    Andrew's Review
Now That's What I Call Music! 38 otherwise referred to as Now 38 was the last instalment of 1997 and featured 41 hits which all charted within the Top 15 of the UK Singles Chart at sometime during the latter part of that year. Just 2 #1's were selected and that meant a few got ignored. Now 38 was the first time the series featured Chumbawamba, All Saints, Dario G, LL Cool J and Embrace.

The other UK #1's which were not included in the tracklisting were Oasis – D'You Know What I Mean?, Will Smith – Men In Black, the tribute to the late Princess Diana performed by Elton John – Candle In The Wind '97 and Aqua – Barbie Girl (although this appeared later in the next volume). Other notable Top 10 omissions included Gotham City by R. Kelly, one of Backstreet Boys best known hits Everybody, a higher charting Peter Andre single that featured called All About Us and Dannii Minogue – All I Wanna Do.

Those artists who we haven't heard from again after this volume's only appearance are Gala, Tina Moore, Ricky Martin, Bellini, PF Project, Ash, Meredith Brooks, Conner Reeves and Boyz II Men.

Artwork Rating: 8/10 Extremely Beautiful
Quite pretty actually with the detail in the seasonal theme of snowflakes and ice. I love how well the sparkly pink and blue go together in the logo itself. I think I'd rate this cover in my favourites from the series.

Disc 1 Favourite: Dario G – Sunchyme
Just a glorious dance anthem from the 90's. It wasn't until much later in life I learnt it was a sample of another song, but that doesn't change the fact it was a much loved track from 1997. The best thing Dario G ever did, followed shortly afterward by Carnival De Paris.

Disc 2 Favourite: Oasis – Stand By Me
I've gone for Oasis, although I would have much preferred to have had the #1 D'You Know What I Mean instead. However, this single was still a good Oasis anthem.

Overall Rating: 5/10 Poor
I had to mark this down as poor as, although there are many high charting hits featured, there's personal favourites ignored from Backstreet Boys, Will Smith and Dannii Minogue which were really essential for me to give a true representation of the most versatile music around, but there's too much indie on disc 2 that it let's the whole compilation down. That said, it could have been worse.

Andrew's Best 5 (as of April 2017)
1. Dario G – Sunchyme
2. Sash! feat. La Trec – Stay
3. Spice Girls – Spice Up Your Life
4. Oasis – Stand By Me
5. Gala – Freed From Desire

Andrew's Worst 5 (as of April 2017)
1. Ocean Colour Scene – Better Day
2. Janet Jackson – Got Til' It's Gone
3. Jon Bon Jovi – Janie, Don't Take Your Love To Town
4. Ash – A Life Less Ordinary
5. Robbie Williams – Lazy Days

I voted 'Spice Up Your Life' for disc 1 but accidentally skipped over 'Sunchyme' in the poll for some reason and only noticed after I had voted, would have actually picked that kink.gif 'Sunchyme' has got to be one of the most uplifting songs that I have ever heard heart.gif love the video too.

I do love Oasis but 'Stand By Me' isn't one of their best for me (I agree Awardinary that 'D'You Know What I Mean? was much better!), plumped for The Verve for disc 2 instead. 'The Drugs Don't Work' is incredibly haunting and emotional, the lyrics and general feel/delivery of the song gives me goosebumps every time.

40. Peter Andre – Lonely 3:45 {6}

Went for Tubthumping from Disc 1 because that is an ABSOLUTE BOP and then Faithless' Don't Leave for Disc 2 because I just love the completely different direction for that song.

Disc 1 is completely slaying me with its tracklisting though once again!

Artwork: 6/10 - alright but nothing special.

Disc 1: Sunchyme - no questions asked.

Disc 2: Stand By Me - one of their most underrated singles.

Overall: 6/10 - don't remember a lot of these.

Love this Now. Both discs have their highlights (Sunchyme/Stay on disc 1, Karma Police/Stand By Me on disc 2). More classic 97.

I went for Boyzone's Picture Of You on Disc 1, easily one of their best, but it's a pretty good disc overall!

Disc 2 is not so good but I went for Black Eyed Boy by Texas, love the throwback Motown sound a decade before everyone was doing it (and Sharleen even did it again herself on her solo album). Stand By Me by Oasis is second, love the verses and bridge of that song particularly.

The only thing I didn't like about the album is that they used the 80s remix of "You Sexy Thing" which also appeared on NOW 9 instead of the original 70s version
