Tame Impala's fourth album is slated to be released this year, which is expected to include the songs "Patience" and "Borderline". Both of them were performed on Saturday Night Live.

I'm guessing we could be looking at a summer release? Feel like they could be heading for a #1, I think they should clear 20k after Currents managed 12k and their fanbase seems to have risen a lot since then, which would probably be enough to make #1 in the middle of summer.

"Borderline" will be out this Friday.

Borderline was performed on SNL the other day - can't wait for it to be out!

This is absolutely wonderful

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Apr 12 2019, 06:21 PM

Brilliant! Love it more than Patience. biggrin.gif

Excited to see what the followup to the magnificent Currents would turn out to be

Posted by: Steve201 Apr 14 2019, 03:01 PM

Borderline a lot better than Patience which I was majorly disappointed in.

Posted by: Bré Apr 18 2019, 09:05 PM

'Patience' grew on me a decent amount after finding it underwhelming on first listen but it's still not up there with their best material, and I'm kind of getting the same feeling from 'Borderline' although I can see it potentially growing on me more. Hmm ~

The best thing they've done this year is this feature for Theophilus London:

Obsessed with Borderline, one of those songs I can just listen to on repeat.

Fantastic reception from their Glasto set yesterday - can't wait to watch it!

"It Might Be Time" is available now. The Slow Rush will be out on February 14. There are 12 tracks, including the aforementioned and "Borderline".

It Might Be Time is brillant!

Posthumous Forgiveness is out now!

Absolutely loving this

Posted by: ChristmaSteve201 Dec 3 2019, 09:49 PM

This album is becoming like Catfish and the Bottlemen this time last year as one of my most anticipated of the new year!

Posted by: Bré Jan 2 2020, 01:49 PM

Taken a little while to properly grow on me but I'm really loving 'Posthumous Forgiveness' now, definitely my favourite song from the album so far. I like how it's basically 2 different songs in one, I like the second part more but that just makes listening to the first half more gratifying knowing that it's coming magic.gif

Another new track 'Lost In Yesterday' coming out next week apparently ~

Posted by: Doctor Blind Jan 2 2020, 09:51 PM

I can't say I'm too excited about this album sadly - just listening to “Let It Happen” at the moment on my countdown of the 2010s and it is in another league compared to the recent singles which have just fallen flat for me, especially “It Might Be Time” despite its production I just could not get in to at all.

That said, I AM enjoying “Posthumous Forgiveness” quite a bit at the moment, so maybe there is hope for this project yet?

Posted by: Juan Carlos Jan 7 2020, 09:56 PM

"Lost In Yesterday" will be out at midnight.

I'm liking the new one, throughly looking forward to the album!

Pretty much everything so far this era has been incredible and this is no exception.

1. It Might Be Time
---
2. Borderline
3. Lost in Yesterday
--
4. Posthumous Forgiveness

It Might Be Time remains unbeatable though.

Posted by: Bré Jan 15 2020, 02:35 PM

I think I agree with Pavel's ranking except with #1 and #4 swapped xx

'Lost In Yesterday' has been the most instant of these singles so far for me though, sounding pretty groovy ~ so it could become a bigger fave if it grows on me like all the others have.

Pitchfork review, an 8/10

Most of the singles from the last album hadn't really grabbed me, but this is excellent. The production is as immaculate and as rich as ever.

It's the pensive and sunkissed cousin to 'Currents' — I think it'll open up with more listens.

It really does. At least judging by the singles.

I listened to the album when I was in metro but it was loud so I'll have to do it again properly later. So far pretty great though.

Posted by: *CENSORED* Feb 15 2020, 12:47 PM

Breathe Deeper and Is It True are my first discoveries. So good. Had the former on repeat today.

Posted by: Bré Feb 16 2020, 10:42 PM

This is the first full album by them I've listened to (I am lazy etc.) so I don't know how it stacks up against the rest of their discog but I liked this album a lot, 'One More Year' is a fantastic opener (those trippy chopped up vox *.*) and I'm really loving 'Breathe Deeper' too as well as the singles I was already into, and 'On Track' / 'Is It True' are good highlights too. Will say the first half is definitely better than the second half though, the final track feels like it should have been more of a moment than it actually was at least on first listen.

I think I like the subtle changes made to 'Borderline' for the album version as well, sounds a bit more dancey ~

Posted by: *CENSORED* Feb 16 2020, 11:00 PM

Borderline hit me so hard a couple of days ago, I'm even more in love now. They really know how to layer songs up in the best possible way.

It's insane to think that all of these songs were written and produced by one person.

Posted by: Steve201 Feb 16 2020, 11:23 PM

'Borderline' just brings me back to watching the Glasto coverage last summer as the song was big round then and the performance was class.

Posted by: *CENSORED* Feb 17 2020, 12:09 PM

Instant Destiny is also starting to slay all my orifices.

Literally the only songs below 9.5/10 are One More Year/Hour, Tomorrow's Dust and On Track.

You were right — it did.

What a great album. It doesn't quite reach the same heights as 'Currents' but it's more consistent.

'Borderline' finally clicked with me, as well. The new production is perfect.

Posted by: Steve201 Feb 18 2020, 02:30 PM

Would everyone agree its more commercial/accessible than their previous material?

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Aug 7 2020, 06:09 PM

Is It True video;

Posted by: Mangř Hř Hř Dec 11 2021, 01:13 AM

'No Choice' is fantastic. Very instant.

Quite odd of them to be releasing a deluxe version of the album two years on huh.gif

Posted by: Jester Dec 11 2021, 05:16 PM

No Choice is ace - better than most of the original album!

Posted by: Bdelita Dec 11 2021, 05:48 PM

I love this. Wish they would go for a completely new album though but always great to have new Tame Impala.

Posted by: Juan Carlos Feb 18 2022, 07:41 PM
