BuzzJack Music Forum _ Kylie and Dannii Minogue _ A Lifetime to Repair ● 4th Single

Posted by: gavindeejay 2nd August 2018, 04:09 PM

'Lifetime To Repair' has today been sent out to radio as the next single.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 2nd August 2018, 04:31 PM

I am not surprised, the song is very remix-able. (Think Summertime Sadness)

Posted by: ___∆___ 2nd August 2018, 04:46 PM

Not sure how I feel about LTTR as a single - I LOVE the song but there are others I would have preferred but I guess it’s the right kind of summer song.

Just hope BMG actually try to push it as a proper single.

Posted by: pippa 2nd August 2018, 06:16 PM

I am very disappointed by this decision.
I do like it, but i feel there were better choices.
I hope both Kylie and the label get behind this and really give it a push.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 2nd August 2018, 06:40 PM

No. sad.gif

I suppose it's far from the worst choice, but not what I would have gone for. I was hoping for 'Music's Too Sad...' as a nice winter ballad-esque release.

Posted by: liamk97 2nd August 2018, 07:14 PM

This was my number one choice following the album release but there's others I have since thought would be better choices. This one is too much in the same vein as Dancing and Stop Me From Falling; there's some great ballads on this album and it would be good to show that side of the album.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 2nd August 2018, 07:30 PM

Is there a source for this or anything? I've been trying to search for one.

Posted by: pippa 2nd August 2018, 08:00 PM

Music's Too Sad..... would have been an ideal 4th single for September release and it would have presented a completely different side of the album.
That said, the decision is made, so we can do what we can to support it as a single.

Posted by: ___∆___ 2nd August 2018, 09:18 PM

Maybe (Hopefully!) they are saving ‘Musics Too Sad Without You’ for a winter release to coincide with the album repackage?

I think if Kylie gets some TV promo LTTR could really sell the album as it’s very upbeat but if they just rely on R2 playlist and nothing else then it’s not going to help much.

Posted by: liamk97 2nd August 2018, 09:58 PM

I've got to say, despite there being more ideal choices, I do love 'A Lifetime to Repair' and I think, assuming we get them, we could see some great performances and remixes of this. I can see it being a crowd-pleaser; the composition of the song really lends itself to hyping up the audience .

Maybe Kylie's working her way through all the songs in order and we'll get a video for them all? biggrin.gif #wishfulthinking

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 2nd August 2018, 10:26 PM

I like the song and it's not a bad choice and I hope music too sad gets released to promote the repackage.Hopefullybtgey have plans in place to promote it and il be greedy and hope for some form of physical release.

Posted by: ___∆___ 3rd August 2018, 01:23 AM

^^ Was just thinking please give us a physical release! They could easily sell 5,000 units of whatever physical they decided upon.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 3rd August 2018, 02:53 AM

Ya I agree or do a vinyl and a cd as fans will buy both especially if we get a b side and I'm sure she has songs available.

It's not winter yet (at least in Northern Hemisphere). tongue.gif

Anyone?

Nope, can’t find any information in any of the usual places (Say Hey etc.,).

Posted by: pippa 3rd August 2018, 12:40 PM

As of yet, it appears this is not confirmed then, is that correct?

Posted by: gavindeejay 3rd August 2018, 02:29 PM

Sorry guys, it has been sent out to radio, I wouldn't make it up. It normally takes a few days for it to filter through on social media/online particularly when it's a single released well into the album campaign. Here's the text of the email:-

It spawned the singles ‘Stop Me From Falling’ and ‘Dancing’, the official video for which has over 10 million views and counting.

‘Golden’ leads the charge in best-selling cassettes of 2018, announced by Official Charts earlier this month. One week after release, ‘Golden’ was also announced as the fastest-selling vinyl album of 2018.

Later this year, Kylie will bring her extraordinary creativity as a live performer back to the stage this autumn when brings her ‘Golden’ tour to UK, Ireland and Europe. Tickets for the shows are on sale via all regular outlets as well as via Kylie’s website - http://www.kylie.com.

It will likely filter and appear in release schedules in the coming days.

Interesting that the press release doesn't mention 'Golden' the single.

Makes me wonder, was it just a buzz single like 'Sexercise'? Not that I really know what that means.

Yep for me Golden was just a ‘radio single’ - sent out purely to get record of the week at R2 to coincide with the announcement of her headlining the BBC concert.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 3rd August 2018, 09:49 PM

Ya I was gonna say the same thing, for a single it has been completely overlooked.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 3rd August 2018, 11:04 PM

I totally feel like 'Golden' was a single, but that they're just not really going to put much effort into those now the album's out.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 4th August 2018, 12:06 AM

I get that but golden really wasn't even given a small chance to do anything until the voice performance.

I would definitely regard Golden as a single, it was just quite low-key in the way it was handled.

Posted by: pippa 4th August 2018, 12:07 PM

The artwork at the least is handled better than with Golden, which came weeks after its release.
It will be interesting to see the differences (if any) on how this single is handled in comparison to Golden.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 4th August 2018, 12:40 PM

Apparently this has been played on Radio 2, it's been slightly remixed.

I feel like this needs a bit of a remix to properly work as a single, so I'm intrigued to hear that.

Thanks, I’ll post it later on as I’m out and about at the moment smile.gif

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 4th August 2018, 03:04 PM

The new mix is not radically different I suppose, just more emphasis on the fiddle than the "woaaoooh"s after the chorus.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 4th August 2018, 04:52 PM

It's not a big difference but it does make the song more memorable. I really hope they push this now.

Posted by: ___∆___ 4th August 2018, 10:49 PM

The fact that we have artwork and a radio edit/remix already makes me think they will put a little more effort into pushing this track - they know it will help build momentum into Q4 if they can get a radio hit and album sales now.

I know I say it all the time but just give the fans physicals and a digital remix EP BMG! Guaranteed Top 40 for every release!

Any promo opportunities for the single may not be confirmed yet. As she’s in the UK next month it would be a waste if she wasn’t on something like Graham Norton. This single is to get her onto radio to help last minute ticket sales for the tour.

Golden if I remember correctly was sent out on her 50th birthday (or there abouts). If you want I’ll see if I can find the press info on it tomorrow for you smile.gif

From OCC:- http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/kylie-minogue-unveils-new-edit-of-next-single-a-lifetime-to-repair__23547/

QUOTE
A new version of A Lifetime To Repair was unveiled on BBC Radio 2 over the weekend, during Alan Carr and Mel Sykes' Summer Escape show.

The new edit includes beefed up production on the verses and added fiddle (!) on the chorus. In case you missed the memo, Kylie embracing all things country on her latest set.

Listen to the new version of A Lifetime To Repair on BBC Radio 2 here, around the 2 hour 40 minute mark. The song is the fourth spin-off from Golden, following Dancing, Stop Me From Falling and the title track.

Golden became Kylie's sixth chart-topping album on the Official Chart in April this year and was recently certified gold for sales of 103,000 across physical, downloads and streaming.

Official Charts recently revealed Golden as the UK's best-selling cassette of 2018 so far, as sales of the retro format are up almost double from last year.

Kylie's UK arena tour kicks off on September 18 in Newcastle and includes three dates at London's O2 Arena.

Posted by: liamk97 6th August 2018, 06:12 PM

I was worried the radio mix got rid of the "repair" refrain totally as that's one of my favourite bits. As it's still there in some capacity, I think I can enjoy this edit.

Posted by: ___∆___ 12th August 2018, 09:19 PM

Kylie’s still tweeting links to Golden - someone needs to let her know they’ve moved on to LTTR already laugh.gif

Time for Kylie and the label to get behind A life time to repair.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 13th August 2018, 06:25 AM

Apparently she filmed the video in Venice.

Posted by: Monzo 13th August 2018, 07:09 AM

For the first time the first four songs on a Kylie album became singles.

Is ALTR the final single from Golden or will we get one more? Kylie, Light Years & X had more than four singles. Will Golden join this club?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 13th August 2018, 11:45 AM

With a rerelease coming I'd say we will get a fifth.

Posted by: gavindeejay 13th August 2018, 12:45 PM

No doubt the next single after ALTR will be a new single from the repackaged album. To be honest I'm surprised they're bothering with ALTR if they're planning on re-issuing the album as it will encourage more sales of the standard edition. Do we know when it's released yet?

If the Sigala single happens that will be tacked on to the re-release I’m sure and I have a feeling MTSWY will be the final/Winter-Christmas single unless she has recorded something new for the updated version that they go with.

Posted by: pippa 14th August 2018, 01:35 PM

I would now believe it will be the Sigala duet that will be the single to promote the release of the new edition.
I would be shocked but happy if MTSWY is single five the duet as the 6th single.

Its on Aussie itunes etc now, so will be up in the UK at midnight

Posted by: pippa 16th August 2018, 03:51 PM

Is tomorrow its official full release day?

Posted by: SmileyKylie 16th August 2018, 05:26 PM

The good news is that its a stand alone on Itunes

https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/a-lifetime-to-repair-edit/1422571121?i=1422571124&app=music

therefore we can actually download it away from the album and it has its own cover etc , hopefully on Spotify too etc.

Kylie fans should be able to get top 50 on Itunes and we just all need to stream like hell.....

Maybe she could sneak a top 100 hit again with this........

Posted by: pippa 16th August 2018, 06:32 PM

If it could manage an official Top 100 placing i think we could refer to this as a successful 4th single.

If she had released a phyisical this week she could possibly have got another top 75 hit.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 17th August 2018, 11:31 AM

Sadly not on any playlists.

Didn't even make Spotify New Music Friday UK.

so will do absolutely nothing.

top 200 chart maybe

I have streamed both versions my allotted times already today.

don't understand Kylie fans who cant get free Spotify and just stream it lol.

Posted by: pippa 17th August 2018, 12:27 PM

We are not expecting great things for the single.
That said, as pointed out, it has already out performed Golden.
For this to stand any chance of success it needed to be added to playlists like mentioned.
A physical as also mentioned and promotion to back it up.
All combined for this week would possibly have resulted in the single charting.
It would be wonderful if the album can climb the chart due to the single release.

I think BMG/Kylie need to actively try and engage fans into streaming tbh - they could start by using social media with links to the song, neither BMG or Kylie’s accounts have even bothered to promote today’s release yet. BMG also need to start spending some £££ to get on a playlist or two!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 17th August 2018, 02:12 PM

It's essentially pointless if they can't get key additions on Spotify's playlists.

Posted by: pippa 17th August 2018, 02:48 PM

The playlists are essential and they do need to invest capital into it and also use social media more to their advantage.

Dropping quickly on iTunes now - currently #65 although I’m happy it managed to reach #44.

I hate all the up and down we get though - it’ll probably fall out of the iTunes chart before airplay and (hopefully!) promo starts so leads to sales being split over multiple weeks which an act like Kylie can’t afford but whatever - glad we got a new mix and single cover for this release.

Decent start for a 4th single with no promo yet - I know a lot of them will be smaller/regional stations but impressive that she’s getting some support for it.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 2nd September 2018, 02:48 AM

Hopefully support will pick up even more.

Posted by: Theo. 4th September 2018, 07:47 PM

She's posted a clip of the music video on her Instagram, it's released on the 18th:

The day after I get back from holiday, that will be a nice treat.

(Hopefully)

Posted by: ___∆___ 4th September 2018, 09:12 PM

yahoo.gif Saw the post on IG too - good to see they are taking this single release seriously in the run up to Q4.

Posted by: liamk97 4th September 2018, 09:55 PM

Hope it is a music video, but it could be part of the intro or an interlude for the tour as that commences the date that's in the video.

Posted by: pippa 5th September 2018, 06:02 PM

It would be wonderful if its the video for the song and i think it will.

Posted by: liamk97 8th September 2018, 08:39 AM

Up to #33 on UK radio this week. Hopefully it's in for another good climb this week.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 8th September 2018, 08:57 AM

Where did 'Golden' peak again?

It went straight in at its peak of #22 (well, a climb from #2083).

I'm assuming kylie will perform this tomorrow so I hope she introduces it as this is my new single which is OUT NOW.

Posted by: pippa 8th September 2018, 12:34 PM

She should let people know as it cant do any damage.

I’m not holding out much hope laugh.gif Let’s not forget she didn’t even mention ‘Golden’ was the new single let alone before it when she done the R2 session.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 8th September 2018, 02:27 PM

If I'm honest I can see the same happening again and it really makes no sense at all.

Kylie's latest tweet shares a bit more of the video with the hashtag #GoldenTour, so it looks like it is an interlude rather than a music video.

A video could still be coming though. Don't forget this clip: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=460068187807915&id=5988735115&ref=bookmarks

Up to #27 on airplay. Going the right way but I thought it would have been in for a better climb this week following Hyde Park.

The problem is the song wasn’t included in the set list at Hyde Park, which made no sense given it’s supposed to be the current single.

I just thought stations would refer to the Hyde Park concert and then play the song after

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 14th September 2018, 11:20 AM

It really made no sense that she didn't perform it.

Posted by: pippa 15th September 2018, 01:37 PM

We will most likely never know whether A Lifetime To Repair or Golden performed better.

Posted by: liamk97 15th September 2018, 09:15 PM

At this point I would say Golden performed better. Has better streams, a remix, been performed more and has the slight benefit of sharing the same name as the album.

Posted by: ___∆___ 16th September 2018, 06:28 PM

^^ Also ALTR went Top 40 on iTunes - Golden missed the Top 500+ when it was released (Although it did manage to peak in the Top 100 when the remix was randomly released).

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 16th September 2018, 06:45 PM

Both have done very badly but from sales there probably isnt a huge difference between them.

Posted by: liamk97 18th September 2018, 12:32 PM

Currently #194 on iTunes.

Posted by: pippa 18th September 2018, 01:39 PM

It appears to be an out of nowhere boost but welcoming to see.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 18th September 2018, 10:08 PM

Up to 168th. Strange to see it climbing. has it hit commercial Radio?

Posted by: liamk97 18th September 2018, 10:18 PM

Guessing it must receive a boost every time it gets played by Radio 2 but now has the added bonus of promo surrounding the tour to help lift its sales further.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 18th September 2018, 11:33 PM

Although it will never chart it's good to see it get some sales

Posted by: SmileyKylie 19th September 2018, 04:38 AM

127 now. Strange. It must have been played somewhere new....

Posted by: ___∆___ 19th September 2018, 06:07 AM

Plus ‘Dancing’ is #117 - would love to see this hit Silver even though it’s a long way off atm.

Posted by: aeroco 19th September 2018, 07:33 AM

It’s upto 23 on the rolling airplay chart plus I can’t see the edit version on the iTunes chart anywhere.... maybe it’s being combined on the iTunes chart?

Posted by: ___∆___ 19th September 2018, 08:14 AM

Also to confuse matters a 2 track promo CD of Golden featuring both Weiss remixes has been sent to radio too laugh.gif

Posted by: SmileyKylie 19th September 2018, 10:07 AM

94 on iTunes now ..... Has it been reduced or something?

Posted by: liamk97 19th September 2018, 10:08 AM

No still 99p. Will just be the tour effect - I imagine it's the first time some people will have heard it tbh.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 19th September 2018, 10:52 AM

Reducing it to 59p would help but that could be done for dancing too as with the tour it will climb.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 19th September 2018, 04:48 PM

87 now.

Dancing 79.

nocheer.gif Just as interest is getting going following the start of the tour too. BMG haven’t helped themselves though by releasing promo CDs to radio of the Weiss mixes of ‘Golden’ they need to pick a single and stick with it!

Posted by: liamk97 19th September 2018, 07:19 PM

Would have been nice to have stayed there another week, especially following its recent boost, but 4 weeks on the A-list is still good.

'Dancing' and 'Golden' had 5 weeks each and 'Stop Me From Falling' had 6 weeks.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 20th September 2018, 01:32 AM

When is the video being released?

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 20th September 2018, 06:14 AM

That's just what I was thinking. Are we even getting one, or is it still to come?

Posted by: liamk97 20th September 2018, 11:02 AM

Something was teased on social media with ALTR playing which was thought to be the music video, but that was over a month ago now. Could have just been for a tour video backdrop or something. They've left it a bit late now that it's off the Radio 2 playlist but it would still be nice to have one, just from a fan-perspective.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th September 2018, 12:21 PM

Ya I would have liked a video too as its to have as a fan.

Posted by: ___∆___ 20th September 2018, 01:39 PM

Maybe the lyric video is as much as we’ll be getting? nocheer.gif

Posted by: pippa 20th September 2018, 02:28 PM

That is likely the best outcome with the gap since the official release.

Posted by: ___∆___ 20th September 2018, 08:32 PM

arrow up.gif 92 on iTunes

Even a tour video would help give this a boost!

Posted by: Jay ☆ 21st September 2018, 05:50 AM

It'll be a shame if there doesn't end up being one, but it does seem that they've missed the boat.

Are we sure about this though?

she's not even performing 'Music's Too Sad...' on the tour, so that to me at least rules out the possibility of a tour video. Plus 'Lost Without You' is a bonus track so I really can't see it being a single.

Posted by: liamk97 21st September 2018, 09:32 AM

Up to #21 on the radio airplay chart, outpeaking 'Golden'.

Radio peaks:

19 Dancing
18 Stop Me From Falling
22 Golden
21 A Lifetime to Repair

Posted by: SmileyKylie 21st September 2018, 11:21 AM

75th on UK Itunes....

Yeah, it is quite a discouraging sign in regards to it becoming a single - I can see either 'Shelby 68' or 'Radio On' being more likely to close the era now - but I suppose it's not out of the question. Madonna snubbing 'Ghosttown' on the Rebel Heart Tour springs to mind.

Posted by: pippa 21st September 2018, 12:23 PM

Going by the tour list i agree that the outcome you say is most likely true which i find hugely disappointing.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 21st September 2018, 06:43 PM

This era is now going to be until Glastonbury in June........ plenty more to come especially with new songs on a new release no doubt.

Posted by: aeroco 23rd September 2018, 09:16 AM

Not all radio stations show up on Compare My Radio so it’ll be most likely getting better plays on the smaller stations as they target older audiences who would appreciate Kylies music.

Edit:- it’s now playing on Asda Fm Live as I wrote this laugh.gif

Posted by: hexschofield 23rd September 2018, 04:08 PM

Lifetime to Repair is a great song, the remix new version I adore.... wish we had an official video for the release - it could have been an exclusive at the tour.... I remember all the Garibay videos that were just stunning and so exciting

Posted by: ___∆___ 30th September 2018, 08:19 AM

Guess we’re not getting anything other than the lyric video for this then huh.gif Said lots of times but the handling of the singles this era have been a hot mess.

I just hope that if they do release MTSWY that they give it a proper push to support the album.

Would love to see this - she should have released it to coincide with the tour tbh. Although I do think MTSWY is a good winter single and would make for some good promo if both her and Jack are available to promote it.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 30th September 2018, 08:40 PM

Id prefer to see musics too sad with you as a single but it wont happen as her not performing it on the tour probably shows it wont be happening.
