You know the rules. ONE 11, ONE -1, everything else is up to you. If you rated in the other thread, please rate again here. If you forget to rate and did rate in the other thread I might carry your rate over, but please do rate here just in case. xx Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace xx Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones xx Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith xx Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope xx Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back xx Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi xx Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens I'll leave it open for a couple of weeks so the stragglers who haven't been part of the 1.2 billion dollars in tickets already sold, can rate Force Awakens. And if gives us all some time to re-watch them all if we want, which I'm currently doing. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU |

I've rewatched the first 6 now so very slight different scores from me:
07 Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 06 Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones 08 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith 10 Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope 11 Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back 10 Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi xx Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens ^ oop. Will edit in a score for VII tomorrow I don't think any film is less than a 5/10 so i'll be shocked to see any really low scores for them (especially -1s ). |

Copied from the other thread but:
06 Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (looks pretty and Darth Maul/Liam Neeson make it watchable, shame about Anakin, honestly worse than Jar Jar :/) 04 Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (poor villain, dragging storyline, one enjoyable half hour, Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman...nahhh) 08 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (first one I saw in the cinema, I loved it at the time, on reflection it's a bit flawed and some dragging and underused characters and worlds, but the last battle's great and hell it's the best of the prequels by far) 09 Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (Been SO parodied and overdone these days, but still a lot of love for it) 10 Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (Had real depth and a sense of dread to it, even if that moment had already been parodied to death by the time I saw it) 11 Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (Mainly nostalgia (and the fact Empire will get enough 11s) I must be honest, but it's just SO fun and likable, and the ending gives me the feels. I even liked the ewoks lol) 09 Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (see thread for thoughts~) This post has been edited by Chez Wombat: 31st December 2015, 02:04 PM |

Posting my review of the new one shortly. All of these are 10/10 / 11/10 tbh
10 Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 9.5 Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones 11 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith 10 Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope 9.5 Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back 10 Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi 10 Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Hope all these high scores are ok The newest one was quite close to my 11 but it's new and I might change my mind after a couple more watches III was brilliantly executed with so much action and emotion, seeing everything fall apart and Anakin turning fully Sith was tragic but just so action packed and amazing This post has been edited by Mace Spindu: 30th December 2015, 11:33 PM |

I shall do this! I only have 'Revenge Of the Sith' to watch and I'll have seen them all. Hoping to do so, early next week! By that point I'd have seen Episode VII for the 3rd time so I'll be able to give my real/non-hyped thoughts on that!

06 Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (lots of good ideas, the amazing saber battle, Liam Neeson's death and some great new musical cues, but overall a bit lacklustre and the podrace scene is far too long)
05 Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (the romance is absolutely abysmal, like, the worst thing ever abysmal) 08 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (helped greatly by the fact we know where almost everything is going to end up, so the journey has a much stronger sense of purpose and direction. Plus Order 66/Yoda V Palpatine and the general awesomeness of Palpatine is great) 09 Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (iconic, of course, but bettered by what came after) 09 Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (I'm sorry, but in all good conscious I cannot give this a 10 given Dagobah happened. Without that, perfect). 11 Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (I'm not sorry to say that The Emperor may just be my favourite movie character EVER, the movie is greatly lifted by his insanity and even though there are plot holes and all manner of nonsense I simply do not care. It is by far the most enjoyable of the 7) 08 Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (A very good movie, but lacking in originality a bit and the trademark JJ lack of emotional depth lets the side down a bit). |

I just watched Attack of the Clones and it's pretty bad with the romance, but I can't see how people can rate it below Jar-Jar driven Phantom!

I just watched Attack of the Clones and it's pretty bad with the romance, but I can't see how people can rate it below Jar-Jar driven Phantom! The final lightsaber fight is SO good, it makes up for a lot of that. The set design, the pacing, the pacing of the fight - all superb. Clones doesn't really have anything that compares, except the 'Across the Stars' theme. |

04 Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - Points awarded for Liam Neeson, Ray Park and Keira Knightley only 06 Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones - suffers from having to set up the 3rd film and Christiansen/Portman's 'acting' 07 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith - The only great moment is Vader's slaughter of the children. Disappointing reliance on CGI and iffy ending 10 Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - Full of charm, energy and panache. Has dated far less than the prequels, surprisingly 11 Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back - The only SW film with any kind of depth to it. Also has arguably cinema's greatest ever shock ending 10 Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi - Great finale, solid opening and Palpatine is brilliant but too much like a retread of IV. Oh and Ewoks 09 Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Falls so close to IV it's almost a parody in places. However, great spirit, great cast (especially Ridley), great effects, great ending and a solid set up for VIII. Let down by a weak/too familiar story |

07 Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (an OK film let down by the immense hype, cheesy dialogue, death of a class bad guy and a ridiculously over-complicated plot)
03 Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (worst love story ever, very wooden acting, only saved by the final part of the film) 05 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (Just disappointing, capped with lots of cheesy dialogue and Obi-Wan riding a lizard) 10 Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (My favourite, great storyline and just all round great film) 10 Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (Easily the most emotional investive film of the series. Plus the greatest reveal ever) 08 Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (Great ending, I think at this point the film lets itself down by trying to conclude a trilogy but at the same time, be a major merchandise earner with toys & action figures.. plus Boba Fett's death was pityful) 08 Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (Really great entry to the new series, loved it. Lets itself down for me by it all being very predictable, but it was an insanely hard job and the team would not be able to win whatever film they made) |

The one consistently amazing thing across them all is John Williams. I think the prequel trilogy is lifted a lot by his score (music really does impact my enjoyment of a film A LOT). I mean Duel Of The Fates, Across The Stars and of course the proto-Imperial March are everything.

It was a 10/10 experience, but I don't want the immediate hype of watching it affect my viewpoint and so with the few faults it had, i've downgraded it slightly. Will probably rise to a 10 with repeated viewings but i'm trying to be CONSERVATIVE. |

Added my scores for the prequels,
Phantom is drivel for the most part, Jar Jar makes it too childlike, while the politics make it over complicated, so there's no balance. Positives are that Darth Maul and the final climaxes are really good. Attack of The Clones was a lot more watchable than Phantom, the Ben/Jango rain fight and some of the mass Jedi fighting works really well. But it ultimately it all feels rather pointless. The love story in Revenge of the Sith is still awful. The parts where the two quip about love being blind is so cringe-worthy. But all in all, it really is quite strong compared to the other two. The fall of the Jedi and rise of Palpatine is done so well. The last 50 minutes really are thrilling. |

People often complain about the whole politic dominating in the prequel trilogy but really, it's an important part of the plot that leads to the original trilogy events. It's all about how the Emperor seizes control eventually and uses the clones to destroy most of the jedi. I also think the balance of action e.g. lightsaber duels were done well also!

People say the plot for The Phantom Menace is too complicated but it's actually pretty straightforward. People yawn at Trade Negotiations but that's background stuff, you never have to sit through any of it. The one criticism of the prequels I think is definitely valid is that the love story is pretty crap. However a lot of the characters problems in that trilogy are solved by the Clone Wars TV series that acts as a chance to explore everything there just wasn't enough time to in 7 and a bit hours of film. |
