NMSS confirmed as next single and is going to feature Machine Gun Kelly.

Posted by: Defaze 11th February 2017, 10:50 PM

Lord knows what they're filming at this point. After initially hammering 'Power', I think I'd actually prefer NMSS as single 3. However, it's definitely a logical choice given that it's performing best on Spotify/iTunes.

More importantly, it means it'd spare us 'Oops' surely?

Posted by: Matt1989 11th February 2017, 11:32 PM

I've learnt not to even try second guessing LM by this point! For me Power is one of the standouts on Glory Days so I'd be happy if it's a single

Posted by: lewistgreen 12th February 2017, 12:45 AM

I seriously hope this is the case. Oops has nothing on Power at all

Posted by: Tinasha 12th February 2017, 01:23 AM

Oops would have been a massive hit if properly released but it's so boring in comparison to Power.

Posted by: RobBob 12th February 2017, 01:42 AM

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS POWER

Posted by: Juliano 12th February 2017, 01:38 PM

I think it makes a lot of sense and for sure will perform great as single 3, but we shall see.

Posted by: Tinasha 12th February 2017, 01:59 PM

Imagine the Brits performance is Power with the video dropped afterwards?

Posted by: Davidson 12th February 2017, 04:21 PM

I still stand by that 'Power', although one of my favourite album tracks, would make a horrible single choice. The verses just sound too noisy and crazy, it would be so jarring on the radio. I feel like it's a song that appeals to people who are already fans of them but isn't friendly on the ears for the everyday listener.

'No More Sad Songs' is for sure the best single option left.

Posted by: Tinasha 12th February 2017, 04:23 PM

It definitely needs a radio edit to clean it up a little but I think wihna great (like much more expensive than Touch) video it could be a hit.

Posted by: MrLoverboy 12th February 2017, 06:01 PM

I hope not! And I seriously doubt they'd shoot a video for Power and hint at it so easily on snapchat. They never give us any details while shooting a music video

Posted by: Jonjo 12th February 2017, 06:41 PM

They also posted lyrics from 'No More Sad Songs' with an image of Jesy last night too. I think they're just trying to plug the album streams more!

Posted by: liamk97 12th February 2017, 10:13 PM

I'm undecided on how much I like 'Power'. The chorus is great; really anthemic that the girls would really make the best of when performed live but, like Davidson said, there's aspects that are a bit jarring, as well as the hideous "motorbike" lyric. I don't think it would hinder their chances of being successful with it if it was a single though, especially with a radio edit.

I just don't understand the mild reception for 'Oops', nor do I understand why people seem so against it being a single. It's clearly got its fans, judging by its chart performance, and it makes a nice change from the, albeit good, sassy pop bangers. Definitely feels more of a single than 'No More Sad Songs' - now, that is a great song, but it doesn't feel like a single to me, more like fantastic album track. 'Nothing Else Matters', which is slightly similar, sounds much more like a single, although definitely a final single.

I love the Motorbike part personally. It's one of my favourite parts, it's the kinda quirky and unique flare that made Girls Aloud stand out. However, outside of those that fully embrace camp pop, it would be heavily sneered upon by causal listeners. I here some people love it and others saying it's too silly. So it could go either way.

I can see the appeal of it but it just makes me embarrassed. 'Power' is on my work's playlist, along with a few other tracks from the album, and it just makes me cringe every time I hear it. It just randomly appears and I can just picture Jesy's (it is Jesy?) face when she's singing it which makes it even worse (not that there's anything wrong with her face haha, I just mean her singing that particular line). It's on par with Cher Lloyd's "Do I sound like a helicopter? Brrrrrrr!".

YASSSSSSSSSSSS

Posted by: Tinasha 13th February 2017, 06:55 PM

People online are seeming to think that the video was shot for NMSS now.

Posted by: TMD_24 13th February 2017, 07:02 PM

We still don't know... laugh.gif

Posted by: Cameron 13th February 2017, 07:50 PM

As long as Oops and You Gotta Not stay album tracks I don't mind what they release

Posted by: Cody Slayberry 13th February 2017, 07:59 PM

FRICK I'd go for either song as a single

(Power or NMSS)

Posted by: robbiesglory 13th February 2017, 08:29 PM

Also, @dianawarner on Insta who is the girls stylists for the video tagged Machine Gun Kelly in a recent post so we might be getting a feature.

Posted by: Matt1989 13th February 2017, 09:37 PM

Whether it's Power or No More Sad Songs that's the next single, I don't think either needs a feature tbh

Posted by: Tinasha 13th February 2017, 09:48 PM

He'd work as a feature on Power but NMSS really didn't need a feature.

Posted by: Juliano 14th February 2017, 10:12 AM

I think either having a single edit is a good plan to be honest and I can see MGK suiting either to be honest. It's a good move, I'm behind it.

God I hadn't even considered this a possibility, I'd be so sad... It's one of the bits of the song that asks the most for visuals...

Posted by: Juliano 15th February 2017, 09:40 PM

Probably for the radio edit of Power they want to replace the Motorbike, motorbike, bike, bike, bike, bike whoop! bit.

Posted by: Jonjo 15th February 2017, 10:50 PM

The motorbike lyric cannot go. Seriously. It's part of the songs appeal! A lot of people would quote that and there's a nice novelty to it!

My friend (who is by no means a fan of the girls) told me she liked "the motorbike song"!

Posted by: Cameron 15th February 2017, 11:57 PM

I feel NMSS needs a summer video. So either will do for me tbh

I agree, I love that part, I find myself randomly motorbiking from time to time, but I just imagine them getting rid of it. cry.gif

The Mix Men confirmed that the video they filmed wasn't for Power. I saw it on Twitter.

No More Sad Songs come through!

Posted by: Tinasha 16th February 2017, 11:44 AM

Watch it be for Down & Dirty

Posted by: Jonjo 16th February 2017, 12:08 PM

'Down & Dirty' would be a great single choice. That's one that would benefit from streaming and being added to clubs and playlists and things. So I think it'd be a sensible choice in all honesty. Save NMSS for the Summer and get a Summery video for it!

Posted by: Juliano 16th February 2017, 12:29 PM

Oh wow really? I already assumed it was for Power because it just kind of fits with Nashville, maybe F.U., maybe more scenes for the Oops video, I don't see it suiting No More Sad Songs, but I have everything crossed that it is. I just find it hard imagining a concept. But for some reason I have F.U. in my head, wouldn't MGK suit it so well?

Posted by: Karl. 16th February 2017, 01:46 PM

Whatever it is, I hope they won't release it just yet because I really want them to push Touch while they're on tour. I will not allow it to not be a global smash. Not on my watch!

Posted by: MixedUp 17th February 2017, 12:36 PM

Maybe they're just doing a US version of Touch with Machine Gun Kelly as a feature? I'd honestly prefer that because neither Power nor NMSS needs a feature - although, neither does Touch, but it'll definitely help the song gain traction in the US.

Posted by: Liаm 17th February 2017, 12:42 PM

Touch is the sort of song where a remix would be fine, it'd be quite easy to fit in as well. I'd much prefer that to a Power feature anyway as Power is so bizarre and unique they shouldn't mess with it. Having a feature could boost Touch a bit on radio etc so it's obviously a good idea!

Posted by: BigMixer 17th February 2017, 08:42 PM

NMSS coming to smash!

SOTME - Touch - NMSS

their biggest 1-2-3 punch ever!

Posted by: Juliano 22nd February 2017, 11:43 PM

Oh my Goodness, I am gagged! This has to be Power, it can't be anything else.

Posted by: Tinasha 23rd February 2017, 12:20 AM

Feels more like No More Sad Songs than Power to me. They all look sad. I feel like it's part of a narrative.

Posted by: Jonjo 23rd February 2017, 12:44 AM

I feel like it's them looking quite moody/sensual, basically telling the guys that they have control and the power over them! Plus, I think that CowboyWestern theme would suit the motorbike revving etc..!

Posted by: DiamondHeart 23rd February 2017, 01:16 AM

I can't tell which song that visual would suit better, but I'd love either Power or No More Sad Songs - which ever order, I hope that they're both singles.

Posted by: Juliano 23rd February 2017, 01:19 AM

To me it's an obvious good fit for Power, I don't see No More Sad Songs suiting a western theme at all, but then I've been wrong before. I'd be over the moon with either.

(EDIT: Saying that, one whiskey and a No More Sad Songs listen later, I can totally see it fitting either.)

Also weird that the media is all over it being NMSS ("So far, the speculations about which of Little Mix’s songs might be part of their next Glory Days video is “No More Sad Songs.”)

Posted by: Ariels 23rd February 2017, 04:29 PM

It's looking like Power to me.

Imagine if after all of this 'Will it be Power? Will it be NMSS?' discussion, they served us Down & Dirty as a single.

Tbh. Any of those 3 and I'm happy!

'Down & Dirty' seems to get a great response from people who aren't generally fans.

Yeah, Down and Dirty is fine as an album track but a dumb move to release as a single when there's much stronger songs (Power, No More Sad Songs, FU, Your Love)

Posted by: Electro Paradise 24th February 2017, 07:57 AM

Could it not still be Oops? I don't want it to be and the screen shot suggests it wouldn't be, but seems a little odd that Charlie announced it as a single and then they performed it at XF, it did pretty well and then they change their minds?

I hope it's not Oops, but I'll be too excited at the idea of Power or NMSS I'm scared I'm setting myself up for disappointment lol.

Posted by: Tinasha 24th February 2017, 08:34 AM

The imagine could just as easily be Oops. I know people are saying 'omg it's power' but the cowboy bar theme could be part of any narrative to be honest.

Posted by: Electro Paradise 24th February 2017, 10:53 AM

That's what I was thinking too, it definitely doesn't rule out a Oops video. Booo lol

Posted by: Court 24th February 2017, 02:40 PM

I think people are ruling out Oops because Machine Gun Kelly was there on set and not Charlie Puth

Plus an Oops video has already been shot apparently, so why would they decide to do two, unless they wanted a US version, but I hate when artists do that. Makes little sense to me.

Yeh, they filmed a video for Oops where Charlie Puth gets covered in gunge so that one is already waiting to be released at some point.

Posted by: Tinasha 26th February 2017, 05:31 PM

Ok, so it looks like Machine Gun Kelly/ the new video was actually for a Touch remix!

PLEASE LET IT BE THE ARIANA REMIX!!! OMFG!

(But surely SOMETHING would've leaked about it being hers by now?)

Posted by: Jonjo 26th February 2017, 07:42 PM

I think this might turn out to be a very smart move on the labels part. It's probably why it's not burning up the radio in the US at the moment. They're holding back for this remix. Surely it's got to be someone big enough to warrant them doing a completely new video for it?

Posted by: Juliano 27th February 2017, 09:13 PM

But here is the thing, I guess it is quite a smart room (although I secretly dreaded it), however... we don't actually know if it is actually for the remix (here's me still hoping not anyway), either way any new visuals are exciting for me and the concept looks like it could be a billion video views.

Showed this my mum and told her it was for a video that we aren't 100% sure of and so she told me to remind her of the tracks on Glory Days and after playing her the clips she went... "Private Show would suit that."

Just speculation of course, but that's all we have at this stage.

Their UK team is amazing lol. It's gonna yet another smash.

Posted by: Matt1989 1st March 2017, 04:34 PM

A lot of people have wanted NMSS as a single since it came out but I'm already seeing a fair bit of negativity over MGK's feature. IMO hating on something before you've even heard it is ridiculous. The only doubt I have is whether my heart will survive Jade wearing that outfit in the MV

Posted by: BigMixer 1st March 2017, 04:37 PM

YAAAAAAAAAS!!! My favorite song on GD!

MGK sounds good in that preview! Can't wait to see the video!

Posted by: Tinasha 1st March 2017, 05:11 PM

I'm gonna be controversial and say that Jesy's middle 8 isn't a standout part on the song so I'm not THAT mad if it gets replaced.

Posted by: Josh. 1st March 2017, 05:17 PM

I absolutely adore Oops too so a bit gutted that's getting brushed over now but this is such a fantastic choice too (and surely it'll be another big hit for them!). Excited to hear the feature w00t.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt 1st March 2017, 06:00 PM

I really, really don't like this song. sad.gif

But on the plus side, at least we're being spared 'Oops'!

Posted by: Defaze 1st March 2017, 07:05 PM

Was definitely not expecting this to be revealed so soon -- yasss at NMSS and double yasss at 'Oops' being paid dust. 'Power' for single 4 please for two absolutely perfect eras. A run of BM > LMLY > SLS > 'Hair' > SOTME > 'Touch'> NMSS > 'Power' would be insane. wub.gif

Lol @ yet another rap feature, but good on them since it almost guarantees another smash.

Posted by: Electro Paradise 1st March 2017, 07:10 PM

NMSS has to be the best follow up to Touch, it really reinforces a more grown up, current sound, really excited for this. I'm definitely here for Power to finish off the era with a bang.

The still of the vid has got me intrigued.

Posted by: Juliano 1st March 2017, 07:34 PM

I am over the moon about this!

Posted by: Liаm 1st March 2017, 07:38 PM

Brilliant choice, and Machine Gun Kelly is a good rapper - going by the little clip his rap doesn't sound intrusive, plus I think that NMSS is a song where it's quite easy to add a rap feature without butchering the song too much. It's always a clever move to add a little something new for a single release when an album has already sold loads, I welcome it really as it pretty much guarantees a smash.

Posted by: OutstandingMixer 1st March 2017, 07:42 PM

It's a good choice of single but I'm getting really annoyed with these 'rent a rapper' features. They're a girl group for f*** sake. rolleyes.gif

I'm bored of them too, been too many lately in their singles discography.

Power better be released without any feature.

Posted by: Matt1989 1st March 2017, 08:00 PM

Yeah 3 features in 5 singles does seem like a lot, their songs are good enough on their own so I hope this is the only ft they have on a single this era

Posted by: mdh 1st March 2017, 09:07 PM

What with this being a new version, they'll have New Music Friday and iTunes Hot Songs on their side to set them up for a high chart debut! Where do we think this can reach in its first week?

Posted by: Matt1989 1st March 2017, 09:21 PM

Top 20 at least. Could be Top 10, or at least close to it, if it does get on the big Spotify playlists. One other thing I thought of- these days at the end of the Official Chart Greg James plays a song that was released that day. If he chooses NMSS that could help

Posted by: Jonjo 1st March 2017, 09:23 PM

They're up against Ed Sheeran's album so that'll affect them in a pretty big way!

So I reckon it'll chart in the "no play zone" in next weeks chart, as to where? Just depends on where Ed's tracks come into effect.

Posted by: danG 1st March 2017, 09:31 PM

they play all the new entries in the top 40 now! ^

Posted by: Electro Paradise 1st March 2017, 09:42 PM

Ed Sherean's album comes out though doesn't it? I imagine most of it will make the top 40 in the singles chart too. It might lower their charting position, but as long as they get good sales and longevity it'll be all good.

Posted by: Tinasha 1st March 2017, 10:14 PM

As long as it makes the top 10 in the long run I'm happy.

Poor 'Hair', forever underrated. I do agree that this run tops any of their previous though.

Beyond excited for the video. Do we reckon it'll come Friday too? As much as I want to see it, I think I'd prefer if they held off a bit and released it when the song has garnered a bit more airplay. It'd help it get a better peak later down the line (hopefully when the Ed Sheeran album tracks have vacated the top 40).

I think Monday would be perfect for the video!

No shade on their previous chart runs, they chose the correct singles off Get Weird but Black Magic > LMLY > SLS > Hair are all excellent to strong songs, whereas this is 3 11/10 moments one after the other.

It's out there. Actually a good remix -- MGK works well. I still prefer Jesy's middle 8, but I'd probably place him second to Sean Paul in terms of actual contribution to the track. The cover art is nice too!

I LIKE IT! Obviously prefer the original, but I will take this! I do think it seems more suited to opening the song as opposed to being used as the middle 8 though!

Apparently they've re-ordered the Touch remix so that Kid Ink's part is now in place of the middle 8. I've yet to hear it, but many are saying it flows a lot better now.

The remix works so well and I still think this matches 'Touch' as by far the best song on the album, so it is 100% the right choice.

Posted by: Tinasha 2nd March 2017, 01:08 PM

His rap works really well. Fits in a lot better than Kid Ink in Touch, a lot more care has gone into this remix.

I don't get how this is anywhere near as in your face tropical as I Took a Pill in Ibiza. It's still got that Little Mix stamp with a bit of modern production, it only feels really tropical after half way through. It's not as in your face as Touch which so many compare with 'Sorry'.

To me it bears more than a passing resemblance, but then there are upteen amounts of other songs I could name that have been hits in a similar vein too.

I know it makes sense from a business point of view to get an easy hit for them by doing this, but I kind of feel like they've never so blatantly hopped on a trend-chasing bandwagon like this before. sad.gif

Posted by: RobBob 2nd March 2017, 05:55 PM

Back in love with this song so much, Machine Gun Kelly fits in smoothly and doesn't disrupt the whole vibe at all and I'm now on board with this as single 3 as long as I get Power as the final single. What a beautiful song in a way that a song like I Took A Pill In Ibiza isn't even close to being (nor is it trying to be, I'm aware laugh.gif)

Agree with this. His rap has been so intricately weaved into then song. I actually think I prefer this version.

Why is UK Spotify advertising Touch with Kid Ink as their newest release lol.

Posted by: DiamondHeart 3rd March 2017, 07:18 AM

I actually don't think it's that bad, I like that the production has been retouched for the release. I could do without the ad-libs from MGK in the intro but his verse works fine, any idea when the video will drop? I don't want a Touch 2.0 scenario.

They have such a killer singles run going on now, everything since Black Magic has pretty much been a 10/10 track wub.gif Just listening to the new version of this reminded me of how much I love it, it flows so brilliantly as a track and sounds incredibly polished (whereas Power just sounds messy in my opinion, always been one of my least favourite tracks on the album). I think I prefer it with the rap too, it's a great rap and it fits in so well, Jesy's middle 8 wasn't THAT essential to the song imo so I'm not TOO annoyed that they've sacrificed it for Machine Gun Kelly.

Yeah, totally agree. It's no way near as essential as the middle 8 in Touch.

This did so well on iTunes today but was blocked by the top 10 by all those Ed Sheeran songs. As long as it goes top 10 in the long run...

Posted by: mdh 3rd March 2017, 06:40 PM

This is very very good. I love it for now but assume I'll go off it in the long run, but as I was with Touch at first, I'm so obsessed with this - Little Mix's tracks always tend to be very instant and easy to like at first but have bad replay value.

But yeah, MGK's rap in this is superb, it'd be awesome if it was MGK ft Little Mix with him getting a few verses like that wub.gif

Am I the only one who thinks they've moved on from Touch a tad too quickly? I feel like waiting another 3-4 weeks would have been good as 'Touch' is still doing well and I feel like since they are focusing on 'Touch' now in the US, it would be good to not make it confusing and give the 'Touch' remix time to get on a few playlists there.

Their album is selling well enough that they defo don't need to rush this era. They should be prolonging it.

Posted by: Tinasha 5th March 2017, 03:52 PM

They certainly should have waited a week longer because Ed's album release has totally overshadowed this, but all in all I think Touch, whilst still doing very well impacted before Christmas. We're in March now so I think it's a perfectly good time to launch a new single.

Posted by: Matt1989 5th March 2017, 05:57 PM

Touch definitely impacted after their X Factor performance so timing wise it's probably about right, although knowing when Ed was releasing his album I would've put this back a week

Yeah, I was kinda hoping they would wait for the US to sort of "catch up" first especially with the new Kid Ink remix before releasing a new international single. Feels a bit messy having the two remixes released so close together (although good for us fans! laugh.gif)

It's been only added to night time. Annoyingly. The song's success seems a bit stunted at the moment, I'm sure it'll pick up but nothing's really going to happen until Radio 1 and Capital get on board and we have a video.

Hot Hits has helped with it on Spotify though - it's up 65 places today.

How odd, I would've thought they were big enough to receive high rotation off the bat. Yeah, I'm still pretty certain it'll be a hit -- if Twitter is any indication, then the GP response seems to be similar to 'Touch' so far.

It'll be a hit for sure, Radio 1 will A list it and Capital will S list it, but what I'm worried about is it becoming a long running top 20 hit when I really want this to get the top 10 accolade it deserves.

Posted by: liamk97 7th March 2017, 03:57 PM

Capital are useless when it comes to playing new songs on their playlist. If it isn't smashing left, right and centre on iTunes, they don't care. Obviously, we know that 'No More Sad Songs' is doing well, with or without the Ed Sheeran domination, but Capital have always been funny with what they consider being a success. I imagine they're still happy playing 'Touch'.

By the way, I am fully behind 'No More Sad Songs' being a single now. I don't know why I had my doubts about it - I always really liked the song but it just didn't sound like a single, yet now I don't understand how I felt that way. It's not just down to the Machine Gun Kelly feature either (and I'm the same with everyone else in regards to finding he slots into the song surprisingly well).

Posted by: Tinasha 7th March 2017, 04:12 PM

Little Mix are one of the few artists that don't need to do well to get airplay usually. Hair, Secret Love Song and Touch got daytime playlisting off the bat. Touch and Secret Love Song weren't even top 100 on the first week they were getting airplay from Capital.

Posted by: Jonjo 7th March 2017, 05:33 PM

Yeah. I'm not even worried about this yet. Mainly coz it's just incredibly poor timing and if the radios were to judge based on this weeks charts, we'd literally have nothing but Ed Sheeran playlisted..

I think release it ASAP tbh. I worry that Capital are going to be a bit slow with it until it gets a big boost from somewhere.

Posted by: Electro Paradise 8th March 2017, 06:38 PM

To me it feels like it's been released a little too close to the release of the Touch MV. I think 31st March might have been a bit better timing, enough time for Touch and SOTME to be forgotten a little bit more and for Ed to hopefully have freed up some more room on the charts. Every time I listen to the radio they're banging on about one of his album tracks when normally they would mention Little Mix more. I guess bad timing, but I'm sure it'll do really well in the long run. I doubt most of the general public will know that this is out.

For the reason that most of the music media are still buzzing about Ed I hope they don't release the video this week as again I don't think it'll get the attention it would otherwise. Hopefully Friday 17th Ed doesn't release any vids or do anything else and they'll get a bit more buzz around the vid. The pics make it look really good so I'd hate for it to fly under the radar.

Assuming it's on the same weekend as last year they should be able to. Last year STB was 11 June (very happy birthday to me!) so this year would be the 10th. The last European show of the Glory Days Tour is in Paris on June 8

Shame, I really hope it doesn't underperform. It certainly doesn't deserve to be the track that breaks their hit streak. I still think it'll take off once the video's released.

The Capital situation is still baffling to me. You'd think an act of their standing would be able to secure airplay right off the bat.

Posted by: Tinasha 11th March 2017, 03:59 PM

I really am not worried in the long run, but this is their slowest single to take off since before Black Magic, so it's frustrating waiting.

This is one of their worst timed singles though. Releasing it on the same week as Ed was a terrible choice. And now Drake next saturday... Had I know this was when they'd be releasing, I would have been happy with Oops.

I do agree with this but I think it'll be play in the long run. It's a bit odd that they released this when there wasn't really any demand for a new single from them just yet and Ed is so dominant anything else would just be eclipsed.

I think you might be right, Liam. I think 'Oops' would have been a much bigger hit than 'No More Sad Songs', and in hindsight, would have been a more sensible choice as the third single. I also agree that NMSS feels more like a great album track rather than a strong single choice. I always had doubts about NMSS as a single as it was performing dreadfully on Spotify compared to 'Power' (even 'Down & Dirty' was doing better on there). Having said all that, NMSS could still be a decent sized hit if it's promoted properly and when airplay eventually kicks in.

QUOTE(Juliano @ Feb 25 2017, 12:48 AM) *
Plus an Oops video has already been shot apparently, so why would they decide to do two, unless they wanted a US version, but I hate when artists do that. Makes little sense to me.

QUOTE(dennispennis123 @ Feb 25 2017, 12:48 PM) *
Yeh, they filmed a video for Oops where Charlie Puth gets covered in gunge so that one is already waiting to be released at some point.

63 on the midweek Update

Posted by: Tinasha 14th March 2017, 08:15 AM

I think just because it's off to a slower start it doesn't make a difference. NMSS is easily one of the most likely hits on the album. When Hair was released, it was experiencing a very similar fall, but luckily they released the video the same week as the release, which spurred on airplay and made it quite an immediate hit. Neither Oops or Power would have been any faster without performances or a video.

Posted by: CountOmar 14th March 2017, 10:17 AM

NMSS is one of the best songs on the album, much better than Oops although they shouldn't have just released this as a single quickly after atouch!

I'm not sure if the Oops video has been shot. One poster on Buzzjack said they saw it in the paper months, but couldn't provide a source and nobody else saw it, but it spread a bit on the internet because of that post.

This gets a rare boost on iTunes every time it's played on R1, which goes to show that when it's on proper rotation it'll do great. It's up 10 places since yesterday on iTunes

Good to hear! I hope the video release isn't too far off so that Capital actually start giving it a few spins. Their video boosts are always pretty substantial.

Great!

I think they will bounce back to top 20 with the video and then slowly to top 10 when the airplay kicks in.

It would have been the same for Hair and Touch would have been the same if Hair had not had its video released and if Touch had not been performed on X Factor. TOuch was like #97 before the X Factor performance.

Edit: Actually, Secret Love Song took almost a month to go top 40 after being announced/playlisted.

Up 13 places because Grimmy played it this morning.

Nice climb! Hopefully it carries on! Spotify needs to get a big boost too please.

Posted by: MrLoverboy 16th March 2017, 11:58 AM

They need to make something to create buzz for this. I don't know, I hate video previews, but maybe drop 30 seconds of it for a UK show for people to know they have a new single coming.. do something.

I will say though, if this really underperforms, it will be good for them to realise they need to put in work

Posted by: Jonjo 16th March 2017, 12:25 PM

It really annoys me that they are expected to "put in work" to get hits though, when the likes of Drake, Chainsmokers, Justin Bieber, Ed etc.. can do so LITTLE and get massive hits. I know Ed's done so much with his new era, but he was already gonna be getting huge numbers irregardless!

I just think the only reason as to why it's not done quite as well (or so it seems) on initial impact, is because the timing was really wrong! It seems to be holding up rather nicely and gaining steady ground again now that Ed's tracks are slowly falling away now.

It'll be a hit no matter what I think. Once they release the video (which I believe won't happen until they're ready to promote) I reckon we'll be seeing healthier climbs! On paper this is a good strategy. It takes a couple of weeks for streams to build, so send that out whilst they're still in America, let radio slowly pick it up, drop the video and then promote as streaming is about to hit the peak and just as the video effect wears off.

Posted by: Tinasha 17th March 2017, 08:49 AM

B list now, still not great for airplay with Capital not playing it (they took it off), but it should help a bit. We need the video though. No Little Mix single other than leads has been a hit without the video or a performance.

Capital took it off the playlist? Surely something is amiss behind the scenes? They've hammered everything Little Mix since 'Black Magic' -- even 'Oops' for a while!

Off daytime yes, (after 1 day). I think it's simply because it's too low on iTunes at the moment. I don't think anything is amiss with Little Mix because they're still hammering Touch,

That makes sense, although it's such backwards logic since, y'know, it actually needs airplay to make a dent on iTunes. Then again, this is the same station that seems to think the big top 40 is somehow representative of music consumption in 2017.

Posted by: MrLoverboy 17th March 2017, 11:44 AM

I just hope by the time airplays kicks in, most of Ed album tracks disappear from Spotify top 20

As much as I love Ed it is kinda boring to just hear one artist in half the chart. I totally agree that the timing of releasing NMSS is terrible

Posted by: Cameron 19th March 2017, 09:00 AM

Posted by: Jonjo 19th March 2017, 09:51 AM

Thanks to Drake though, right? drama.gif

FFS. The timing is incredibly frustrating! I know I shouldn't be worried (and I'm really not) I'm just annoyed as to why they couldn't have chosen a better time to release it?

They really should've gone for 'Oops' seeing as radio were half on board with that anyway and (if true) they could've released the video to help it out whilst they're in the US touring, then come back here, release the remix of NMSS, wait a week or so, release the video, get airplay on board and then promote it on BGT and stuff!

Posted by: Tinasha 19th March 2017, 09:57 AM

I think the main issue with this is that as a post album release the video needs to be out sooner than later. Hair was heading for a nasty fall a few days after release but the video release saved it.

Okay I wouldn't go this far! It's just a slow rider, it isn't getting airplay right now, and this is just how it is for songs people don't hear. No other single off the album would be doing any better or any worse at this point.

Posted by: Court 19th March 2017, 05:19 PM

How much longer do you all think we'll have to wait for the video? I worry if they wait too much longer the little radio play they are getting will disappear

Posted by: Matt1989 19th March 2017, 09:21 PM

I have to admit I'm very concerned. This is a great song and deserves to get at least Top 10. Now that Touch has gone Platinum I think Mixers in the U.K. need to switch their focus to NMSS. Surely it can't be long until they release the MV

Posted by: Leonagwen 20th March 2017, 04:23 PM

Posted by: Andrew. 21st March 2017, 07:10 PM

I know it's VERY early days for the single but this does seem to be doing quite disappointingly so far unfortunately sad.gif I agree the best move is to reduce it to 59p and maybe try and get an advertisement on Spotify/iTunes hot songs etc.
Even if this does flop I doubt this'll do them any harm in the long term, they'll still be huge laugh.gif

Posted by: Court 21st March 2017, 11:11 PM

I was hoping this would make the top 10 initially, but now I'm just hoping it makes the top 40 for a few more weeks. Ideally they'll keep it discounted for at least 2 weeks (3 weeks ideally) and get the video out while it's still discounted.

Given Ariana support was a bit of a waste of time and energy, I'm missing them in the UK given the fact that Glory Days hasn't been that widely promoted here, in comparison to their other eras. They have the weekend off this weekend so could technically do The Voice, but if not a stint on Graham Norton when they get back would be good. And where's the video? I definitely feel like they're not present enough in the UK at the moment, which is showing in the decline of the album sales.

Yeah, I'm really hoping they come back for a short stint of promo; even a visit to Capital would suffice. This really need their support if it wants any hope of going top 20 with this.

Wasn't there a observation a few days ago about them having a hidden video on their YouTube channel? I thought for sure the NMSS would be released yesterday. How far in advance are these things usually announced? I know for 'Touch' it was only a few hours before, but is that usually the case for their videos? I would've thought they'd like to build some hype first at least.

Posted by: Tinasha 28th March 2017, 08:17 AM

With their videos there seems to be no rules, they just come out whenever, sometimes hyped sometimes not.

I've heard fans of artists saying this "unlisted/private videos" have been uploaded before and it's never happened.

Posted by: BigMixer 28th March 2017, 10:28 AM

I guess they are doing the same thing they did with Touch's video - releasing it months after it was filmed. However in that case Touch was doing great on iTunes and Spotify without the video and NMSS is stuggling. As you guys already said, they should come back to the UK ASAP and focus on their main music market.

Awful video.

The beginning with the throwing change at the street musician seems unnecessary and pointless. I hate the fact the music pauses after about 10 seconds. The country bar theme doesn't make any sense for the summery vibe of the song. The riding the bull parts are also pretty cringe.

Don't know why these girls are struggling so hard at making a decent video.

I love the country music bar theme although I'm not totally sure this song completely suits it. That said it does feel summery to me, summer night rather than summer day but still summery. The general vibe reminds me a bit of 'What About Us' although that of course had multiple settings but it is all very Americanised just as that was.

I actually think it is the best of the three videos this era so far though. Touch would've been great if they'd have changed the ending where it was revealed they are on some random stripey colour planet, should've just kept it as a complete normal video set in a studio. Shout Out To My Ex was similarly Americanised but while that one is very very pretty, it never quite grasped the energy of the live performance which is what I'll always compare it to seeing as it was premiered live. This one is my favourite of the three.

Posted by: Juliano 29th March 2017, 11:31 PM

I love it. Now I'm gonna sit back and watch everyone be overly critical like good fans should be. wink.gif

Posted by: Defaze 29th March 2017, 11:33 PM

Bar the annoying pause 10 seconds in, I actually really like it. It put a huge smile on my face, and the middle 8 onwards is epic. I'm certainly not seeing what's 'awful' about it. The setting worked for me; they already captured the summery vibe with SOTME -- retreading the same theme would be beyond dull.

The 'Touch' criticism I got, and it was definitely warranted, but I'm not sure what there is to hate about this (bar the fact it's a little safe).

Posted by: troylovesmusic 29th March 2017, 11:35 PM

I like the video it's cute and does the job . I feel like this video would have suited another song more though (Power) I also much prefer The Touch Video atm which imo got unfairly critised and has turned out to be one of my favourite videos from them !

Posted by: Tinasha 29th March 2017, 11:36 PM

Shout Out is easily the best of the three while Touch is the most entertaining. This is a completely serviceable video though, a standard pop video. 'Awful' is a bit of a reach...

Yeah! I feel this theme would've suited the 'Power' video SO MUCH more (obvs with them pulling up on their motorbikes etc..)

I think the only fair criticism this could get is that it is a little bit "safe", but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a "bad" video. I do love seeing them having a blast though, especially towards the end when they're soaking everyone and each other. wub.gif

The Machine Gun Kelly parts were probs my favourite parts. He adds quite a bit more to the song for me! I wish that his shots with the girls weren't so quick to cut away!

Posted by: Court 29th March 2017, 11:51 PM

I think this video might be my favorite of the three and that's coming from someone who has loved all three. That ending with them up on the bar spraying the water and all the bull riding shots are iconic. It was sexy without trying too hard which I thought Touch was at points. I could tell that they had fun filming it and I had fun watching it. It's very close to Shout Out for me because I think they both were fitting for the song and well shot but this one was just more fun for me as a viewer.

Posted by: Defaze 30th March 2017, 12:00 AM

Yeah, I think this may be my favourite of the 3 singles upon initial viewing. SOTME was gorgeous but not as entertaining imo, and Touch is Touch...

MGK cosplaying as Freddy Krueger is a little distracting though.

Posted by: Jay 🙋🏻 30th March 2017, 12:23 AM

They all look great (both outfits) and it's a well shot video. The vibe of the song certainly didn't make me think of a low lit bar and cow girls, but somehow it still works. kink.gif I didn't really like the extended silence quite soon into the song though. My favourite scene is when they're on top of the bar!

Yeah he looked fantastic with them, but it feels so quick and uneventful that I barely remember after it's done.

Haha yeah, same! It's so weird. She sounds so much like her! Interested to see if it was just her miming along to Perrie's part though. So I'm looking forward to seeing a performance or two!

So, I have a theory. It might be possible that this video is the second part of SOTME. I mean they are in the same car that they took a "roadtrip" in SOTME. This just might be the part two of the roadtrip. They sang about being "over it" in the first half of the road trip and now they are celebrating the fact that they are truly over it. Maybe thats the reason why SOTME acoustic played during the beginning?

Came here to post exactly the same thing.

That is such a brilliant touch! Hopefully if that's the case, in the 'Power' music video, we see them leaving the bar they're currently in on motorbikes and driving off into the deeper into the US and having some sort of Western themed music video, before ending the era with 'Nothing Else Matters' or 'Your Love' or something laugh.gif

Posted by: Juliano 30th March 2017, 02:15 PM

I actually noticed that, because they are in the same car when they arrive and the man is playing Shout Out on his guitar, I'm here for part 3 being Power.

Posted by: liamk97 30th March 2017, 02:31 PM

I echo the comments of Leigh-Anne stealing lyrics from the other girls.

I was a bit underwhelmed on first watch but I feel that's mainly because I wasn't expecting the theme they went for as, on second watch, I'm appreciating it a lot more. It also didn't help that you have the disjointed silence at the start and I didn't feel the '5 6 7 8' -esque dance routine for the first chorus suited the pacing of the song at all, but everything after that is much better. I like the parts of Jesy on the pool/snooker table and all four girls dancing on the bar is great. I also like the bull riding shots - they work really well in slow mo and interchanging with shots of Machine Gun Kelly (his parts also work because he's actually there with the girls - 'Secret Love Song', take note!).

It's not quite back to the quality of 'Black Magic' or 'Hair' but it's definitely a step in the right direction and easily my favourite from this era. I like the idea of it being a part 2 to 'Shout Out to My Ex' and I'm really digging the idea of 'Power' having a part 3 video (although 'Power' needs a radio edit!).

Posted by: Juliano 30th March 2017, 04:55 PM

Great to see the album version in iTunes top 200 now.

Posted by: mr_pmt 30th March 2017, 05:00 PM

It's a nice enough video, I agree not much happens and it doesn't suit the song but it's nice enough. I would say they had more 'flair' in the 'Touch' video but unfortunately everything else about it completely ruined that.

One thing I have got from this though, that's the first time I've seen Machine Gun Kelly and he's a proper cutie!

Posted by: Electro Paradise 30th March 2017, 05:49 PM

I'm pretty much always underwhelmed by their music videos, it's their weakness imo. I'm glad it's boosting the song though, NMSS deserves more success on the charts than it has had so far. Fingers crossed it'll have a long run and get a good peak.

This might be a dumb question but I'm kind of new to all of this chart stuff. Do iTunes music video sales count as a sale of the song or is it just a totally different thing? Because No More Sad Songs is #1 on that chart and while that probably isn't a lot of sales, anything to make up for the lack of streaming could help.

It might have gone top 10 next week if it was still 59p but songs usually only get kept at 59p for two weeks. A third week would be great though.

I just really want this to out-peak How Ya Doin's #16, this shouldn't be their lowest peaker.

A top 20 peak would be a great result for them as the album has done well. A top 10 peak is starting to look unlikely for them now with this.

It's just been moved up Hot Hits UK, 10th song now, which should help.

The thing is, I worry it'll crack the top 50 on Spotify at the end of this week, but the discount will be taken away at the same time, and it'll have peaked on iTunes and Spotify at totally different times. If they keep the discount on Friday, I'm quite confident it'll go top 10.

They kept the discount (or at least thats what kworb is showing me)

Posted by: Tinasha 6th April 2017, 11:09 PM

Yessss.

It just needs to enter the top 50 on spotify now and climb into the top 30 as quick as possible.

Posted by: Defaze 6th April 2017, 11:16 PM

So glad. I thought this was destined to be their lowest peaking single a few weeks back, so it's fantastic that it has a chance at top 10. I imagine it'll climb pretty quickly once it does go top 50 on Spotify.

Hopefully the fact they've been taken out of the advertised 59p batch doesn't effect them too negatively.

Really good news at Spotify, it might not sound like much but the difference between #49 and #51 on the Spotify chart is pretty important as songs tend to climb up much faster once they're in the top 50. Really want this to smash, their best song for me now wub.gif

I'm predicting #12 for this next Friday, which, all things considered is pretty great.

I think it may just about sneak into the top 10 next week.
Here for it to be around for a while though.

Posted by: Tinasha 7th April 2017, 04:10 PM

#17 this week! They have a 100% top 20 hit rate now. Though I'm starting to doubt top 10, it should manage to out peak How Ya Doin' next week and not be their lowest peaker!

You're probably right, I can't see them edging out any of the current top 10 this week given that they all have much stronger streaming, plus obviously Harry Styles will be entering. Suppose it could possibly get there in a few weeks if its sales hold up, but I imagine it'll slide on iTunes when they remove the discount. Top 20's still a fantastic result.

I think if they'd entered the Spotify top 50 even 2 days earlier and had a bit of a head start there, they would have managed, but it's probably going to be a bit too late by the time it peaks on Spotify.

Down to 7 on iTunes sad.gif (Wishful thinking but I hope they get added back to the 59p batch soon)

Posted by: DiamondHeart 7th April 2017, 05:25 PM

Although I'm glad it's reached 17 and continued their run of top 20 singles, this deserves to be top 10. Hopefully with it charting, it'll receive more radio plays and increase on Spotify because this song cannot be their lowest-charting single. It's brilliant! Any chance of a UK performance or do they still have a while touring with Ariana? Would just give them a nice boast, they're doing fine on iTunes but need to increase in streams and on radio.

Posted by: Matt1989 7th April 2017, 05:49 PM

Number 17 is great for this week. With radio and TV airplay picking up, as well as streaming, it's definitely got a chance at Top 10

Ultimately, I think whilst this is doing an okay job, I think Touch has been such a huge hit that it's hindered the success of this somewhat. Not even when they first announced and released it, but even now 5 weeks later, Touch is still one of the most played songs on Capital and Heart so is really eating into NMSS' commercial airplay.

commercial airplay chart today:

Touch #3
No More Sad Songs #19

It's the 3rd. tongue.gif But I do agree. It's just a little frustrating that it doesn't even look set to climb after initially looking to challenge the top 10 this week.

I suppose there's always next week if the discount remains.

I low key enjoy Stay, generic as it is. Issues is so irritating. I don't think there is any big releases this week so Little Mix might be able to climb back up into the top 10 on iTunes.

I think they might but by the time the lives are on, it'll be single 4 time, so more likely they will do Power.

Though it looks as they're touring during all of the live BGT dates.

Posted by: MrLoverboy 18th April 2017, 12:21 PM

Real shame though, but last era they basically didn't perform SLS or Hair either, so I'm guessing they'll take this route now. Though I really think they'll need one performance of Power to make it happen.

Damn. I must say, I'm a little gutted NMSS won't be the megahit it's destined to be. Although I suppose there's worse things in the world than being overshadowed by a huge, previous release. Hopefully, given that they were one of the first announced Big Weekend acts, and they generally get more exposure. I wouldn't be surprised to see it removed though.

I'm surprised it's still climbing on Spotify, definitely thought it had stalled. It's holding up rather well on iTunes too. It's a shame it's so crowded at the moment; they'd be top 10 without all the surprise releases coming out of nowhere.

Posted by: Jonjo 20th April 2017, 03:47 PM

Now that they're no longer headlining, I'd say probably not.

Still discounted which is nice but even the smallest little promo slot would be much appreciated at this point cause the song is pretty much stalling.
