I thought I should open up a general discussion thread for the AF Song Contest since it'll be a continuous thing and not just a one-off - plus I've closed the poll thread so if there are any thoughts on 'Outta My Head' being chosen as the song to represent Leona in SC #1 then this can be the place to share them.
Despite voting for TAB, I think the final 3 were all worthy winners and definitely the biggest missed single opportunities. Hopefully Leona does at least reasonably well in the first contest. This post has been edited by Scene: 3rd September 2017, 06:31 PM |

Great choice!
I prefer TAB, but I voted OMH! I feel that is the number 1 missed oppourtunity for Leona. TAB is outstanding though |

I bet the people that have decided for OMH to represent leona in a 2016 competition are the same that are deciding her singles choice ..bit shocked but I like it just that GH is on another level

outta my head is 🔥 still think it might have saved that campaign a bit I've always imagined that it would've done well in at least the UK and Europe if it was pushed as a single - even after the global non-event that was 'I Got You'. The British buying public were lapping up electro-pop and dance music around the time and I don't know how any |

Disappointed in this being chosen, you just know it will be one of the first out, its incredibly dated and their are several better songs. Oh well.

It's not about your favourite songs. It's about potential singles and this was easily the most missed single oppourtunity for Leona, especially at the time. It would've been a huge smash hit for her, I'm confident of that. A lot moreso than if she was to release 'Glassheart', which sounds like something The Saturdays would release and flop with (as much as I do really like it - I really do )

The breakdown alone was very 'Where Have You Been'. Definitely not a Saturdays reject. |

The poll was "what should have been single" not "what should Leona release in 2016" ... Yes I know..but if u check other forum artists..some of them are choosing a song that should have been single but it s not outdated so it could have more chances to do well in the competition |

The poll was "what should have been single" not "what should Leona release in 2016" ... But once it gets put against other songs that don't sound as dated I think people will naturally vote it as one of the poorest of the bunch, which is a shame as she has so many 'should have been singles' that have aged better than OMH. Anyway it's no big deal really, just disappointed that is what has been chosen. This post has been edited by Dmdr: 6th September 2016, 12:08 PM |

Well it's got the majority vote so hopefully all of the posters who voted for it will support it in the SC.
There will be other themes in the future where TAB or GH can probably be chosen. A Music Video theme would be good though. |

OMH is known on this forum for being a banger for her and is more often than not one that people always refer to in the iTunes topics etc.. when Leona's released something new. OMH will smash it. I'm sure of it.

I must be in the minority then for thinking OMH doesn't sound dated.

I must be in the minority then for thinking OMH doesn't sound dated. It sounds very "2009" which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But because that was the year where EDM exploded onto the scene (at least in the UK), I think a lot of the early releases were... basic(?) EDM pop songs like 'Poker Face', 'Beat Again' and 'I Gotta Feeling'. But pop dance music has evolved so much since then (going from dubstep influences, to house then to garage) that I find it hard to love OMH as much as I used to. It was a great song of its time but it isn't one of my favourites from Leona. |
