BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Carly Rae Jepsen - It Takes Two (feat. Lil Yachty)

Posted by: mdh Feb 7 2017, 05:40 PM

Carly is releasing a new single for Target on Friday, the song is called It Takes Two and there's a Lil Yachty feature on the song, and it's produced by Mike Will.

Fingers crossed Yachty makes a positive impact to the track like he did on After The Afterparty - this could be very good if it's anything like some of her E-MO-TION stuff wub.gif Lots of hype.

Please can she stick to the RAWM gold *.* ?

The preview sounds HORRIFIC, I have no idea what she is thinking :/ I know it's only a preview but it's dampened any excitement laugh.gif

It samples It Takes Two by Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock (which also gave Black Eyed Peas Rock Your Body and Snoop Dogg's I Wanna Rock their "I wanna rock right now" bits).

I don't think it's the first single, surely not?

It's a cover and it is for an ad campaign as far as I'm aware.

I have high doubts this is actually a single, maybe something for a soundtrack?

Erm

This isn't the first single from her new album.

That's true.

These days, if you're trying to get ahold of Carly Rae Jepsen, she's probably busy working. When she gives EW a progress report on the follow-up to 2015's critically beloved E•MO•TION, she's calling from a quiet corner of a studio in Stockholm, Sweden, taking a quick break from writing and recording. She was also en route to the studio when she got a call asking if she wanted to remake Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock's 1988 hit "It Takes Two" with rapper Lil Yachty and hip-hop producer Mike Will Made-It for a Target-sponsored video directed by Roman Coppola and choreographed by La La Land's Mandy Moore.

Ah good that's what I was hoping, I only saw it on JosepVinaixa and he's a bit funny with labelling things correctly as single, promo track, instant grat etc. laugh.gif

I've tinkered with the topic's OP to reflect the new info!

"Erm" indeed.

Yeah blame JosepVinaixa, the way he worded it (like mentioning the single directly after mentioning the new album) definitely gave off the impression it was a proper first single for the album laugh.gif
