Lady Gaga performs haunting version of 'Bad Romance' at documentary premiere
MOST REVEALING MOMENTS FROM THE DOCUMENTARY
(spoilers) ~~
Relationship with Taylor Kinney
From the first scene of the film, it’s clear that Gaga’s relationship with the Chicago Fire star is on the rocks. “Me and Taylor are fighting, so that sucks,” she says. “My threshold for bulls— with men is just — I don’t have one anymore. In relationships, you have to move together.” Shortly after, Gaga reveals that she’s written a new song: “Million Reasons.”
After they split, the singer breaks down in tears as she alludes to the fact that her growing career might have contributed to the breakup. Gaga and Kinney called it quits shortly after she landed a leading role in Bradley Cooper‘s A Star Is Born.
“My love life has just imploded,” she says. “I sold 10 million [records] and lost Matt. I sold 30 million and lost Luke. I did a movie and lose Taylor. It’s like a turnover. This is the third time I’ve had my heart broken like this.”
But despite the heartbreak, the former couple appear to have remained on good terms. Gaga received a bouquet of flowers from Kinney on the day of her Super Bowl performance. “Nothing like flowers from your ex-fiancé on the day of the Super Bowl,” she says, making light of the situation.
The Madonna Drama
Gaga addresses her relationship with Madonna – which has long been the subject of rumors of drama after the iconic star was quoted saying that the singer’s “Born This Way” single was a rip-off of her 1989 hit “Express Yourself.”
“So the thing with me and Madonna, for example, is that I admired her always,” she tells a friend. “And I still admire her, no matter what she might think of me.”
But the singer did admit that she wishes Madonna would have just spoken to her directly, instead of through the media.
“She wouldn’t look me in the eye and tell me that I was reductive or whatever,” Gaga says, admitting she learned about the diss while watching television. “Telling me you think I’m a piece of s— through the media? It’s like a guy passing me a note through his friend.”

Lady Gaga has revealed she has fibromyalgia, a long-term condition which can cause pain all over the body.
The singer made the announcement on Twitter where she also said the illness features in her latest documentary.
"I wish to help raise awareness and connect people who have it. We can all share what helps/hurts," she tweeted.
Lady Gaga first spoke about living with chronic pain in 2013 but this is the first time she's revealed the cause.

Trailer is here!!
Looks like it could be really eye-opening and it will definitely be interesting to see life from her perspective. I loved the ending too with the old customer
PULL THROUGH QUEEN
Actual goosebumps throughout all of that, wow this is going to be everything. The final scene too :')

"do you have the new lady gaga album" queen of sales

Gah
IT'S OUT
I don't have Netflix anymore, I'll have to find another way watch it
❤
So excited to watch this some point over the next couple of days!
Also I can't find a thread for it, but in other Gaga news A Star Is Born has its release date moved from September 2018 to May 2018!
Omg!!!!! Just finished watching! LOVED IT
When she played her Grandma 'Joanne' I bawled like a baby. What a special moment.
I was really hoping they'd dedicate it to Sonja, glad I wasn't disappointed at the end.
I'm left with so many emotions, what an incredible woman.
GROUNDBREAKING
i started crying at the phone call with sonja before her NYT interview and found it hard to stop after that. just such an incredible, inspiring woman she deserves the whole WORLD
update I just put on PI and I’m crying again
OMG AVOIDING THIS THREAD UNTIL TOMORROW HOPE Y'ALL ENJOUYED IT
literally about to put this on, so excited but prepared to weep
Just watched it. Absolutely incredible. Loved it so much will definitely watch this over and over again!
Started slowly, but really was a worthwhile watch!
I'm literally broken at the line "she had so much talent, but so little time"
Gaga playing her Grandma ‘Joanne’ was emosh ngl.
I'm gonna find time to watch this tomorrow!
Really interested to see how A Star Is Born goes down!
Watching now. I'm a wreck already.
Just finished. I'm a sucker for these tell all documentaries. So good. Such an emotional rollercoaster and it's great to see just how much work she puts into everything. Like, you knew she was a perfectionist and an "all in" girl, but it's amazing to actually see it. Her playing 'Joanne' for her Grandma was so beautiful. </3
She really is one of a kind. People say she "shades" Madonna, but I genuinely don't think it's shade at all. Yeah she says stuff about it, but it's just her interpretation of it. It's nice to hear someone so famous speak so openly about the feud and you actually believe them.
She's very special. We need to take good care of her.
I've just seen her play Joanne for her grandma and dad and I'm weeping. That was too honest a moment to share :'(
As others have said, the moment where she played Joanne was incredible but everything about the song and Joanne herself was heartbreaking at the same time Her grandma must have been so proud <3
This was such a good watch Touching moments throughout, but plenty of laughs and a true representation of what she's like behind the scenes (determined, fearless but also fragile and sensitive). I'm so glad we got this, it's really made the whole Joanne era even more meaningful
SHE'S FAR FROM FLAWLESS BUT MY LORD DOES SHE HAVE A DIAMOND HEART
This was fantastic, and really just solidifies my love for her. I always find it so interesting when people who seemingly have it all are so unhappy.
The album really was a gift to her father, right? It does sound better than ever listening to it since.
So glad that there are people who have watched the doc, Pulse is so quiet!
I love this so much, have watched it 3 times already! My favourite part is probably the Bad Romance performance but I also love how she talks her performances as WE, "We are going to get the Super Bowl" and how she defends her dancers saying they're tired. True queen <3

GAGA'S STREAMING SPIKES AFTER FIVE FOOT TWO
Lady Gaga is enjoying a streaming spike in the wake of the documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two bowing on Netflix.
The film, taking viewers behind the scenes of a year in her life leading up to her Super Bowl LI performance, recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. The Netflix launch, however, has boosted no fewer than 10 tracks.
Spotify reported a 53% increase in Interscope's "Joanne" songstress's streams as of the Monday after Five Foot Two's premiere (9/25). "Joanne" in particular boasted a 365% streaming increase since the Monday prior to the doc's release (9/18). "Hey Girl" had a 259% bump and "Sinner's Prayer" was up 238%. All 10 of the songs reported had at least a 100% increase.
Rewatched this and found it potentially even better second time round. What a feat.
I've watched it 4 times
FINALLY watched this today and was just so stunned by how personal and touching it is. I feel like Gaga is one of the few artists daring enough to open up her entire personal life in a documentary but it has made me appreciate her so much.
I physically started sobbing after she finished playing "Joanne" to her Grandma and it seems that moment touched so many people here on Buzzjack too. It was endearing to see her funny side as well in moments like the Walmart scene :') Overall, this is a very special documentary and I'm glad she shared it with us
I personally found it a little too raw. I think because I am fairly private and I can't think of anything worse than having my troubles/difficult times broadcast on TV I found it a bit cringe to watch at times. The bit where she was playing Joanne for her grandmother I had to actually leave the room, I cannot understand why anyone would want to put their grandmother in that position in front of cameras.
I did find interaction with recording and her dancers interesting to watch though. I am a huge Gaga fan, love her music and think she is so unbelievably talented, but this was too personal for me I wouldn't want to watch it again.
I felt the same about the grandma scene as well, but that was the only one. I think it's because for once it made other people uncomfortable, not just herself, but it was also interesting to watch.
This documentary just needs to win all of the awards really. Absolutely INCREDIBLE.
I really hope it cleans up at the awards but that's probably just wishful thinking!...
Just finished watching - what a fascinating and eye-opening watch! Very emotional at times but plenty of fun, goofy Gaga moments too. I loved watching the scenes of her and Mark recording in the studio; it felt so old-school and authentic, with the music really being at the heart.
I still LIVE FOR the Bad Romance version she sings at Tony Bennett's birthday party.
I NEEED this on DVD.
She won the award for best documentary at the MTV Movie & TV Awards tonight and presented the award for Best Movie. Black Panther won.
Here's her speech for winning the award and her presenting the award for best film: https://twitter.com/MTVAwards/status/1008906377312342016?s=19
Bitch lied, she ain't even five foot two
I just watched this again this afternoon!!
One part she says to Mark Ronson YOU’RE MY FAVOURITE!!
Always notice new things on rewatches of this like at the start she’s just mentioning A Star Is Born has been approved and she’s set to star in it.
And at the end when she’s about to head to do the super bowl she gets flowers from Taylor! Swear that part went right over my head at first.
But such a good watch! The part where she meets her fan and surprises her is
I've watched it like 6 times lol
I'm not sure if it's chronological in the picture but I believe the opening scene is from May/June 2016 because she and Taylor broke up "officially" in July. She was officially announced to star on ASIB in August 2016.
I really need to rewatch this. Flop fan has only watched it once
The scene where she's laid out crying in pain really got to me and I've been reluctant to revisit this ever since Which is a shame because it's an absolutely brilliant piece of work.
I'm intrigued to watch this again today but probably won't until tomorrow or next week. How many times you have watched it? I have maybe 5 or 6.
I am long overdue a watch! Might do so over the Christmas holidays
Ooh yes it's perfect for holidays now that there are not much movies in theatres.
Also adding A Very Gaga Thanksgiving to my list for the holiday season
Sooo... Joanne era turns 5 this autumn - perfect time to revisit this as well as it goes through her songwriting and recording sessions of Joanne. It's still on Netflix!! If you haven't watched it yet, do it now, it's very insightful and good peek of what it's like to be an artist of her calibre.
https://www.netflix.com/fi/title/80196586
I am rewatching this currently and am a mess lmao. It makes the Joanne era make so much sense.
I have watched it so many times that I can still remember how it goes from scene to scene, but maybe I should revisit it again.
This premiered 5 years ago! Who's rewatching this week?
OOH I might!
I watched it last month
It's so painful to watch her battling with the illness and worrying about Sonja
I rewatched it not too long ago and that is the toughest bit to get through the way they shoot the build up to the Superbowl is incredible though
