Top 40 Chart Commentary

It's another great week for Kungs, who matches the Avicii record for most weeks spent at #1 as 'This Girl' gets its 12th consecutive week at #1. Avicii still has the distinction of being the only to debut at #1 and then stay there for 12 weeks, but Kungs' run is equally as impressive. Kungs also climbs to #5 with 'Don't You Know'. Could he possibly replace himself at #1?

Marshmello climbs 18 places to get his first top 10 hit with 'Alone', at #10. Era Istrefi is the third entry in the top 10 as she returns to #9. Steve James follows Marshemello, climbing to #12 with 'In My Head'.

Armin van Buuren overtakes himself as 'Again' climbs to #24 and 'The Ultimate Seduction' sinks to #26. Similarly named Armand van Helden is the highest new entry in the top 40 with 'Wings', his first song in a few years.

Also entering this week is Duke Dumont, with 'Be Here' at #33. It is the follow-up to #28 hit 'Ocean Drive' which was released over a year ago, and is his 7th top 40 hit (5 of which were top 10 hits).

The last new entry comes from Tory Lanez. He was featured in Kali Uchis' 'Ridin Round' which was a top 75 hit here but now he gets his own top 40 hit with 'Luv', new at #40. Danny L Harle re-enters at #39 with 'Ashes of Love', climbing 2 places from #41.

The longest runner is still MK and Becky Hill's 'Piece of Me' which gets a 27th week in the top 40. Not only that but it climbs 7 places to #25 this week.

I do like how similar this is to the UK Chart! (in terms of top end movement) Makes it more of an achievement to see a track break through the ranks.

05. it's gonna climb my chart again this Friday, maybe to #1 who knows?
10. all the hype around it probably would've got it vetoed, amazing tune though.

33. I'm fine with the 5 minutes myself, but a radio edit would be nice. It's not meant to be a radio single though so I don't think it'll get an official one.

I've always based my chart on the UK chart to an extent, and I personally like having a competitive top-end instead of just letting anything go top five/ten. Deffo not a fan of songs spending 50+ weeks in the top 100 though, I like to keep things fresh.

I was gutted about the UK chart channel being taken down too There's so many American ones that are up but a lack of UK chart recaps that stretch beyond the top 40. Can't guarantee a new vid every week but it's something I'd like to do, and with how little movement there is in the chart it shouldn't take too long to update the video

Duke Dumont always delivers so glad he's back, and I'm a fan of the Tory Lanez song too - would quite like that to be a UK hit.

'Luv' is the only climber into the top 40 that I'm familiar with! But it's fab, I'm really loving the production of it in particular. <3 Duke Dumont is generally really good so I should check out 'Be Here' at some point!

I am quite enjoying 'Luv' right now, good to see it doing fairly well on Spotify. You'd like 'Be Here' too, it's more club-oriented but still classic Duke Dumont sounding.

Hoping Mean What I Mean can climb into your top 40, it's solidified itself as my favourite AlunaGeorge song I think, definitely gonna check out this new album going by what I've heard so far, an impressive turnaround after I found their debut album a bit boring and samey!
