Yup, looks like Stuff Like That is the official first single:

I guess Dance Music is being written off as a teaser...

That video could conceivably pass as a Matalan advert.

It's very bananarama and a bit dated but that's not a bad thing either.

I have listened a few times but it is lacking a real hook and the production could have done with adding another beat to it.

UK radio airplay:

37 83 BANANARAMA Stuff Like That (In Synk) IND. 111 +185% 28 18.95 +105%

This just goes to show you how powerful a playlisting on Radio 2 is. It only has 111 plays over the past few days across 28 stations, but 18.95m in audience impressions.

If they could enter the Top 40 album chart it would be an amazing result for them but i feel it will be lucky to enter the Top 75.
2,000 sales will secure a safe Top 75 entry.

Stuff like that has totally grown on me now I love it! Surely the album will easily go top 40 would have thought they might even manage a top 20 album with the current sales climate!?

I'm hoping for top 40 at least, which would actually make it their highest peaking album since the greatest hits 30 years ago laugh.gif

Hell, going above #26 would mean it would be their third highest peaking studio album after Deep Sea Skiving (#7) and Bananarama (#16), but let's not get ahead of ourselves. tongue.gif

Stuff Like That is basically bouncing around in the top 300 on iTunes, which is better than any of their digital releases post-release week. I assume it's gathering no streams at all.

Stuff Like That is currently Number 110 on iTunes, if it could make the Top 100 on iTunes it would be good for them.

I think the main thing that will hold them back is lack of formats - they have released a CD and Vinyl and as their Record Store Day releases proved there is a real demand from their fan base for limited editions, they could/should have considered another vinyl version and cassette to boost week 1 sales as we all know it’ll be a 1 week wonder in the charts.

I agree that it's foolish of them not to basically milk their fans for this - with that said, top 40 should be doable which would be an amazing feat for a Duorama album. I hope they'll at least release Love In Stereo to radio stations. If Viva could push out two singles then I don't see why this one couldn't... sleep.gif

ETA: Stuff Like That is now #91 on iTunes. How high did it go originally?

88 is the highest I've seen it. Multi formats would have worked well for the album as their core fans would buy all but hopefully the low sales climate will see them get their highest charting album in years.

Sadly, no. The closest I got was #111 with 1,781 sales, so I assume Viva sold circa 2k as it at least started in the top 40 in the midweeks...

Drama had sold 4,654 as of September 2009, which makes you wonder how the hell they're still making albums anyway, lol.

Other sales info:

30 Years of Bananarama - 2,315 (#62, July 2012)
Bananarama [Singles Collection] - 1,364 (#66, May 2017)

Those album sales drama.gif It really makes you wonder why they keep releasing them? It’s not as if they claw their investment back each time by going on a huge tour and gaining from ticket sales?

I’ve heard a clip of their attempt at Love In Stereo and I’m not sure how it compares to their usual standards as ‘Rama but it’s pretty dire in comparison to the original. The production is completely identical, as is the melody and the ad libs and everything (real original thought gone into this) and it’s noticeable how lacking the vocals are. It really misses the three part harmony.

It’s good that it’s out there and I hope that it does well. I don’t like the vocals on it but I’d far rather it went to another legendary girl band than died in a vault or went to some no mark X factor reject.

I've now heard the full thing and it's absolutely tragic. A still tweak, for the worse, to the production but otherwise identical apart from the middle 8 that they've made a little adjustment too and ruined.

It's far too close to the original. It's so so so creepy. Got to wonder if they left some of the girls backing vocals on there.

Should have been left to die in the Polydor vault.

They haven't had a top 75 studio album since 1993 and their last top 40 was 1987, I hope they can change at least 1 of these with this album. Was really surprised pop life didnt do way better than it did at the time.
