Sun In Our Eyes is a BOP

Posted by: blacksquare Jul 12 2018, 09:42 PM

This is a nice bop

Just glad we're finally getting an album after all these years!

Sun In Our Eyes is so lush wub.gif

Also what a brilliant album title!

The Sun in Our Eyes video is releasing tomorrow at 2pm!

Feels so bizarre that we're only getting the album now, two years after she had a bit of flash-in-the-pan success.

It’s the classic story of artist has surprise success, label try to spin that into massive mainstream success, fail, and then the artist is stuck in limbo.

This really should be her third album by now but labels never learn.

The "Sun In Our Eyes" music video is out.

She uploaded the album trailer on her YouTube channel. The album will be available for pre-order this Friday.

I reallly hope she gets another hit before then, she deserves one!

Posted by: Jüpiter Sep 5 2018, 09:28 PM

Sun in our Eyes grew on me despite that horrible video where she looks like Ellen DeGeneres. Yes its pop but its not as generic and desperate pop as the likes of Final Song. (Which I didn't dislike but still was exasperated by as a cash-in attempt)

Really hard to say what the album will sound like though. Hopefully some experimentation like Lykke Li and ToveLo's recent efforts, even if it is alongside some safer ones.

So in love with the artwork and ‘Way Down’.
And so here for the Charli and Empress Of tracks, can’t wait for this.

Posted by: blacksquare Sep 7 2018, 09:18 AM

'Way Down' is her best attempt at blending her sound from the debut with her more recent (Diplo, Lean On etc) music

a bop

Posted by: Conderella Sep 7 2018, 11:12 PM

I just did a google search and it seems Way Down was available in some form since May ohmy.gif

The chorus flute (?) parts are absolutely incredible.

Posted by: Klumzee Sep 8 2018, 10:07 PM

Really loving Way Down! It's got some flavour behind that some of her recent singles have been lacking, a proper bop. Also major love to the flute heart.gif

"Imaginary Friend" will be released as the next instant grat tomorrow.

Posted by: SLlewellyn Sep 24 2018, 06:22 PM

“Imaginary Friend” is amazing - shame nothing from this era looks set to deliver her another UK chart hit. Also, lucky Japan; they get “Kamikaze”, “Final Song” and “Nights With You” as digital bonus tracks.

Posted by: blacksquare Oct 21 2018, 09:57 AM

This is such a solid pop album. I was really worried she'd struggle to put something cohesive together post-Lean On and with the label mess, but all of this sounds effortless.

Posted by: blacksquare Oct 21 2018, 10:01 AM

There are so many hooks throughout, a bigger name would have massive singles with a lot of this tbh.

I’m really enjoying Blur at the moment - haven’t quite got around to the rest of this as yet...

Posted by: Cremey Oct 21 2018, 10:47 AM

Absolutely love this, one of my favourites of the year.
Completely agree with blacksquare, I was worried she’d struggle post Lean On and would go down a route that didn’t feel authentic to her but she’s really pulled it off with this. It’s got all the hooks and melodies but still feels very her.

Such a solid album, so pleased for her after all this time.

Posted by: Conderella Oct 22 2018, 01:10 PM

Incredible album. If It's Over is such an anthem. Love love love

Posted by: Conderella Oct 22 2018, 09:25 PM

The Way Down, I Want You and Blur is like the PERFECT trio. Cannot get enough <3

Posted by: dandemonic* Oct 23 2018, 07:49 AM

Beautiful Wreck though wub.gif

Posted by: Cownt Dracula Oct 23 2018, 02:41 PM

Need to hear all of this but loving Mercy and Blur wub.gif

Posted by: HausofTove Oct 30 2018, 11:12 AM

LOVE THIS ALBUM. Probably my favourite (non soundtrack) album since 'Bloom'. So explosive, vibrant and full of life. <3

Posted by: Conderella Oct 31 2018, 06:08 PM

This is quickly becoming my favourite album of the year. Virtually all the songs are slaying my existence right now.

A new version of "Blur" featuring Foster The People is slated to be released next week.

The version you'll hear on Alt 92.9 features Mark Foster of Foster The People. This remix hits the web for sale and streaming on November 30, so enjoy the album cut in the meantime.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 23 2018, 08:46 PM

Didn't realise Foster the People was actually named after the lead singer!

Posted by: SLlewellyn Nov 23 2018, 11:25 PM

I still cannot get over the fact that this album missed the T100 here in the UK, it's criminal! "Blur" is the standout for me (with "Imaginary Friend" in close second), I hope this remix/a good music video can push it into the mainstream.

Posted by: Juan Carlos ⚡️ Nov 29 2018, 08:08 PM

The music video will be released tomorrow at 9am. ET / 2pm. GMT.

The band was originally going to be called Foster and the People, in reference of Mark Foster and the other two members (Mark Pontius and ex-member Cubbie Fink), but they removed the 'and' in the name.

This is much better than it has any right to be

can't get enough of Sun In Our Eyes heart.gif

Whole record is amazing.
