as lead single in early summer, followed by The Man before the album and then Lover as Xmas single would have been perfect

Posted by: Sharon 🍷 26th April 2020, 01:12 AM

this has been pulled from US radio so its the end of this as a single as of last week.

Adore the song. there's a reason I never bothered to comment on the video.

Posted by: Fisher 🐠 26th April 2020, 01:24 AM

I was just thinking this might mark the end of the era unless the tour ends up happening. It started a year ago this weekend so at least we got a year out of it!

Of course Cruel Summer is begging for a summer single push but I won't get my hopes up kink.gif

she's teased Cruel Summer so many times I feel like we'd have to get it as a single ahaha. (though maybe not anymore with the tour delayed/cancelled & the current world situation obvs). I lowkey feel like CS will bomb as a single now anyway and would remain a flop fan-fave single ahaha kink.gif

honestly I'm lowkey ready for new material, she's been writing heavenly a lot recently on comments on social media so I hope that's some hint and we get like a one-off single. watch how now only we get the re-recordings whenever and no new music for ages kink.gif

Posted by: Andrew. 26th April 2020, 01:50 AM

It’s a post album single, it’ll flop even if it’s the second coming of Shake It Off sad.gif there’s SO much good stuff on this album that the GP needs to hear!

Although when the album was released quite a few of my friends, none of whom are Taylor stans I don’t think bopped to this song but I’ve heard nothing about it since the video, so maybe it doesn’t really matter these days idk. I Forgot You Existed was the other one people seemed to know *_____*
