It's all change for Robbie Williams, as the singer today (May 9) has announced that he has signed to Sony Music and will release a new album later this year.
After six years at Universal Records, the star will put out his as-yet-untitled 11th studio album on Sony subsidiary Columbia in the coming months. "The team at Sony are professional, incredibly hungry, and have a great energy" Robbie said of the move. "They're inspired, I'm inspired. I'm more ready than I ever have been and I'm totally convinced I'm in the right place. I look forward to working on this album, which is an album I'm immensely proud of, in this exciting new partnership with Sony Music." Robbie is one of the UK's most successful albums artists ever, racking up 11 Number 1s on the Official Albums Chart and shifting over 70 million records worldwide. Check out his full chart history here. Chairman and CEO of Sony Music UK Jason Iley added: “We are delighted to be working with Robbie. This is a once in a lifetime signing with the biggest male solo artist of our generation. Robbie Williams is one of the most charismatic, unique and creative artists this country has ever produced and his incredible achievements continue to make him one of the most successful in the world today. "When he met the team, there was an immediate connection and we are immensely proud to be releasing what is sure to be an album that defines an exciting new chapter for Robbie." http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/r...is-year__14836/ |

Wonder what the deal entails , I take it they get a portion of his ticket sales as there is no money in albums these days

Interesting times I would say , here is a piece I found where the late Price was complaining about record companies, I do think Robbie is lucky with the management that he has , I think they look after him well http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/pri...lavery-20150809 |

I think they look after him well too. Every time I read about David and Tim, they are always described as "forward thinking" and I think that fits him down to the ground.
Plus obviously he trusts them implicitly which is vital. After Nigel Martin Smith and his divide and conquer attitude, he needed that first and foremost I think. |
