I'm...a little confused but VERY intrigued. That's the most hooked on an episode of Doctor Who for a long, long time, could've been straight of the Davies/Moffat Golden years. Just really hope this can be resolved well, feels like the ceiling just doubled in size.

When they said that there wasn't going to be a series last year, I wondered whether the team had been told to take note of viewers' comments about the last series before writing the new one. The more this series goes on, the more I suspect I might have been right. They've really upped their game and addressed most of the weak points of the last series.

I'm still trying to process it all, it feels like a second viewing is needed, in case I've missed something.

They've definitely taken a step up in terms of threats and more intriguing storylines, but they still really need to address the companion issue...they were ALL utterly useless in an otherwise really good episode, even Captain Jack seemed surprised there was three of them! laugh.gif (Gosh, John Barrowman hasn't aged a day has he).

100% THIS. Jack was a breath of fresh air compared to thr companions. They should get rid of two and leave Yaz and develop her. She's the only one who can progress.

Jesus Christ I have no idea how I feel about anything I’ve just seen but holy shit

MASSIVE YES at Captain Jack being back I literally air punched as I saw him, what a reveal I’m so excited to see more of him again.
Now with the other insane reveal, it completely depends on how it pays off tbh but I can definitely say Doctor Who hasn’t had me this excited in a LONG time
So many questions, so much excitement

That was a good episode but so many questions!!!

I have to agree that the companions are really still quite pointless :')

Honestly can't remember - I'll need to watch again at some point to fully digest what was going on besides Jack and the other Doctor appearing. laugh.gif

True, she did become a water ship BUT it could either, 1. Be a hint, 2. Be Bill from an alternate universe. We have seen alt universe Master and alt female doctor (who was more threatening and commanding and had more presence than ours...)

I don't think I'll be Bill as she really hasn't been gone long enough for it to make a big impact.

Jack did more in a few scenes and had more of an impact than the three companions in 2 seasons. He also had the best lines. I liked a lot of the lines in the script taking the piss out of aspects of the characters and appearance, it showed a bit of self-awareness.

The Doctor's constant lack of transparency with people she has chosen to allow them to risk their lives being with her is getting very annoying, it's a moral flaw from someone who is supposed to be a moral beacon. Their speech at the end hopefully is the end of that, but it would have been more powerful coming from one individual rather than a Greek chorus.

I used to live near Gloucester and go to school near there, it was our local shopping centre. Just saying - there was only one character with an actual local-ish accent and he got killed off. Still, good to see a City that's been ignored in pop culture forever get a boost. Made me want to go back and look at the upgrades round the Cathedral.

Ruth/Doctor - looking like an alternate universe, not the first one of course, though the first one in which the Doctor has a counterpart. In the spirit of Crisis On Infinite Earths (see DC comics/TV shows) maybe The Master has created one universe where there used to be 2 or more, and everything has become merged and a mess of continuity.....

The best episode of Doctor Who in so long. I feel like the Chibnall responsible for Broadchurch has at last arrived. I loved all of the twists, turns, reveals and QUESTIONS which I need answering immediately.
