It's not gonna do 10K a week for the rest of the year like The Weeknd-The Highlights? What a flop

I still remember as a kid I was obsessed with Bananarama and particularly I Heard a Rumour
then after the single in late 87, they released the album Wow and bought it immediately and loved it and I remember checking at the end f week 1 and it had charted at... #61 :/ and that's from one of the biggest pop acts of the 80s :/ then the 2nd single Love in the First Degree became huge so they pushed the album again and this time it went in and peaked at... #59 only later in 1988 after single 3 or 4, the album made the top 40 for a few weeks peaking at #26 and then disappearing again from the charts |

Ive always been miffed for years about how their albums just in general seem to totally underperform even back when they were having huge hits, clearly they are a singles act despite them releasing some great albums.

Yeah, I was shocked when I recently discovered only one of their studio albums ever went top 10 (and that was their debut). I can't quite work out why their singles success never translated to album sales.

It's definitely odd how the big hits didn't translate into album sales as for most acts especially back then it did.
Their first greatest hits album did sell well though showing people just seemed interested in their singles. |

I don't get it either cos the albums were great, better than most 80s albums, which usually had tons of filler
like with album 3, True Confessions, the album was preceeded by the single Venus, which was a huge hit, weeks and weeks in the chart, very popular, also #1 in the US, then they release the album and no one cares, misses the top 40 (peaks at #46) and is out of the top 75 after 2 weeks |

Low positions are one thing but they all have pretty low overall sales aswell apart from the original greatest hits which is their only platinum album that thankfully managed triple platinum.

The pricing of this album was far too much on the heavy side.
That said, I don't think sales would have been much higher if the price was lower. |

Saw them at the Palladium tonight, thought they were great! They did quite a few songs I wasn't expecting them to, including 'Look On The Floor', 'Only Your Love' and a cover of 'Atomic' - but of course 'Love In The First Degree' was the highlight

Look on the Floor is Sara’s favourite. It’s pretty much a guarantee now.

I dont mind look on the floor but sometimes i feel its just a song that never fully gets going, love in the first degree on the other hand is brill and has bags and bags of nostalgia with it.

It's always been one of mine too.
Actually a Bananarama singles rate would be cool, if anyone has the time/inclination to run one! |
